    I’ve also found track days to be intense, even when not driving my own car. Never done a road trip but totally agree that the social side of it, combined with exploring new places and just enjoying the car at 7 tenths is also my thing 👍

    Nice one Max. I have to say I absolutely loved Goodwood - I think you can push a Cayman pretty hard on that circuit and yet comfortably stay within the limits. I followed a number of cars fairly close on our day there and it was really noticeable just how composed the Cayman is through the corners - as long as you've got it settled going in you can carry SO much momentum through. For me, it was helpful that it was damp first thing and progressively dried out as the confidence built up. Goodwood is a fabulous track for a safe, high speed experience. 145mph+ on that long back straight was awesome! See you on the road again in 2023.

    Just watched this and your track day back to back. I think you should locate a more open track, with grass runoff that allows you to make a mistake should you make one, on a dry day without the horrible conditions you mentioned, and crucially with an instructor to help you push and be comfortable. I guarantee you you'll realize its more safe than driving backroads, at much higher speeds and heck you can still have your friends there.

    Thanks for your content Max - have really enjoyed following you this year. I hope to have purchased my first Porsche (yes it’s going to be a Cayman 😁) by the time you get your GT4 back on the road. Here’s to many happy miles to all Porsche enthusiasts for 2023. All the best to you

      Thanks… I’m probably not going to make that much content for the rest of the year… it all depends… you might find some useful videos in the back catalogue! I loved receiving videos explaining owner back stories during Covid… it’s an area I would love to expand on. When you do get your Cayman, if you want your story and the car featured please drop me an email! maxrevscars@gmail.com. Plenty of cars on the market and deals to be struck!

    👍 on AutoFarm. I haven’t ever used anywhere else but I struggle to see how anyone can beat the experience of taking one’s car to AutoFarm.
    Have you considered car storage during the winter months, I have been looking into that and it’s not as crazy expensive as one may think it would be. Worth considering. Great video Max. Best regards

      Thanks Julian. I use a great car cover by Specialised Covers… car stays totally dry and zero rust on the brake discs while covered. I leave some dehumidifier packs inside the cabin… plugged into a CTEK charger… roll the car every few weeks, over inflate the tyres… so no I have not considered professional storage. The only plus points of that would be the moisture control of the air… however I prefer my car to be close to me.

    Max, good video. I would strongly suggest you change your tyres to Michelin Pilot PS4Ss N0 (Porsche rated) as if you're not going to track the car, the PS4Ss are fantastic for these cars. I changed the Cup 2s to PS4Ss N0 rated on my 981 GT4 and for normal and spirited road driving they are excellent. I also spoke with my OPC who said as longs the tyres are N0 rated it would not effect any warranty, I too have a warranty on my 981 GT4 which I plan to keep and will continue to have a Porsche warranty on it.

    Just put mine away today Max. Only good thing is that the insurance rates go down.

      We’ve had rain 8/10 days since I put the car away. I’m not shy to say I only enjoy my Cayman in dry weather, ideally with the sun and blue skies! Let’s both look forward to next year, we’ll need a good road trip after the next 3-5 months!

    I'd like to see a video on your thoughts and feelings for your 987 vs 981 GT4 if you have the time or inclination. I'm curious what if you feel the 987 had advantages - some people say it's smaller and more nimble, it feels more raw and has more feel and connection to the driving experience (especially in the steering). Maybe you feel the GT4 is better in every way. I'm not sure.

      OK deal, will do this video, and for me personally it’s an interesting topic both mechanically and psychologically…

      @@MAXREVS Good stuff! Thanks. I'm also interested in the difference at normal revs when just daily driving and not really pushing it, and of course the manual gearbox / clutch feeling.

    Is it "accepted" that an oil change can be by a recognized independent & not affect the Porsche warranty?

    • @Timboo1971
      @Timboo1971 2 роки тому +1

      It's an 'elective' oil change in addition to and in between the standard OPC official service intervals. So no, it does not affect the Porsche warranty.

    • @MAXREVS
      @MAXREVS  2 роки тому

      Yes to clarify, I have a 2 year warranty. Prior to warranty renewal, the last service must be done by Porsche to continue the warranty. You can get work done by non-OPC but they must use genuine Porsche approved parts, e.g. you cannot get non-standard brake discs and pads fitted with an after-market exhaust and then expect your warranty to be solid. It’s a grey area, apparently if you are legally trained you can make the argument, that if the air conditioning develops a fault, it cannot be related to your after market brake discs and pads… but who wants that hassle with the likelihood you come out on the wrong end of the outcome…

      @@MAXREVS You don't have to use an official Porsche dealer for repairs or maintenance to keep your warranty. Its illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage, simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs done by someone else. However, the garage that undertakes the work must be VAT registered, and official Porsche parts must be used.

    • @MAXREVS
      @MAXREVS  Рік тому

      @@paulzstrong2450 Yeah thanks, a clearer statement would have been, your last service must have been done by OPC prior to paying for another warranty policy. You can't buy extended warranty from Porsche unless your last service was done by OPC. So it's pointless having an indie service as you need to pay again for a Porsche service 😭
