    Taking the pill was one of the biggest mistakes I made. Got depression, migraines, low libido, etc…… from it. After 6 years and different pills I stopped it. I was infertile for 3 years because I got a lot of cysts in my ovaries. The reason was the pill. Nowadays I’m doing the natural birth control via measuring my temperature and I’m feeling great. But this method is not for everyone, it’s pretty safe when you are disciplined and your cycle is consistent but otherwise it can be a little dangerous, when it comes to getting pregnant unwanted.

For tracking the measurements, there are a lot of apps. But keep in mind, the safety depends from 22 - 98%. It’s working for me, because I have a consistent cycle and lifestyle. This method needs some research and time, plus you also have to keep an eye on your cervical mucus. It’s a bit of work and I understand that’s it not for everyone.

      When I had bleeding on Nexplanon, I probably dealt with it for about 3 months before telling my doctor, and they immediately prescribed a very small dose of progesterone to be taken orally. Cleared up the breakthrough bleeding within that week, and then I had very few periods (and exactly zero painful periods which is what I was looking for to begin with) until removal 3 years later. If I ever bled for more than 10 days I would take the progesterone again.
      It’s a very common issue, and in my case the first thing the doctor recommended worked to clear it right up.

    I wanted to try going on a birth control implant to be safe incase anything happened through my high school years with me and boyfriend, even though I don’t plan on full on having intercourse because of pregnancy risks. I told my step mom, she forwarded it to my dad and they both approved but then they had to talk to my (biological) mom about this since I was afraid to open up to her about it. She reacted badly and said she’d lose trust with me in that area, would become suspicious of me, would possibly prevent me from seeing my boyfriend, talk to his parents, and was going to find out the reason why I even need it and is upset about this. I feel very hurt that I feel restricted from becoming more independent and exploring my own sexuality and hurt that she is making it seem wrong that I have gotten more involved with my boyfriend. Me and him have not planned and do not plan to have full on intercourse because I don’t want to get pregnant. But there’s still other risks I want to use birth control for incase of, but I am really hurt to hear this from my mom. She’s never talking to me about sex at all and it hurts me a lot. It’s nerve wracking to open up to her about it because her reaction can be (and was clearly) really bad. I’ve been with my boyfriend for a year and we really love each other and are very smart, and openly communicate about sex and what is right for us and what works. This makes me even more furious that she feels she can cut off my relationship that isn’t in her control when she has no context at all of what we even do because she never tries to talk to me to understand me or educate me. His dad at his house isn’t very close watching of us but I still clearly haven’t gotten pregnant because I don’t condone having full on intercourse, even when unsupervised. But I feel I still want protection because of other things we do that are considered “sexually active”… I really needed to vent this and share this because I’m frustrated at my lack of support I need in my mother that I have never received from her in this way and because of all the frustration I have from not hearing her values or education about my sexual health. I see my friends and boyfriends with supportive mothers on sexual health and it makes me even more hurt. 🥲

      If you’re 18 you can get it alone….like make an appointment with your OB or pediatrician and you have a right to HIPAA so no one can ask you anything you don’t want to disclose nor do they have the authority to look themselves. EVEN if you’re on their insurance, they cannot open your mail it’s a FEDERAL CRIME.
      Your medical records are protected. And if they try to interfere then they’re breaking the law. Get access to them online as your doc on how you can and then get the app your hospital is using.
      The HIPAA thing is protecting you as we speak, I think around 11-12 yrs old (at least in my time) I was able to tell my mom to leave the room when I got my physical and I asked for birth control just to see if I’d get it and I could. I didn’t do it ofc (but you don’t need anyone’s permission it’s your body) but only you can see your medical records. Especially if you’re In highschool, you can be in control of that , make an online account and only you access them, including medication. Take charge of your life and learn up on your rights as an individual.
      I had a mom like that too plus she stole money from my bank account cause she was having control over that too. So I made her sign in the bank to get out of my account which was my legal right.
      There’s so much I had to go through so I had to learn my rights because I have a mom exactly like this and I took charge of my own business be it medical records, mail, school, money, etc. since highschool because of that. Plus if I were you, I’d put your dad and step mom or anyone you trust like a guardian on my emergency contacts on anything especially the hospital records. You can change that whenever you want and tell them to delete her number if you want.

    anyone else ever bleed for over 2 months STRAIGHT while NOT on the pill? i haven’t been on the pill in YEARS. However i’ve been bleeding for 2.5 months constantly daily. my gyno put me on the progesterone only “Slynd” pill to try to stop the bleeding. and it gave me extreme, crushing migraines, and eye problems unfortunately.. i just stopped it yesterday idk what to do or what to take to stop this constant bleeding. i don’t even know why im bleeding constantly this much for months unless it’s an extreme out of the blue hormone imbalance.. any have recommendations?

    My first nexplanon was god sent. My second one, not so much. There are a total of about 7-8 days a month that I DONT bleed. Odds are on any given day I’m going to be bleeding, and not spotting, full on, heavy bright red bleeding. About to say eff it and switch to FAM & diaphragm and condoms on my fertile days

      Unfortunately the only real option is to double up on barrier methods.
      So get a Caya diaphragm and use with condoms. And potentially spermacide.
      No hormone changes. You do have to use them properly every time though.

    • @exercisethemind
      @exercisethemind 10 місяців тому

      The birth control method with the least side effects is to know your body like it's the face of a clock. If you know your cycle and check the signs of fertility everyday, you have maximum info to help you to either get pregnant or avoid pregnancy. It requires discipline, but if you follow the method it is 99% effective, more effective than most other types of birth control. It's by far the most natural, the healthiest, and most affordable system. ZERO side effects. ZERO health risks. You can find info by looking up "Natural Family Planning". The American Pregnancy Association provides a good introduction. You can learn more from books and medical professions in your area. And it has the added bonus that when you know your body very well you can also help identify any health problems more quickly.
