Thanks so much for such an incredible response! I've had a lot of people comment asking: "How does shaving your head help charity at all?" The answer is this: I said if we reached £5000, I'd shave my head. This encourages people to donate money. That money goes to charity. It simply brings awareness to the cause and helps persuade people to help out!
A few months back I shaved my head for Saint Baldricks! Great organization.. But Emma, Thankyou for doing this. Just wait! A shaved head is the best feeling in the world and I love telling people why I did it. You'll look great
You're amazing Emma! Having this amount of courage to shave your hair off for charity is something to be very proud of. You are such a giving and lovely person ah I love you even more every day
Do you know what the most stupid thing is about all this shaving your head stuff for charities etc? The school I go to have strict rules about uniform and hairstyles,as most do I assume. And they put you in Isolation if you break either of those rules.. Meaning that if someone shaved their head for charity and went to school, they'd get put straight in Isolation regardless of why it's like that and they'll stay there each day until it grows back into a suitable condition for school dress code. This is complete bollocks because they obviously don't care about charity and things like that, people at 14/15 are actually willing to do things like this, they get support from everyone and then the school just pretty much shuts them down. People at my school got pissed when they realised this and more of them decided to shave their hair (Mostly girls I think) and went into the school not giving a single fuck about Isolation or what the school thought. Good on them. It's total fucking bullshit,it's like schools are trying to teach you not to help people who are struggling, they do events to donate to the smaller, crapper charities that don't actually mean very much yet anything that break the school rules, NOPE. *Sigh*
+VietnamVet01 The school I went to had retarded rules since they were strict on certain things but they were THAT retarded! That's completely insane! We had rules on hair as well but I'm sure if someone shaved their head (provided there was a rule on shaving your head which I can't remember tbh) and explained it was for charity they would have understood. This is beyond fucking stupid and your dumbass school clearly don't have their morals in order. Kudos to all the students who went ahead and did it anyway and to the other people like you who actually have their heads screwed on straight.
My friend goes to a school and she wasn't allowed to shave it but she wrote and wrote to the head teacher until he allowed her and she raised loads of money.
You go girl, I have been contemplating do the same thing for a year now! My school actually does this yearly and about 50 girls decide to do this every year and there is so much support. Last year we won most money raised in Australia. Approx $60,000! Now I think you've given me the push and I'm gonna do it! It's such a great cause xx
***** She is, but they also subscribe for her content. AKA, me, who has just donated £10. St. Ormands Street is probably the best hospital I have ever seen.
well... her hair though... i woulda been sad to see it go too. i first found Emma after this, during the Wigs phase, and was shocked to find out that she had done this.
Awww yes! This is so awesome! I shaved my head for childhood cancer research through St. Baldrick's about two months ago at an event at my school and the growing out process has been an adventure. You are very brave and you are going to look lovely! It's really inspiring to see someone with your size of audience to spread awareness and awesomeness this way! YOU GO EMMA! (Also, after the shave, be prepared for everyone and their mothers to rub your head! Everyone did that to me!)
This video's been up about an hour and you've already raised £3k. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this gets around £100k, especially as you're clearly so passionate about your charities. I'm so proud of you, Emma. This is something I wouldn't do in a million years, and I recall you saying the same thing to Carrie when she said she'd be cutting her hair short. Putting the needs of others ahead of your physical appearance seems simple enough, but it takes so much guts. So much respect for you
My best friend is currently going through terminal cancer, and she's probably going to die this summer, which obviously makes me very upset. I'm so thankful for people like you who are raising money for charities and hospitals for people that are suffering like her. I am most definitely donating because knowing that i am going to help people like her is perk enough. Thank you for doing this.
Emma this is amazing like seriously, you are shaving your head for good charities and the fact you seem to love your so much and i know if i had the power to do something in the community like this i wouldnt have the balls to shave my head. I love this idea of going above and beyond with this. you have already raised so much money ( i think... i dont understand the british currency) i am so proud of you. you are my role model :D
I always find these sorts of things hard to watch and respond to because I don't have the choice to grow or lose my hair. But it's a brave thing to do and for a good cause (causes!) so I hope it goes well. No more extensions and dye worries! :D. Having been bald multiple times myself, I can share some tips with you! :).
On June 4rth I shaved all my hair off (12.5 inches) of curly brown locks, and I gave it to a foundation that makes wigs for children whose parents can't afford wigs. Emma, trust me, doing this is the most liberating feeling, and at first I couldn't stop smiling and touching my head. The feeling that what you are doing is not about you but goes way beyond that is exhilerating. I had friends who tried to convince me not to do it, but I just ignored them and did it anyways because it's the cause that counts. I also raised 237 canadian dollars to give to the foundation (Locks of Love it's called) I think what you're doing is a great thing and it's truly inspiring :)
I forgot to mention that my initial motive was that my best friend's mom recently passed away from breast cancer, and for the year and half that she suffered, she wore a raspy wig whenever she went out. So I did it primarly out of support :)
My dad died from skin cancer when I was eleven. I was about nine when he was diagnosed and all we could do was watch. I love that you are doing this, Emma you are absolutely inspirational and an outstanding role model to society.
I like how in the description you said you won't colour your hair ever again after..... but you're hair is pink, you can't stop yourself from expressing yourself!! I love you Emma
Good on you Emma. The fact that your hair is a big part of you proves that it means something to you to do this. Wish you the best I'll be 100% donating.
Emma I was a GOSH kid and so was my cousin and knowing that you did this has made me so happy because the time that we spent there was incredible, they were so caring and they just there are amazing people that work at GOSH and they saved our lives so thank you Emma, for supporting GOSH, I know it was a really long time ago now but I just wanted to say thank you x
considering she clearly loves her hair a lot due to the fact that she dyes it a lot, it is very valuable to her and therefore is very scary for her. Emma is also shaving it for charity. Whilst you might not find it very scary most of her subscribers are very proud of her for doing such a brave thing regardless of whether you think it's a big deal of it or not.
I cried at the teenage cancer part because I might have cancer and I'm a teenager and the only people helping and supporting me are my very few friends I have my own parents are really supporting me they just think I'm insane even when doctors are saying it's possible
I shaved my head for cancer three years ago and raised 1010 dollars in 3 days. and this makes me very happy to see other people form different places shaving and donating money
Fully supporting you Emma!!!! Shaving your head, or just getting a pretty dramatic change hair-wise, is a huge thing! I grew my hair out my whole life until I was 16, then I decided to get it cut reeeeally short to a pixie cut; I got 13 inches of hair to give to charity! And then not that long ago I buzzed my hair till I was almost bald. VERY scary thing to do, but you're doing this for charity which I think is AWESOME, and hair grows back!! :D So proud of you!!
I'm so totally on board with this. I should hopefully have a couple dollars to donate to this before the deadline, so even if I can't get any of the perks, I can still help out with the charity aspect! Really digging this idea, Emma. :D
I'm so happy that you want to do this Emma because in February I shaved all of my hair off for cancer research and locks of love and it makes me happy to know that someone else who loves their hair just as much as I did is going to do the same thing and good luck to your hair shave!! :') xx
This was one of the greatest things I have ever seen live, pinkies were raised throughout and all of the raw emotion displayed by both yourself and everyone watching at SitC was so moving and I for one am honoured to have watched it
you're so brave Emma. I shaved my head for cancer with my whole family last sunday and i know how hard it is because i loved my hair and i done it in front of 200 people then put it on facebook we raised £1000 between 4 of us. proud of you Emma
I can't believe you've already reached your goal in three days - that's awesome! I have never felt more compelled to donate to a UA-camr raising money for charity, as this is something that I've wanted to do myself for years. I am so proud of Emma and what she is doing.
In the past month I've lost a friend to cancer and in all honesty, if I wasn't broke and in a tough family situation I would donate in a heart beat. I love that you're doing this, Emma
...and it's people like Megan Olivier, with her comment I'm unable to reply to below, that make me sick. I'm sorry, Megan, but you seriously need to rethink your priorities if you think Emma made the wrong or unintelligent choice by raising money for charities connected to cancer, especially those specific to helping children. How DARE you. I...can't believe a person could honestly believe that. Not meaning to draw attention away from Emma's selfless efforts to help children with cancer, but you, Megan, are...seriously messed up. But, I'm not going to linger on that. I'm just going to focus on how great this is...and find a way to donate to it. :)
i live in basildon and some of my family members spent their last days in st lukes, and it is honestly one of the best charities you could give too. they are all so kind and caring there, and my family members have all said that they couldnt have spent their last days better.
Thank you for doing this. My dad has cancer, and, although I doubt any of the money went to my family, it still gives me reassurance people still actually care c:
My mom had cancer and I had to go through so much crying and I don't ever want to go through That again and I would donate all my money my parents would donate a lot of money but we are so low on money that my 14 year old brother had to get a job but if I had to go through that experience ever again I would go back to the beginning and I just can't I felt as if she was gone for good I didn't have any one else who has been in a situation like that and I would be crushed if it didn't end well.
I shaved my head for cancer just over 1 year ago and there will never be a feeling like it. You will be so so happy knowing that you can do something for charity! It is absolutely amazing! Good Luck! XX
This touched me it is solely the sweetest thing ever. I lost my aunt last November to pancreatic cancer she passed 76 days after diagnosis at the age of 48 years. We miss her but this put a little hope for the human race back in me. I would shake your hand and hug you if i wasn't stuck in the states. Thank you!
Wow Emma you continue to amaze me, not only are you incredibly talented, you're also a very thoughtful, kind-hearted person. Congratulations on achieving your goal.
I'm new to emma's channel, and i noticed that in her old videos she had a gap in her teeth, and now she doesn't. does anyone know how she closed it? just curious (: also, i admire you so much omfg i would never be able to do this. so proud
Really cool, Emma. I've got a buzz cut exactly a year ago (kind of a spontaneous sweet sixteen birthday present to myself) and my hair is now already reaching my shoulders again. It's honestly the best haircut you can have during summer and it taught me a lot of patients. One of the best things I've ever done and it delights me that you are trying it out, too. Good luck and stay happy! x
Just watched the video of the shave at SITC and my god. You are one amazing person and I really hope you are truly happy again. So proud that you raised so much too! Love you! Xxx
i know its not a lot, but there are still 146 people who have disliked this!? HOW CAN ANYONE DISLIKE THIS??? its kind of mind blowing how anyone can dislike people giving money to possibly dying children... really nice video emma i can assure you i am on the LIKE side :)
It's not really about the giving money part, although I'm sure for some it is. But the rest get some kind of sad kick or giggle out of disliking popular/worthy vids, whatever it may be about. They think it makes them cool or something, when we all know it doesn't. Rest assured they'll be giggling to themselves, alone, for the rest of their sad miserable lives.
this is so cool emma! congratulations on all you've raised so far, that's amazing. great ormond street hospital took very good care of me when i was younger, so it's lovely to see that as one of the charities. i'll definitely be donating. x
I've seen a lot of awful comments below and I just want to say thank you to Emma!! This is such an amazing thing she's done and I can't understand why anyone could ever hate on her for this. Emma, what you're doing takes a lot of courage and I just want you to know how amazing this truly is. And how amazing you truly are.
I admire you so much for using you're power to do good in the world. There are tons of well known people who could use their fan base to make a huge difference but they don't. This is what sets people like you apart.
Just arrived home. It's the freaking middle of the night, and i've just watched this video. Going to the donate page i see this: "£12,563GBP RAISED OF £10,000 GOAL" What the fuck people.. What the actual fuck.. Not only have you bastards already bought all of the perks i had a chance of paying for (besides the two cheapest), but that number in such a short time... I'm SO(!!!) proud of being a part of the Emma Baldery party. God damn.. You guys blow me away. ..and Emma: Damn brave thing to do. Love you for doing it. Charity rocks. Way to use your well known face for good. Way to go:)
Emma, you have grown so much throughout this channel and you have grown into such a positive inspirational woman you're so beautiful as a person, I am so proud you chose turn a camera on and make a video and keep to it, you have helped me grow as a person and realise what really is in life, thank you.
I've only just come across your videos, but thank you so much for supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust! My brother had Hodgkins Lymphoma during his A Levels, and they were so amazingly helpful and kind. So yeah, thanks for donating to them, they do a fantastic job.
I had cancer when u was 6 I won my fight when I was 12 I have just turned 13 and I am 6 months cleare they said it was turmanl but I showed them I love u so much and if I saw u how would I aproche u and what should I say
She did it! So proud of you Emma, much braver than I! So touching seeing you and your dad hug like that after it was done, made me want to cry. Stay strong! Xx
You're incredible Emma! I've always wanted to do this but never had the courage.Don't let the people push you down because of your hair remember its your choise, not theirs! Even without hair, you will still be extremely pretty! You're awesome and will always be my role model x
Thanks so much for such an incredible response! I've had a lot of people comment asking: "How does shaving your head help charity at all?"
The answer is this: I said if we reached £5000, I'd shave my head. This encourages people to donate money. That money goes to charity. It simply brings awareness to the cause and helps persuade people to help out!
ONE YEAR
Plus you can donate the left over bits of hair for wigs and whatever for the people with cancer or diseases that cause their hair to call out.
THIS IS HAIRESY!
(not really it's for a fantastic cause but I needed to make the pun, so impressed you're doing this.)
Lol i know you
Clever pun

Shit maaaan
Such a good cause. Super proud of you, Miss Blackery
*Sigh*
Yeah, someone in my year did it and he got excluded for a week ;-;
VietnamVet01 wait what If someone got something that caused there hair to fall out wouldn’t grow back?
You go girl, I have been contemplating do the same thing for a year now! My school actually does this yearly and about 50 girls decide to do this every year and there is so much support. Last year we won most money raised in Australia. Approx $60,000! Now I think you've given me the push and I'm gonna do it! It's such a great cause xx
Good on you! :)
i'm 16 and deseased of leukemia and so i have got a bald too... i was so happy when my hair came back (

good luck, i hope everything goes well!
Good luck! Stay strong. :)
I can't begin to comprehend why someone would hit 'dislike'. This is an amazing thing to do Emma, will be sure to donate. :)
There are haters who don't watch the video and just hit dislike. It's so sad what they are doing with their life.
those 6 people suck ass
***** She is, but they also subscribe for her content. AKA, me, who has just donated £10. St. Ormands Street is probably the best hospital I have ever seen.
the NOnAUSTRALIAN gamer 32 now too wow :P
well... her hair though... i woulda been sad to see it go too. i first found Emma after this, during the Wigs phase, and was shocked to find out that she had done this.
I love you so much Emma :') Im so proud of you. Remember, hair grows back, lives don't

2 hours later, and it's already been raised! You'll look beautiful bald and just know, you're doing an amazing thing!
Hey I love your videos
This video's been up about an hour and you've already raised £3k. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this gets around £100k, especially as you're clearly so passionate about your charities.

I'm so sorry

You're such an inspiration to me, Emma. Today I'm 2 months clean from self harm because you have given me strength to carry on. 💗
Nice one Em! Will you be doing a video of your Dad's reaction to your hair?
Amazing to think Emma has already raised over £2,000 and this video has been up for less than an hour. Wow

A great cause Emma. Very moving.
anyone seen how much she has raised already!? holy sjjdjskjcks
imagine if more famous/known people did this..
I wish I could have found this channel sooner. I would have given money and this video gave me hope for humanity.
I can't believe you've already reached your goal in three days - that's awesome! I have never felt more compelled to donate to a UA-camr raising money for charity, as this is something that I've wanted to do myself for years. I am so proud of Emma and what she is doing.

Emma, your such a big inspiration. To sacrifice something you love.... You truly have a good heart. :')
This is awesome, and has won my subscription! :) It's people like you that make the world a better place, day by day! :D
...and it's people like Megan Olivier, with her comment I'm unable to reply to below, that make me sick.

Your a great person Emma and well done for this and i look forward to seeing how this all goes.
In one day you got 7.5k 0_0 I WILL MISS YOUR HAIR BUT YOU ARE DOING A AMAZING THING!!!!!!!
Almost 8.5 now! I can't believe it, another 1k in under half an hour!
Less than 100 away from 10000. Wow!

I shaved my head for cancer just over 1 year ago and there will never be a feeling like it. You will be so so happy knowing that you can do something for charity! It is absolutely amazing! Good Luck! XX

OMG YOU LOOK LIKE HAILEY WILLIAMS IN THIS VIDEO OMG SOOO PRETTY!
She always does xD
This touched me it is solely the sweetest thing ever. I lost my aunt last November to pancreatic cancer she passed 76 days after diagnosis at the age of 48 years. We miss her but this put a little hope for the human race back in me. I would shake your hand and hug you if i wasn't stuck in the states. Thank you!
Wow Emma you continue to amaze me, not only are you incredibly talented, you're also a very thoughtful, kind-hearted person. Congratulations on achieving your goal.
I'm new to emma's channel, and i noticed that in her old videos she had a gap in her teeth, and now she doesn't. does anyone know how she closed it? just curious (:
also, i admire you so much omfg i would never be able to do this. so proud
She got invisalign which are invisible braces. Hope that answers your question.
My bros died of cancer when they were 5 I miss them soo much I donated £700 for it :)
OMG.. :( u are so brave ..
Love you! Xxx
And £10,000 has been reached!
i know its not a lot, but there are still 146 people who have disliked this!? HOW CAN ANYONE DISLIKE THIS??? its kind of mind blowing how anyone can dislike people giving money to possibly dying children... really nice video emma i can assure you i am on the LIKE side :)
It's not really about the giving money part, although I'm sure for some it is. But the rest get some kind of sad kick or giggle out of disliking popular/worthy vids, whatever it may be about. They think it makes them cool or something, when we all know it doesn't. Rest assured they'll be giggling to themselves, alone, for the rest of their sad miserable lives.
U are amazing😭😍
congratulations! on 1 day! we all love you emma thank you!
this is so cool emma! congratulations on all you've raised so far, that's amazing. great ormond street hospital took very good care of me when i was younger, so it's lovely to see that as one of the charities. i'll definitely be donating. x
My Dad walked in while this was on, and him, being a cancer patient, said in good old Yorkshire ways, 'good lass' hahaha
DID HE LIVE ?!
R.I.P in peace Emma's hair
Goodnight sweet prince
You really have girl balls
I've seen a lot of awful comments below and I just want to say thank you to Emma!! This is such an amazing thing she's done and I can't understand why anyone could ever hate on her for this. Emma, what you're doing takes a lot of courage and I just want you to know how amazing this truly is. And how amazing you truly are.
I admire you so much for using you're power to do good in the world. There are tons of well known people who could use their fan base to make a huge difference but they don't. This is what sets people like you apart.
do they take fried or died hair?! because my mum told me otherwise I wanted to donate mine
they don't
Some do. If it's a cheapy charitiy they will probably take it.
Most places don't, but there's some places that do so.
Just arrived home. It's the freaking middle of the night, and i've just watched this video. Going to the donate page i see this:
"£12,563GBP
RAISED OF £10,000 GOAL"
What the fuck people..
Way to go:)
The campaign is currently raising an approximate; £2 per second.
Holy crap!
If we manage to raise £100,100, will you change your channel name to Emma baldery for a month?
youve got to be kidding.
You are easily going to exceed £25,000, Emma. We are a very giving bunch!
If everyone donated a pound then we would donate almost £700,000
And there's for sure some individuals who will be donating tons of money.
Taylor Ashcroft yeah :/ sadly, not everyone can donate
Ye I suppose. :(
