There are a few here on UA-cam. Transitioning is a very personal thing and it's not right for everybody who may feel or have some traits of the opposite gender. I think the transphobic shouting is due to the little acceptance that transgenders have gained and the fear that it will encourage mainstream society's belief that transitioning is a whim, or phase and is to be discouraged.

Because the LGBTQ+ community treats de-transitioners appallingly. They're told to shut up, to stop discouraging transitioners, they're told they were "never really trans in the first place", or that their de-transition only gives christian fundamentalists hate fuel. De-transitioners often report losing all of their LGBTQ+ friends and even receive hate or death threats. So beautiful considering it comes from the same community that preaches that all love is love. Which it isn't.

I think our youth is too exposed to all this different ways of life. This kind of things where considered "taboo" Now it has been so normalized that it's confusing some of our youths. Also, we have to consider that families, peers, school, neighborhoods, experiencing any form of abuse, illnesses, war, natural disasters, etc. are environmental examples that can affect [not always] one emotional, social and psychological development. This is why we need to support our children, but also encourage them to wait and see if after puberty they are feeling the same way about themselves. 80 to 95% of kids who think they want to transition come to terms and accept/embrace their biological sex/gender by late adolescence (after puberty). We all got to admit that for most of us puberty was not a fun thing to go through. Puberty and teenage years are a very awkward time in life. This is why doing our best in creating a good and safe environment for our children is so important. By the way great video and thank you for sharing.

It is difficult when you have a close friend who's transgender when you're...different, or in somewhat of an insecure state yourself.
My best friend is transgender and I had a very difficult time when I was slightly younger because I was so influenced by what she was doing and how she was feeling and began applying it to myself because as an awkward and depressed 14 - 16 year old I hadn't exactly found myself yet, and I wondered if I was actually a transgender man because I had a strong tomboy phase back then. I'm just glad it died quickly before I told anyone about it because I don't know where I would be now otherwise.
But it's definitely true that those around you can influence you even if they're not trying to. Simply watching them can be enough sometimes.

    • @oliver1616
      @oliver1616 4 роки тому +18

It is pretty scary to see, but it can be seen as a good thing. Actual trans people have easier access to hormones and society is less likely to judge them compared to even 20 years ago. But thanks to the sudden growth in popularity in the past 10 years, (usually) teens who feel the need to be unique and cool or are looking for answers end up turning to it as if it were a hobby or a cure.
It's helping one problem, but starting another, which stinks. I think therapy would be a good answer to this, since a lot of detransitioners that I've seen have other issues (abuse, peer pressure, insecurities, etc) that should be addressed before rushing to a conclusion. It feels pretty harsh, but it might just be what the person needs and might help with cis people transitioning. Just an idea, that I'm commenting here for some reason

    • @adiladle

@@oliver1616 I think part of the problem is that many of the people who start transitioning do it with the goal of a binary transition while many of them may be somewhere in the middle, like I know some trans people who are MtNBi who went on oestrogen and felt happy about the changes but knew that "the surgery" is not something that they would want, I think that some of the problems are because people think that they have to go the whole way when maybe electing for some surgeries but not all of them etc may be the right path

On another note, I think gender roles and stereotypes play a big part in peoples insecurities. We constantly associate gender with the way people are and the things they do. Like saying "boys will be boys" or "girls are so emotional". Saying only girls can wear make up and only guys like sports. So when we constantly hear these things, and realize we don't live up to the standard of that gender, it makes us distressed and feel like we have to change ourselves, whether it's becoming transgender or stopping ourselves from certain behavior, or just saying "f you" to people who judge them. I'm glad you were able to come to the realization that you loved yourself the way you are. I know this isn't the case for most people, but I think if only people realized they could be themselves no matter what they looked like, they can take a step back and pick apart the things they actually want for themselves and what they only wanted in order to live up to society standards.

    • @astr323

this is exactly how i feel. i am blessed to be (mostly) comfortable with the sex and gender i was assigned at birth, and i have huge respect for anyone willing to go through the painful process of transitioning. it's something i will never have to do and i cannot begin to imagine the pain one must feel before eventually having no choice but to succumb to it. but on the other hand, i do sort of feel like there are a lot of trans folks who go through with complete gender transitions who..idk...sort of feed into the whole gender binary? you shouldn't have to be a girl to feel valid wearing makeup. you shouldn't have to be a boy to decide you don't like wearing your hair long, or to decide you prefer wearing pants 24/7. gender is so fluid and everyone should just feel comfortable being whoever they want to be. and i know that first requires society to be okay with everyone being who they want to be. it sucks. but i so wish the world operated this way. i feel like a lot more people would be at peace with themselves without having to make such massive overhauls to their lives and lifestyles.

+astr323 I'm a transgender but I do not go beyond what I was born as physically. some might just say no you are bi, but I truly know how I feel inside and to what extent. I'm largely happier now embracing that part of me instead of fighting it. Though there is always a battle within myself to wanting to have been born female instead. Its very hard for me to explain it to others really. I am just happy I have some around me in real life that accept me the way I am. Because truthfully and not being negative here. Most male to female transformations still look too male-ish to me. And I do not wish to undergo all of that surgery to only find I'm a manly type of girl. As to me most end up looking. Nor do I want to dress up as a woman only to find I still end up as a manly looking woman. For me its all or nothing. So I will still stay male in outward appearance, even if looking in the mirror is hard for me. Because I do not find manly looking females sexy, regardless if biologically female or not.

I so appreciate you being brave enough to share this. I feel like a lot of times people use examples of detransitioning as a reason to not accept or allow trans people to be as they are, but it's really quite the opposite. Because of society's strict gender roles, trans people feel forced to transition in order to fit in with their gender, when that may not be what they actually want/need. I consider myself a boy, but I have no desire to transition medically right now or in my forseeable future. I still dress and appear extremely femme, but I do not believe this negates who I am in any way. As long as I know who I am, that's all that matters to me. A lot of trans people's dysphoria comes from society's expectation of them, and I think a lot of us could be happy without transitioning if we learned to shed those gender roles.

It's not like someone else didn't get to transition because he did. He didn't waste somebody else's. He truthfully believed that this is what he had to do to feel like he belonged. Just because he finally realized his true feelings (which he really could have only done by transitioning/ living as a woman) does not negate his initial reasons for transitioning. Maybe the reason that a psychiatrist didn't 'pick anything up' was because he actually wanted to transition for a good reason. He changed his mind, that's it. People are allowed to do that.

    • @no-bark2241

I understand why that's a thing to be upset about. some people don't get to transition even if they know that that's a thing they need to do in order to feel good about themselves and not live in anxiety. in my country you really can't transition if you have mental issues or you're not sure. you have to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria before getting to transition, and even then you might not get to transition if you have mental health issues.
but he didn't take hormones for that long either. the thing that he did go through the process and got the hormones might make some trans people upset... that he could do it while they, even when knowing that they're definitely trans, don't get to transition for whatever reason.
I am trans too, and this video actually made me more sure that I am trans. I have always thought too much of what people think about me and that social role that I should fill. but it just doesn't feel right. I don't feel dysphoria about the social expectations though. I feel dysphoria because of my body.

And I’m not saying that trans doesn’t exist, lmao just preaching that it’s okay to be feminine while being a guy and it’s okay to be a masculine girl! crossdressing is not the same thing as believing you are a gender that doesnt match your body. crossdressers are usually straight men and they like dressing up as women, but they dont want to *BE* a woman. See the difference?

You know you’ve been really lucky for all the support you’ve had in your process, and not everybody can say that, so I’m really glad for you! I have pretty much the same trouble as you but as a woman. Sometimes I’ve hated my masculin parts for not fitting in what society expects from a feminin body. If being treated as the opposite gender is what makes you feel better than live that way. (That doesn't mean you have to be masculine to be a man or feminine to be a woman. You can transition and be a feminine man)

Just because you likje to feel and look pretty doesn't mean you must want to be a girl. You are absolutely beautiful as a boy by the way. I think my son is also a boy that loves pretty things and being pretty. Thanks for making this video. I think that there needs to be more awareness to this. Boys have the right to be beautiful and wear pretty things just as girls do. XOXO

    • @latinainwpb
      @latinainwpb 6 років тому +14

You seem so biased thinking pretty/beautiful only pertains to the female sex. Males can be beautiful too, just in a different way. I'm a woman but your post made me feel uncomfortable about the love for "pretty things" and "being pretty". All those things are really superficial and do NOT define a person, it is simply not good to put too much emphasis on what is really VANITY. There's no such thing for a boy, or girl for that matter, having "the right" to be beautiful, I think even for females to obsess about "pretty things" is rather wrong, how about cultivating deeper values, qualities and spirituality that would help to make the journey through this life more significant not just for the individual but for the whole of humanity thanks to their contribution to it?

Your SJW bullshit is as destructive as the knuckleheadness of the pre 1980s or the conservative right wing. People are individuals not tags, labels, boxes or groups. Stop trying to define people with idiotic and needless games of identity politics and pointless and arbitrary labels and just realise one simple truth, everyone is different. He didn't have dysphoria, dysphoria is a feeling of uncomfort, and/or disconnect from ones body, usually genitals although plenty of other body parts can cause dysphoria. He stated that he never felt that uncomfort or disconnect from his body, meaning he didn't have dysphoria, and regardless of what your neighborhood Tumblr would say, you cannot be transgender without having dysphoria. I'm not bashing him, he made an uneducated mistake, it happens to all of us, but that doesn't mean that just because he made that mistake everyone else did the same

This is so important. Thank you for making this video. The number of children that are being referred to gender clinics is skyrocketing and it worries me because these children do not understand what it truly going to happen to them. If someone does not have gender dysphoria, they are NOT transgender. Being transgender in general is the state of having gender dysphoria. Cross-sex hormones are not candy and shouldn't be being given out as easily as they are to minors currently.

Jasmine Vasquez When children are referred to clinics this is accompanied with therapy and family counseling. Medication (mostly hormone blockers for prepubescent children) are not given as candy. Young adults over the age of 18 must also complete a certain number of therapy sessions before being referred to a physician for hormones, this is not an overnight process for a reason. Trans and gender non conforming folks come in all shapes and sizes, some may not ever want to get medication and this is absolutely taken in consideration. I am a therapist who works with LGBTQ teens/young adults who are often exploring their gender identity, and I see many youth who experiment with their identity and may change their mind only slightly. Gender is fluid and ever changing but in my experience if someone is unsure about the transitioning process the professionals working with the individual/family are aware of this and provide even more support. Like I said, it's not easy and overnight for a reason.

I think this is a big reason why we need to allow young boys to embrace more traditionally feminine things if they'd like to. If they grow up feeling unsure about their gender because they like traditionally feminine things, then they might go further into transition than what this person did, and really regret their choices. People just need to feel accepted no matter what. That requires other people to be accepting though, and unfortunately I believe the world still has a long way to go.

I think far too many people confuse being uncomfortable in your own skin as being trans. How did the message of "don't change yourself, love yourself" change to, "if you don't love yourself, change yourself" ?

I used to really really really hate myself. I hid and was a coward, socially awkward and silent. I felt horrible anxiety when someone called me a woman because it didn't feel right, do I didn't want to talk.
I didn't start to love myself before I came out as transgender. I have not changed anything about myself, except that I have accepted the way I feel. I have not transitioned (yet). But the thing is I was trying to change the way that I feel, tried to convince myself that I was a woman. Until I finally stopped trying to change the way that I feel and accept myself as the trans guy I am and FUCK I LOVE MYSELF

Kevstter Man ...does it count that I thought I might really die today from taking a painful shit? (lol - true story!) Seriously though, I sat there for an entire hour, almost passed out 3 times from the pain, and could barely walk back to bed since my legs were like jello! So, are you happy enough with that (me painfully shitting shit), or do you still want me to actually die too?
I do have a genuine question for you though while I’m at it, cause I also noticed you made hateful comments to a lot of the other commenters... They likely won’t waste their time bothering with all the trolls they encounter like I am right now, and since I’m relatively new to commenting, I’m genuinely curious as to what makes people like you tick? Like, why must I be verbally abused simply for paying a stranger a compliment? I’ve never met the guy in this video, never even seen him before or watched his videos prior to this one, I don’t know his name and I’m not a subscriber to his channel either... I got to this video because it was suggested after the last suggested video I watched. Me complementing his eyes certainly doesn’t mean that I agree or disagree with him or condone or condemn his lifestyle, as I’m in absolutely no place to judge anyone, especially the life of someone I’ve never even met before! The only thing I could deduce from watching it is that it sounds like this guy has really been through hell & back at such a young age (and in my honest opinion he has some of the bluest & most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen). If you’re that much of a snowflake though that you can’t even stand for someone to be complemented, then I’d suggest you leave UA-cam ASAP to work on your mental health... and maybe also get a job... and while you’re at it, also formulate a plan to get moved out of your mom’s basement... Here’s something else for you to ponder while you embark on your daily trolling: It is possible to be a kind and decent human being, if for no other reason than attempting to care for someone more than yourself-even when that someone is a stranger. Having a shred of empathy works too, which is as simple as imagining yourself in someone else’s shoes and reminding yourself that “there but for the grace of God, go I”. Though not in the Bible itself, it is one of the oldest & best lessons to be learned from a belief in God & in His sovereignty (though now you’ll probably tell me to eat shit & die for bringing my beliefs into things too). The moral to this story? I urge you to try showing love & spreading kindness for once instead of wasting your life away by trolling people you don’t even know... and as for hatred? It really will rot you from the inside out and you’ll die all alone & unloved, without a single miserable person who can stand to be in your presence... except for maybe all the other lonely trolls out there... 😜

bishes be mad That’s a dumbass statement for multiple reasons. First of all, it’s transphobic, which is already dumb enough, it’s 2019, we exist, get over it. Also, have you seen every single trans woman on this planet? Exactly, not every trans woman looks like that one sad old trans woman that you saw that one time at the grocery store. There are a fuckton of of drop dead gorgeous trans women out there. Do your research before you decide to be a dumbass, please come prepared next time

It is wonderful to hear from a young man who has really done some soul searching and evaluating who he is. Thank you for your honesty. Am hopeful that you will have a positive influence on others. Thank you.

aaaand that's why doctors need to diagnose the actual gender dysphoria before having any right to prescribe hormones for someone. It's a solution for people with actual mental state of gender dysphoria, not just "aahhhh I love/am interested in things that are stereotypically not of my gender soooo I guess imma girl now"
and this is also why trans activists should stop pushing their agenda on kids and teens, their bodies are not developed yet and hormones can harm them, and besides, almost every teen kinds hates their body at some point.
Congrats to you boyee for figuring things out for urself, you can do whatever the heck you want in the way of expressing urself, it doesn't make you less of a boy (which is just a biological fact and actually doesn't mean anything)

Generally speaking, doctors are supposed to diagnose a patient with gender dysphoria first and then have them go through months of therapy before being allowed to transition. This is generally the ethical way of going about things. I wonder what the doctor was thinking. All of that said, most of the effects of hormones are reversible once you stop taking them, depending on how long you've been on them before. (P.S. I'm a med student planning on going into psychiatry or endocrinology)

NO hormones are given to teenagers or kids. Those "hormones" are called hormone blockers which actually slow down the arrival of puberty, thus it means NOT changing the body.

Hermy Frances - I just wonder how many more people are going through this, the transitioning and de-transitioning... Kids are inherently impressionable and growing up on the Internet, they're surrounded by the "trans movement" I guess you could say. When I was a kid, I was a tomboy. I grew up with 2 brothers and I liked playing with mud instead of barbies. Having cuts, bruises & stitches from being rough (but also clumsy lol). I didn't like wearing dresses or getting dressed up. Nowadays, would I think of myself as Transgender ? I don't know. All I know is: I don't want kids, teenagers, or anyone in general to have to go through what the dude in the video went through...

You are a smart man. I'm happy that you actually thought about your feelings and understood that you can be you while still being you. I'm also happy to hear that you thought about the higher power. People don't think about that anymore and do things that we probably shouldn't (so many things in life not related to this video). But I'm happy for you

Wow, I really appreciate your sincerity. Personally, I have struggled with loving and accepting myself and feeling that I have no community and it is good to hear from other genuine people.
