In today's video we have made it to the Florida Keys! It was a long journey from Virginia, which is where we were during the holidays visiting family. RV living is different down here. It's a slower pace and easier way of life. We had a crazy amount of adventures while down here and we want to share them with you. We are starting with what the RV park is like and what you can do right there! Sunshine Key RV resort is beautiful and basically the entire island! Great video! I just booked a month long RV trip to the Keys in early June…will be driving from the DFW area. Will be my longest RV trip. Planning to overnight park at Cracker Barrels, Bass Pro Shops, etc. Safe travels!!
We stayed at a Cracker Barrel and a Florida rest area. They are huge south of Daytona. Made for a manageable drive to the keys the next day. Enjoy your trip!

HAHA! We show real life and getting called out is part of it. ha! It's amazing down in the Keys and a place you NEED to visit! The Manatees love fresh water. Hi there I just subscribed. Beautiful footage! Thanks for sharing!😘 I lived in Miami 5 years so of course took advantage of the keys many x over. Where I lived in Miami my backyard there was an inlet from Biscayne Bay. So manatees would hang out all the time especially in the 🌄 it was lovely.

Great video, we have the Keys on our list one day!! I guess living near the ocean for 17 years and Mallory was born living on the beach, we havent made it a top event but it is on the list!! This looked like fun!!
It's worth a trip down there. At least once! Start planning about a year in advance bc it books up fast down there!

I knew you often have long drive days since you only travel on weekends but wow. That first day was something. And what was that manatee doing at the end, drinking bilge water?
We had a really long travel day going to the keys. We have to drive a bit further so we can explore more. It's tough driving only on weekends but it's worth it! The manatees like any type of fresh water, including what comes out of the boats. Which is why it can be dangerous for them to get used to that.

I think we were there at the same time. Might have been right across from each other too. I remember seeing a burgundy ram parked near our site. We have a bright red ram like yours. Only difference is we have the short bed mega cab.

Beautiful, the wife had a good question. Since you have pets are there local RV repair shops near these rv sites? In case your AC goes out. Do you use any kind of tempature warning device when you are away from your RV? If so what do you recommend?
There isn't always a repair shop around, so it's important to have UA-cam University ready, LOL. For the fur babies, we make sure they are taken care by doing this.
- Alfred is a free webcam app that you can download on apple devices. It turns our iPad into a web cam and we can place it anywhere. While we are out, we can check on them with our iPhones. It's pretty simple to setup, just have to have internet. We also have a small battery operated thermostat that we place in sight of the camera so we can see the temp.
- Waggle is a device you can add to your RV. It has its own service through Verizon. I believe it's $15/month. It connects to an app on your phone where you can monitor the temp and humidity.
- Our RV has the Lippert OneControl installed. We can see the temp in all three areas and remote start our generator if we see the temp going up. It's a 12v system so we can still see if the power goes out. Once our generator is started, we can turn the ACs. I pray we never have all 3 ACs go out at the same time. 2 will keep the inside comfortable.
- There is another device called MarCELL. It will monitor and alert you if you have a power outage.

that is very cool we scuba dive and see them from time to time , How long did it take you to get good on your paddle boads they look like a lot of fun
It took us an hour or so to feel comfortable. It's all about having the right board. The first time I tried, I didn't like it and couldn't stand up. After research, realized the board width, length and thickness matter. I now have a great board that is pretty steady out on the water. Thinking about buying one?

Looks like someplace we would like to give a try. Looks like they are booked thru April this year. Does anyone know when books will open for the 2023 season?? Not to early to start planning.
If you have the opportunity to stay there, definitely jump on it. It's beautiful. We stayed there through our Thousand Trails membership.

WHAT WAS THE COST PER DAY. ?? I HAVE A 2008 TOY HAULER 41 FT. TRIPLE AXLE, WITH A 95 FORD 350 DUALLY RESTORED WILL THEY LET ME IN???? I HEAR SOME PARKS WILL NOT??
It is $20/night for people who have the membership. I'm not sure what the retail price is though. Their website has a statement that says the RV must be road worthy at all times with a valid/current registration and carry insurance. Nothing states a rule against age but you could call to confirm. Where did you stop on95 for the night? While I see a lot of truckers sleeping at the rest areas not sure I have seen RV’s with slides out for the night? Is this even allowed?
The rest areas in Florida allow overnight but it can very spot to spot. We stopped at a rather large area with a second parking lot. It has cameras and security overnight. We like to park on the end where we don’t encroach on another spot. If we can’t find an end spot, we will leave one of the slides closed for the night. We have even found some rest areas with RV spots and 30 amp plugs so it is becoming more common. Great question. Thanks!

Definitely worth a visit! If you want to go next year, start planning. Some places like state parks book up almost a year in advance.

@@1StrangeAdventure Last June (2021) got pretty hot. I love 80's at night and 90's daytime. My sons weren't so happy about working in it. We got home to Northern Illinois just in time for the same weather for the July 4th in Northern Illinois. Ha. December we saw night temps of 62-66. We had to turn on the heat!!

@@1StrangeAdventure we just picked up the Insta360 One X2. We were ashamed when we drove through the Rockies and didn't have better footage to show for it. We are still figuring it out. Hoping to have it working for us at the Tampa RV show.
@@TexasFamilyCamping gotcha. I think the new iPhone shoots great for a phone and at times when I’m Not going to risk my camera. We also have a GoPro 9 that works great.

Can’t be doing slide outs at the rest areas.
Pretty common practice in the rest areas we have been to. We find end spots where the slides don’t impede others. Thanks!
