I must say that I 'am amazed and somewhat saddened at the same time, I just watched videos on cerakote, acid etching, and now this, I am also thinking of woodworkers, leather workers and anyone that is a craftsman. In this world of everything is fast and easy, Disposable, I' am hoping their will be a new generation that will learn from all these wonderful craftsman, I hope skill and quality such as this does not become extinct. what was once pretty normal has now become a luxury in all trades. When was the last time you bought something with character and quality that made you feel good just looking at it, owning it and knowing you'll pass this down in your family from generation to generation? for me its been too damn long..... I hope all these crafts have someone to pass on down too. God Bless
Thank you, I started engraving leather, and being a United States Marine, well new tools and a whole new world of engraving. FEGA I will be seeing you in the future. Semper Fi
Thanks for the video... I am a jeweller started engraving this year i am also a gun enthusiasts and would love to engrave on guns one day.... Many engravers do not want to post free tutorials... There is no training in South Africa so thank you very much for the videos you post!
elorangeman I may end up doing something like that. It would still need some editing. Even at 2x speed it can be like watching grass grow. But you are not the first to ask.
Perfection..Many times I used to watch my close friend Bill Sinclair engrave firearms for me. Bill was one of the top 6 engravers in the world.. I miss him and his work very much. Thanks for bringing that memory back reflected in your skill and perfection 👍👍
This is just... Wow. I first thought I was gonna be able to do this, but now I know I am nooo where near capable. Thank you for humbling me early! And I have to say you guys are making a beautiful thing! Thank you God and the Founding Fathers for the second amendment we have today so we can see something like this take place! I'll stick to my plating since I'm no where as capable with this! You sir and the other engravers are gods! Please to anyone who reads this. Do NOT let this DIE out! These people have a passion beyond what most of us can only dream of having! 1000% skills!
I just love the creative process. From looking like a disaster to the layman when it’s rough cut, to the masterpiece at the end. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Magnificent art! It's a pleasure to see how gunsmiths became artists. It's no longer weapons it's a pièce of art. Patience, skills and a great artistic sense make a lot of differences between a gun and a masterpiece
Exactly what I was going to say, so I'll just thumbs up this comment and add; the 1911 is my favorite gun so I'm extra excited to see the finished product.
What superb work and artistic talent! Now I know why the price is high. Thanks for giving me a view into this wonderful craft. Most satisfying to watch you work. I also learned that gold comes in coils not just thin sheets. This will help with any jewelry repairs I have to do. Many thanks!
WOW SIR!!!...I knew engraving was an art form but never looked much into the skill. Master Engraver is a well deserved title for the art you turn out. Truly amazing...thank you for the vid
I used to have a engraved llama 380 nickel plated pearl grips looked like a mini 1911 I was going to give to my dad but it got stolen I been wanting to get a engraved gun for him but a nice one is expensive and I know I realize it’s a real work of art a thing of beauty much respect for the artist that takes pride in what he does you can tell by the quality of the workmanship 👍🏼I’m probably just have to get 2 with a simple but nice engraved touch 1 for my dad and myself
That is very nice work. I dabbled into a bit of engraving about thirty years ago. It gave me a greater appreciation of the work done by people such as yourself.
Mad skill. I watched the entire 21-minute video, which is a record for me. Keep up the good work. Glad that Colt gave you the opportunity to lay some skill and turn a run-of-the-mill 1911 into a true masterpiece.
I have both the attention span, and patience of a drunk nat, that being said.... I envy your talent. Always wanted to learn and do this, one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
That is amazing. My mom was an engraver and worked on some sections of the $1 bill plates and hidden security features in the artwork. The spider is her.
Layne you are my favorite master engraver!! You are my hero role model whatever you want to call it.i look up to you. Sam is good but I just took a liking to you and your work .you are awesome.
An entire working day for one square inch of engraving that already had hours put in from the outliner. Pretty cool to see this level of mastery of a trade.
Last time I dropped into the bowl I swear I was wobbly kneed. Every time I set my board over the edge these days the bowl looks ten feet deeper than last time. I gotta get out more!
How in the hell can anyone have that much patience to do that great and awesome work,, it's amazing to watch,, you sir are a fine craftsman, and an excellent engraver,, your work is truly outstanding..this was a great video to watch, thank you for posting it...
I am so glad the algorithm put this "peace" of art on my list, and the mispelling pun was intentional because this brought peace to my mind. You are an incredible artist and I salute you.
Sir, your "Master" status truly shows. I'm glad that you started a channel to showcase the work and care that goes into pieces like this. Here from Alec Steele.
Fantastic video / training ....thank you so much for taking the many hours necessary to share this with us....can't wait til the next installment. Please continue these videos. Thank you again
I loved the way you presented your work in the video and your explaining with the music just perfect for me .... thanks coz you did what we asked in the last video
How is that even possible!? Sir, that absolutely blew my mind and had me smiling the entire time! Amazing talent and love for the art you have! I too work with guns and weapons but I do what anyone can do, i do custom Cerakote and gunsmith jobs and i love what i do... I’m glad you are here Sor, please pass your knowledge to a child one day so it may live on
the "stippling" I always wondered how they got that lower relief looked like it was pinged to me somehow .now I know how what and when. think this might be worth giving a go on some copper if I can scrape up the cash thank you for being the guy to show me. grate man. books never serve me but if I can sit down with somebody and have them show me I catch on pretty fast as long as they don't leave to much out. I'm sure there's a paper trail to the moon and back on the subject but I learn with my hands. and by example thanks again.
Your shading is beautiful Lane, can't put my finger on it but it's got a different look than most. I'd love to see a video that goes more into shading leafs! It's by far my biggest weakness and is so important visually. Anyone else with me and want a more in depth shading tutorial? Give this a thumbs up! And thanks for sharing your knowledge Lane. You've helped me out a lot over the past couple months
@@MasterEngraverTV Thanks Lane, I did watch that one and it was very helpful. The Ron Smith book helped a ton too. The part I'm struggling with is certain leafs and angles, sometimes I'm not sure where to end the shade lines. How far down the stem of a leaf? I'm slowly figuring it out studying different engravings and though. Thanks for the reply Lane! Love every video you've made so far.
I always recommend Lee Griffith’s book- Design Fundamentals for Artists and Engravers. I’ll be doing some more videos on some basics as well. After the Engravers Guild Show in Vegas Jan 24-27 I’ll have more time on my hands.
Absolutely beautiful. I am (among other things), an artist that renders fine line India ink crosshatch method drawings. I sometimes combine my ink work with opaque wash. I know how time consuming and exacting you have to be, and there is no room for mistakes because you can't fix it. Masterful work, thank you for sharing sir.
I hope this art form goes on for another thousand years.
with help frommpeolpe like you and me it will
I do to but knowing this generation, we might not even have guns within 100 years😢
@@johnbrown2163 what do you mean John?
@JohnBrown has left the building. Trolls are never welcome. Though I do get a chuckle out of their posts. Let the UA-cam authorities deal with him.
As impressive as that is sadly technology has already started edging this out.
You know that feeling when you cannot comprehend skill of another human? Like, is this man even the same species as me?
Stellar work sir.
You're not even joking. I cant even begin to express how I feel about this. Like it legitimately brought a tear to my eye.
Doesn’t seem like magic to me but I am inspired to learn
Yaaa i just feel like i could never
Now you should go check out Il Disinganno, also known as The Release from Deception, by Francesco Queirolo
I have never actually seen this done and I have to admit that this an art to the truest form. I am pleased to have been able to see this.

I wonder why ya don't see much DIY "easy way to..." engraving video.... excellent work brother!
Thank you, I started engraving leather, and being a United States Marine, well new tools and a whole new world of engraving.

Honestly, I would love a full 8 hour video at regular speed.

Simply one word for such complex artwork, amazing. This art will never be duplicated with a machine.
I just made my first engraver from a old singer sewing machine. Treadle powered.i love it. Thank you for all you do and sharing the master knowledge.
Perfection..Many times I used to watch my close friend Bill Sinclair engrave firearms for me. Bill was one of the top 6 engravers in the world..

I just love the creative process. From looking like a disaster to the layman when it’s rough cut, to the masterpiece at the end. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Truly amazing. Guy asked an engraver how much is your work worth "great answer" priceless!
Magnificent art! It's a pleasure to see how gunsmiths became artists. It's no longer weapons it's a pièce of art. Patience, skills and a great artistic sense make a lot of differences between a gun and a masterpiece
Not only fantastic engravings but also almost too great a production value for such a new channel as this.
Thanks for all this. Very nice!

I love custom hand work. Nothing beats true hand work. Laser is nice and cheaper and perfect. But imperfections are what show it was hand made!!! 🥰
I would love to start learning this. Truly gives something a whole new look and I love all the time spent with it
Now thats what i call craftsmanship
WOW SIR!!!...I knew engraving was an art form but never looked much into the skill. Master Engraver is a well deserved title for the art you turn out. Truly amazing...thank you for the vid
This is very much like tooling which I dabbled into for a bit. Learning about different metals and what metals can penetrate others.
Absolutely beautiful I know I could've watched that for at least another 20 minutes!
What an amazing skill, I was captivated till the end. Thank for your craftsmanship.
Amazing, generous, thoughtful, patient MASTERY in action. THANK YOU for the beautiful inspiration!
This about brought a tear to my eye. Such beautiful artistry.

I still laser engrave, these guys are insanely talented to hand engrave like they do. So jealous of their skills!
That is very nice work. I dabbled into a bit of engraving about thirty years ago. It gave me a greater appreciation of the work done by people such as yourself.
What an amazing video; I have tried engraving, it is sooo tricky!
Wow, I'm quite impressed. I have been wasting my artistic abilities. These look wonderful.
Even when it’s not my thing I really appreciated the craftsmanship of this. Well done!
All the work everyone has done is astounding
Incredible. Such patience and vision. One of my brothers' is a silversmith amongst other carving mediums. Poetry in motion. Many thanks

Thank you so much for sharing. That's one of the coolest things I've seen done in a long time
Just wow.I have been stuck on what say for a good ten minutes now.But it all boils down to show me more.
Talk about patience...this is amazing.
