Wow! Great tutorial. I absolutely love it! So pretty.
If you save the original fabric from the chair you could use it to make pattern so you know where to snip. And it will also save you a ton of energy but great chair!
I just found 2 Beautiful Wingback chairs that I am going to redo for the first time... cant wait to post my video
..thx for your honest tutorial
I absolutely love everything about how this chair turned out. The deconstructed look is quite trendy right now. I’m definitely learning a lot from you. Thank you for such great tutorials🌹🌹🌹
This has been one of my favorite projects.
Amazing!!!
I love the deconstructed look and you did a great job explaining the technique involved. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
I like learning how you reupholster different pieces of furniture. I have a love seat I'd like to tackle when I get up enough nerve. It's either that or buy a new one and that could get expensive.😬👍❤️
Great tutorial!!! I've got 2 vintage chairs I bought from a friend and they have great bones but I had to strip them all the way down. The old burlap was almost dust. I've gotten hung up on needing to tie the old springs...but I'll get there. Your videos have been so helpful....thanks!!!
I Love, Love, Love this chair. Super Cute!!
Really gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing some tips and tricks! I am reuppolstering a French Provincial couch set from 1902 and am looking for ideas!
Such a nice chair. You did a beautiful job covering it.
This is one of the nicest deconstructed chairs that I have seen. I'm nearly finished doing a chair and I will post before and after pics in your FB page when I finish it. I was going to attempt a tufted back on it but I might have a look for a grainsack instead.
Can’t wait to see it!
Love it. Great job! You have such great tutorials, I think I could tackle it myself! Thanks!
Thank you!
I love how you didn't measure and you made do with what you had, as this is very realistic for most of us. As far as Zeb never being taught the "proper" way to reupholster, I think everything you guys made is fantastic!
Thanks!
Didn’t know I needed that chair until just now. I do wish there was a ballpark amount of fabric used. But no matter. Loved it all. Great job
I used an old grain sack on the back, but my bumper guess if you were going to purchase all the fabric would be about 4 to 4-1/2 yards of fabric.
Love!!! I am reupholstering a chair this week and I was dying to watch this!! Great job!!
Thanks! We’d love to see the chair when it’s done. Are you in our Jami Ray Vintage group on Facebook? It’s a group for posting things you’ve worked on and getting refinishing ideas. 👍
The chairs stuning xx
Thanks! It’s my favorite I’ve done so far. 😊
Turned out great!
💯😍Love the deconstructed chair! I hope you have a wonderful staycation this weekend. 🌻
Thanks Kim!
It turned out so great!!
Thank you!
Really pretty. I love all the fabric choices.
❤️❤️❤️ This is so cool. I’ve never seen or even heard of a deconstructed chair. It turned out fantastic!!! Awesome job
I've gotta tell you, although educational , you guys are so fun to watch
Thank you! We try to keep it upbeat while we show how we do things. 👍
I love it! Great job!👍🏻 I agree guys... you did save this chair by upcycling it. What a great price too. 👏🏼
Thank you!
Awwww sommme!!!! Gorgeous chair.. and you look really beautiful in aqua.. that is sooo your color!!!
Awww. Thank you!

Holly Molly great video
Love it Love it Love it!!!!! yay!
So awesome!
I love this!! I have 2 chairs that are in my breakfast nook that I want to do this to. :) You guys are awesome!!
Jealous! I’m having the hardest time finding another chair to go with the one I did!
Love the chair, I really like DIYs. The deconstructed part is cool but there are parts that for my taste and mild OCD won't work😁. Still love the fabric combination you used and the trim is on point. Thanks for sharing all the details, appreciated.
I love this❤️ Great job y'all!
Thanks!
Very cool!
Very cool. Thanks ❤️
I am not sure what I think about this. I have never seen this style here in SE NC. We have lots of 1800's -1900's historical homes so there are plenty of formal chairs that have faded fabric. I would have to work up the nerve!! Thanks for the inspiration!
I sometimes wish I lived farther east. Sometimes pickins are really slim out west here.
I'm from NC too and I was thinking the same thing I'm not sure what I think about it I'm more in the Piedmont area . I thought the front looked nice .
It's so beautiful! I love it 😍
Thanks!
😍Love it
Looks great!
Love your tutorials..love it!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing, love it!!!
Great job!
Thanks!
I love U!! haha your just like me! Im and doing the same thing attaching the seats to the piece. Your the first person I have seen on youtube do this! thanks for doing the video.
Some people don’t like it this way but I find it looks great and holds together just fine. 👍❤️
OMG!! Love love love!!!❤️
Jami you look beautiful in this video even your nail’s look nice 👍 I know the painting and some of the other work you do it’s not easy to look so beautiful as u look now! Your beautiful on the inside also 💗. I’ve never seen or heard of doing a chair like this but it’s cute and really goes with your look downstairs. Good luck finding another chair🙏🏻 I’m anxious to see the den finished know it’s going to look good ✌🏻
You’re so sweet! Thank you! ❤️❤️
Luv ❤️
Love it!
Wow.
Lmao! Zeb was done with the internet trolls today! 😂😂 love y'all! 🙌🙌 and the chair looks awesome! ❤❤

That is ok! :D
Bahahaahha, I loved it! Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks!
will try
This is incredible! Have you guys ever thought about doing workshops? I'd say people would love to learn from you in person!
We’ve done a few painting classes. Our schedule is usually too crazy to work them in on a regular basis.
Thanks for the reply! You've really given me so inspiration and confidence to be able to work on my own furniture. Love your videos
Love this!! Where do you buy the grain sacks? I’ve googled but can only find the burlap kind 😞
Popsicle stick works great for not burning your fingers
I was looking for help on cutting the the fabric in the back corners of the seat to be able to pull it to the back and sides because that's the difficult cut. I know you cut at an angle and then a "Y" at the corners but I keep messing it up and am running out of fabric! You do a great job of showing how to cut for the front sides, but you did not include how you cut for the back corners of the seat. Do you have any hints or videos of that?
Great job1 Use a kitchen knife to push down trim. No burned fingers!
Awesome Tip!! Thank you!
Excellent video! You made it look so easy. I have an upholstered chair that I painted with Dixie Belle chalk paint. I want to add some patches to the chair. I have a cute stencil that I want to stencil on a scrap of fabric then attach it to the chair. Do you have a recommendation of how to attach that fabric to the chair? Spray adhesive, wonder under, gorilla glue sticks? I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks so much!
What size grain sack did ya'll use? Where do you get them from? What a great idea!! I have a large wing back chair I'm going to attempt to do on my own 😬😬😬
I know it’s been 5yrs since this was made but I’m just now getting able to this. I’m wanting to know if you are using finish nails in the gun?
They are 18 gauge staples
AWESOME CHAIR!!! Where did you get the fabulous patterned area rug in your living room? What brand and color please and thank you!!!
Nice look. You need to invest in a really sharp craft knife to make cutting the fabric easier. It gets much closer than scissors. They sell silicon finger guards and such to protect you from the hot glue, or you can just use a silicon spatula. This particular look is not my style, but I do like the fabric choices.
Thanks for the tips!
Looks good, nice one... different question, what did you decide in the end, 2 couches or couch and chairs for you upstairs sitting room? 😊🇬🇧
Upstairs we have the couch and then we got two chairs to match it.
Beautiful, how much fabric do you use?
So, can't you kinda use the fabric taken off as a template? I am just saying maybe easier.😕
Sure can! But you usually have to pull each staple out individually so you don’t rip the fabric up. We’ve found that takes way more time and effort than just trimming to fit afterward.
I really like it! You're so lucky to have so many of the vintage grain sacks! I can never find ones reasonably priced
Amazing, have you ever painted fabric chair.?
Yes, an old rocking chair with watered down DIY paint.
Hey Zeb and Jami, wonderful job, and beutiful chair. I love the authentic grain sac. Did you use ticking stripe fabric?
Yes. We got the ticking stripe at hobby lobby.
your video gives me confidence to start my project. I have a wingback chair in white (dirtyyyy). How much fabric you had to buy?
I used 6x9’ dropcloth from Walmart and about 2 yards of ticking stripe for the rest.
Beautiful, Jami where did you find thus really neat feed sack ? Great job guys 🤗💕
I found a supplier back east that lets me know when she comes across some every now and then. I usually keep a few in my shop. If you’re interested I can get you the shop info and they can text you pictures of what I have available. Shipping is 6.95 to most places in the US
Jami Ray Vintage thank you that'd be awesome 🤗💕
+Gina Diefenbach the shop number is 801-653-9919 they are open 10-5 tomorrow. If you buy one just pm me on fb to arrange shipping.
Oh I love this feed sack also, I would love the shop info if you don't mind. :)

I've loved deconstructed chairs for a few yrs now. And I'm with zeb I won't use the trim . But I do love the trim you used for this chair, and fabric choice. Is it ticking fabric? I love it .. And it's very durable.. Jami you did a fantastic job.I have a chair In need of a face lift and I'm so doing this. My family is going to flip because I know they aren't going to like it but I don't care... I do...lol tf all the TiPs.. Hugs Deb
Zeb would totally do exposed beams and heavy leather furniture with these deconstructed wingback chairs all over the house! This is our happy compromise because I can put a grain sack on them and pass it off as farmhouse! 😂
Jami Ray Vintage Oh I get you. Wanting to compromise! And who knows maybe once I do start it I might change my mind. My chair has springs in the back and bottom of the seat. I'm alittle nervous but if it doesn't look right I'll just recover it . I already did once with drop cloth and it's getting dirty on the arms and head, so time for a change. I don't have any grain sacks . Would so love to use that. It's an over stuffed chair that I got thrifting for 15.00 bucks. I will have to wait until the weather break's cause I painted the arms and legs ...I'd like to go back to the wood . Thanks! You
Did you get the fabric that you used to reupholster the wing chair at Hobie Lobby?
Yes
Hey lovely, it might have been noted already, but how much fabric was used on this? And if you have it on hand just a full wingback chair yardage! Thanks in advance!
I used a 6x9’ drop cloth I purchased at Walmart and the grain sack. If I had to guess I used about 3 yards since I left it deconstructed.
😍
Hey Jami and zeb!! I have a question😀 first off I was soooo inspired by this chair I went out and found a matching pair, exactly like y’alls for $40!!😱I found 5 grain sacks on Etsy for $50 whoop whoop! They are the Bemis seamless ones though, i could not find the one like yours anywhere! But anyways, this is my FIRST time upholstering a chair in my life, I’m pretty much done, the only thing left is stapling the fabric on the back two vertical wood pieces (and the trim). That’s where I realized the fabric I got is not the same as yours...I got a ticking stripe fabric but mine is stark white on the back side and it looks like yours is printed on both sides....?? I think my fabric is “duck fabric”...I’m kind of sad because now when I go to staple the fabric on the wood on the back of the chair, it shows white instead of the stripes like yours 😭 this is just the first chair so I’d like to use the same fabric as you on 2nd...I’m selling one and keeping one ..oh and I got my fabric at hobby lobby too..if you could steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!!!! but sorry for the year long message!😄I watch EVERY SINGLE one of y’alls videos! Y’all have inspired me soooooo much on all of my projects AND house updates! Hope to here from you!
Bethanee
Mine wasn't the Duck cloth if I remember right, it was a lighter weight material. I'll have to try and remember to look next time I'm at hobby lobby. I can't find the receipt and can't recall.
What do you use to Scotchguard the fabric with. I know Scotchguard makes various sprays. I am not sure what will provide the best protection. Any advice wouod be great. The chair looks so great. You 2 are a great team. Could I also use that Scotchguard to protect different fabrics and materials that are used on shoes.
How many yards did you buy of the striped fabric?
I think 4 yards so I could have some extra
Where’s the skirt on the bottom?
How many yards of fabric did you use for this chair?
I used an old grain sack and approximately 5 yards of fabric.
Thank you I appreciate it!😊
Do you ever use scotch guard? Or something more natural to prevent stains
I use scotch guard.
Why not restore it?
This is the look I was going for. I’ve recovered chairs regularly before but I wanted this deconstructed look to go with my salvage decor in my basement.
There was nothing wrong with that chair to begin with. So sad you had to rip it apart.
J
Maybe a haaaaaaiiiiiir too polished for my taste, but it looks fantastic and this has been VERY informative. Thank you!
