- Today I do an overview of the newly released He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Omnibus. I really thought this book was lost in transit and why it took me this long to get my overview out. More importantly, is it worth the $150.00 retail price!

I almost bought this one I grew up with He-Man after school when I was young and I'm 49 now so I think I was like around sixteen or younger that and Spiderman. When kids weren't shooting up their high schools and cartoons were ok to watch. We had love boat and fantasy island and bionic man and magnum good shows. Yes, I'm drinking. Great video, Omar. Quick correction, though: the binding is sewn. DC just uses a thicker amount of glue on these super thick bindings than they do on the

I knew I had to do that as soon as I hit my submit order button, brother. Just waited on this damn book for over a week and half. Yes! It'd be awesome to get that Image series.
I've never been into He-Man but you convinced me that I need this. Such a beautiful book, but looks pretty expensive.

Great video as always Omar. The book looks incredible. So many awesome characters in this book especially the Thundercats and She-Ra. The art is just gorgeous. I've already ordered this today as part of a monster 60 book haul. Can't wait for it to be delivered. Only book I couldn't find for my haul was Nightwing Year one (I refuse to pay £120 for a tpb). Keep those awesome vids coming.

Omar, thanks for this! I just missed Masters being part of my childhood, so I had no nostalgia attachment to this series. However, there were several great writers and artists involved with the series, so I was interested. Your review convinced me to get this book when it is a slow week for releases.
Thank you so much for giving it a shot. I think you will enjoy it considering the amount of talent that went into this book and the fact that you don't have to have a knowledge of who the characters are.

Fantastic Omni Omar. Grew up on He-Man and Superman. Still have all the single issues and that dvd box set. Picked up a few of the classic collector figures, but chose not to go down that rabbit hole. I'm kinda bummed I can't make it to Power-Con, would love to experience it at least one time.

Omar! I got super lucky and found this tonight at Half Price for $75! After my 10% teacher discount it became $67 something! Quick question: I wanna buy the mini comic collection too. Those stories are all unique and different from any in this set right?
The stories on the mini comic collection are different. They were the ones included with the vintage toys. The closest the mini comic stories will get to this omnibus will be the classic material from 1982 that are included towards the end of this omnibus.

I'm thinking about it because I own the first 3 graphic novels and want to finish the set. I also have all 15 issues of Eternity war, thundercats and DC UNIVERSE cross overs and injustice but books 4 &5 are ridiculously overpriced everywhere and if this Omnibus has it all... I would trade it all in. I found it on discount and I just realized this video is a couple of years old so... if i can confirm that all... Im buying it.

Did I see a Thunder Cat in that book? I didn't know they were apart of the same world. I grew up watching the cartoons (I am old). I just thought the creators of the cartoon was copying each other. This video was very interesting.
Yep, there was a six issue mini series called He-man Vs. Thundercats. It's just gorgeous to look at. Hey wait, I grew up watching those cartoons too, that doesn't make us old, just experienced. You remember Silverhawks? That was Thundercats in space! :)

I thought the DC series got off to a terrible start, not nearly as good as the 200x series by MVC. But it improved a lot when Dan Abnett started writing it. And the ending including the Skeletor vs Hordak was great! The King Hiss twist was inspired.
I was hoping they were going to include the Injustice story, but this book was a beast already.

Watched it with my little girls. They liked it more than I did, but it was still fun.
Could a total MOTU newb enjoy this? I’m a fan of Conan for sure, and was thinking of checking out the 2002 series. I want to get into the franchise, but I’m unsure of where to jump in.

I need to look up the phrase "I like them big" in my Sexual Innuendo Handbook! Your overviews do me in because you find a way to make a book I normally would not be interested in, something I want to pick up. The $150.00 retail is $200.00 retail in Canada and that is an instant turn off for me. The size is the other issue I have. I'm still in the middle of the Supersons Omni and 3/4 through Seven Soldiers. Needless to say speed is not my strong suit when it comes to reading. So picking up an omni that size that I may never finish and would further put me behind on other reading. You see my problem. that is why I like OHC's because I can get through 12 issues in a decent amount of time I feel. but 1500 page omni's I think half way through I'd be bored. But if somebody told me they would pay me to read Omni's full time and they would cover the costs of purchasing them for me I'd be all over that! That would be a dream job!

Would you believe i never heard of this book? I knew the 80’s cartoon (liked it at the time), but not these great looking comics. Book looks truly awesome, but 2 volumes might have been better. In my opinion it’s to heavy and thick. Oh well, it goes to the wishlist! 👌🏻
IT is huge. But so damn good. Lots of childhood characters reimagined.

It includes all the new He-man stories and the one shots. Not New Adventures. Or the Devil's Due run.

I ve really enjoy reading them, but like u said in the video, I want to read the image comics, has ive got two of the comics image to find and there is another company who came out with comic. Hopefully with the new omnibus image will release there version.

Busy reading it now and loving it. Just wanted to find out, are your pages also "wavey", like not completely flat but they get flatter towards the center of the book? None of my Marvel Omni's have this.
The only ones I can think of that have this wavey pages were the ones Marvel did a trial run on like Infinity OHC. I think it was the humidity that made it worst.

This series to me was a 9 out of 10. Not just nostalgia but seriously good.
I would've thought that the old original stuff iwould've been in the front, then the new stuff. It looks great, though it's just the price that turns me off.

If people don't feel like wading through the original 1980's cartoon, the 2002 version is still a really good update despite being fairly 'old' now itself, and (tragically) only 39 episodes. Be a good primer before diving into these, if you only had a passing knowledge of the He-Man universe.
Loved that 2002 version, and those damn four horsemen figures were lit!

Jacob Tizano right now the Omnibus is the best way. It’s huuuge and out of print. But you can still find it from time to time for cover price online. The Library Editions are long gone and have been OOP for over 7 years. I’m hoping DH reprints at least the Omnibus so people can read it.
Hi Omar, I noticed the new MOTU printing is slimmer (same ISBN) both printed in Canada. 1500 page count. The thickness is the same as the War of the Realms omnibus. My question to you is which one would you keep if you had the option of returning the other? Thanks

I absolutely think so. That's why I compared them to IDW TMNT and Transformers. I have no connection to Power Rangers and love the crap out of that comic.

How were you able to get the "eye" on the spine? I tried to break in my copy but the inner binding does not flex much and is relatively flat
Where was yours printed? I noticed the ones printed in Mexico are easier to break the spine in.

@@NearMintCondition Honestly, im happy for them though. They have given us some of the best comics ever written. However my favorite creative team ever, is Sale and Loeb. I first read their batman stories then the spiderman story and i was sold. Best duo ever in comics.

It is sewn binding with heavy glue. That was the issue.

It is excellent. Seriously. It changes the story that we are familiar with, but makes it fun and exciting when old characters show up.

The Classic He Man mini comics collection by Dark Horse is a must have for all He Man fan's.
That is a GEM and also comes real cheap.
So is the newspaper strips collection from them.Absolute classic stuff.

I have read the entire thing and the binding is holding. It's not a huge mousetrap like other books its size. I'm not sure what his issue was with it.

I'm a huge fan of the story. Been reading the issues I didn't get to past the Eternia War and it slowed down some after that giant arc, but this damn He-man/Thundercats crossover is the bomb!

Not the ones from the toys.
Dark Horse published those in an HC "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Mini Comic Collection" back in 2015 (although the one's published after then are not included)

The DC stuff in the back has the best art in my opinion.
I kept seeing you praise this and like most grew up with heman cartoon and toys flash back to today and was on Netflix and hit play something ended up being the first episode of the show and inspired me to grab the omnibus can't wait to start reading :)
