- Breitling has reaffirmed its pioneering role in the field of
technical watches and instruments for professionals by creating
the very first wristwatch with a built-in personal locator beacon
(PLB). The Emergency II is a high-tech gem equipped with a dual
frequency transmitter compliant with the specifications of the
Cospas-Sarsat international satellite alert system and serving
both to issue alerts and to guide search and rescue missions.
Developed in conjunction with major scientific institutes, the
Emergency II is distinguished by numerous microelectronic and
microtechnical innovations, including a revolutionary
rechargeable battery, a miniaturized dual frequency transmitter
and an unprecedented integrated antenna system -- three
features specifically developed for this model.
As the first ever wristworn dual frequency PLB, it establishes
itself as a safety and survival instrument in all distress
situations on land, at sea and in the air.
this is the coolest quartz watch, no debate
A real life safer
That’s why I bought mine in case of any emergency while I’m playing my PS4 💪🏼
"Emergency Alert received: Snacks required"....
@@thefiestaguy8831 It’s like that SpongeBob episode where he learns to fly and everyone takes advantage of him.
when call of duty gets to real
RM owners should have these to rescue from critical lack of good taste
Man falls off motorcycle into soft sand doing 5mph, oh no it's an emergency lol
I think in his case he would pay the fine lol
😂😂lol
the bike still works. just ride out.
Not only that but the plane in the helicopter why would you pull that distress Beacon when you can just use the radio equipment in your plane or helicopter
@@davidaix5771 Or the Jet fighter lmao, arent those things constantly emitting data especially if its from the army? Yeah , I guess a jet just crashed and noone would notice
What a phenomenal watch... every man who loves the Breitling brand is a dream come true
Nikhil bhaiya ka vlog dekh ke aya mere ko bhi leni hai ye watch

Kiska vlog ???
It's broadcasting a vhf emergency radio distress signal on 121.5Mhz with a range of max. 100miles and 48hours under perfect circumstances.
@mumbikernikhil #mumbikernikhil
I'm getting this for grampa. This is much better than life alert.
An Apple Watch does a better job and also detects falls and calls 911 if they lose consciousness
@@chriscruciat2469 you need cell signal
@@Tuck_Frump if your grandpa lives in a remote area I get it, but if he doesn’t an Apple Watch is great
@@chriscruciat2469 my grandpa is till with RAF. Your apple watch would never work over the north Atlantic tracks. Especially over 45w50e.
@@chriscruciat2469 Yeah, except 911 won't work if the watch is broken for instance, or if he's in an area with no cellular service.
A PLB beacon (like the one in the watch) costs a few hundred pounds (probably same in dollars) and works without any cellular coverage as it uses a satellite.
In the same way that if you were going on a boating trip around the world, or to a remote desert somewhere, you wouldn't take your cell phone, you'd use a satellite phone, which works provided you have line of sight to the sky.
When you're injured or stranded somewhere and your life is literally on the line, it's better to have something that is almost certain to work (provided you can see the sky) than something that might or might not work depending on where about you are or crash if on a plane....
Gotta say, video marketing aside, it’s pretty fucking cool... and oddly, one of Breitlings nicest looking watches imo. A real solid, man’s watch.
I’m thinking about pulling the pin and getting one (pun completely intentional)
the watch is cool. the video is stupid. lands the plane in the desert, doesn't use the instruments in the plane to call for help. flight control would have been sending help before he even landed. the pilot ejecting has a locator beacon in the seat. didn't need the watch. otoh, all the people who got lost in the mountains hiking would have been saved if they had this watch.
@@louiscyfer6944 ssssshhhh....
If you pull the pin then you have to be ready to pay for the rescue effort. (it WILL be charged to you.)
I just found out about this watch today...very cool!
Well worth the 20k AUD price tag
I’ve always wondered if some guy at a pub in London is showing this watch off to his mates and pulls the beacon out lol
Este reloj fue el que llevaba Kitin Muñoz, un navegante español en la primera misión Mataranghi
Expensive adverts make expensive watches favuloso!
How does this actually work? Do they use a private rescue team (if so who pays?), or is the signal just forwarded to the state rescue depeartment?
Youd think the price of the watch should cover all costs?
It's SAR, an international Service and works like a normal Radio Signal.
@@jgzk they put the satellite there like that so people think its based on satellite and you have your private rescue group. Which you should for that price
It’s a small team of Breitling AD’s.
It uses Cospas-Sarsat same as a £300 PLB you can buy.
Essentially the watch sends a signal to any one of numerous passing SARSAT satellites overhead, if one isn't directly in view or "range" as such of the watch, it transmits until one is overhead and continues to transmit for usually 24 hours.
The satellite receives the signal, the transmitted data includes GPS position on the newer watches which transmit at 406MHZ as 121.6 MHz is essentially a "Homing beacon" but not very accurate, and only gives rescuers a rough area to search, whereas 406Mhz is far more accurate and GPS is usually to within a few metres, even at it's worst GPS is usually out by no more than 100 metres.
The satellite forwards the signal back down to the ground to a LUT (Local User Terminal) essentially a small radar type dish with a cabinet next to it, inside the cabinet is a powerful computer that runs 24/7 and processes this signal and interprets the signal and the data from the alert and calculates an approximate location for the beacon that has been activated with the distress signal, if the beacon has GPS it's very accurate, but even modern MEOLUT (using MEO satellites instead of the older GEO and LEO satellites) can calculate a very accurate location of the watch/beacon in distress mode WITHOUT GPS.
The LUT then transmits all of the data including the location of the distress beacon (watch in this case) to a MCC, or Mission Control Centre, there are 29 of them in the world. The MCC then forwards the alert to a RCC, Rescue Coordination Centre, there are usually several of these in each country, spread across the country.
The RCC then contacts the nearest SAR (Search and Rescue) team to the location of the distress beacon and the rescue is arranged.
Typically it can take a good number of hours, the first ever rescue in Sept 1982 took just under 16 hours from time of beacon activation until rescue. However this was a long time ago and using older slower technology. This rescue also took place whilst the system was in it's "Trial" period and the system had not officially gone live, which was a very good test and proved that it works, and saved the lives of 3 people who crashed in a remote area of the Canadian Rockies.
The three people involved in this incident were in a plane crash in the mountain ranges of British Columbia, their distress signal was picked up by a passing SARSAT satellite some hours after they activated their emergency beacon, the information was forwarded to a LUT in Ontario some near 3,000 miles away. They forwarded this onto MCC and onto RCC who arranged search and rescue.
The idea is that it's not a "Quick and immediate" rescue, at minimum it will likely be at least a few hours, and at longest perhaps 24-36 hours, but the idea that it essentially guarantees people are aware of your presence and that you need assistance, without one a lot of people would have no other option and would have died.
Who's here after Mumbiker Nikhil's vlog.?
😂😂😂😂
i came after mumker nikhil vlog
What needs to be said that wasn't addressed here is that this should only ever be activated as a last resort means of communication after all other methods have failed ie: radio or phone and only to be used in an emergency where lives are at risk without external intervention.
This is not a toy or sales gimmick. This is a tool to save lives.
Is this re-usable for sending signals??
I want one, therefore when I am with my mistress and wife shows up I need a rescue
Amazing commercial
rescue will come anywhere in the world? or just in Europe and USA?
Its a huge fine if you pull it by accident, like $50,000

given how bulky standard (trusted) tech that does this is ..i'b be worried for 'what' situations this watch would fail to function as intended (so many things kill the effective distance of slimmed down tech devices like this ..not to mention damage).
Secondly, the search+rescue crews shown in this video are by FAR the fastest I've ever seen! It's almost like they prearranged the accidents ..then simply flew round the corner and saved the day ;)
C'est un film publicitaire donc forcement tout semble plus héroïque que la réalité... d'ailleurs si on regarde les secours eux aussi ont des Breitling au poignet... Publicité fabriquée et financée par la marque...
James Bond '007' Watch
Are these still worth it today? Or are there better options
Get a PLB, can buy one for £250-£350. Far cheaper than the watch. Boat and ELT (for planes) are a bit more expensive.
so it comes with a helicopter ?
Is this on the 121.5 MHz emergency frequency? Cause I've heard that band is not monitored any longer? I'm looking into purchasing one and would appreciate any information?
Boost Baron I think that band is still being monitored but an additional frequency was added because it has a greater range or something. Of course, ask before you purchase the watch but that is what I found when looking for this watch.
It is on satellite 406 and AM VHF 121.5. The 406 gets them close and the 121.5 gets them to you.
The Emergency is equipped with a microtransmitter alternately operating on two separate frequencies. It transmits a first digital signal on the 406 MHz frequency intended for satellites and lasting 0.44 seconds every 50 seconds; as well as a second analog signal on the 121.5 MHz homing and rescue frequency, lasting 0.75 seconds every 2.25 seconds.
Heftig das ist die Zukunft!

That’s so fucking cool
If only you knew
What if u pull it and its not an emergency
I'd imagine recompense for the rescue party that comes for you and you won't get a free replacement from Breitling lol
Nguyen lol
You get arrested. It's like abusing 911 but worse.
You won’t be arrested you are liable to pay ALL FEES including air see land and rescue efforts to save your life, it’s not a joke it’s for life or death, IF it is a real emergency the watch maker will pay, and pay for the watch to be fixed. Rescue is expected when the cords are pulled but of course not guaranteed.
No, you do not get “arrested” by the police. Police don’t just arbitrarily arrest. Calm down and stop making up BS.

So you have to be rich to protect your life ? Poor people are just screwed I guess
There are similar devices called PLB (personal locator beacon). Like ACR ResQLink. They are not so compact, but still are not very big. They use the same government rescue signal, they are not extremely expensive and they have a permanent 5-year battery.

Really ? Did not know that
I mean hasn't that been the name of the game since for ever???
If I ever can afford this I'm gonna buy 5 and wear them all at once. I don't trust it. What if it doesn't work and hen you're screwed.
smol boi lemon seedling then get a satellite PLB and keep that in your bag.
Really cool, but iPhones now have satellite capability for emergency situations so I can’t see too many people buying this watch just for that purpose. Regardless, very cool watch.
