This game isn't good at all. It's a fucking masterpiece. Music, story, dungeons, character development, cliffhangers, amazing bosses, HOURS of fun. Long live The Legend of Zelda.

to be honest, I don't see why Skyward Sword wasn't a good game. it gave us something totally different and I love it! Living in the sky was absolutely amazing, and the loftwings! Sure, motionplus was a pain in the ass, but totally worth it! The plot is super amazing and the ZeLink is adorable! It's super creative, and this is why I love it so much!

Each to their own. I liked twilight princess, I also liked Skyward Sword. It was fun to actually have another zelda game that was very light hearted. As for the controls, I felt it added for me a new challenge on the journey to save the world. And become the hero. Every game is good in its own respect. Heck, I know a guy who likes LoZ 2 more than OOT. And that's fine.
I wouldn't say that's true. Sure, a darker themed Zelda would've been great, I personally loved the atmosphere of Twilight Princess, but that might be a lot to do with how vast the world felt too. Skyward Sword felt so forced and so limited in comparison. A lot of the mechanics also held it back from being fun. And going back to fight that Demise boss and stab its toes as it climbs up a cliff again and again... I dreaded that more and more each time round. But I did think having a mano a mano swordfight against girahim every now and again was badass!

Been playing through all the 3D Zelda games in preparation for Breath of the Wild, and it's been such a blast seeing the different experiences in each one. The classic adventure that is Ocarina of Time, the dark, desperate and somber feeling Majora's Mask conveyed, the touching, beautiful story that is Wind Waker, and the more mature, epic game that is Twilight Princess. I'm yet to play Skyward Sword, but I can tell already it's going to convey another awesome feeling.
After finishing the game last week, I can say that Skyward Sword conveyed a very heroic, adventurous feeling that I don't think any other Zelda game has done. It's incredible, really.
BlockSquad1000 100% percent that. Besides that, the culmination of the story made this incarnation of Link feel like the most powerful, most heroic Link, the forefather of all the other Links. In the words of Demise, “[Link] stand(s) out as a paragon of his kind.”
Im actually pretty hype over it, I never played Skyward sword before but I like it. So, if motion was the reason that it got hate, I think that it allows you to play the game yourself!

@@Bacon8t0r I'm pretty sure Nintendo as such didn't really intend this, but rather the composer reversed Zelda's Lullaby and put it in here on his own, as a small easter egg for fans of the series. I haven't played the game, but I recently watched a video on the hypothetical topic of "Darkmotifs", hypothetical in the sense that it's not a real thing, and the guy in the video made some guesses as to what it would be, was it a real thing. In that video, this track was brought up as an example of a Darkmotif, as it holds Zelda's Leitmotif, "Zelda's Lullaby", but with the notes played in reverse order to disguise the fact that the Goddess referred to in the title of the track is, in fact, Zelda. You wouldn't realize it at first, but it's there. That said, I'm a huge fan of the series, and it kinda surprises me that I've somehow managed to miss out of this game...

Every zelda game has flaws and strengths. Yeah the controls weren’t the best, but the story, dungeons, music, art direction, and when the combat works it’s a really great game. It’s not fair to call it the worst
I really wish they would make a Skyward Sword HD for either the Wii U or Nintendo Switch. I absolutely adore this game, and it's Soundtrack is among the best in the franchise.
I can see that happening now that we know what the joycons are capable of. With this improved motion control setup, Skyward Sword's gameplay would be significantly better and would be a welcome addition to the Switch's lineup.

Skyward Sword isn't without it's problems. The sidequests are pretty shallow, I personally found Fi's explaining things that you literally just heard annoying, the third visits to Faron Woods and Eldin Volcano kinda sucked (especially those damn tadtones), the sky field is really bland, and the game can be very hand-hold-y. HOWEVER, that doesn't stop this game from being one of my favourite Zelda games. The music is great, the aesthetic is downright gorgeous, I love the story, the characters are my favourite in the series (Groose and Girahim are top notch), the relationship between Link and Zelda is my favourite in the series (oh my god they're so friggin ADORABLE I CAN'T TAKE IT), the combat is great (yeah I like the motion controls, sue me), it has some interesting items, and can we talk about how awesome Lanayru Desert is? At the end of the day, Skyward Sword definitely has its problems, but I love it to death.

So far from this book, I've memorized Song of Storms, Lost Woods, Midna's Lament, Zelda's Lullaby, I have played Gerudo Valley and I am in the process of mastering Hyrule Field (which is very difficult, about 8 pages too). i've never played skyward sword, but this is EPIC. the exact kind of feeling of passion and chills that i would expect from the legend of zelda. a story that spans eons, replayed over and over, again and again, with twists, turns and falls you never saw coming. it all climaxes in a grand battle with demons, monsters and beasts, saving the land from an awful fate. it's inexplicably powerful.
They created The Ballad of the Goddess by playing Zelda's Lullaby backwards. That's how Koji Kondo came up with the song. Makes sense if you know Skyward Swords story and who Zelda is.

I know someone from Nintendo, possibly Koji Kondo came out and said it is Zelda's Lullaby backwards but I don't remember if that was before or after someone had already found it. I've been playing skyward sword on the switch -- I've actually played it once already and I'm currently doing hero mode. it's super fun actually and I'm really glad this came to the switch so I could experience it, because I never had the devices to play the old zelda games before -- I've only played botw, skyward sword, and soon to play age of calamity. thank you nintendo, you did something right for once quick tip : the remastered version is better with buttons
Nah the remaster is way better with motion. The way they had to use the left stick makes it virtually unplayable with buttons, and the motion controls are incredibly fun. Even for people who didn't like them before, the joycon is infinitely more suited for Skyward Sword's motion controls than the wii controllers were, plus it's small and light enough to use so twisting things is easy. As someone who's played both, the OG definitely would've benefited from having the option to do buttons, and that would've appeased so many people, but this version really is only held back by it. The only reason to not use motion controls is if you're out of docked mode, and even then, I'd honestly just wait for docked mode to play.

@@Bacon8t0r I'm pretty sure Nintendo as such didn't really intend this, but rather the composer reversed Zelda's Lullaby and put it in here on his own, as a small easter egg for fans of the series. I haven't played the game, but I recently watched a video on the hypothetical topic of "Darkmotifs", hypothetical in the sense that it's not a real thing, and the guy in the video made some guesses as to what it would be, was it a real thing. In that video, this track was brought up as an example of a Darkmotif, as it holds Zelda's Leitmotif, "Zelda's Lullaby", but with the notes played in reverse order to disguise the fact that the Goddess referred to in the title of the track is, in fact, Zelda. You wouldn't realize it at first, but it's there.
That said, I'm a huge fan of the series, and it kinda surprises me that I've somehow managed to miss out of this game...

I can see that happening now that we know what the joycons are capable of. With this improved motion control setup, Skyward Sword's gameplay would be significantly better and would be a welcome addition to the Switch's lineup.

I didn't know that. O. o well, I bought OoT for the Nintendo 3Ds too because I love this game so much. But my absolute favorite is MM and TP. Even if the water Dungeon in TP was far too easy for a "The Legend of Zelda".
Skyward sword may have its faults but at its core it’s still a fantastic Zelda game, and it has one of the best soundtracks ever.

Skyward Sword isn't without it's problems. The sidequests are pretty shallow, I personally found Fi's explaining things that you literally just heard annoying, the third visits to Faron Woods and Eldin Volcano kinda sucked (especially those damn tadtones), the sky field is really bland, and the game can be very hand-hold-y.
HOWEVER, that doesn't stop this game from being one of my favourite Zelda games. The music is great, the aesthetic is downright gorgeous, I love the story, the characters are my favourite in the series (Groose and Girahim are top notch), the relationship between Link and Zelda is my favourite in the series (oh my god they're so friggin ADORABLE I CAN'T TAKE IT), the combat is great (yeah I like the motion controls, sue me), it has some interesting items, and can we talk about how awesome Lanayru Desert is?
At the end of the day, Skyward Sword definitely has its problems, but I love it to death.
So much happened in my life the last year, turning upside down, harsh times in which I can't bring myself to smile. Then I listened this after many years and I suddenly shed a tear out of nowhere.

By the way,if you are ever looking for some good (and rather difficult, although there's an easy version too) Zelda music, www.amazon.com/The-Legend-Zelda-Series-Piano/dp/0739082965/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412482263&sr=8-1&keywords=Zelda+sheet+music. I will warn you though, the binding is TERRIBLE and the pages will fall apart before you have mastered the song. But it's officially licensed by Nintendo, and it sounds very similar to the actual songs. So far from this book, I've memorized Song of Storms, Lost Woods, Midna's Lament, Zelda's Lullaby, I have played Gerudo Valley and I am in the process of mastering Hyrule Field (which is very difficult, about 8 pages too).
Unfortunately no Skyward Sword though, the book was published in like 2011 :(

i've never played skyward sword, but this is EPIC. the exact kind of feeling of passion and chills that i would expect from the legend of zelda. a story that spans eons, replayed over and over, again and again, with twists, turns and falls you never saw coming. it all climaxes in a grand battle with demons, monsters and beasts, saving the land from an awful fate. it's inexplicably powerful.

Despite games like Ocarina being revolutionary for their times, Skyward Sword will always be my all time favorite game. Skyward Sword had real characters, with personality. I even liked motion controls. Fight me!

I've been playing skyward sword on the switch -- I've actually played it once already and I'm currently doing hero mode. it's super fun actually and I'm really glad this came to the switch so I could experience it, because I never had the devices to play the old zelda games before -- I've only played botw, skyward sword, and soon to play age of calamity. thank you nintendo, you did something right for once
quick tip : the remastered version is better with buttons
Nah the remaster is way better with motion. The way they had to use the left stick makes it virtually unplayable with buttons, and the motion controls are incredibly fun. Even for people who didn't like them before, the joycon is infinitely more suited for Skyward Sword's motion controls than the wii controllers were, plus it's small and light enough to use so twisting things is easy.
As someone who's played both, the OG definitely would've benefited from having the option to do buttons, and that would've appeased so many people, but this version really is only held back by it. The only reason to not use motion controls is if you're out of docked mode, and even then, I'd honestly just wait for docked mode to play.
To some this is the theme of skywardsword, to me? The theme of The Cute Mario Bros
