Cork or leather filler? I'm guessing leather would hold it's shape for a longer period for the life of the boot. I can't tell what it is from the video but it looks like leather.

The workmanship is excellent but who in the world would want a wedge sole. At 71 years old, I have never wanted or needed a pair of boots with a wedge sole. They seem to be totally useless.

What is the step immediately prior to trimming off of the excess leather of the midsole on that green colour hand cranked machine? Why is that done?
