    Way to make a awning last awhile longer Homie, I just bought a roll of black gorilla tape to reinforce mine where its seperating . Duct tape comes in
    all different colors also . Thanks for your helpful hints my friend .

    • @EddieAtLarge
      @EddieAtLarge  2 роки тому

      Hey Rob! I did see the different colors, but, nothing to match the top of ours, so, I just used the white. I’ve heard the gorilla tape is good stuff. Are you also going to try applying the super glue with it or just the tape?

    • @robhebbs7960
      @robhebbs7960 2 роки тому

      Well i like the idea of the super glue, I agree it would give added strength . Im going the whole distant of the awning which is twenty feet. Im half on the actual awning
      fabric and have on the heavy cloth strip that slides in the metal groove on the RV. It is getting thin there and i see light through the fabric. If i like how it holds up for
      the summer , maybe i will find a super glue i can brush on with a paint brush and put new tape over that .lol

    • @EddieAtLarge
      @EddieAtLarge  2 роки тому

      Hey Rob, that would be a LOT of superglue! I've heard Gorilla Tape is pretty good too. That might work better for you in your application. Not sure, but, guessing they might be using the same glue that is in their Gorilla superglue? Maybe just apply superglue in any areas that might seem like they would need added strength like the awning edges or areas that are really thin. Let us know how it works out for you. Good luck!

    Gorilla makes a white duck tape too and it's thick and waterproof.

    Our awning was getting little holes and micro tears...you could look up and see sun light poking through. I got a can of Flex Seal black spray and evenly sprayed it on the very top part that is exposed to the sun all day (I first used alcohol to clean the surface). I would NOT recommend this...a year later, the flex seal is chipping off. My next guess is the maybe get eternabond, like 6" or 8" width and run it across the whole area of the awning that is always exposed to the sun.
    Still debating.... Thanks for the info.

    What can I say. I’ve seen a lot of creative engineering in my days and if it works, don’t knock it.
    We had 25 mph winds down at Hole in the Wall. We did not feel the need to put our awning out.
    Does your trailer have the automatic retract when it gets windy?
    Like the ladder👍🏼. Might need to look at your product list.
    All that space and that guy’s right on top of you!!!
    Thanks Ed,
    Ram

      Hey David! lol We've had a ton of wind here and it kind of sneaks up on you, so, the awning has had plenty of tests and it's still holding strong! We do not have the auto retract. That would be a nice feature to have though. Glad you like the ladder. We love it. Nice to have both A frame and extension all in one. And yes, wish these people would know to give you some breathing room out here. HaHa. Again, nice meeting you folks the other day. Safe travels!

    Hey Ed! I have the straight version of that ladder. Didn't know they made a (little giant) version. I like the snake shirt. I got one too. Terlingua is a (not so) cool place.

    • @EddieAtLarge
      @EddieAtLarge  2 роки тому +1

      Hey John! When I first started looking for one of these ladders, I wanted the combo and couldn’t find it. I finally stumbled upon this one. It is awesome. Terlingua can be very cool as we found out last year when we got stuck there during the big Texas ice storm. It was down to 13F the one night. Love that town. Hope you’re doing well!

    This is a temporary fix at best. In my experience duct tape disintegrates rapidly (outdoors, a year at best) and super glue becomes 'crispy' and flakes off. Im currently searching for a permanent repair without having to replace all of the fabric. 😊 & Be brave.

    • @EddieAtLarge
      @EddieAtLarge  Рік тому +2

      Ours is still holding line a champ! I’m thinking most of it is making sure it is prepped and cleaned properly. Duct tape has not disintegrated either. Still looks good 👍🏻

      If you are referring to the color on the top, you can’t see it unless you’re up on the roof of the RV. The bottom blends in pretty good with the awning white.

    In a years time the duck tape deteriates and flakes apart, I know I have used it on my canopy. This is not a good fix unless you want to rip old tape off and retape every 1 to 2 years........look for a better fix, this is not a great idea
