Road Rage is probably my favorite of the more obscure characters because of her paradoxical name and bio a la a tamer Jekyll and Hyde of being cultured as a robot and a brute as a car. I can’t recall any other character that has that drastic a change between a Transformer and their vehicle.
@@windsweeper8002 Fall of Cybertron Grimlock had a similar thing, where his transformations were seemingly triggered by rage. Not 100% the same but maybe a bit closer to the original character?
@@OtakuUnitedStudio oh yes. I'd forgotten that. Similar again was Savage/Noble in Beast Machines. Also in Dreamwave More Than Meets The Eye, Skullgrin was a highly intelligent but rigid soldier. His Pretender shell had a program that turned him into a raging berserker once he was inside it.
Cyberverse Grimlock is thoughtful, intelligent, cultured and well-spoken in his robot mode...then becomes ME GRIMLOCK ME SMASH in his t-rex mode. It's a fantastic version of him.

Tracks has always been a unique favorite of mine, right down to their alt mode, as he is one of the few double-changers that doesn't turn into a completely different vehicle. Rather his flight mode is an extension of their car mode, and I love it. And now that I learned of Tracks' female counterpart, I wonder if there were more half double-changers living on Cybertron. Maybe they lived as a small colony? who knows?
I really love how Masterpiece Road Rage feels like a "Floro Dery" version of the Diaclone toy - like she's based on the G1 cartoon character model that never was.

Thanks, Chris McFeely, for giving some background info on Road Rage! Looking into her stories and personality instantly made her another favorite female Autobot of mine next to Arcee, Elita-One and a few others. I think she has great potential of being a new main cast member of Optimus Prime’s team in the future, where she could be characterized as being the adrenaline junkie go-getter of the group, who is loyal, driven, tough-as-nails, never leaves her teammates behind, and can play by rules she feels are fair, just and reasonable, not the ones that are the other way around.

However, I can see how the old G1 cartoon was clearly trying to target a young male demographic, so that's there's so few of the females back then! 😅 But yeah, I like how we're getting more females in the main cast these days. I also think ts pretty interesting when previous established male characters can be made females like in animated and cyberverse, and they're still interesting and fun Characters regardless. 👍🏻 very cool ideas there!

One interesting thing I’ve learned about the making of the (controversial) 80’s Transformers animated film is that when Arcee was created to be a leading female Autobot, the filmmakers did it just to not make the picture appear sexist. I was surprised by this just because I’ve watched Michael Bay’s Transformers when I was younger, and I had no idea about its controversies neither then.
I've always seen Road Rage as a potential base for a custom Shattered Glass Turbo Tracks (as Hasbro lost the rights to the name Tracks at the time). All you need to do is replace the red Autobot logo with a purple one and you're pretty much done.
@@mistylover7398 Here's a quick lesson on Transformers Shattered Glass: In that universe, the Autobots are the bad guys and the Decepticons are the good guys. That's why the Autobot badge is purple, and the Decepticon badge is red in that universe.

When I first learned of Roadrage, it was off an Ebay listing where they had her MP figure Reprolabled up as a Decepticon. I looked up the character because I didn't know who they were and found out they were a girl, and since I didn't look further I just didn't realize they weren't a Decepticon. Since I wanted more Decepticon girls I decided to pick her up. I searched around for a Good price and found it for 40 bucks on BBTS. It turns out it was the same one from the Ebay Listing, I didn't know BBTS sold used figures. Anyways I got it, and thought it was weird that an MP had Stickers, but didn't realize they weren't stock. So I believed for a Very long time that they were a Con. I like her as a Bot in the Comics, but there is no denying I wish she was a con like my initial impressions of her. The Baddies need more girls.
I honestly just see Road Rage as a Transformer version of DJ Stryker/DJ Atomika from the Burnout series of games. (For obvious reasons, of course, considering there's a mode in those games called Road Rage) Also hello again Perspective!
Thank you very much for this video. After watching this I realised that my Masterpiece Road Rage and XTB "Crosscut" had been tragically separated in my display. They are now together again.
My first encounter with road rage came when I was commissioned to build a collection of 200 Lego Transformers. After hitting 170 I desperately began searching for viable retools and repaints of existing designs. I haven't reviewed it on my channel yet but she's coming! This channel has been and still is a HUGE contribution to my builds' inspirations. Long time fan!

I found out about Road Rage through another fan pointing me in her direction after I'd been having some fun playing with making a human adaptation of the Tracks and Needlenose subplot from the 2005 IDW. I fell in love with her quickly afterwards.
I only found out about her in 2021 and due to my fondness for obscure characters such as like Soundblaster, Twincast, and the Pirate Seacons, I ended up buying both her MP and Kingdom figures and I love both dearly although I’ll admit that the kingdom figure is very much flawed. I even preordered MP Crosscut as soon as I found out it was being revealed because I’m a sucker for pairings. So now I’ll shall patiently wait for a legacy Crosscut and hope he’ll either be main line release or a gen select. In the meantime I also plan on tracking down those 2002 releases as well. First because I think they look great and second because I have a very strong need to collect things that came out in 2002 as that’s when I was born. Wait so that makes me as old as Road rage and crosscut. Damn that realization just hit me. Anyways Happy New Year’s!
Back in the 1980ies i bought tracks and it was the red variant so red tracks is part of my childhood, i also had blue and yellow cliff jumper plus red and blue bumblebee, so i had couple of very odd paintjob transformers also think the rarest is my blue hoist.
I didn't even know who Road Rage was when I found and bought her Masterpiece figure at a convention. I just already bought MP Tracks because I love the corvette and I love flame decos on vehicles. When I saw Road Rage sat on a dealer's shelf for not a lot of money I grabbed her immediately, and now she's one of my favorite things in my collection. I almost want to track down Loudpedal. That and tough female characters are my favorite. That being said, I wonder if Takara will release a version of her that's closer to her Takara Legends appearance.... for research of course.
If only Hasbro take more risks with the obscures characters of Transformers, if only they take the risk to produce new series with this characters could give a boost to the franchise
I've always thought of tracks and road rage as 2.5 changers since they have one vehicle mode when robot mode a sort of in-between mode or special vehicle mode which is basically their standard vehicle mode with upgrades like a flight mode. making it sort of another vehicle mode but not completely more like a half over vehicle mode since the vehicle myself is mostly intact it just changed 1 aspect.
Road Rage is one of my most favorite Obscure Transformers characters who is also one of my favorite Autobots who transforms from robot to car and back and a very successful bodyguard also thanks for sharing Chris and have a Happy New Year🎊🎉🎁🎆🎊🎉👊💪☺☺☺

I literally picked up her master pice from a convention because she’s all I could afford and she started my collection of characters, literally knew nothing about them and thought they looked better in red and white than tracks in blue with his red face

The positioning of that red Tracks in the artwork, the way it was swinging around, made it confusing as to which side it was on, but I'm happy to see she became a character in her own right. Only problem, I think there's too many Autobots with the red-blue combo.
01:14 Red Tracks and Blue Tracks are BOTH on the Japanese 1985 Box Art. Some have suggsted that the Diaclone Stringray was desgined specically for the US Market, either for the Diakron line, or due to Takara's partnership with Hasbro.
Tracks is a top 3 G1 autobot for me, that corvette pops in either red or blue paint. I laugh when showing the originals to the young'unsc but I ate up his character in my own youth. Market research nailed it when they launched him. I only discovered road rage through the masterpiece line, thoroughly confused by the appearance of different colored corvettes and Datsuns'. I must say given the indifference to gender I picture within the ranks of autobots, I support expanding the diversity of storytelling with the addition of solid female talent.
Great video and one of my favourite figures of 2021. Despite seeing that box art back in the 80s, it's only in recent years did I realise there's also a blue Tracks in the background of that battle scene. For the longest time I mistook it for Topspin. Happy New Year Mr McFeely
Would love to see a video about the Omnibots; Camshaft, Downshift, and Overdrive, if you haven't done one yet, those were obscure figures since they were only available as mail away's I think.
And the Powerdashers! There's hardly a group more obscure than them, they didn't even get any characterization until the Dreamwave comics... which they only had one panel of screentime in. To this day, they haven't had any proper fleshing out, despite new toys in the WFC Trilogy toyline. The original Powerdashers hold the distinction of being the first Transformers toys to feature Cybertronian vehicle modes. They also originally had pull-back motors.
Road Rage has driven her way into popularity, and hopefully she will not suffer from...err...well...road rage on her pathway to fame with Transformers fans.
Just got her figure and I am thrilled. I like this character so much better than Tracks. It's actually a toss up between her and Flame-War for my favorate obscure female TF characters. ....Now to hopefully get my hands on the new Flame War figure.... Gotta love Hasbro's new business model to make 40% of every line some sort of store/online exclusive 🙄

Because Optimus Prime was in that form before he ever became Autobot leader. The Matrix didn't change him, just like it didn't change Ultra Magnus. It changed Hot Rod because that was a matter of destiny. Hot Rod was supposed to be a boy.....the Matrix matured him instantly.
This is explained quite quickly: in the War Dawn episode, the Aerialbots are sent to Cybertron's distant past, still during the Golden Age. There they meet Orion Pax, who works as a dockworker with his girlfriend Ariel and his best friend Dion. They have already heard about the Decepticons, but Orion dismisses these as rumors and is more impressed by the unusual ability of this group, that they can fly. As luck would have it, Megatron comes to the docks and asks Orion what is being stored. The answer Energon pleases Megatron and he wounds the dock workers Orion, Dion and Ariel. The Aerialbots are looking for someone who can repair Orion and meet Alpha Trion. He repairs the badly wounded Orion, who reappears a little later as Optimus Prime and puts Megatron to flight. Long story short: Optimus Prime is Orion Pax after an extensive repair and physical upgrade. Rodimus Prime, on the other hand, is just Hot Rod who got a temporary power up through the Matrix.

Very interesting. I had misremembered this character from when I first discovered the European Transformers. Its fascinating to see how these oddities in the toyline blossom into such interesting characters.
I have that European red Tracks. Was given to me by my cousin when he 'grew' out of toys. Tracks (and by extension Roadrage) became one of my favorite Transformers. Back then you were so used to strange changes between toys, animation models, and comic characters that I just assumed there wasn't ever a blue Tracks released. Much later I realized my red Tracks was a bit of an oddity. He's a bit beat-up from much play, so I was really happy when Roadrage started getting figures.
I honestly just thought she was a simple recolor of Tracks when I learned of her via the MP line till I read into it and saw she was a completely independent character from him. I am really happy Road Rage has been brought back up from Hasbro in Kingdom along with IDW.
Road-rage is the female counterpart to Tracks who is a male version. You know they are twins, right? Tracks is the First Triple-Changer to appear on the cartoon.
Though while Road Rage has get new toy and featured in new TF IDW, how long it's gonna take for her to make jump in TV. Never the less, neat way to kick start 2022 with this female Autobot.
I don't think so. Computron, although not having as much overall usage as the other Autobot combiners, definitely has had a good bit of appearances in overall Transformers media, even appearing in quite a few episodes of the G1 animated series. Probability of Computron being considered as a candidate for Obscure Characters Month: 13.2228%
Animated Road Rage Update: in 2022 Bot Con held another comedic script reading featuring road rage and this time tracks. this time depicting the later as being an unfortunate victim of goo engineered by the Mad scientist: Meltdown. In which road rage became as the name implies: a quick to temper eager to go road freak. eager to get into a fight and not afraid to cause some property damage if need be. whereas tracks Is the calm collected one. the pair where eventually separated via the efforts of blackarachnia and Metalhawk (who was depicted this time as having masterforce tech just like his Japanese counterpart and had a human disguise named Mr. hawk) but at the cost of the Laters life. the newly separated pair not knowing it Was blackarachnia herself that killed metalhawk by darning all of his spark energy to separate the two, after he had offered to donate a small portion to the process.
There's over 40 female Transformers at this point. Beast Wars Sonar along with G1 Micromasters Oiler and Slide have also been made retroactively female in various fictions.

I made a Road Rage design based on her Kingdom toy and characterised her like the original, serving as a body guard for any non combatant bot. I later made a second design based on some armored Chevy after being told I need to make her more unique, so in universe it would be a Unicron Trilogy style destruction to upgrade (except very slowly becuz I decided that TFs scanning an alt mode would be in stasis and unable to act until the kibble has finished configuring),and also sacked her flight mode and vehicle mode issues becuz I found it dumb to have such a trait, and another comment implied it's sexist
Interesting. I'm probably going to cut the vehicle modes issues too, but not her flight mode. I'm gonna make her Tracks' sister, close with him at first until the war physically separated them. While Tracks becomes part of the Autobot army and later fights it out on Earth, Road Rage travels the galaxy before winding up in an all-female Transformers squad led by Elita One.
I actually first discovered Road Rage via Fanart, at first I thought she was just some generic Autobot OC. And THEN I looked at her Tfwiki page and immediately became a fan.
Seeing the old Transformers Animated designs hits a little different after DJW's passing.

Closest in the Jekyll and Hyde portrayal is probably Cyberverse Grimlock.
Vehicles, rarely. It's only ever the case if it's something like a beast mode or an alternate humanoid mode.

If you want more transformers with mini alt-modes then the only other ones I can think of would be the transmetals from beast wars.

As a kid, I always wondered why Tracks was red on the box art.
Back in the 1980ies i bought tracks and it was the red variant so red tracks is part of my childhood, i also had blue and yellow cliff jumper plus red and blue bumblebee, so i had couple of very odd paintjob transformers also think the rarest is my blue hoist.
I didn't even know who Road Rage was when I found and bought her Masterpiece figure at a convention. I just already bought MP Tracks because I love the corvette and I love flame decos on vehicles. When I saw Road Rage sat on a dealer's shelf for not a lot of money I grabbed her immediately, and now she's one of my favorite things in my collection. I almost want to track down Loudpedal. That and tough female characters are my favorite.
That being said, I wonder if Takara will release a version of her that's closer to her Takara Legends appearance.... for research of course.
G1 Road Rage probably makes up for why the female G1 cartoon Autobots are not officially canon in the original G1 toyline.
If only Hasbro take more risks with the obscures characters of Transformers, if only they take the risk to produce new series with this characters could give a boost to the franchise

I've always thought of tracks and road rage as 2.5 changers since they have one vehicle mode when robot mode a sort of in-between mode or special vehicle mode which is basically their standard vehicle mode with upgrades like a flight mode. making it sort of another vehicle mode but not completely more like a half over vehicle mode since the vehicle myself is mostly intact it just changed 1 aspect.
Road Rage is one of my most favorite Obscure Transformers characters who is also one of my favorite Autobots who transforms from robot to car and back and a very successful bodyguard also thanks for sharing Chris and have a Happy New Year🎊🎉🎁🎆🎊🎉👊💪☺☺☺

The positioning of that red Tracks in the artwork, the way it was swinging around, made it confusing as to which side it was on, but I'm happy to see she became a character in her own right. Only problem, I think there's too many Autobots with the red-blue combo.
has anyone else noticed there are more fembots than femcons? we need to even out some more bad girls, but thats just me.

More femcons would also go some way to address the shortfall in Decepticons overall.
01:14 Red Tracks and Blue Tracks are BOTH on the Japanese 1985 Box Art. Some have suggsted that the Diaclone Stringray was desgined specically for the US Market, either for the Diakron line, or due to Takara's partnership with Hasbro.
Tracks is a top 3 G1 autobot for me, that corvette pops in either red or blue paint. I laugh when showing the originals to the young'unsc but I ate up his character in my own youth. Market research nailed it when they launched him. I only discovered road rage through the masterpiece line, thoroughly confused by the appearance of different colored corvettes and Datsuns'. I must say given the indifference to gender I picture within the ranks of autobots, I support expanding the diversity of storytelling with the addition of solid female talent.
I am fortunate enough to actually own the original Diaclone of this figure and it remains one of my most treasured collection pieces.

Despite seeing that box art back in the 80s, it's only in recent years did I realise there's also a blue Tracks in the background of that battle scene. For the longest time I mistook it for Topspin.

Would love to see a video about the Omnibots; Camshaft, Downshift, and Overdrive, if you haven't done one yet, those were obscure figures since they were only available as mail away's I think.
Yes, I had Overdrive and he was like Tracks and Road Rage with a flying car mode with flip out wings and guns.
And the Powerdashers!
There's hardly a group more obscure than them, they didn't even get any characterization until the Dreamwave comics... which they only had one panel of screentime in. To this day, they haven't had any proper fleshing out, despite new toys in the WFC Trilogy toyline.
The original Powerdashers hold the distinction of being the first Transformers toys to feature Cybertronian vehicle modes. They also originally had pull-back motors.
And i hope omnibots get a brand new toys

Road Rage has driven her way into popularity, and hopefully she will not suffer from...err...well...road rage on her pathway to fame with Transformers fans.

My absolute favourite tf character
Just got her figure and I am thrilled. I like this character so much better than Tracks. It's actually a toss up between her and Flame-War for my favorate obscure female TF characters.
....Now to hopefully get my hands on the new Flame War figure.... Gotta love Hasbro's new business model to make 40% of every line some sort of store/online exclusive 🙄
I don't know if anyone's commented on this yet, but Crosscut is a recolor of the Nissan City Turbo figure that would become the Autobot, Skids.

Because Optimus Prime was in that form before he ever became Autobot leader. The Matrix didn't change him, just like it didn't change Ultra Magnus. It changed Hot Rod because that was a matter of destiny. Hot Rod was supposed to be a boy.....the Matrix matured him instantly.
This is explained quite quickly: in the War Dawn episode, the Aerialbots are sent to Cybertron's distant past, still during the Golden Age. There they meet Orion Pax, who works as a dockworker with his girlfriend Ariel and his best friend Dion. They have already heard about the Decepticons, but Orion dismisses these as rumors and is more impressed by the unusual ability of this group, that they can fly. As luck would have it, Megatron comes to the docks and asks Orion what is being stored. The answer Energon pleases Megatron and he wounds the dock workers Orion, Dion and Ariel. The Aerialbots are looking for someone who can repair Orion and meet Alpha Trion. He repairs the badly wounded Orion, who reappears a little later as Optimus Prime and puts Megatron to flight.
Long story short: Optimus Prime is Orion Pax after an extensive repair and physical upgrade. Rodimus Prime, on the other hand, is just Hot Rod who got a temporary power up through the Matrix.
I’m fixing up a red 1976 corvette stingray and named it road rage. I’m just now seeing that there’s actually a tf named road rage. That’s awesome

Very interesting. I had misremembered this character from when I first discovered the European Transformers. Its fascinating to see how these oddities in the toyline blossom into such interesting characters.

I was introduced to her as part of the Masterpiece toy line. I love the little sculpt changes they made to the MP Tracks.
Recently got Legacy Crosscut for my birthday, and now I’m probably gonna save up for Kingdom Road Rage to complete the duo!
I have that European red Tracks. Was given to me by my cousin when he 'grew' out of toys. Tracks (and by extension Roadrage) became one of my favorite Transformers. Back then you were so used to strange changes between toys, animation models, and comic characters that I just assumed there wasn't ever a blue Tracks released. Much later I realized my red Tracks was a bit of an oddity. He's a bit beat-up from much play, so I was really happy when Roadrage started getting figures.

I honestly just thought she was a simple recolor of Tracks when I learned of her via the MP line till I read into it and saw she was a completely independent character from him.
I am really happy Road Rage has been brought back up from Hasbro in Kingdom along with IDW.

Road-rage is the female counterpart to Tracks who is a male version. You know they are twins, right? Tracks is the First Triple-Changer to appear on the cartoon.
Though while Road Rage has get new toy and featured in new TF IDW, how long it's gonna take for her to make jump in TV. Never the less, neat way to kick start 2022 with this female Autobot.
The name might be an issue given how road rage is a real, problematic thing. A name change may be in order if she were to make the jump.

I don't think so. Computron, although not having as much overall usage as the other Autobot combiners, definitely has had a good bit of appearances in overall Transformers media, even appearing in quite a few episodes of the G1 animated series.

Animated Road Rage Update: in 2022 Bot Con held another comedic script reading featuring road rage and this time tracks. this time depicting the later as being an unfortunate victim of goo engineered by the Mad scientist: Meltdown. In which road rage became as the name implies: a quick to temper eager to go road freak. eager to get into a fight and not afraid to cause some property damage if need be. whereas tracks Is the calm collected one. the pair where eventually separated via the efforts of blackarachnia and Metalhawk (who was depicted this time as having masterforce tech just like his Japanese counterpart and had a human disguise named Mr. hawk) but at the cost of the Laters life. the newly separated pair not knowing it Was blackarachnia herself that killed metalhawk by darning all of his spark energy to separate the two, after he had offered to donate a small portion to the process.

It is so awesome how many female characters are getting recognition over the last 5-6 years. Road Rage is just awesome!
There's over 40 female Transformers at this point. Beast Wars Sonar along with G1 Micromasters Oiler and Slide have also been made retroactively female in various fictions.

I think I might strengthen the connection between Road Rage and Tracks in my fanfiction when she comes along in it.
I made a Road Rage design based on her Kingdom toy and characterised her like the original, serving as a body guard for any non combatant bot. I later made a second design based on some armored Chevy after being told I need to make her more unique, so in universe it would be a Unicron Trilogy style destruction to upgrade (except very slowly becuz I decided that TFs scanning an alt mode would be in stasis and unable to act until the kibble has finished configuring),and also sacked her flight mode and vehicle mode issues becuz I found it dumb to have such a trait, and another comment implied it's sexist
Interesting. I'm probably going to cut the vehicle modes issues too, but not her flight mode. I'm gonna make her Tracks' sister, close with him at first until the war physically separated them. While Tracks becomes part of the Autobot army and later fights it out on Earth, Road Rage travels the galaxy before winding up in an all-female Transformers squad led by Elita One.
I actually first discovered Road Rage via Fanart, at first I thought she was just some generic Autobot OC.
And THEN I looked at her Tfwiki page and immediately became a fan.
