Yes, But will it work if you are in the water with a life jacket? Anyone? Seems the design is not amenable to being deployed in that situation .

The antenna will not work if it's under the water. It should not touch the water. And something needs to hold up both ends. It would be hard to use it if you're swimming. Also I think this watch has no GPS built in, so you will need to hold it up for some time until the watch is located by Doppler I think.

Shake the watch dry and then activate while holding in the air. Most likely going to have to keep it there
