CORRECTION: Mortimer Freeze technically does have a hurtbox during the first phase, but it's higher up near his head, making it pretty much a non-factor unless you wanted to spam EX's inside his hitbox or are playing Ms. Chalice and jump directly into his hurtbox.
Mortimer takes 6 Charge Shots before transitioning to the next phase. Hit him with 5 and wait till you get the 2nd parry before you move to the next phase. Since time is not a concern in this fight, even with the worst RNG (Pink card doesn't appear until after the 4th icicle attack), I've still managed to defeat him in under 2 minutes.
Well, this marks the end of my S ranking journey. Thanks to you (and Help Me Im Stuck for some of the regular modes) i managed to master both the base game and the DLC. Thanks again, you're awesome.
note: Jupiter, when rolling, will telegraph the opposite maneuver than what you would expect. if he lean back, he will roll, and if he jumps, he will bounce
This was my strat facing Mortimer Freeze: I used Astral Cookie for the dash parry. I used Shield Pal since my problem is consistently staying at the 3 HP and I can be aggresive. I used Chaser so that I can wait out for 2 Pink Cards on the first phase while dealing constant damage, and the chaser orbit helps me clear the icicles while waiting for the cards. I also used rounabout since it makes phase 2 and 3 easier. Hope this can help.
Sometimes the eyeball laser will hit you even when you're inside of him because of its weird pattern, which is weird since that shoukd make it melt his mouth.
For this fight? I don't see why you'd need it tbh. Worse case, you can use Ms. Chalice and Shield Pal. Ms. Chalice would actually make the parries easier in some cases, so if you want to use Ms. Chalice, go ahead
Hey! I recently beat cuphead. Def one of the hardest games ive played. Crackshot and Ms. Chalice for the devil is something i really recommend (going off topic) just remembered i have to beat the DLC... Do you guys have any tips for Esther Winchester and The Howling Aces? Maybe Saltbaker as well but i havent gotten to him yet. Esther is fun, but god awfully difficult.
I do have guides on both Esther and Howling Aces, and although they are for S Ranking them, most tips still apply and the loadout for both still stands!
This boss is naturally broken. Its problem is not so much in complexity, but in the fact that you need to endure the first stuffy phase (if anything, I play on no dmg) and get AT LEAST to the second, where: 1. The snowman can attack in a STILL UNFINISHED ANIMATIONS (ONLY A FUCKING MORAN COULD THOUGHT TO DO SUCH A PHASE) 2. Randomly flying birds that break boss patterns and dodge windows As a result, you need a huge number of attempts to achieve three parries, while not receiving damage until the third phase and somehow not getting hurt on the “cluster buckets” and not falling, because the platforms on the expert move faster. The boss is shit, just like Gorgon.
See? This is what I mean by the parries. The RNG is so all over the place, it LITERALLY is up to luck half the time. The fight itself is actually a lot easier than I thought once you analyze each move like I did. Replaying Mortimer has made me get so much better at him, but even despite that, I CAN'T CONSISTENTLY S RANK HIM. It's why he's one of my least favorite bosses to S Rank. The best play is to be bored and wait for as many parries as you can before you enter the last phase or finish the fight.

If you parry his eye he freezes
Some advice is that Mortimer will shoot a pink card every 3 cards.
I wanna drop kick mortimer for how he always ruins my s rank speed runs
really good guide, never realized the reason the bucket attack on the final phase were on the top where because he turned upside down

Glad I could help!
I beat mortimer’s s-rank on my second try. I have NO IDEA WTF THE RNG GODS HAVE BEEN DOING TODAY
Edit: I S RANKED ON MY FIRST TRY WHAT THE FU-

Dude the fact that this boss was harder than me s ranking chef saltbaker somehow💀
I won this with no hit 2 times and YET STILL I WAS MISSING A SINGLE PARRY GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
feels bad man :(
Thank you so much this was my last s rank I needed to do!

Saying "I can be aggressive"sounds so cringe sometimes LOL
@@Alexthe_LucasTDplayerNo, it doesn't. People can have aggresive playstyles towards some bosses.
Most annoying boss in the dlc but the music is so good

Every time Jupiter does the icicle shockwave.i imagine that the spikes are diamond swords from minecraft.
Near the end of this series :(
The sound when he shoots out the ice cubes is so satisfying
fun fact: for the S rank achievement in dlc, i did this boss
You had to release this two days after I s ranked him
I'M TRYING TO DO IT!!! IT'S YOU WHO'S MAKING FALSE TECHIQUE CLAIMS!
Mr.Kap do you think divine relic would be good?

Ok thanks
I managed to S rank this boss from what must have been a 1/100000000 chance. I some how managed to get all 3 parries from the 1st phase.
Fr
For me, the hardest part of this boss to s rank is the time
For reaaaalll
@@MrKapIt was SUPER easy to get the parries as Ms. Chalice, but I either get hit twice or I just get super close to the time
HEY! THE STRATS ARE NOT LEGIT!! THEY'RE FAKE!!
They're real, you just suck at the game

@@MrKap Thank you!! Just beat Chef Saltbaker. Loved the DLC so much
Hi
Aight bet I'ma S rank this man with whetstone just because of this
Edit: that was really easy.
Mr.karp is the best Cuphead gamer
Lol, thanks!
Nice video thanks

On my winning run, I got all three in the first phase in not a lot of time. Just luck
