- Dave2D review of the Razer Nommo Chroma. The best speakers from Razer if you’re looking for a clean modern look.
Purchase Here - amzn.to/2DFoYxf
With RGB - amzn.to/2Fj20MT
Razer’s Nommo line is finally released and the clarity is much better than expected for its price. Engineered with glass fiber parts to provide crisp audio. Rear-facing bass ports compliment the front speakers and help provide very accurate positional awareness while gaming. The Razer Nommo Chroma comes with a USB connection for even better audio compared to a 3.5 mm jack.
Audio Test Track:
Robotaki - Together We're Screwed
Background Music:
Fili - Smooth Rides

Surprisingly good speakers from Razer. I wish my mic was better to pickup the actual audio quality though. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Dave Lee LOVE U DADDY
Sign my face plz
Dave Lee I really like the design. Do they sound good for Movie/Music??
Um, Dave uses a professional $15,000 RED Digital Cinema camera rig and then doesn't use a better mic? What's up with that?
Please gawd, just stop with the RGB lighting already
They look just like wall-e 's eyes
Wall-E is making a comeback...
lol
Not if you've watched Wall-E over 50 times
What's that
So I guess this is what happened to the Pixar lamp
At this point, Blizzard needs to just partner with Dave already
Trying to hear how good those speakers sound on my bad speakers. Doesn't work so well.
Why you are so Honest ? Awesome Review :)
Keep in mind, "sounding good" is very subjective. For gaming they're pretty amazing, for casual audio listening they're ok, but they have a huge mid presence and very little high end. Obviously the Nommo Pros with the separate tweeters and sub probably blow the lower end ones away [full disclosure, haven't heard the Nommo pro] Honestly, you're probably better off for balanced sound with something like the Bose companion 2s [$99.00], though the Nommo Chroma *DO* have Amazingly superior sound stage by comparison. IMO, had they kept the nommo pro tweeters on all three models, the lower ends would probably be well worth the price and then some. As is, the sound is very mid focused, midbass is muddy, and low end is meh.
Razor getting THX certification is like Samsung getting AKG certification 😂 kinda pointless considering they own the companies giving them the accolade.
I’m very sure that is the only reason they bought them
Juan Carballo Asus get harman, HP get JBL (maybe).
Juan Carballo but they did say that THX acts as a separate entity from razer.
Actually, that's incorrect. They still have to go through various tests to get the certification. If you think they just slap it on, then you're wrong.
@@Tomiply They do but it still means nothing because Razer lowered the standards
razer is trying to be known for everything nowadays. I'm proud of the big push they're making.
nisis1 everything for pc gaming yes
Logitech Z623 has also a subwoofer, two elements per speaker and better positioning for headphone input. And about the same price.
FUCK this Razer crap
yea but those look like shit
Hello Dave.. noticed that you are using google play music as a streaming service.. felt like it would be great if you compare and review them side by side.. Play vs Spotify vs Apple Music vs UA-cam Red vs etc.. Longing to know your view points..
$99 is cheap i thought it was gonna be 100$ or more i was scared !
How is $99 dollars cheap but $100 is not?
Basically the same price.
@@nairncrawford954
Oooof. It's a stupid sarcastic joke.
*cough*... check the nommo pro
@@nairncrawford954 r/woooosh
I like the design. It fits well with a minimalist desk setup.
I LIKED! Damnn the design 😍
Look like they can shoot laser, and with good sound!
I'm still using amazing Monsoon mh350 speakers from the 90s lol. They sound awesome and they fill the whole house
Logitech Z333 for at least half price but this is actually a fair deal especially that it offers good positional audio
I like when Dave zooms in and touches things. It's the reason I watch his videos specifically.
Except, the ones you’re using are the $150 version not the $99 version. Why do you keep referring to them as the base model? The DAC is going to make the quality much better in the ones you tested.
The majority of my use (and the sound test in the video) was done with the auxiliary cable which doesn't go through the DAC
Your intros are just so amazing.
Hey Dave, do you know if these would be great for a TV for movies in addition to your mention of games?
Lemme know! Great video!
the fact you played Robotaki
2:11 oneplus 5t rocked with headphone jack
I have a 30$ of Logitech speakers, I don't think multiplying the price by 3 is gonna change anything significantly enough. They're awesome, get them and save money
The design would be extra neat with height adjustment
Thanks so much for the review! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy it, but you sold me. Thanks 💯
I doubt they could have good quality for that price considering the RGB and Brand takes a large cut of that pricetag. Maybe they have better audio than built in Laptop speakers or Razer's gaming headphones but I doubt they could compare to normal 60$ speakers.
Considering the hype from multiple reviewers who are very honest and do not particularly love razer products (as in they use steelseries, logitech, open back headphones) I am pretty sure these are good quality. Remember, the $99 ones don't have rgb.
Well Razer bought THX in 2016
Intro is dope!
does it take extra editing time to have the video end at 4:20
NiCe
You should do some speaker reviews. You mention multiple through the video, so it sounds like you k ow what you're talking about. Personally, I'm building a set up for college now, so it would be awesome to know who h computer speakers are the best. 😊 Awesome video though, you're my fav tech UA-camr. 😀👍
There could be a big difference in the sound quality with the $99 and $150 versions. A good DAC can go a long way. Personally, I would pay the $50 extra for the DAC and the USB connection, that way you don't have to use your computer's standard DAC.
What is DAC? what are they for?
This speaker's won't even use the advantages of the DAC. The only case that you would benefit from using it is if your mobo has a loud hiss. Anyway your better off buying external DAC that you can use with headphones too like Fiio K1.
I've been looking for a good set of speakers. Perfect timing Dave!
IF the base 99$ speakers have the base dial - then imo that’s a pretty good deal for what appears to be well-reviewed audio.
If not then the jump to 159$ makes these obsolete
Thanks dude, i was hoping for you to review this
Overpriced for sure. It doesn’t even have a tweeter. If you want really good sounding small speakers for cheap here are some suggestions:
1. Mackie CR3 - $99
2. Micca PB42X Powered - $119
3. Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III - $149
DavidSaganHD jbl lsr 305
Well...their supposed to be full range speakers and thus, don't require a tweeter. Razer just either EQ'd these speakers like shit, or they are using cheap full range drivers that aren't able to produce the highs very well.
vaxick Full range or not your gonna lose something when you have all that sound just coming out of single drivers. You either have great bass and mediocre detail or vice versa. With a tweeter the detail is taken care of by the tweeter and the larger driver can do the work of mids and bass.
Senec Tarius Those are great although a bit larger and more expensive compared to these
DavidSaganHD that‘s correct. But I would say they are worth it. Especially if you plan to buy the razer System in the 5.1 version. Because than the razors are just to expensive and overpriced.
I remember you said your friend does his own mixes for your background music.
This one is my favorite song you've used. So smooth.
i would love to see more videos on speakers since i'm looking for a fair-priced (cheaper, cus im a student) speaker that will last a long time. please make a comparison video or list video with some good options if you have the opportunity!
honestly the best speaker you can under $200 are jbl lsr305s. theyre sold separately(100ish each monitor). i think massdrop has them for $180. they are self powered so you dont need an amp. another decent option are the micca pb42s, theyre also self powered so no amp. and can be had for $120
I picked up a pair of JBL control 1 speakers for £60, powered by a £20 TA2020 digital amp. The JBLs are easy to drive and sound great
I'm pretty sure I can't tell the sound quality from the mono speaker from my phone lol
Are they better than the Harmon kardon soundsticks? Been using them for years and need a change
how about a comparison to the logitech mx sound? its also 99 dollars stereo speakers plus bluetooth connectivity

I sure your subscribers will very happy about this.
Firstly: really dig the intro :D
Secondly: I think the $50 more for rgb and a USB connection (including a DAC) is actually pretty justifiable. DACs aren't cheap, and rgb lighting is pretty popular, and if you were looking for an rgb DAC it probably would be a lot more than 50 bucks...
Chaphasilor agreed
Good dacs aren't cheap mine was 13 bucks and it gets the job done
1301407gl it probably sounds like shit
Narindra Singh sounds good to me no complains. It was a huge upgrade from plugging a 3.5 into my TV's headphone out
1301407gl sounds like it would be
Liking before watching 'cause you know content creation on this channel is always amazing
Couldn't make it a $100...
Big Biscuits fuck u
It will be after tax
108 after tax
unless you live in the places with no sales tax.
why wouldn't you wanna save a dollar
Hey Dave are you gonna review the hp omen x laptop with gtx 1080? Would really like to hear your poinion on it! Hope you read this. Cheers!
RGB speakers. That's enough internet for me today.
Ben i mean, better than a RGB mousepad xD
Next are RGB Watches.
AppleFan935 I know right, it costs hell alot.
Dave2Dave Another great video review but I'm concerned...did you get enough sleep before you shot this video?
Hairdryer -- speaker.
At first glace I thought this was a security camera review haha. Awesome product though, thanks Dave!
I have the razer leviathan and it sounds really good for the price + the bass is fantastic and i wanna know what the difference is between these( bookshelf speakers) and mine (soundbar)
LEGEND HAS IT DAVE NEVER RESPONDS
*Dave2D is an amazing D. Va*
Cool, happy to hear it! As an RGB fanboy I'll wait for a nice sale price on the $150 version.
i finally found my hair dryer
yo Dave, can I know what is the keyboard that you used for playing the shooting game in this video ? also, what is the game title ?
he went over all of his set up in one of the last videos I think. office tour.
zeem buo Game is Overwatch.
I think it's drevo caliber (or something like that)
Yeah, at that price there are many better options out there. If you really just want a quick and dirty gamery plug and play PC system, then you can easily find Logitech's Z623 2.1 (THX certified) or Klipsch's ProMedia 2.1 systems for around $119 USD at Amazon, Best Buy, Micro Center and the like. Really though, for $100-150 USD, you can buy some seriously great bookshelf speakers to pair with an inexpensive Class T or D amp for a much higher quality audio and gaming experience. I'm currently running a pair of Bic America DV62si bookshelves with an SMSL A2 Class D amplifier. In total, it was about $150, but the audio quality is far superior to even my old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. With this Razer set, you're paying for the design and small size, not the sound. It's probably acceptable, especially if you've never heard better, but your money can definitely take you further if you care about sound quality. I'd be fine pairing these with a laptop, but I sure wouldn't have them as part of my main desktop system or other general theater or home audio solution. I mean, you can also get decent small studio monitors for $100 these days. Check out the Mackie CR3s or PreSonus Eris E3.5s. Personally, I think they're overall a better value at the same price. But, of course, no RGB.
JesseArt even creative kratos s5 is cheaper if you need rbg lightning and you get a subwoofer with better bass not as great as Logitech Z623 but it’s better than the razer
Batman The dark knight I haven't listened to the Kratos, although I do have a soft spot for Creative products having been an owner of the original Creative Zen M (mp3 player from years ago that competed with the now obsolete iPod). Their cheaper 2.1 systems do get the job done, but spend a little more for their desktop 2.0 systems like the T40 or T50 and you'll be a happy camper. I think the T40 II are around $80 USD? The T50s are a bit more since they have Bluetooth and NFC. Going back to Razer's unique design, one of the advantages to having boxy speaker designs, besides deeper bass due to more volume, is mounting versatility. They're easy to stick up on a wall or even mount on each end of your monitor like I did with my old T40s. Those are pretty great, 2 mid to full range woofers with a tweeter in the center. Loved those things.
Just got the regular Nommos last week. Surprisingly decent
I trust every review you do. I don't even trust my own mother like that...
I like how Razer makes new stuff and manages to make really good products in the first try.
Verdict: Not enough RGB
Tech Thusiast I see you all over
So which speakers would you say are the best for $99? A video with speakers around that price point would be great!
It looks like the Pixar lamp
IAMJP28 XD IT DOES!!!
Thanks a lot, now I want to buy them and make some modifications which I am definitely not skilled enough to do 😂
is there an option to set it to stun or is it just to kill?
is it available in india ??
They look really interesting. I think this is one of those things that will appeal to those already knee deep in the Razor ecosystem. I think the pro chroma look really good! Great video
how did you buy this in Canada?
Exposed speaker cones? I learned my lesion a long time ago when I took the wooden grilles off my Sansui floor speakers and my cat "played" with them....lol
Lol I thought it was a security camera at first. After reading the title I thought it was a microphone😂 I’m a dumbass
So what would the best speakers for 99$ be? I'm looking to upgrade my desk setup and my speakers now are getting pretty bad
abito ask in r/budgetaudiophile or a good forum to get better responses than youtube.
so rgb is the only different between this and $99 pair?
no, It also has a DAC apparently.
thanks, fast reply btw
Zhihang Liu no problem bro 😉
Honestly, Dave, your video's are always on point, and I'm always happy to see you upload. Keep up the good work!^^
Was wondering when Razer was going to use THX after buying them out.
all their devices are THX certified now. their razer blade is even the Worlds first mobile device to be certified. hmmm i wonder why that could be.
What is the monitor dave is using at 2:45? Looks nice and sleek.
1000$ gaming laptop 2018 comparison? Please dave. On the market rn. Thanks
really need this as i have to buy one and none of the big youtubers have such a video..
To prevent the wobbling, you could stick some small neodymium magnets to the table and the speaker.
Thought that were security cameras haha
what is your setup for gaming in this video? dope!
50$ more for usb connection. damn.
I would get these but it seems like for $100 you should get a subwoofer too. Do these have enough bass?
Big Homie nope you need a subwoofer for room shaking bass.
Big Homie these don't go low enough.
hey you get 2 headphone stands for the price too!
Did Razer ever say what the DAC chip is? Could it be worth the increase? Does the RGB have better sound compared to the base model using a laptop's built in sound?
Find out next time on Dave 2 D!
I checked other sites, and Razer's announcement. It only says 'built in DAC'
I'm literally watching this through these exact speakers
Shaun komino
What’s the monitor that you used when you were playing?
I thought that they are cameras...
Hey Dave can you review the Eluktronics P650HS-G, I found it on amazon and I'm curious what you think about the laptop.
Thanks :)
Wow
The video is 4:20
You learning from david's vlogs
They look like a blend of security camera and a desk lamp.
Moment you said. RGB lighting, I am like... Fuck these....
arunashamal There is a non-RGB version for 50 $ less. What's your problem?
You can get it without rgb for 99. Rgb for 149
Thoughts on using these with a TV? I know it sounds weird...
Do a video of the best $99 price range speakers. Pls
Rafael H.Bagur Yes. This is necessary.
Just get the Trust Tytan 2.1 for 60Dollars, it has a 120Watt Sub (60Watt RMS, it's very good if u like bass.
Hi Dave may I know which monitor u using in this video?
Ng Zong Jie looks like a dell ultra sharp!
omg please dont tell any one so its stays a secret
Please don't buy dell products.
I'm just partial to Asus when it comes to monitors, laptops and motherboards.
Proxy partial no way i just bought a laptop with an 120 hz ips panel and it rocks! No dead pixels trust me the only bad things this laptop has or Asus in general is BAD OVER 90 DEGREES CELSIUS! but gaming wise their laptop gpu is the best since my friend got an aorus and it was worse than my 1070 massive drop in overwatch from 170 to 130 fps whilst keeping the same settings.
Hey Dave,
Just a few things. I think you really underestimated Razer and maybe weren't totally familiar with their line or the company's recent history.
Razer owns THX. they have for a while now, ever since Lucasfilm split. Secondly Razer has been making speakers for about 3 years now. Their soundbar line is really great, has lots of features and sound really good. I'm putting my soundbar in my custom arcade cabinet because it's form factor makes sense.
Anyway, I think there's a huge misconception on what Razer was several years ago and what it is now. When it was the "CULT OF RAZER" it was a trashy kind of company. Min-Liang Tan has been a really great CEO and pushed the company is really great directions.
Glad that it doesn't have the Razer Trampstamp!
I've never seen this product before! Great review.
At this point, the only thing they need to make is a monitor and a chair.
Now we just need the chair.
@@ok-jk5gy now we're done.
So should I get these or the Klipsch Promedia 2.1n's? Also, can you hook these up to your TV? That's what I want to do with them but I will mostly use them for gaming. (On Xbox)
For 179 you could get a pair of jbl lsr305's which are waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than this chroma thing. But it costs a little more
Best review of these ive seen. Thanks!
