he started doing martial arts when he was 8 years old in a martial arts school, he used to train 8 hours a day, 6 days a week and only had one day off, he did that same training until he was 16 years old, that's pretty brutal considering nowadays if you go to martial arts training the trainers only train you 2 to 3 hours max, not only that jet is also expert in handling weapons such as sword, knifes, staffs etc, add all that and he is a very dangerous opponent whether you are ufc fighter or not.

People hate on lw4 but it was made at a different time lol the first three were basically that 80s vibe ( yes lw3 in 92 still was 80s ish) but by 1998, action film making aesthetics were totally different. I love all four films you just gotta put them in perspective.

Jet Li is aware of the strength/weakness of boxing. if he realized boxing was superior to CHINESE KUNG FU, he'd have immediately started going to boxing gyms and learn boxing. but...i don't think he ever considered even for a second of doing it.
at the time of Lethal Weapon 4, he was literally unstoppable in the world. But, he's a non-violent person like Shaolin Monks so he wouldn't go fight to prove he's unstoppable. anyone who "knows", you should be able to see it when he's moving around in his films. it might not be his full capabilities, but even his "film" kung fu is enough to be better than most "professional fighters" at the time.

Honestly boxing is all about punches while martial arts is variant. IT has styles and of different kinds which included from punching, to poking, to targetting nerves and key points in body to kicks to you name it. MArtial arts will win you a fight in street, I don't think boxing will do that in reality.

Even in the eyes of our Chinese, even the most powerful boxers in China or the bodyguard of the world's head of state are not necessarily rivals for Jet Li, but also he is physically overweight.
