all the "KING'S" albums are concept albums ...a scary story....listen beginning to end while reading the lyrics ....he changes his voice to go along with the members of the story...all the king diamond albums would make great horror movies on their own....that is talent ..".LONG LIVE THE KING"
Iam 55 now,,been listening to mercyful fate / king diamond since 1985 i was 18 when i was introduced to him,,i have a 6 disk bose system in my vehicle, and 1 is dangerous meetings by mercyful fate and i have abgail by king ,,seen mercyful fate in 2022 the best concert i have seen and seen many good bands but king is just over the top
Lol, 64, only a few years off. Yeah, creepy is a great word to describe his music. Many dark tales he tells, or sings. Can't get more real than this. The solo is insanely good. Glad you enjoyed this. Now you know for sure he is real. Great reaction^!^ P.s. the quick clip of the woman behind the mic is his wife helping out on a note or two. Helps yo save his vocals during the show! Another great track for 'darkness' would be 1 of 2. King Diamond- A Mansion In Darkness or Mercyful Fate- A Dangerous Meeting! This song is from the album 'Conspiracy' which is part 2 from the album before 'Them' Yes, thank you Steven!!!!!
King Diamond :) I have a few of his albums and bought the vinyl for only $2 in the 80's LOL. Your right, it is like a horror story, you will love the official video of this. Love how he can change up his vocals. Here is some info: King Diamond's horror-rock concept album Conspiracy, "Sleepless Nights" picks up a storyline from the previous album "Them" where King's sister Missy is killed. In this track, King is at a graveyard trying desperately to connect with Missy and pleading with the spirits, who he calls "Them." King Diamond's guitarist Andy LaRocque wrote the music for this song. In an interview with LaRocque, he explained that the guitar riff was inspired by a 1978 Black Sabbath song called "Air Dance." and this became a popular track. * The "Eye of the witch" song is pretty cool, the album is a whole story, the main parts of the stories told on this album are true, and took place during the French Inquisition, 1450-1670. All of the following characters are real and from that period of time. * Great reaction, this takes me back to memory lane in my teens so many great bands.
Spot on! Yes it sounds like a horror movie it's part of a Horror Story concept album. You need a full album to get a full opinion on King Diamond. He has 10 full length concept albums as the solo King Diamond. 7 more with his even better other band Mercyful Fate. You should listen to Abigail in full. One of the most evil horrific theatric albums ever. With a story that's fit for the movie screen. I agree with that other commentor you'd LOVE A Dangerous Meeting by Mercyful Fate. One of his best songs along with Charon by King Diamond.
All of King Diamond’s albums with the exception of the first one or one single story from beginning to end, and they are very much Stephen King style horror, movie style the guys, an amazing talent and always has a great band. King is the shit.
As others have already said, King Diamond should be reacted to one album at a time to get the most out of the concept. His vocals are an acquired taste for sure. Please react to his other band, Mercyful Fate, too. Some great tracks to choose from: ”Evil”, ”Come to the Sabbath”, ”The Oath” and ”The Bell Witch”.
You came up in my recommendations. I was at this show, and it was phenomenal. I even get to see myself here or there in the DVD which is kinda cool. Yes, "horror show" is exactly what he's going for. Many of his records are concepts, and at this particular show he played the full album "Abigail", which is very much a classic horror story. Hands down an absolutely brilliant show.
It is like a horror movie on purpose. King Diamond has made all but one of his albums are a horror style story. This is from the conspiracy album which is the second part of the “them” album. It’s a great story line. His second solo album after Mercyful fate is the first full story album called Abigail. His first album was four different songs and the last four were a story on the fatal portrait album. The rest afterwards were all horror story concept albums and I believe there were like 11 or 12 more. They are all incredible musicianship and amazing vocals and the stories make Stephen king novels seem like nursery rhymes. Kinfanwinter
You came up in my recommendations. I see you've done a few King/Mercyful reactions so I'll be checking those out. Probably been said in the comments but there are a few albums that were conceptional. Abigail/Them etc. So your observation of a "horror film" and "acting" is actually musical theater. Cheers
Man it's clear you don't know anything about King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, but believe an old metalhead who knows them from the beginning, they are LEGENDS among hard and metal fanatics. He/Mercyful Fate did so many masterpieces and never had any equivalent. You have A LOT of records at your disposal.
It's legit and pretty well know those are real human bones. He did some medical stuff and went to school for it. Femur and tibia to be exact. He used to use a human skull for a prop too.
The King has just got you !!!

Some of the best guitars and storytelling in all of metal.
