Why China developed just in 70 years times after independence in 1949???? It took USA 200 years to develop after USA got independence in 1776 but China did it just in 70 years times...
There was no proper Marxism ideology communism/socialism in USSR during 1960-1990 so USSR collapsed. USSR was going back to feudalism after 1980 so it collapsed. China was following communism perfectly during cultural revolution(1966-1976) so China did not collapse. Mao improved education system and educated all Chinese children since 1950 to 1970 and controlled corruption totally so China made progress very fast. Western nations and intellectuals already declared that China will be economic superpower after 60 years times and it proved right. So American spy agency CIA and Nixon Administration decided to invest in China to establish so called Western Democracy in China but failed..."Western democracy" means feudalism and exploitation and it would have collapsed China totally like USSR and made China a failed and poor nation.., But Chinese leaders were very wise, intellectuals so they never establish so called Western Democracy in China and China surpassed USA, Japan and Europe in infrastructure development now....

India's reputation as a center of scientific excellence owes much to the foresight of Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee, who served as Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University. With the generous support of philanthropists Rashbehari Ghosh and Tarakhnath Palit, the prestigious University College of Science & Technology (UCSTA) was established in 1914. This landmark institution attracted some of India's brightest scientific minds, including luminaries such as CV Raman, JC Ghosh, Satyendranath Bose, Meghnad Saha, Prafulla Chandra Ray, PC Mahalanobis, Debendra Mohan Bose, Gansh Prasad among others who played a pivotal role in putting India on the global map of scientific and technological achievement.

Wonderful, I enjoyed it very much. I have the highest regard for Prof. Desiraju, both as a scientist and as a public intellectual. We need Abhijit to have more such conversations with men and women of such high caliber and integrity. At the same time, I regret a bit that the great professor did not mention the name of Satish Dhawan, possibly the finest Director that the Institute had and one of the finest minds that India produced. Dhawan was not an ordinary person, he was a force of nature. He went on to become the Director of ISRO and set it on a path to its current glory. I once came across a book titled "bird flight," which came out of Dhawan's hobby of watching the nuances of the aerodynamics of bird flight - one doesn't have to look beyond that book to appreciate the genius of Dhawan. I get goosebumps whenever I come across the man's achievements. Men and women of such piercing intellect, steel will and strength of character is what India needs. There is no need for too many of them (and there aren't that many of them around anyway, they are a rare breed), just a handful of them can change the course of a country and history. In the context of Indian science and technology, a few others who belong in that category are Homi Bhabha, C.V.Raman, Visweswarayya, Vikram Sarabhai.

This is so beautifully presented to us sir. Thanks a lot to both of you to take us through your walk and talk about one of the gems of Indian Science. I think this episode must be watched by everyone who has a liking to science to understand the ethos behind building a legendary building such as this. I will surely have a lot more respect when I visit the campus for Open day this year.
