Yes, it's true. In 2018 she had an overdose which caused 3 strokes and and a heart attack and she still has side effects from it. She also was sexually assaulted by her dealer in that night.

Yes, it’s true. She has struggled with drug addiction, PTSD from SA, body dysmorphia, eating disorder, etc. 💔😔💔
The music video is actually a re-enactment of the night she overdosed. I believe she even wore the same clothes she was wearing that night. The tubes you see in the opening frame is what she actually had done in the hospital. They were sewn into her neck taking the blood out, cleaning it and putting it back in. The sad thing is (and it's the reality of addiction) she shared in her documentary that soon after her overdose, she went out and used heroin again. Her story is powerful and meaningful to me because I am a substance use disorder clinician and have been in the field for just about 25 years. On an even more personal note, my ex-husband became addicted to pain medication (prescription opioids) then progressed to using crack cocaine and eventually, heroin and whatever he could get...this was all in his mid 40s. Goes to show it can literally happen to anyone. He has overdosed twice that I know of. It's a horrific, profoundly destructive disease. We have a significant opioid epidemic in the States and the death from overdose rate is staggering and isn't getting any better. The harsh truth is that if you don't find recovery, the other two options are you either end up in prison or you die from your addiction. Thank you for doing this reaction! It's a tough watch but very powerful.
what blows my mind is that she wasn't injecting that night; brain damage, heart attack, 3 strokes, partial blindness.. all because she smoked heroin laced with fentanyl (something that she didn't know) which resulted in almost costing her life, scary.
@@codezero7981 It's sad. Unfortunately, a lot of people believe the myth that you won't die from overdose if you don't inject. And when fentanyl is involved, it doesn't take much. It is more common than not these days for street drugs to be laced with fentanyl. Every single time a person uses, they are playing Russian Roulette with their life.
Production almost stopped making this video because she was so emotional. But she wanted to keep on cause it was raw and real. ❤

I have a few friends fighting the addiction of heroin and when u do it u really are gambling with ur life ..... U can do some out of it and be fine and then do some more out of the same bag and it kill u.... This song really hits hard.... She is so brave. She reenacted the entire evening in this video, down to the exact clothes and jacket that she was wearing. Her dealer sexually assaulted her at night and while she was unconscious he left her for dead. With a heart attacks and strokes she was put on a ventilator and on a heart machine and they had to pump and replace all of her blood directlyInto the artery in her neck which is where she got the tattoo later. She also woke up blind and didn’t recognize her sister when she came to see her because she couldn’t see. Her sister and best friend were represented in the video. It was strong of her to go through all of those moments again for this video for the sake of people to see what drugs will do to your life. She’s helped so many and is still struggling although she has returned to music. Her documentary is well worth watching

2:42- Watch Demi's documentary, look it up, this is real. Demi nearly died, they've been one of my favorite artists since I was a child. I'd be devastated if I had saw on the news if Demi died. I don't want another Amy Winehouse repeat(She left too soon too).
5:14- It's hard to watch the reenactment of Demi's dealer who sexually assaulted them. I get sad and angry.

a lot of addicts feel instantly guilty, even in the beginning of using, not just when its gotten really bad. and the guilt can make the addiction spiral out of control more. they feel terrible and want help but then they feel so shitty they just get high again. it becomes a whole thing that goes on and on and thats why getting and staying sober is so hard
I really recommend Anyone and also Sober as well, they really tell such emotional stories
