This is first time ever I am watching your video, you explain very well with details, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, I am your new subscriber 😊. And I hope and pray with your helpful videos and support I will pass this last exam and will have my diploma.
Professor Sanchez, Thank you for your information about the above topic. I would like to request you to explain the difference of the thesis and topic statements / sentences with the essay topic / title.
Informative and great video, but shouldn’t we give concise reason for our claim after the thesis statement??? For example Cat are superior to dogs. It is not make noise like dog ect????
I do have some videos on essay writing, but they are geared specifically to the classes I teach. I have not yet created a general channel. Feel free to browse what I have here. And I'm glad you found something that was useful!
Ma'am, If I've 7 reasons/factors/points that are to be discussed in an essay of 2500 words, should I name all these in my Thesis statement? Will it not end lengthy? Or how. For example, topic is "Islamophobia:causes and consequences". Now I've 7/7 resaons+conseq....how can be its TS..? What can be your TS for the topic? Thanks
Sohail, thanks for your question. It may depend on the type of essay you are writing and your instructor, but in upper level classes, it is my thought that the thesis can be concise and just state the main point. Then the body can develop that idea. I agree that it will be too lengthy to list everything you are talking about in a longer paper. It makes sense that we learn to write shorter papers this way to help create focus, but as we grow as writers, the thesis can just state the overall point. I would check with your instructor, though, just in case, since I won't be grading your work!
