- This video is on my 1995 Kona Disco that I've taken out on a few bikepacking trips over the summer. I am adding a few needed upgrades that will benefit the geometry of this bike greatly.

This has to be one of my favorite bike paint jobs on UA-cam. Nicely done.
Thank you!
13:21 when the glitter paint came out though! 😳😳🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥🔥🌈🌈
Another awesome one! Catching more views on beautiful trails is such a great reason to ride upright! It totally changes your perspective. Love it. Thanks Cowboy Tomi.
Thank you!
The 99 style kona stickers is what I love . And all the colors you put into it.
Thank you! 90s Kona graphics are the best especially the 99 style!
@@CowboyTomi yea agree there. I've a 99 chute and stinky deelux and a 2000manomano and I love ❤ the decals.you have made that bike of yours look amazin
I love Kona bikes even at 58 years old I have a Kona Kula in champagne gold 19 inc frame and rides very nice .
That paint job is so F-ing sick! Well done 👍
Thanks BOb! you about to paint that surly?
Everyone's already said it but that paint job is amazing! Thanks for sharing! Love watching these (re)builds/mods/restorations and getting inspired to maybe do my own at some point.
Thank you! It is such a great feeling restoring something, highly recommend it to those who've been wanting to!
Looks great! Love the rebuild and the paint job 👍🏻
Thank you!
Definitely left the 90s behind on this one! Great job!
we love a make over!! always changing always growing 😌🦋
Hi from France, ils a wonderfull paintjob and re building. Gj
Thank you so much! Cheers from South Seattle!
Wow it was only the other day I watched you build this 😀
Thanks for watching!!
Awesome paint! Glitter is a great idea, just a hint of the early Kona's splatter finish👍
Hope you get some work customising frames from this :-)
Thank you!
Nice job man! I just happened to rewatch the initial build of this bike a few days ago. Wishing I was back in the PNW so you could do one of mine!
Thank you!
Any time! A tip for painting over your decals, apply a coat of the base layer over the top of the decal before switching to the top coat color. That will keep the top coat from seeping under the decal and should leave you with a cleaner edge.
Great video! Thank you Cowboy Tomi :) really nice to watch your videos! I wanted to ask what brand is that stem extension as I am looking for one too. I need one with the hollow tube and so I can fit an extra extension on top to get to a 20 cm lenght. Thank you :)
Awesome build! But where do you get the drill pants????
Thanks! They were thrifted when I was living in New York a few years go!
I like your styles!
Thank you!
I like the outro dude.
Thanks!
Cowboy
Great build! You definitely have the “vision thing” with paint schemes.
Wondering why you and others use abrasive techniques to remove old paint as prep for new color. Why not just use chemical stripper to easily remove finish to bare metal? Also exposes small dents and pitting for easy filling. This is what I do and seems easier with smooth frame finish.
Thank you! Yes, I could've used stripper, but didn't have any with me and I was just so eager to just get the ball rolling on this build since I've already built it once ahah!
hello. awesome build
what's the brand of the threadless adapter you used? i'm in need of one with that kind of rise
Thanks in advance
Did you use the center bolt that came with the Cigne stem that goes straight down into the steerer tube or star nut?
@@ungarlinski7965 i used a star nut inside the steerer because it was converted to a threadless headset!
another great build!
Thanks brdu=dder
why the paints flaking off? Label printer? wow, so pro!
Thanks! Yes, clear coat was applied x3!
Sick rebuild 🤘🏻
Thank you!!
Sick build! where can we get some Coyboy Tomi Stickers?
Gorgeous...I gotta try this holographic effect. Thanks for this! Did you put on clear coat after the decals and glitter? Or at some point in between? Or not at all?
Great style, ty for the videos.
Thank you!
Great video! Hey what fender is that on the bottom tube! I’m having trouble finding fenders for my 89 diamondback I converted to a commuter Thanks!
Thank you! It is the PDW Origami fender.
Awesome! Super affordable too. I messaged you a picture of the bike on Instagram
@@reumpipes Just saw!! looks like an amazing bike!
Hi from Italy Nice video I love your rear rack which model is it?
Hey, thank you! It’s the Carradice bagman rack.
@@CowboyTomireally? At 1:55 minute? I have a bagman but it’s completely different
@@Fulviolosmilzo ohhh that one is by portland design works, for revelate terrapin saddle bags
@@CowboyTomi oh wow I like it very much
Why do you think the paint didn't work out the first time? I like the second paint job more!
Thank you! That’s a great question, I felt it had something to do with the blue metallic paint quality. It didn’t adhere as well as solid colors do. So with this second paint job, I decided to use a different paint company Montana and applied three coats of varnish over the glitter. It seems it made a huge difference in durability!
Even better👍
Great stuff, keep it up!
Thank you!
Hello! Really like your build. May i ask how did you install your cigne stem top screw to the stem adapter?
Thanks! Great question, I ended up having to order a longer M6 screw so that it can reach the bottom of the thread inside the wedge.
Sometime after the build was done, I eventually ended up swapping the whole front end with a threadless headset/fork with disc mounts since it since it came with a 1 1/8" headtube anyways.
Bravo. 👏
Thank you!
Waoow broo thats sick!!
Thank you!
good job
Thank you!
hi sir, where did you buy those disc brake mounts? i want to convert my vintage bike to discbrake too
You can find them on framebuildersupply.com!
@@CowboyTomi thank you sir, hope they ship in the Philippines
I was thinking to paint my bike, looks like if you're not a professional, the paint will always chip away
Yeah I agree! It was chipping so easily because I didn’t apply enough coats of clear coat. This time I added three coats and used a different primer! Hopefully it’ll be more durable!
Sickness 💯💯💯💯💯💯
💯
U should get an ultrasonic cleaner for your build
I thought that Cigne Stem was Threadless but it looked like this bike was threaded, can you walk through how that works?
Yes of course. I had to use a threadless stem adapter to install the stem. However, it is a 1 1/8 threaded headset, so it can take a threadless headset if it needed to. It'll possibly be updated to a threadless fork in the future.
Another great one!
Dang how tall are you. That seat post is so high
it does look high, but it’s just the geo of the frame. I’m only 5’7
We left your phone with the rest area attendant
Thank you so much! And thank you for the selfie!
I do remember the bike, but I do not remember the handlebar... I absolutely need info!
Yeah I added those bars shortly after the first video was done. I just updated the description with the full bike info! Thank you!
@@CowboyTomi thank to you mate for the amazing content!
how did you get the sparkle ?
It’s a spray called the hologram glitter by Montana Sprah company! It acts as a clear glossy varnish too!
What is the fork adapter u use?
It's a threadless stem adapter with an internal allen screw! But It's not that great, since this bike had a 1 1/8 head tube, I eventually fully converted it to threadless with a 1 1/8" threadless fork.
you always wear such nice clothes when you work on bikes 😭 how do you not get them all dirty
Thank you! Trust me, they all get really dirty haha!
Make more vids
Kona Haha Nah.
bad repainting
Thanks!
