Ray Steven's way of putting a song together was unique. My late father would listen to 67WMAQ out of Chicago. Pure classic country that I grew up on. Country singers nowadays are a dime a dozen. Very few really stand out. Tennessee Earney Ford was another favorite.
Love this song. I was 9 when it came out. He was on Nashville Now and said they were messing around in the studio, and he starting singing this with banjo, and the other instruments came in and played it perfect . On the 2nd time someone recorded it, and the rest is history. Very talented man. Serious or funny.
Ray Stevens , the most amazing entertainer ever. Was he an amazing singer/songwriter who was very funny, or was he an entertainer who had an incredible run of chart singles. By all accounts, a lovely man as well.
Elvis, by far the best singer and entertainer at the time. Everthing he touched turned to gold! He is still loved worldwide and will never be forgotten. 🥇🇿🇦🌍
I read they were warming up in the recording studio and someone started playing this. They messed with it for awhile and decided it was a keeper. Not sure if they expected it to become the hit it became.

Lockdown again UK but this cheers you up, I was 16, remember my family parked in a layby for a walk in Devon on holiday and this came on , absolutely magic
Love this sooo much and I always have!!! Not much this talented man can’t sing !! From silly Streak to Everything is beautiful. Love to listen to Ray !!
Oh wow... I was 16 when this song was a hit in my Country. I absolutely loved this song. So good to hear it again and see the singer perform it live. (🇿🇦🌍)
I was shocked when I heard this, it was so happy, so bright. I knew the standard version before this came out but when I heard that banjo and the tempo I thought what a masterpiece. Listen to the Johnny Mathis version, which is amazing, and then listen to this version. Ray sang some silly songs in his career but he also sang some of the truest American songs also.i'm going to play it again.
Something made me think of this, and I'm so glad to find this video. I found two other recordings of him singing this, but it was like they sped it up! Why do they do that?! Do they think we don't notice? Anyway, glad to find this. Very fun. Like going back in time. Love it.
even with his skinny ass and high notes exudes more machismo than many of today's men...and I grew up on 80s rap! wish I'd have caught on to country sooner...it took me growing up to like this stuff! LOL
@@sootikins It was televised. He mailed this one in. Listen to this, and cue up the single, then listen to both. Heck, hook em both up to a scope. You'll find they're identical even visually.
@@20alphabet I wasn't doubting it was lip synched. I was just questioning why Ray would do so when he clearly doesn't need to. And I guess you answered that - even Ray Stevens mails one in occasionally.
I cannot enthuse enough on how much I love this version of Misty. Everything about it is spot on. The vocal, the musicianship, the production. Superb
It reached no 2 here in the UK in 1975 and I've still got the 45 and still play it regularly.Great great song.

Another brilliant artist, Bought this single all those Decades ago,& still have it, This track like many more are
Timeless, God bless,
This song should be awarded the test-of-time award.. Just a simple masterpiece of music
Fantastic performance!!! 👍🏽
This song takes me back to the joyous summer of 1975 and still makes me feel like I am that same teenager every time I hear it.
From one McLaughlin to another...great memories 😂
2024 and still listening...I had this on 45....played the hell out of it
I have the 45 too and I love the song on the back also..."Sunshine" 💥💥

I thought the greatest entertainer was Dean Martin, or Sammy Davis Jr. 😄👍🎶🎼🎶🎼
He is still alive…

Loved him since I was a teen, I'm now nearly 63!
I had issues with my parents as a teenager. But we agreed on this guy. He was great.
What a genius take on a jazz classic this is. Even the purists surely wouldn't turn up their noses.
Just love this version....great 1975 memories for me❤
This is a great song
I can listen to this song forever! Always loved it!
1975 all over again...cheers.
Great song and great version!
I read they were warming up in the recording studio and someone started playing this. They messed with it for awhile and decided it was a keeper. Not sure if they expected it to become the hit it became.
Знаю эту песню с июня 1975 года...Восхищён этой кантри песней ..для меня это идеал стиля кантри...

This version reminds me of my great youth days. Thank you Ray, wherever you are. Greetings from Brazil.
Just absolutely totally brilliant ! 👏👏🥰
His best ever, love you Ray

Me, too. My parents had all of his records. As a kid, I grew up loving his music. But this was always my favorite.

Me too.
100%

Credit where credits due
Absolutely love this version .
So much fun ❤🎶
I had such a crush on him when I was young.
“…and a thousand violins begin to play…” and those fiddles come in! Great stuff!
Such a talented perfomer.........
Great song. Ray Stevens rocks
Fabulous track , I loved this and still do
Love it. Love it. Love him. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Stevens. Keep 'em coming. ❤
This is my favorite song from ray stevens
Would LOVE to know the make of banjo played. This happy tune has everything good that's possible!
Joy revisited! 💖💖💖

Wonderful ❤
My favorite best ever rendition of Misty. Do you get the idea I love it and Ray.
Always loved this version. Ray did a great job singing this too.
My favorite version of this song
Love this version!
He sung that bang on
Something made me think of this, and I'm so glad to find this video.

Brasil: parabéns linda música uma das melhores era da minha juventude tenho 57 anos hoje e ainda ouço semore
Wow! The best version!
Not sure he's lip-synching here--this sounds a lot more country than I recall. Is this the actual hit, or was this truly live?
To me, it sounds exactly like the recording. Undoubtedly lip-synched.
Class!!!!
so do i iove this song too but who sang the original

best cover ever
A Fantastic Version.
I was hooked when the streak came out. Been hooked ever since! Love all videos!
This is so good
My favorite “Misty”🎻
Wow. I'm only familiar with the Johnny Mathis version! This is GREAT! Love Johnny Mathis but, I'm totally digging this!😘👍
always loved you, Ray ! thanks for giving Misty to main stream.also still streakin today !!
What about the banjo player? how good was this
And he was invisible as well 👍😂
Con esa canción acababa de conocer a la que hoy es mi esposa
LOVE 46k
Thank you so much for sharing.
Love Love this song. My favorite. ❤❤❤❤
What program was this from? Thanks.❤
Problemas con esta grabación......gracias
I know it by Johnny Mathis and the late Sarah Vaughn, but Ray's is my fave ❤😊
Where are you Misty Sanders, Hot Springs (Ark.) ? (Alex)
Ned Luberecki on the banjo.
For me old buddy kev
Ah back when singers sounded the same in their recordings as they do live
Yep. So over autotune and multitracking for people who are shithouse singers. Ray has natural talent. :)
Really good cover that he's doing only added or changes a couple words
I’m a huge ray Steven’s fan but he’s clearly lipsticking. The Adam’s apple always tells the story. It’s not in sinc.
He's not singing live dumbass 😂
Great song but I'm sure he's lip syncing this performance
J.D. MANUS on brilliant pedal steel guitar I think.
1970's!
Didn't this song earn him a Grammy?
Don't look Ethel!!😜
even with his skinny ass and high notes exudes more machismo than many of today's men...and I grew up on 80s rap! wish I'd have caught on to country sooner...it took me growing up to like this stuff! LOL
JD Mannes on pedal steel
Bobby Grant from Brookside 🤣🤣🤣
He looked so hot with beard.
Quiero bajar el video y subirlo a Facebook.... Puedo hacerlo o no....
Makes a change for Ray to sing a serious song.
😮 I just came here as I just heard a joke song but I only know this classic x
As a boy I heard this version first so all the classic versions just sound dreary by comparison.
And now country is crap, I mean rap (same difference)
Ditto. I like some rap, but modern day C&W is too slick for my liking.
Lip-synching? Yep!
Gotta wonder why though. Ray has certainly proved he can sing live.

I'd rather watch him lip-synch this song than any current pop star doing a live number, for sure!
@@20alphabet Agreed!
