As a parent this was very helpful. My child is in 7th grade at Del Valle ISD and her teacher doesn't explain this and she is lost and failing tests. Her teacher blames the students why they fail tests. Since are Elearning now I can show her this because this is what she is doing in Math now. She had a test yesterday with this and missed the questions and failed the test.
I'm so sorry to hear she is struggling. Perhaps looking for a cyber charter school might be helpful for her. Agora Cyber Charter School is very good. At Agora they have certified teachers who walk students through the problems in live sessions and are amazing. Full disclosure, I'm one of the assistant principals at the Middle School in Agora so I am biased. :) Either way I'm so glad this video was able to help! Keep watching and have a wonderful day!
I wish you'd covered the case when we're multiplying or dividing by x, as in that case whether the sign switches depends on whether x is a positive or negative number.
Thank you so much Eric,. I was preparing for SAT and i saw myself doing dumb inequality mistakes and i just searched it and led it to you and it's crytal clear tho....🥰🥰
Teachers taking 2 hours to teach a simple lesson on this (this man taking a solid 30 seconds explaining this) love this guy 10/10 would watch his content
Wish my teacher had!!! But he didn't and I had to figure it out myself when I was stuck with a question.. I feel ashamed that I got to know this only in grade 10 ie. 15years old.. But Thank God I found this 🥲😌 Edit: I didn't know that we even ad to change inequality symbols when we divide..
bro Im watching this 4 years after this video was published thank you so much eric you deserve a doctor degree from this completely clear explanation that made 100% of these inequalities easyyyyyyy
Sir is it true that this rule will be applied only if we are performing first step of solving an inequality by multiplying or dividing with negatives...?
Yes ❤!!! Obviously this is very helpful . Because of this switching inequality signs i was not able to understand my maths and lot of doubts came to my mind & that made many problems😏. But when i searched for this in google i got this vdo 😊 & this really helped ❤ Thank you so much for your help by this vdo❤
still trying haven't done any problems with the "move the number" option so I feel slow on that one but the other two i see the problems and I now understand.... I'm doing mymathlab for algebra 1. Thanks man !
There are two main problems with math and numbers in general. The first is negative numbers which should be labeled as opposite instead of negative because zero is zero there can be nothing less than none even if you had zero dollars and owed someone infinity dollars you may be behind on having something more than what they will receive from you but when the money goes from you to them your supposed negative is still their positive so oppositional computation would better explain and define what the reality of it is. Second is every numerical designation, quantity and or value is used as( 1 = one of any given object that has at least a single representation of it's self) but the flaw is in using this to label a very large but finite group of objects (people, places, things, and any and all forms you can imagine of all those, some of those, and in between those groups but the absence of them can not be one of nothing so defining things as 1 though each one can be identical to different in size, shape, density, elasticity, visuality, tactility and so on gives to the one thing that is inevitable are minute we feel flaws in calculations when all those things and all the universe interacting with them on any and all levels, planes, and dimensions of that whole object instead of that 1 object and as numbers can only go in one true direction those minute flaws add up till a day arrives where the asteroid hits your house instead of missing the planet by how ever many miles that scientist were so sure of because it works for now Examples being: absolute zero being less than zero, opposites attract, I had another example but lost it in thought but in a graph that shows wins vs. losses both numerical designations are positive numbers So that would mean that negative is only a point of view that we have used to manipulate math into our favor which is still a positive lol
You actually showed the scenarios in which the inequality sign changes but why does it change in the first place is unclear. Maybe talk about how when you multiply both sides of an inequality by a negative number, you reverse their positions on the number line. For example, if: 2 < 3 Multiplying both sides by -1: 2 \times (-1) > 3 \times (-1) -2 > -3 The direction of the inequality sign changes because multiplying by -1 reverses the order of the numbers. On the number line, -3 is to the left of -2, which means -2 is greater than -3.
The number by itself does not matter as much as the number connected to the variable. So if the 20 was negative in this example the sign would still change because you are still dividing by -2.
Why do we just change the direction without adding/removing the equality? Shouldn't just < become >=, and ? If the idea is to "negate" it, then why don't we also add or remove the equality accordingly?
bruh whyd you skip classes- just like draw or something and tune in every ten minutes. then consult your textbook for anything you missed. thats what i do every day and i have a b- in math so...

You actually showed the scenarios in which the inequality sign changes but why does it change in the first place is unclear. Maybe talk about how when you multiply both sides of an inequality by a negative number, you reverse their positions on the number line. For example, if:
2 < 3
Multiplying both sides by -1:

The direction of the inequality sign changes because multiplying by -1 reverses the order of the numbers. On the number line, -3 is to the left of -2, which means -2 is greater than -3.
Your teaching was really good and plus points for the practice questions....➕➕
I am gonna share this with my fellow classmates.😊😇
Please do! Thanks! :)
@@EricBuffington Already done😇
2:31 what if the 20 in negative do I need to flip the sign?
The number by itself does not matter as much as the number connected to the variable. So if the 20 was negative in this example the sign would still change because you are still dividing by -2.
Very helpful............thanku sir
