- In todays video we will be working on a classic Red Wing Moc Toe Boot model number 8890.
We will be removing the old Red Wing wedge soles and replacing them with the Vibram Mini Lug Soles and a matching heel.
In between that though we will also do a cleaning on these dirty boots, replace the cork, check for damaged welt and add a midsole.

Great looking boot.
Great work as always. Love the Vibram 430 soles. I have them on a pair of Mark Alberts and just had a pair of Thursday Captains resoled with the same. I'd say that this customer made a good choice.
You are awesome, about to invest in my first redwing 1907s. Seeing you in the end be able to put a new coloring on the sole for the outside makes me feel hopeful for a 6+month resole. Talk to you in the future.
What a thorough and professional job. Well done and very informative. Keep on .
Nice job
Great work
Those Charcoal “Rough & Tough” Leather has an outer layer that is almost black, which wears away to expose the true color of the dark brown leather..
You can see the true color of the upper leather on the inside of the boot.
Great job. I'm almost tempted to buy a new pair just to get that look on a pair. Sharp!
love your Tshirt, Greetings from Greece, great job!
I highly, highly recommend Huberd's Shoe Grease. Its a mix of pine tar and beeswax and a few other natural ingredients. It really gives an awesome luster to any leather without any big effect on the color. No mink oil or silicone either which I like because mink oil in known to go gummy or rancid under certain conditions.
Nicely done!
Nice work!
Keep up the good work bud! Love your videos!
Nice. MY RW Rovers will be on the way soon. BTW, I love he t-shirt!
Genial!! Gracias por compartirlo
great video, the only thing I can think of would be to add customers reactions to the fresh new boots. Thanks for the entertainment and new knowledge.
Man, I just don't feel the moc toe off a standard crape sole. Someone digs it Though. Definitely a conversation starter.
beautiful work. What is the difference in the cork you use and the hot cork paste some other cobblers use?
I had a pair thoes I had them resole by a $40 big box cobbler 2005 dollars $80 the redwings rate. And there hurt my feet so bad. I took back redwings and there show me how they were twisted. Basically had do choice but to send them to the trash can.
So these are now the Iron Moc Ranger ?
Just picked up and extra pair and will be doing the same…. Or maybe the Roccia?
Nice Work :)
These are charcoal, a dark grey on a brown core leather.
i put mini lug soles on my moc toes and it felt like i was walking on rocks even with the most plush insoles. i had them replaced after a couple of weeks with a less aggressive sole
Have you checked out the Vibram double sole we offer where we use the Softer Vibram Christy as the main midsole and add a harder rubber sole over top for longer wear and grip?
@@CobblersPlus i went to another similar hard vibram sole without the knobs and the boots are fine now
What's the cost to have this done? I have a pair of Red Wing 1907 I want to have this done on.
Probably $200
How much is this upgrade?
Cobbler plus how can I contact you need some redwings resoled i gotten them done twice by them and i hate it sole only last about 2 months
Doesn't the stitch on the sole suffer with use, like abrasion against concrete, asphalt, etc?
It does with a top stitch. A upgraded channeled stitching holds up way longer and plus the glue helps hold everything together as well
What's the most durable vibram sole overall? I put at least 8 miles a day on all terrain, mud, road, concrete, snow, etc. I need something that will withstand these use for more than 2 months, i at least need something that will hit the one year mark, what do you recommend?
If you are having trouble with wearing out soles like that you may have to compromise on traction and go with the Vibram 1318 Alpha+. It has a good surface area to distribute the pressure
I notice you said on some vid,you using thinner to deactivate the adhesive..does it damage the leather welt?
the colour was charcoal
what kind of shoe or Boot Tree do you recommend for Red Wing Moc Toe Boots and the iron ranger boots thank you for any info you can give me.
Woodlore makes a good boot tree that fits the shoe and foot area
If i were to hand stitch a midsole to a welt what kind of stitch do I use? Can i just use a basic saddle stitch?
You can, just make sure to tie it off well and add a little glue on the end
How much does a resole cost
We have our resolve prices and options on our site www.cobblersplus.com
Do you also resole barefoot/minimalist boots?
Yes we do. We have a number of sole options
Less talk, more work. And your missing your tools all the time... how many times can you say "actually" in one video?
Since you are obviously a stickler for perfection, I'm surprised you don't know the difference between your and you're.
@@rmr5740 Well done 😏
@@rmr5740 Perhaps I do know the difference, and simply wish to trigger trolls as I did to you.
@@Dissolve03 joshy you seriously have nothing better to do with your time than play ultra fan boy bitch from the sideline?
... good for you!
@UC6K6L6NEdRINFm_g3fVMXmQ excellent point! Thank you.
