Ingredients:
For the chicken:
2 lbs. Boneless skinless chicken thighs
2 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tbsp Oil
1 tsp each: cumin powder, coriander powder, black pepper, salt, dried oregano, and ½ tsp of turmeric.
3 garlic cloves, chopped
Onion and green peppers, sliced
Method:
Mix all of the above ingredients except for the onion and peppers for the chicken marinade, let the chicken marinate for 4 hours or overnight.
Cook the chicken with onions and peppers
For the white sauce:
½ cup Yogurt
½ cup Mayonnaise
¼ tsp each Dried parsley, black pepper, salt, garlic powder
Lemon juice
Method:
Mix all of the above ingredients to make the white sauce. Let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.
For the rice:
1.5 cups basmati rice
½ tsp turmeric, and ½ tsp cumin seeds or powder
1 cup chicken stock
2 cups water
Method:
In a pot, add oil, and toast the cumin seeds and turmeric together. Don't burn the seeds. Add the chicken stock and water and let it come to a boil. Add salt to taste. Then add the washed rice. Let the liquids come to a boil, then cover and cook on low till the rice is done. Mix gently.
Serve the chicken and rice together, and top it with the white sauce we made, and also some hot sauce of your choice. Serve it with a side salad as they do in the streets of NYC!

@@WhatsCookingWithFariyal for $6 and a free soda you can't beat this. My favorite halal carts are on 86th st in Bay ridge Brooklyn and there's one in Frsh pond Queens across the Wendy's
Yes Bay Ridge has some good food in general and some great halal food carts.
Sooooooooooo. Yummy
Acabo de hacer tu receta tal cual (arroz y salsa) y viaje en cuestión de segundos de Ciudad de México a Nueva York, maravillosa!
I translated what you typed lol, I don't speak Spanish, but I appreciate that you tried my recipe. Much love from New York!! ❤️
This is gonna be good 😊 🙏 love ❤️
🙏🏻❤️
Yummy
You got me boo!!!!!!
All time my favorite 🤩
Love 💕 from 🇺🇸
Thanks!
❤️❤️❤️Very Simple how you explained your Halal recipe
Thanks
You should do the chicken over salad! And the hot sauce too!
This looks great and I bet it tastes wonderful....most halal chicken and rice carts use a blend of shawarma and chicken tikka spice on the chicken that's the super red color of the chicken...I asked and was told this in New York and Philly. The Halal Guys red sauce is thick red pepper red chilli hot sauce with lemon juice instead of vinegar...
Yes you're right. Glad you liked the recipe. Hope you try it out 😊
Just did it! Just amazing taste! My daughter said it was better then Adel’s in NYC 🗽 Thank you so much!
Awww thanks so much
I love this food yummy 😋😋
Thanks! Hope you try it
Very tasty 😋 recipe
Thanks!
Aslamwalikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barkatuhu
Great BRILLIANT video Allah Hafiz 🇸🇦🇵🇰
This looks amazing! Just wondering how much lbs of chicken did you use? Thank you!
I think I used about 2 lbs or less. Boneless skinless chicken thighs. But you can use either boneless chicken breast and/or bone in chicken thighs. It'll be great either way 😊
nice!
never heard "its own natural juices" so many times in my life lol but this looks BOMB...trying tonight
🤣 I tend to repeat my words a lot. Bad habit! Thanks for trying the recipe. Let me know how it turns out
This girl is wife material 🤣
You are viral !! I’ve been searching for the perfect chicken over rice receipt , and I think I found it !!! I can’t wait for my wife to cook this for the whole family !!
Awww thanks! Let me know how it turns out when you guys make it 😌
Mashallah God bless 🙌
I can smell this tutorial through my iPhone.Amazing job.Is it okay to add a little curry powder when cooking the chicken?
That's totally fine if you'd like to add a little curry powder. But I wouldn't use too much since there's a lot of other spices too. Thanks for watching! I hope you get to smell it in your kitchen 😜
Freakin LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!! Made it about 3 times already and making it tonight. Thank you 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️
My brother made this today. Adjusted everything and made it healthy. It was about 550-600 calories all together
That sounds great!
Decided that I was going to make this yesterday, but still needed a few things. Went to the store forgot the chilies to make the sauce, so I tried your idea and used siracha instead. Added coriander, clove, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, cayenne, and water. It tastes just like the halal spot not far from home. Thank you❤
Only thing I messed up was the rice. I washed it several times until the water was clear, but I think I let it boil too long before turning the heat down. Turned out clumpy/mushy, but the flavor and color were good. Wanted to throw it out so bad, and try the rice again, but hopefully better luck next time.
Awww I'm so glad it was good for you. Try again next time on the rice when you make the chicken again. Thanks for letting me know on how it turned out. I appreciate it
Update: so I retried the rice. I rinsed it, cooked it properly. I check on it after turning the heat to realize it’s becoming mushy AGAIN. I check the packaging and the instructions says, soak for 15 min, and do not rinse.🤦🏾♀️Hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm….smh. Flavor wasn’t bad, but not as good as the first. But the texture was better🤷🏾♀️
@@rasway6700 are you allowing the rice to cook on low heat after the first boil? I'm not sure besides the rice package saying do not wash. It might be the type of rice you're using. Seems like an instant type of rice. See if you can find basmati rice. It should not be getting mushy so quickly unless it's an instant rice which is usually prewashed or also parboiled already.
@@WhatsCookingWithFariyal I believe it is even tho it doesn’t say instant. Just says soak for 15 mins and do not rinse. 10 min cook time. Mahatma basmati rice. Got it from Harris teeter lol. I have not tried it since the second time, but will do it again soon and follow the package. After I finish the bag, I won’t be repurchasing tho. Thank you much for your feed back love. When I get it right, I will be updating you❤️
Thanks for the great video! What kind of oil do you use?
I mostly cook with olive oil
@@WhatsCookingWithFariyal That’s what it looked like but I didn’t want to assume. Thanks!
Damnnnn🤤I luv it….& she pretty n can cook💯
