A quality review Dustin. Purchased. Thank you.
Enjoy. I hope it works well for you.
Bought this charger a while, and can confirm its convenience. I have 3 batteries, and it's definitely helpful with managing those.
The meters are certainly inaccurate a majority of the time but eventually do get it right.
I'm glad you are enjoying it.
Very interesting, Thanks Dustin 👍🤓👍 I hope you'll be able to make another review later, showing how the Ilano batteries and charger are performing in the long run. Also, It's good to know how long the battery lasts when fully charged, right out of the charger, but it would also be nice to see how good they are at retaining their charge when not used. Some tend to self discharge quicker than others. I never tested that but with AA rechargeable batteries, those with a higher mah can give more peak current when needed but I think they tend to self discharge quicker than their lower mah counterpart (?🤔?)
That will really depend on my schedule. I've gotten so busy with reviews it is crazy!
Thank you for alerting us to this!
Just to be 100% sure - can you confirm that the Ilano charger has no issues charging my existing Sony batteries?
They charged fine in it. I did multiple charge cycles with it.
Nice battery charger. I have a question have you ever use an older Manota A mount 300 2.8 with an adapter to the Sony E mount Ben looking at these I’m intrigued with the price and the look?
I have zero experience with anything A-mount. I was purely a Canon guy during that era.
Ok thanks keep up the amazing work Dustin, you are blessed and highly favored! Glad to be your partner.
Thank you. Learned about this charger a little while back and today decided to order the version without the included batteries but did order the version that comes with a bundled 20,000 mAH PD power brick to carry with it into the field. I have many other chargers but wanted to give this a try since I needed another one and it cost less than a Jupio. I will compare it with my Jupio Tri-battery charger which is very convenient. Also several Sony chargers from my A1’s but they only take the single battery. At home on my desk I use the ISDT NP2 and NP2 Air chargers and spent the extra money for the ISDT Power 200 W 200H hub which has 4 PD USB ports (for the NP2s and LP2 Canon charger) plus a MagSafe induction surface for my iPhone but of course that’s not really portable. So I can now support charging 10 batteries if I really needed to at home and 3-5 in the field without using any of my cameras. Hope this new one works out. Take care.
Nice - enjoy.
@@DustinAbbottTWIFollow-up question. What is a USB-C wall charger you can recommend to use with these?
@@stevenwaldstein2249 Frankly anything that can output at least 18W should be fine. There's tons of options.
@@DustinAbbottTWI Dustin, Well I actually use two that I like and now I know they properly support PD 3.0 and PSS. The also both have at least one USB-C port and one USB-A port so it can support both the Llano dual battery charger and the Llano 20,000 mAH battery power bank. They are:
1. Baseus USB C Charger, 65W 2 Port Flat Wall Charger PD 3.0, Ultra-Slim GaN Charger with Foldable Plug for MacBook, iPhone 15/14/13/12/11/Pro Max/XS/XR, Samsung, iPad, Steam Deck with Charging Cable
2. Anker Prime 67W USB C Charger, Anker GaN 3-Port Compact Fast PPS Wall Charger, For MacBook Pro/Air, Pixelbook, iPad Pro, iPhone 15/14/Pro, Galaxy S23/S22, Note20, Pixel, Apple Watch
I chose the higher power ones so I can charge the two or a phone. #1 folds nice and thin when in the wall socket. #2 is an Anker quality charger.
Take a look.
Most chargers only have specs for volts and output in amps, not watts
Do you know if all USB-C chargers can output at least the 12-13 watts to achieve the full charge (Sony) in 170 minutes?
I can't vouch for all of them, but I don't think that's really unusual.
I own this unit as well. My biggest complaint would be... it is too big. I feel like you could cut off a cm in each direction. I still use it as primary external charger however.
I think that's a fair critique.
But dose it charge the batterys up to 100%? If the case thinks the battery is at less charge?
I believe the answer is yes. The camera always shows them at 100% when I put the battery in.
@@DustinAbbottTWI Ahh Good :) Thank you for your reply!
Don’t forget Nikon! EN-EL15c batteries are available as well. It’s funny because I’ve not used the smaller Nikon batteries for quite a while and went looking for extras to feed a Z6III and stumbled across this brand. I bought it blind (though it had two 5-star reviews), but here you are providing some hands-on feedback. Thank you.
Hmmm, Ilano never mentioned Nikon to me
@@DustinAbbottTWI Sorry, the product I bought is being sold under a different “brand” name but the case is exactly the same.
Are you sure? To my knowledge this design is an Ilano exclusive.
When can we view your Nikon z8 review?
I'm working on becoming good and familiar with the camera before reviewing it.
Can't find them in Amazon UK
I couldn't find them on Amazon UK either.
The real issue of 3rd party batteries is durability & discharge. Though not sure how much it is the a7r5 issue. I am using Welborn - also Chinese - they have a usb slot in the battery itself and a combo pack with 2 batteries selling for 50$. Though not so premium as the Ilano. There is also an indian company which makes batteries but I have not tested them. But more and more variants are coming with usb - either in the battery or the charger. I hardly use the original sony charger. Much easier to have the usb-c back up & carry a power bank. Being a design aesthete, I really like the Ilano kit! And your presentation brings it out!!!
It's a nice setup for sure. I do agree on longevity of third party batteries. I'm obviously evaluating that as I move ahead
That C8 connector isn't proprietary and I have tonne of chargers and adapters that use that connector also its easy to source that cable as most electrical shops carry it.
No, proprietary is not the the right word, but neither does everyone have one sitting around.
@@DustinAbbottTWI It seems like North America has avoided C8 connectors for some reason. Most of my chargers(camera, alkaline and lithium) all came with C8 connector or in case of adapters(laptops and monitors) "mickey mouse" plug. Outside of North America C8 cables are quite easy to find and generally photographers do have atleast 1 device that needs that cable.
... jesus, what a batterry charger!
It’s a very nice one.
This is great but that was a real shame using an inappropriate size SD card. Obviously needed at least a 256gb card. The Sony batteries are known for running longer than probably any other battery on 0% let alone the last 5 or 6%. I would really fix that and get the real numbers - those numbers are the single most important bit of this 12:52 video imho.
Thanks again though
I bought this charger for about 3 month, it's every easy to use. But I wouldn’t store batteries in it for too long, let's say 1 day or more, for fear that the batteries would gradually deplete their power.
I don't see why it should deplete them. It's not like you are routinely powering the LCD screen.
Yuppers. When I get home. I’ll use your affiliate link.
Enjoy!
Always a Fujifilm bridesmaid, never a Fujifilm bride.
LOL. Not always, but often.
Or just get USB- C chargeable batteries from smallrig for the same price minus the charger
Presumably you'd need two cables plugged into two power sources to charge two batteries? Whereas here you only need one.
Fair point.
I have them, they trigger authenticity warnings. Didn’t use to, do with the latest firmware.
