The tanks are very similar, what's being tested here is the players' performance.
Yes, you re right no matter what you re playing with tank plane boat etc if you dont know how to play it you will always have your butt fcked by outhers with a bad tank or outher bad vehicle. Need to know how you want to play trying to snipe from far and what kind of tanks that can give you that gameplay knowing that they re for that long distances kills, or trying to have a close combat with tough armor tanks because on top tier no matter the armor you have with the modern shells you will get killed in a matter of seconds
How would you recommend doing events like these in the future to compare the tank’s ability?

@@ThunderWithMuffin I think a night match would have been a fair addition to this test. With the exception of the M1A2 SEP (don't know about the AIM), the Abrams would definitely struggle with those piss-poor first-gen thermals. I can't attest to the Leopards' thermals, but this would be testing a lot of the capabilities of both vehicles in addition to their players' skill levels. That mountain map with the railway would have been a good recommendation.
@@ThunderWithMuffinmaybe do the videos in two sets? Have 2 different teams for both vehicles. It would also be nice to see how well abrams will fair against leos on more open long range maps.
My german main friend has a really campy playstyle and I as a Russia main have a very aggressive play style, and I find that to be a common mentality with Russia top tier players.
These matches showed more a player skill difference than the vehicles.
How would you recommend doing events like these in the future to compare the tank’s ability?
@ThunderWithMuffin I think if you can find players of a similar thunderskill rating it could help balance in. Or if each team had about the same average.
Not sure if you did this but you could let the team that lost select the next map to give them a chance to pick a map that might suit their vehicle better.
@@ThunderWithMuffin Have the players switch vehicles every round. This way there is more focus on vehicle performance.
@@ThunderWithMuffin I don’t think switching sides would solves the vehicles strengths. I agree on @boyes15 his view. Based on their rating they get to match against each other. Watching the german side gave me ptsd of how some of them plays like your typical 5.3 match.

Against what kind of CAS and what BR?
From WWII and progressively to top tier with more m163 added

@@ThunderWithMuffin but make sure to use the US M163 the Israeli one has the missiles and it’s supposed to represent the Phalanx system
@@ThunderWithMuffin CAS with large diameter unguided rockets (like Tiny Tims) would give the M163 a chance to shoot them down, that or the largest free-fall bombs like the Pe-8 Bomb or the new British one.
Maybe even set up a mission where the M163 CIWS have to protect a stationary Maus for a certain amount of time or something similar (removing the large bombs and limiting to large unguided WW2 rockets could give the M163s some breathing room as the Maus could survive getting hit if not unlucky).

the abrams team had better coordination, teamwork and strategy/gameplan.. and may I also suggest a battle of chobham armoured MBT's.. the M1A2 VS the chally 2(all variants)..

The only abrams that uses chobam is the original M1, but still that would be interesting to see
M1a2 sep v1-v4 doesn't use the same armor as the Chally, they're literally better than chally
Well I've vote to the Leopard2 team, not counting with the human factor...I would say this video didn't show the vehicles performance...rather the players compatence. Anyway it was cool, next time a Type 90/Type 10 vs Leopard or T-80s/T-90s/T-72B3 vs ZTZ 99/ZTZ 96?

@@ThunderWithMuffin I mean it was good, to compare, the 2 tanks has similar capabilities so the only the human factor can decide which team wins, I've wrote what I wrote to avoid such comments like "Booo the Leopard2 is a crap" and so on, because that wouldn't be the first time. And before I get that, no I haven't said that the competitors were noob, WarThunder is the hardest game that I've ever played with, not to mention most of the matches took place on urban or semi urban areas which is a pretty difficult to play. I've also noticed that players changed teams time to time. So there was no problem, and don't take it, moreover pls noone take it as an offense, I look forward to similar videos in the future. Am I a bit sad because the Leopard2 team get spanked? No, not really I love both types, maybe the Leo a bit more, so my only reaction was "Bruh, anyway, it was fun to watch". Was I disappointed? Well maybe, for tough 5 to 7 seconds, I was cheering for the Leopard2 team so badly, but it was entertaining to watch them. Actually I wanted to ask can we do similar matches with light vehicles like Radkampfwagen90 vs Type16 vs Centauros vs ZLT 11 or the IFVs/ISVs of different countries againts each other like Schützenpanzer PUMA vs BMP-3 or Marder1As vs BMP-2s. Stuff like that I would be curious to see who can perform better.
Anyway I can't and I won't suggest any changes because we can't measure the pure vehicle performance, the whole game is not about it as well, the game gives you vehicles with particural capabilities and measures how well you can use it, also how well your reflexes and situational awareness performs. I won't suggest changes because it was fun to watch, I didn't want to sound offensive, I just wanted to avoid further confrontations in the comments.

But with the result of 3-1 for the Abrams, I would say the Leo isn't really a good tool.
I feel like the only M1s you could use would be the M1A2 and the M1A2 SEP because I feel like with something like the M1A1 AIM a new player could buy it with GE and do this and then they don’t know what they are doing

I dont know if its been done already and I dont know if YT would like it, but id like to see NATO vs Warsaw Pact in Air vs SPAA with a third round as tanks if there is a tie. Or maybe East German vehicles vs West German Vehicles
The difficult thing with the abrams is it's very rare to one shot when front penning due to the crew layout
For everyone pointing out the fact that the outcomes tend to be based on a difference of skill, they are entirely correct. I've watched many Muffin videos and seen the (shockingly) large skill gap between the worst and the best war thunder players.
Ultimately I think there's almost no way to avoid this without undergoing a huge long term case study every video. Comparing the raw performance of the vehicles against each other is borderline impossible unless you have two people who have never played the game face off, or have literal bots 1v1. There will always be players who can kill a leo 2 with a locust, and there will always be players who can't kill a locust with a leo 2.
Anyways I'm an American main and I do honestly feel that no other outcome would have made sense. Throughout the American tech tree grind, players are trained to aim for weak spots and time reloads, generally using more of their brain than German mains. The minds of the players are literally trained differently based on their experience with their respective tech tree.
The funny thing is that we even had Abrams players join the leopard side and vice versa. I didn’t just want to do a best out of 3 round type video for this because I felt like more was needed with different scenarios.
The swedish leo's did better than the german leos in this regard the strv 122 plss killed alot in the last game and bounced alot of shots it did. I find germany players at 9.7 to be good but don't want to play high tier germany due to lack of tanks and lack of players that can hit weak points. The swedish line is honestly fun and takes skill to learn I love taking the bkan 1c to 11.7 because no one up there rembers that you could machine gun it to death instead they always try to apfsds the hull and don't kill me.
I do have to say this was a bit unfair the sep has gen 3 thermals but the 2a6 only has gen 2 gunners
Thermals in these maps made no difference, and thermals make a big difference for long-range battles
Both are great tanks. I'm a German main with Marder A1, Leo 2A5/A6/PL unlocked. Recently I've been planning to start playing the US.

I'm surprised you didn't choose Mozdok as a map. It's pretty well known with how most people play WarThunder that the Leopard 2s absolutely dominate at peaking up to take shots then moving back down. It's what they were made for irl. It kinda felt a lot of these maps except for kinda the last one were more beneficial for the Abrams. The last map was more evenly balanced but it felt obvious the Abrams would be better at fighting around buildings with how their turret cheeks are and front plate. The 2A7 or Strv 122 would be good choices for urban combat kinda but they're still build for a kind of peek-a-boo playstyle.

team A ABRAMS
team B LEOPARDS
and make 2 parts video
first video 1v1 5v5 15v15
secon video team will swap tank so 1v1 5v5 15v15
so in second video team A will have LEOPARDS and team B ABRAMS
and again 1v1 5v5 15v15
this way you will have first video with pro players playing with tank they know
and second video with theyr gameplay but with tank they barely know how to play with
this way people will be able to see 2 side of those thank one with player who knew theyr tank and second side with player who have some experience but now with the vehicle they play
Having only participants that have both tanks could and then switch sides completely could be a good suggestion

Imagine If the Leo won, it would have been like "damn, taste our mighty German engineering, Krupp steel iz da bezt"
I mean yeah, both the tanks have the same performance, from max speed, weight, firepower and turret rotation. And the Abrams even has more frontal weak spots than the Leo. And in a game like War Thunder, we already don't count stuffs like fuel time, transmission strength, air condition, or such.
But there's something that put the Abrams over the Leo (stop coping about the player's skill). It's the ammo storage, the Abrams has its all ammo stored on its turret's back, while the Leo has to split a significant amount of ammo to put on its hull's front. If you don't want to put ammo in the hull, you only have 15 rounds to survive with.
The other thing is the Abrams's look is much better than the Leo, which boosted the player's morale. Like you have a much hotter chick compare to your enemies.
In the conclusion, I don't want to play the humble card, I will say the Abrams wins because it's better. It has proven itself in real life while the Leo was still sitting and chilling at home at the time.
Average armchair analyst, youve got opinions. Not much else. It doesnt matter that you're only taking 16 rounds. That's more than enough for anyone at toptier to do their part for the team.
