    I realized that the reason I scroll is usually to look at aesthetic stuff (I have a huge Pinterest addiction) so in my notebook journal but I also do watercolor paintings, doodles, marker illustrations. Then the cool thing is that even when I don’t feel like writing I can still look back through old journal pages as entertainment instead of scrolling because they’re so aesthetically pleasing.

      That's a good idea. I'm addicted to Pinterest too, but I have a few creative journals I can look back through. I even have art books and coffee table books so I can look at others works!

    I am one those old people you mentioned 😅 When I was a student, mobile phones had not been invented yet and pocket notebooks were an indispensable part of me. Now young people are discovering them and this is beautiful! I don’t like the color black very much and a black notebook wouldn’t be able to attract my attention instead of my phone. That’s why I bought a neon orange pocket notebook (made of stone paper, eco-friendly) and it sits on my bedside table, just like yours. It attracts me with its candy color as soon as I wake up in the morning 😊I carry it around with me all the time and I recommend it to everyone, especially to young people… Love 💐💖

    8:10 When you mentioned that sometimes you procrastinate bc someone might notice that you are putting in effort into something..... This was very relatable bc my dad had always put me down for being lazy and when I did do something "responsible" he would make condescending comments that I was "actually" doing something I "must want" something....so I hate doing anything in front of him or around him bc of the way it makes me feel when he makes comments about me.

    New to your channel. I’m watching while sitting in bed and drinking coffee - getting my day started much slower than I’d like. Listening to you, I realized that when I drink coffee in the morning I sit and scroll, etc. Perhaps I need to have a different start to my day so I don’t delay. I love the pocket notebook idea, and I’ll give it a try! Thank you!

A habit like this has helped to provide me with information for content that can then be shared across my social media and newsletter. All without having to be glued to a screen while out and about.

    I found reading a book ( a real book with pages, not a kindle) was something that I always did during breakfast, or it's something you may do during morning coffee. I don't drink coffee. Also, reading a book only takes one hand. Reading something works your brain, which is something you need after the drain of scrolling, and if you read a really good book, you can work up to harder books as your concentration gets better. Just a few minutes at a time even.

    thoughts on 'productivity' and boredom are very to the point, for example
    one thing to note here is... not to always note in lines, in horizontal lines. for me, it just cuts down on creativity and puts everything into a very narrow prism
    free handwriting, mind mapping, visual idea generation and many more - those are things that i'm exploring constantly and including into the OS i make. and, again, morning is a great time for that, just as you have mentioned.

    I have a question for everybody who all goes to thrift stores like St Vincent de Paul or Goodwill? Did you know that people give away writing stuff like cool writing paper to write on or journals that are partially used or sometimes even journals that are really not used with all blank pages and people also donate pens and other writing paper and notebooks and journals? So what do you guys think about using journals and notebooks and other line paper and other writing material from a thrift store? It's not that expensive so that's one way to save money and save the writing stuff from going to the dump because I know that dumpst are starting to run out of room so I guess it's a way of like recycling if you think about it that way. The thing is if you get journals and notebooks from thrift stores you should at least take out the pages that are used and recycle those so that way you could fill it up with all your own things. It is fine going to thrift stores and hunting for writing things and sometimes you may find some other cool things to that you want to buy and thrift stores also have other things that you might like to add to a journal too. I love going to thrift stores and hunting for journaling things are things that are just writing related also if you check out the book section you may find some different books on different types of journals that you can use and these ones are like guided journals in a way so they give you ideas on what to do in those books and it's fun. So I would like to know how many people would use writing material from a thrift store? I don't see nothing wrong with using things that you find in a thrift store have fun craft things to do. Have fun searching for your writing things at thrift stores because when I go I have fun finding different items for writing and I see nothing wrong with it. What do you guys all think about getting writing materials and any kind of crafts items at a thrift store? Going to thrift stores what's saving money and you'll have fun hunting for those things. I really recommend that a lot of people do this to save the planet and so we don't have so much waste in the landfills. Also I think it's a good way of recycling if more people could look at it like that it's perfect for everyone. I suggest that people do a lot more shopping at thrift stores to find things to use for crafts are no books and journals. The Hunt is fun in a thrift store for all these different things.

    Pocket notebook was something I didn’t add to my edc for a while. But writing things down has helped me actually make lists of things I’ve always wanted to make lists for. I'm so greatful I found your video! I also found out about the pocket notebook trend and was looking for a better way for me to journal, as my system then didn't satisfy me. I have been using a pocket notebook for the past 1.5 months, but I was still in the mental barrier of my old system in how I used it.
    I've tried breaking out of that barrier a week ago, and it improved, but still not enough. Like you said, youtube is a great source of inspiration, and it inspired me so much how you use it! I'm very excited how it'll turn out for me :]]
    Also, I have been trying out using a self made junk journal instead of a bought pocket notebook. I gather paper waste and sew it together, it helps me a lot to not be super perfectionistic (?) about everything.

    I keep multiple journals going at one time, but I have a system I use for scrolling, or for social media, mostly Facebook and Tiktok. UA-cam I use for learning, and getting ideas, so I separate it from social media even though it is, but I use it for functionality.
    Anyway, my system is, one of my smaller notebooks, if I want to go on FB or TT, I have to write a full page in the journal. It doesn't matter what. My very first one was literally just outlining my system I was going to start, and now it's the very first page on my book. When this book is done, I'll write that out again on the first page.
    OK, so now I've completed my full page, I can log into FB, I give myself 30 minutes max at a time. If I want to go longer, I have to write another full page before doing that. If I lock my phone screen, another full page even if it's within the 30 minutes.
    The idea is, to put a barrier between myself and my time wasting habit. Kind of the opposite of things I do when trying to start a new good habit/routine, like go for more walks, I keep my jacket, shoes and ear phones in plain site taunting me to go. I remove the barrier of having to go into the closet to get my stuff, it's already out. So I do the opposite when I want to break a habit, I add barriers.
    I' going to start doing something similar for other bad habits or routines I do.

    • @olgawithfreckles
      @olgawithfreckles  7 місяців тому

      Oh wow! What a cool approach. Does it ever happen so that once you’re done writing, you don’t wanna open FB or TT anymore?

    • @tommy605
      @tommy605 7 місяців тому

      @@olgawithfreckles Yes, more so the longer I keep doing it. Sometimes I get on a roll writing that I write longer than I thought and things keep popping into my head that I want to capture on paper.
      I also will write in the journal without not wanting to go on FB or TT and kind of keep it like a credit for later (same day only) to go on if I want to.
      It has helped me minimize my doom-scroll on those platforms and really lower my screen time considerably.

    Friendly help: when you bounce a video keep in mind of normalizing its audio, or in case you won't the volume of your video will be softer than others, and more important, than ads. So I can manage to turn up the volume but in the moment an ad start in the middle of your video my ears die, 'you know... haghghag
