@@GoldPlatingServices how much this cost.. I have a g23 slide I'd like plated
I was wondering to I'd like to maybe offer some services for stuff like this car stuff etc around where I live I'm wondering what happened to that big mobile brush plating set up you guys used to sell
Passion, knowledge, quality, attention to detail. All the sign I look for in a company.
He sounds like the original Peter Parker

thank you!

Fantastic video. I learned so much so quickly. What a teacher you are. Thanks for the lesson. Keep up the good work.

WOWWWW, I come across this random video about gold plating and low and behold you shouted out my small small town Port Saint Lucie, FL CRAZYYYY.
I always wondered who gold plated the cartels guns 🤔
Yk Mexico produces a lot of gold and silver. So most likely some jewelers in Mexico
Not us! ;) ;)
There are so many companies o people that do that service, customers are not gonna show up like, in from cartel and i want this gun to be plated 🤦🏻♂️
Price may seem expensive for the 4/5 module complete kit, but this wouldn't be for just doing 1-2 items and letting it get dusty. Ask around for how much shops charge to do this service. Then compare that with the price vs how many jobs you can complete with it to equal the price for getting started.
You put it very well. Getting a service done like this is typically around $300-$600. Our raw cost to plate this slide was roughly $30.00, so the kit pays itself off very quickly if the business is there. Thanks for your great comment!

I was just about to say what I see alot of other viewers are saying "You're a great teacher". Wish I had you as a chemistry or science teacher!
I have a old pipe wrench I would like to do this to, I was a fire sprinkler fitter for 35 years and I used the same wrench. What is the costs of this?
I'm sure UA-cam demonetized this video due to having a gun part in it. Great video though!
It's crazy that you can have violant videos with guns that are monetized, but nothing educational/informative.
youtube is whack.

Thank you very much!
For a moment at the beginning of the video he was going to say "this is your daily dose of internet"
Oh so this is where the Cartel Boss and Mobsters gets their beautiful 🤩 shiny Guns 💪 and Riffles thanks 🤩 for the video
Im getting my desert eagle gold plated with pearl handle grip purely for aesthetic reasons, also Im just really in love with my pistol.. And I can resell it for a lot more later.. But I probably won’t
Rooster Q wow 🤩 nice shiny pistols nice 👍
thats how chemical classes should be in school
Gunsmith Tip: Internals should avoid the gold. Otherwise it slows down the action, and can cause misfires, ftf, and stovetoping. I’ve been dipping quite a few lately for customers so before I strip a Glock slide I sandblast away the oem finish but make sure to leave the DLC/nitrate over the internals so it won’t plate there👌
All day , can only imagine it’s some rapper that said do it in real gold not titanium nitride 🤦🏽
@@controlledchaos8851 wow that comment was a year ago now. I convert 1-2 daily, and offer mirror polished TiN gold now along with 24k , but mostly used for internals/barrels still.
@@luckeypolishing ehhh new to me . I don’t look at release dates but I probably should . Btw I wasn’t saying anything about your work .
Hey boss, I do laser engraving and for a Glock for example. I use my laser to remove all exterior coating before polish. But don’t remove the inside. Is this what you’re referring to so the gold won’t stick ? I’m planning on buying this kit in the next couple days
How many of the same slides would you be able to do without changing any solutions? Thank you.
We need answers
you probably don't want to do more than one at a time, to attract the ions to the metal in a concentrated fashion.
@@orangesunshine4773 that isn't the question
You can do the calculation in a few different ways I'm not a chemist but the easiest I think is to calculate the molarity of a solution and then on a sensitive scale measure the weight difference before and after gold plating and do the calculation of how many moles of gold you used by plating using the weight difference and then recalculate the molarity.
Of course you would have to have some idea of how much material you are depositing based on your surface area, plating thickness and the molecular geometry vs time, molarity of solution, current and voltage or your deposition rate. That's gonna be a bit more complicated if you want it down to the micron/nanometers of material like this guy. Again not a chemist but just how I believe the basic math behind this is going to work. It requires some level of research even if you aren't going through the trouble of solving all these equations yourself and just doing this by trial and error and experience
You can plate 320 square inches of area to 10 microinches thickness, with 1 gram of gold. 1 Gallon contains 8g of fine-gold. We sell gold replenisher, which comes with 1g per fluid ounce of solution. This replenisher is poured directly into the bath to maintain the gold content and keep the deposition rate up. At high gold content, the bath will deposit 10 microinches in ~2 minutes in the gold bath.
Reminds Me of the James Bond movie Gold Finger! Nice work!
Bro best golden slide I've ever seen other slides or plated parts look like mukas
Thank you so much! We take great pride in our products and abilities, it is nice to be recognized.
It was a pleasure seeing your passion for the craft and serious attention to detail 👍
can you put a link for you're setup ?
1911’s honestly make the best gold & nickel plated handguns since they are all metal so it makes the perfect gun to customized. In the end Glocks are always gonna have the polymer plastic bottom yet over the top customized plated slide, lol

I'm glad he knows the proper term of the slide. Kudos...
Very informative and good teaching. I am currently thinking about goldplating iPhones. I have a lot of learning to do. I enjoy your videos thank you for teaching and knowledge.
...the man with the golden gun...will get it done.
Okay so I've been using all your solutions for some years. It's common practice for me to poor all the solutions back into a air tight bottle each night because I figured some chemicals could evaporate such as chlorine which I believe you use in woods nickel strike and want my solutions to last as long as possible but in a larger setup like this, how do you keep your system air tight (or do you) if you are going to keep a heavy amount of solution layed out like that or do you also seal the top to every container each night?
Why not titanium nitride instead of real gold?
Thank you for telling me all about the details sir. I appreciate you!!
I GET MY STUFF FROM YOU GUYS
how much would something like that cost?
How much does something like this cost??
Does the paper towel not scratch the gold?
I just know I would never use paper towel on anything BC it scratches it unless it's glass and even then you use a soft cloth depending...
Anyways super cool video! Thanks 👍
Very very exquisite job you did, I like the time that you take and care about the finishing product to make a good quality plating
observation: I own a sign shop . . .I'm also an electrician. I make neon. That aside I hope your "pots" are on different dedicated circuits. It doesn't look like it. Upgrade your power strips as well.

Great point
16:57 that gold is beautiful on that slide 👌
For gold plating guns which kit is better the ( Woods nickel strike activation) or the (Trival Gold strike activation) ?
The Gold Strike is always better as you can see the strike and know at that point if you have done the electrocleaning and striking properly. Woods works fine but you cannot see it and will not know if you are going to get proper adhesion until after the plating is done and its flaking off.
HELLO MY DEAR. I JUST WANTED TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR VIDEO IT WAS THE BEST COVERAGE AND VERY PROFESSIONAL EXELENT JOB YOUNG LADY .

Are there fumes that result from this process/what kind of protective gear do you wear besides the latex gloves? Wondering if i need a respirator/proper exhausting system and safety googles just in case of splashes etc
All I kept thinking was "wonder what would happen if I dipped my finger in each of those containers."

People who provide this service typically charge about $300-$600 depending on the situation.
@@GoldPlatingServices That’s really not that expensive for what you’re getting. Looks amazing the end result. Thankyou 👍🇦🇺
@@GoldPlatingServices people want $2000 for this job.
Can you just bright nickel plate a slide and leave it like that? I assume that's prolly common for those that want nickel or silver if you will over gold
In apocalypse scenario people with golden guns will be primal targets. Because everyone want a golden gun.
I dont want one lol
Yes i also did gold plating on this.
Thank god I took HL chemistry In high school it’s so cool to se electrolysis being done to guns
Anderson Carvalho - Brasil - Very good, excellent work.
One might conclude the gold coating would wear off after awhile from the heat of the bullets being shot.
Wow 😲 that's unbelievable absolutely brilliant the Man with the golden gun 007
Hope your ready for mass production. Alot of people are going to want to do this.
Plating for extended periods of time even at lower than normal voltage in my experience typically creates burn marks yet I didn't see you have that problem gold plating for 15 minutes. When I do more items like jewelry and a typical ring for instance at 4v for more than 5-10 minutes (I like to apply thick coats as well being that they are items worn) blacken especially where my copper wire which is what I use touches the item to be plated. The only solution I've found is constantly moving it around and rotating the ring around where the copper (-) line touches the item. Is this because I don't use bubble agitation or am I missing something I should be aware of here? When it happens I typically have to use some #0000 steel wool to remove it and start over on those areas. Always love learning something new and look forward to a reply. I'll definitely be checking out your new PRO kit here.
Can you recoat the gold plate? Over and over to build those mills?
@@olivernavarro6237 Yes, the industry standard typically plates most jewelry at around .5 microns thick while I plate my jewelry at an industrial level of 4 microns or 8x times the normal thickness.
Love it! Excellent work that's a true beauty, I'm gonna have to buy this kit now👍👍👍

I just purchased this system. Am I able to gold plate a blued slide from the inside but polished on the outside or does it all need to have blueing removed
Thanks for your order! All bluing should be removed prior to plating.
Do you guys offer a class on how to use this kit?
There’s videos on google

How significant is the added thickness to the tolerances of the fit, when you try to reinstall this slide?
~2 microns of thickness is added. It's not enough to affect the tolerances of the fit when you reinstall the pieces. Good question!
@@GoldPlatingServices good answer as well, thank you
@@GoldPlatingServices does this mean the slide is plated all over, inside and out?
What the hell I just bought something from them Iive in the same county great ppl. I just saw the thumbnail and clicked.
That was a great vid! New subscriber😁
Thank you! Let us know if we can ever help you with getting going.
Won’t it chip if it’s too thick?
What's the easiest way to get into doing this yourself. Tracking the process but you obviously have a built up process as far as equipment etc.
The best way to get into plating is by getting a smaller machine that will benefit you in the long run and you can make your money back with. It is like investing money so you can get more money out of what you put into it. Once you have plated with the smaller machines maybe you would want to move on to the bigger machines and doing more expensive plating.
Admire you work ..a big fan!
How come the Anodes not get plated?
What they are made from?
you are gonna go far in this world, I wish I could invest in you!
Wow. Turned out beautiful.
Good stuff bro!
Great video, very informative. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Demo Ranch needs your services.
Isn’t titanium nitride a better alternative to gold plating because of the durability?
What do I know? Nothing...but if you pull the object out of the nickel bath doesn’t nickel oxide form immediately preventing subsequent nickel from adhering?
Johnny do u remove the sleeve inside the firing pin channel or did u block it up. Great video...
Do you need ventilation system for your solutions because I know many solutions are highly toxic fumes
Isn't it better to do Titanium nitride in gold color. As 24k gold is extremely soft and wears off guns quickly?
How do you prevent the soul ions from entering the holes and channels on the underside of the slide? Is the coating not enough to mess you p the tolerances?
I’d love to do my Kimber Raptor in gold
I wasn't really good in science in school but I know math
How many grams or ounces are needed to plate a slide? Curious because I need to know how much gold I need to buy. Thanks
Good run down I’m curious how much a kit would cost that u can do rims and bumpers and stuff, I’m bout to look at your website now
Hopefully you find the Chrome kit and the Goldstar kit. They both will help you plate stuff on cars.
What anodes do you use for each plating procedure do you use the corrosponding metals or some type of universal ones?
Looks beautiful but I can’t imagine this would hold up very well over time if you actually shot the thing regularly
They actually hold up surprisingly well! We plate them very thick and even people who use them daily do not have it wear off for many years. If it's used occasionally, it would stay gold plated a lifetime.
@@GoldPlatingServices cool. I’ve seen other “gold” guns but this wasn’t the method used. They are typically show pieces with little actual use but some older examples have very heavy wear where the gold has all but been stripped.
You sound like a really cool guy. You are an expert in your craft and you are very informative and helpful. Thanks for your video my friend.
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment, I appreciate it. Thanks for watching!

Damn! That's nice as hell!
Thank you!
I like the woods strike. On a mechanical part like this your top finish is absolutely doomed if you put a softer aggregate (gold) plate under a harder material like bright nickel. It adhere good, but it'll scratch through the nickel better. This is similar to the mistake on colts original M16 hard chrome bolts. They struck it with copper under it and it flaked off and clogged up the gas system.
So do the solutions work multiple times or is it 1 and done then you have to remove and refill it? Can I just leave it there forever and use it when I want to or does it need to be air tight? Can I use a brush plating wand, have it plugged in and just dip it in those solutions because I'm cheap as shit and wouldn't want to pour out more for the brush. Of course making sure that the brushes don't cross contaminate. Also after and in-between solutions are you just dipping it in water? One looks like its soap water ?
If only I could learn to do this I would make a business buying guns, plating them then sell for more $$$ lol
And charge to customize peoples guns
You can learn to do it. That is the purpose of our videos and our customer service. We design these kits exactly for that. Robert (from the video) even will get on video training calls once you're set up but most people have no issues getting started right away just by following our instructions.
does this process cause embrittlement or stress in steel that would require heat treating? or just plate and its good to go? is there any need/way to seal the gold plating to further protect it?
It's good to go after plating! No hydrogen embrittlement treatment is necessary with this particular process.
This is real 24k gold its not faded after some year ?
Can this process be done if gun parts start out as blued and we want a bright nickel or gold plated end result ?
Yes, all bluing has to be removed via sandblasting and/or polishing. You want the piece to be as nice looking as possible before applying this finishing plate.
