Keep in mind, "sounding good" is very subjective. For gaming they're pretty amazing, for casual audio listening they're ok, but they have a huge mid presence and very little high end. Obviously the Nommo Pros with the separate tweeters and sub probably blow the lower end ones away [full disclosure, haven't heard the Nommo pro] Honestly, you're probably better off for balanced sound with something like the Bose companion 2s [$99.00], though the Nommo Chroma *DO* have Amazingly superior sound stage by comparison. IMO, had they kept the nommo pro tweeters on all three models, the lower ends would probably be well worth the price and then some. As is, the sound is very mid focused, midbass is muddy, and low end is meh.
Hello Dave.. noticed that you are using google play music as a streaming service.. felt like it would be great if you compare and review them side by side.. Play vs Spotify vs Apple Music vs UA-cam Red vs etc.. Longing to know your view points..
I doubt they could have good quality for that price considering the RGB and Brand takes a large cut of that pricetag. Maybe they have better audio than built in Laptop speakers or Razer's gaming headphones but I doubt they could compare to normal 60$ speakers.
Considering the hype from multiple reviewers who are very honest and do not particularly love razer products (as in they use steelseries, logitech, open back headphones) I am pretty sure these are good quality. Remember, the $99 ones don't have rgb.
Razor getting THX certification is like Samsung getting AKG certification 😂 kinda pointless considering they own the companies giving them the accolade.
Actually, that's incorrect. They still have to go through various tests to get the certification. If you think they just slap it on, then you're wrong.
i would love to see more videos on speakers since i'm looking for a fair-priced (cheaper, cus im a student) speaker that will last a long time. please make a comparison video or list video with some good options if you have the opportunity!
honestly the best speaker you can under $200 are jbl lsr305s. theyre sold separately(100ish each monitor). i think massdrop has them for $180. they are self powered so you dont need an amp. another decent option are the micca pb42s, theyre also self powered so no amp. and can be had for $120
You should do some speaker reviews. You mention multiple through the video, so it sounds like you k ow what you're talking about. Personally, I'm building a set up for college now, so it would be awesome to know who h computer speakers are the best. 😊 Awesome video though, you're my fav tech UA-camr. 😀👍
There could be a big difference in the sound quality with the $99 and $150 versions. A good DAC can go a long way. Personally, I would pay the $50 extra for the DAC and the USB connection, that way you don't have to use your computer's standard DAC.
This speaker's won't even use the advantages of the DAC. The only case that you would benefit from using it is if your mobo has a loud hiss. Anyway your better off buying external DAC that you can use with headphones too like Fiio K1.
Firstly: really dig the intro :D Secondly: I think the $50 more for rgb and a USB connection (including a DAC) is actually pretty justifiable. DACs aren't cheap, and rgb lighting is pretty popular, and if you were looking for an rgb DAC it probably would be a lot more than 50 bucks...
IF the base 99$ speakers have the base dial - then imo that’s a pretty good deal for what appears to be well-reviewed audio. If not then the jump to 159$ makes these obsolete
Except, the ones you’re using are the $150 version not the $99 version. Why do you keep referring to them as the base model? The DAC is going to make the quality much better in the ones you tested.
Hello Dave... Congrats! Your subscribers now is more than 1 million. I'm glad and so proud to this channel. Would you like to hold a giveaway for your subscribers? I sure your subscribers will very happy about this.
I have a 30$ of Logitech speakers, I don't think multiplying the price by 3 is gonna change anything significantly enough. They're awesome, get them and save money
They first came out with the MAKO which i think alsy THX certified. Then later on they came out with the leviathan and leviathan mini. Those I have and love them. Great sound and great look.
Exposed speaker cones? I learned my lesion a long time ago when I took the wooden grilles off my Sansui floor speakers and my cat "played" with them....lol
you know what's a great speakers pair ? A Mackie CR4 Studio monitors - these things are LOUD and I don't mean obnoxiosly loud , but crystal clear loud, for the price they are just perfect.
Overpriced for sure. It doesn’t even have a tweeter. If you want really good sounding small speakers for cheap here are some suggestions: 1. Mackie CR3 - $99 2. Micca PB42X Powered - $119 3. Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III - $149
Well...their supposed to be full range speakers and thus, don't require a tweeter. Razer just either EQ'd these speakers like shit, or they are using cheap full range drivers that aren't able to produce the highs very well.
vaxick Full range or not your gonna lose something when you have all that sound just coming out of single drivers. You either have great bass and mediocre detail or vice versa. With a tweeter the detail is taken care of by the tweeter and the larger driver can do the work of mids and bass.
DavidSaganHD that‘s correct. But I would say they are worth it. Especially if you plan to buy the razer System in the 5.1 version. Because than the razors are just to expensive and overpriced.
What bookshelf speakers look awesome Also really the entire reason for treble and bass knobs is to customize the sound please no automatic fixing in audio that’s a one way ticket to crappy audio
If I already have an Audioengine D1 DAC connected to my pc would this give me a double DAC advantage? I can only imagine how clean it sounds. And how no one but me will notice or care.
Yeah i guess you can't double DAC, fail. The D1 does make a difference in increasing the soundstage, so if you're wearing headphones the instruments aren't in a narrow field, they're more spread out. Songs do sound clearer with better highs and bass. I'd recommenced buying it but don't expect too much, your songs will still sound like your songs, it's the subtle changes that make the difference.
Slayer203 you can’t double dac, one dac converts the signal to analogue, so another dac would do nothing because it would be receiving an analogue signal
I'm extremely picky when it comes to cord management. The wire and port placement on these speakers seems poorly thought out. For pretty much just that reason, I'll wait for the next generation to come out.
They look really interesting. I think this is one of those things that will appeal to those already knee deep in the Razor ecosystem. I think the pro chroma look really good! Great video
I have the razer leviathan and it sounds really good for the price + the bass is fantastic and i wanna know what the difference is between these( bookshelf speakers) and mine (soundbar)
Yeah, at that price there are many better options out there. If you really just want a quick and dirty gamery plug and play PC system, then you can easily find Logitech's Z623 2.1 (THX certified) or Klipsch's ProMedia 2.1 systems for around $119 USD at Amazon, Best Buy, Micro Center and the like. Really though, for $100-150 USD, you can buy some seriously great bookshelf speakers to pair with an inexpensive Class T or D amp for a much higher quality audio and gaming experience. I'm currently running a pair of Bic America DV62si bookshelves with an SMSL A2 Class D amplifier. In total, it was about $150, but the audio quality is far superior to even my old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. With this Razer set, you're paying for the design and small size, not the sound. It's probably acceptable, especially if you've never heard better, but your money can definitely take you further if you care about sound quality. I'd be fine pairing these with a laptop, but I sure wouldn't have them as part of my main desktop system or other general theater or home audio solution. I mean, you can also get decent small studio monitors for $100 these days. Check out the Mackie CR3s or PreSonus Eris E3.5s. Personally, I think they're overall a better value at the same price. But, of course, no RGB.
JesseArt even creative kratos s5 is cheaper if you need rbg lightning and you get a subwoofer with better bass not as great as Logitech Z623 but it’s better than the razer
Batman The dark knight I haven't listened to the Kratos, although I do have a soft spot for Creative products having been an owner of the original Creative Zen M (mp3 player from years ago that competed with the now obsolete iPod). Their cheaper 2.1 systems do get the job done, but spend a little more for their desktop 2.0 systems like the T40 or T50 and you'll be a happy camper. I think the T40 II are around $80 USD? The T50s are a bit more since they have Bluetooth and NFC. Going back to Razer's unique design, one of the advantages to having boxy speaker designs, besides deeper bass due to more volume, is mounting versatility. They're easy to stick up on a wall or even mount on each end of your monitor like I did with my old T40s. Those are pretty great, 2 mid to full range woofers with a tweeter in the center. Loved those things.
Please don't buy these a Dayton Audio B652-AIR with a Pyle PFA300 amp will blow this out of the water. If the the dayton is too large for you, you should purchase the Micca MB42X (needs an amp too). FFS these don't even have dedicated tweeters.
Surprisingly good speakers from Razer. I wish my mic was better to pickup the actual audio quality though. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Dave Lee LOVE U DADDY
Sign my face plz
Dave Lee I really like the design. Do they sound good for Movie/Music??
Um, Dave uses a professional $15,000 RED Digital Cinema camera rig and then doesn't use a better mic? What's up with that?
Please gawd, just stop with the RGB lighting already
They look just like wall-e 's eyes
Wall-E is making a comeback...
lol
Not if you've watched Wall-E over 50 times
What's that
At this point, Blizzard needs to just partner with Dave already
So I guess this is what happened to the Pixar lamp
Trying to hear how good those speakers sound on my bad speakers. Doesn't work so well.
Logitech Z623 has also a subwoofer, two elements per speaker and better positioning for headphone input. And about the same price.
FUCK this Razer crap
yea but those look like shit
Keep in mind, "sounding good" is very subjective. For gaming they're pretty amazing, for casual audio listening they're ok, but they have a huge mid presence and very little high end. razer is trying to be known for everything nowadays. I'm proud of the big push they're making.
nisis1 everything for pc gaming yes
Why you are so Honest ? Awesome Review :)
I like when Dave zooms in and touches things. It's the reason I watch his videos specifically.
The design would be extra neat with height adjustment
I like the design. It fits well with a minimalist desk setup.
$99 is cheap i thought it was gonna be 100$ or more i was scared !
How is $99 dollars cheap but $100 is not?
Basically the same price.

Your intros are just so amazing.
I'm pretty sure I can't tell the sound quality from the mono speaker from my phone lol
I'm still using amazing Monsoon mh350 speakers from the 90s lol. They sound awesome and they fill the whole house

Well Razer bought THX in 2016
I remember you said your friend does his own mixes for your background music.
This one is my favorite song you've used. So smooth.
I LIKED! Damnn the design 😍
I've been looking for a good set of speakers. Perfect timing Dave!
Razor getting THX certification is like Samsung getting AKG certification 😂 kinda pointless considering they own the companies giving them the accolade.
I’m very sure that is the only reason they bought them
Juan Carballo Asus get harman, HP get JBL (maybe).
Juan Carballo but they did say that THX acts as a separate entity from razer.
Actually, that's incorrect. They still have to go through various tests to get the certification. If you think they just slap it on, then you're wrong.
@@Tomiply They do but it still means nothing because Razer lowered the standards
Thanks so much for the review! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy it, but you sold me. Thanks 💯
Logitech Z333 for at least half price but this is actually a fair deal especially that it offers good positional audio
I picked up a pair of JBL control 1 speakers for £60, powered by a £20 TA2020 digital amp. The JBLs are easy to drive and sound great
