You are amazing and I only use your videos to make instant pot recipes so far. I have made the pot roast, chilli, enchiladas, and making some ribs now. Going to try the Jerk Chicken this week. You need to come out with a cookbook. The videos are easy to follow as well.
THIS WAS FRIGGING AMAZING!!! hubby loves me again cuz i can cook lol...thanks Jeff ❤
I made this tonight (marinated chicken yesterday afternoon - late this afternoon). I didn’t add ANY of the mentioned hot peppers and I STILL sweat from the spices ! Guess I’m a wimp ! I loved it. I made prepackaged fried rice and also cooked up a package of coleslaw (all of these - chicken, rice and coleslaw in the 8 quart Ninja Foodie) like they do at the asian restaurants that cook in front of you. I had a nice dinner ! Wish my husband liked it. He’s a straight meat and potatoes kind of guy. This is too exotic for him. That’s ok. I have a food saver and I can pack ‘em up and heat them up whenever I want ! Thanks for the great recipe !
"Medium Spicy" was my stripper name in the late '70s.
👍🏽🤣
Haha hahaha😂
Love your channel, have never had a bad experience with any of your recipes and many of them are on my "regular rotation". Can't wait to try this one!
Who here just use Walkerswood Jerk Sauce? But, I've never pressure cooked it. On my lazy day will try.
I like Grace's better. I just marinade over night.
Jamaican me hungry!!!...
I AM makin' this tomorrow night!!! With black beans, plantains and rice! Jeff you're my dinnertime Jew-macian hero!
Omg, cannot wait to make this recipe. Thank you Jeffery you are the best. 🙃😉
Jeffery...It's me again ...your mother...Look me and your father can't eat that verkakte chicken.
Would it kill you to make some nice Soup for a change.Maybe with the Lentils like we like. I'm not the one to bother here ...Well you know.
Hey from Orlando. Loved this video! Thanks!
Spray your measuring cup with nonstick spray and the honey will slide right out!
Colby Moore I do that all the time.
Good tip! 👍🏽
Just put it in the microwave for five or ten seconds and it will pour like water. Also microwave the honey container before measuring it. Thin honey works so much easier...
I paused this video to watch videos of people biting into peppers. I'm back 3 hours later.
🤣🤣🤣
Yes can buy dry jerk seasoning.
Jerk chicken supposed to be crispy and burnt tho. Place it under the broiler for 5 minutes
Thanks Jeff everything I’ve done so far with your recipes has been awesome I don’t like heat so I’m going to try this with a quarter of a pepper just give it a little snap but I don’t like to sweat when I’m eating
This looks so! so! good! I will have to try it. Thank for sharing your video Jeff!
Oxtails next?!
Woo hoo! One for Canada! I can't ever find Habanero peppers when I'm making your chili, but I can find Scotch Bonnet peppers!
I am jealous of your snapping magical powers! 💕❤️
Jewmaican, you got to love this guy!
I just want to cook the chicken. Grace made the jerk (mild) sauce for me. I'm going to let it marinade over night.
I'm making those Apple juice ribs as I watch this video. Breaking my no pork rule. I'll make the beef cocoa cola short ribs next. I'm sure this will be finger licking good. Thanks for the recipes.
Another great recipe!
Scotch Bonnet pepper orderable from Walmart or any other store? Japeleno is mild at best,
Maybe it's just me but your jerk chicken is way too soggy and saucy. Instant pot is great for a lot of things but it doesn't do crispy. I'll stick with the oven, thanks.
Steven Doe that’s why he said u could stick it in the oven and broil it or flash grill it to get desired result !!!
That was no sear, more like boiled.
You need to be on TV, you detail is amazing . As a cook, I usually scream at the screen because the majority of UTube cooks have no idea what they are doing, you are the exception, Thanks, from NYC!
For shame!!! - none for Richard? hmmm - I luv seeing his reactions/expressions when enjoying/(or not) your recipe results! LOL :)
respect!!! greetings from Amsterdam
Hoisin sauce, chinese 5 spice, honey and pineapple in jerk chicken? Whaaaaaaaa?
cdhall124 trust
The 5 spice has the seasonings commonly used in jerk Chicken.
him kno how fe season!
Lol
Looks Fantastic... Cannot wait to try! Where did you get the blender with the dough function on it?
I am wondering if the chicken was marinated under vacuum would that reduce the marinate time??
Jeff, I know you spent a fair bit of time talking about the different peppers and the intensity of their heat but jerk chicken is all about the Scotch Bonnet/Habanero pepper, not because of the heat but the flavour, it's very unique. Remove all seeds and membranes of the pepper if needed and even use only half of a pepper, but use the real ones... and as per the chinese ingredients, I might actually try them the next time. Thanks
Quite a bit
you are closer to Jamaica Queens than I am...
sounds like he's in south jersey/philly from the accent...so yeah, pretty close.
Good job, I like the scotch bonnet style tho, you can add more sugar to turn down the heat a little.
and turn up the Diabetus!
My chicken’s swearing at me, did I do something wrong?
That Tomorrowland plate tho😍
went to another creator for a recipe and while it was good and they ate it, i didn't get the overwhelming kudos i got the 4 previous nights cooking meals from your play list. working on the potato salad now and like i said i can't stray too far from the family recipe but the dressing will sure be a big surprise for them because i'm making yours to a T. thankyou for the content.
Love this!!
Scotch Bonnet - I physically burned my fingers by chopping some of these - please beware!
You don't cut them...
This looks absolutely divine. I think I used a habanero pepper in one of your previous recipes but I’m gonna go with your recommendation of the jalapeño. This will be on the menu this week at my home. Thank you so much
Only way u can get scotch bonnet is to grow them. Habanero is very close. They freeze really well too.
Btw, the name comes from the way they jerk the chicken on the grill, I think.
Also, if you cut the slices peppers with the skin side up there will be less chance of getting all the heat on your fingers. I do it all the time and I'm a serious ChileHead. I'd use the habanero!
I find this amusing because here in Canada Scotch Bonnets are readily available at most grocery stores, but I have never seen a Habanero.
That looks awesome. I had literally just washed my hands from chopping jalapeno & onion when I started watching you. I can make a meal out of just pico de gallo (jalapeno, onion, & tomato). This time I'm adding avocado, hard egg, & tuna fish to macaroni for a salad. Can't wait to try your jerk chicken. Oh, btw, serrano peppers would work well too.
Props for the Gaiety reference ;)
Where is the salt? 1/4 cup of soy sauce does not provide enough salt to salt this dish. Other than that, good recipe.
15:32 I decided I was going to eat this while listening to some Big Daddy Kane.
I LOVE jerk chicken. We do whole wings in the smoker with jerk seasoning, as finish it with the sauce. I can't wait to try your recipe in the Instant Pot!
If you double the chicken do you just stack them in the instant pot?
Why didn’t you just use real Jamaican jerk seasoning
If you can find potato starch, it works much better than corn starch in my experience.
What about molasses?
Thank you love your explanations and great recipes
The thing about the habanero/scotch bonnet is that it has a fruity kind of heat and complexity that a jalapeno doesn't have. The way to tone down the heat somewhat is to remove the seeds and pith. That gives you a slow-burning heat with that fruity, complex undertone. It's not jerk chicken if you use a jalapeno. Use the habaneros. Trust me. I've been to Jamaica 19 times and I make a jerk chicken that makes people weep with joy. And for G*d's sake, no pineapple juice in the marinade! I mix pineapple juice with ketchup, some reserved marinade, and 3/4 cup of Red Stripe beer, brought to a simmer and cooked down till it's thickened. about 1/2 hour. This recipe may be delicious, and it may be Jewmaican, but it ain't Jamaican jerk chicken.
What do you know about Jamaica Queens?
Damn, that looks good. I'm gonna do it over some rice. Wow. Thanks Jeff.
Hey Jeff! Is it OK to use orange instead of pineapple?
I get my scotch bonnet peppers at Walmart. My advice - be very cautious - they are so hot that they burn my fingers and the irritation lasts for days. They're great in various recipes though.
I have to wear nitrile gloves when I work with peppers. My skin is so sensitive.
Rock on bro. GREAT VIDEO!
I learned that you can make that Jerk Sauce into a KILLER BBQ sauce if you add (no BS) Chocolate syrup and ground cinnamon then render down thick by boiling. I also add a bit of vinegar.
Good stuff.
We live in San Antonio, TX. So we have mounds of Scotch Bonnet peppers at the grocery store. There’s a big Mexican community here in Texas so most anything spicy will be readily available. No complaints here! I like it hot. 🔥
You probably can find the pepper at a international market Indian, Russian market in Coney Island.
Can I cook the jerk chicken marinade, when it’s completed the 24 hours in the fridge, in a deep fat fryer? Thanks!
This is fabulous! I love hot dishes which my kids know. So, when we were in Mexico and not knowing what a Habanero pepper was, I took one to our table to eat. My son, in the meanwhile, knowing full well what it was had gone to get me a glass of milk. Which he gave me, as I ate the pepper by itself. Ya, mon, that was hot! I always thought cartoons that depicted smoke coming out of someone's ears were just for show! Nope, my ears were on fire. 😉 But ~ I still love HOT so used a Habanero in this.
I recommend Serrano peppers IF you don't want the Habanero intensity. I find Jalapeños inconsistent with respect to spiciness. Also, broiling as a substitute to grilling is highly recommended if doing Instant Pot. I'm going to adapt your recipe for the Ninja Foodi, thank you for providing the idea.
Scotch Bonnets are quite easy to find in Toronto 👍🏻 but we’re lucky enough to have a heavy West Indian population so there’s a demand for them
How about tatties and mince ???? My mother’s from Scotland and she would make it for me when I was younger . I think the instant pot could really pull it off !
11:06 4h or 24h / overnight
I used serrano peppers and was kick ass
I prefer serrano over jalapeno. The weird thing is I think jalapenos are hotter than serrano
You were just 1 tbsp of pickapeppa sauce in that gravy, away from being a honorary Jamaican!
Tesco sell scotch bonnet
I’m excited to try this recipe.
Interesting recipe for jerk sauce and it looks good but where is the ginger, cinnamon and thyme...?
It's in house grade jerk, but you got to have the grill and smoke. I use alder wood since pimento is to expensive. I mix alder, cinnamon, and pimento berries together and smoke/grill
Chinese 5 spice has cinnamon
I already jerked my chicken. Seriously, if you get a "pepper burn" in your eye or anywhere else, use milk.
You should never bang your spoons on the edge of your pressure cooker: you could put a dent in the rim and it won’t seal.
Just got back from a Caribbean vacation, spent the week with a vegetarian so I cannot wait to make this recipe. Of course I am behind and need to make the arroz con pollo and corn chowder first.
In some cases it is just as quick to use stovetop. I think this is one of those instances.
Well another grocery haul for me I been making your Recipes for 2 weeks Omg so good I made the Arroz Con Pollo tonight tomorrow I'm making the Crab Chowder Soup
scotch bonnets are easy to find here in Canada.
ALso, at minute marker 16, you are positively glistening under those lights...or maybe its the pepper ;)
Where can I find the recipe to print
Your the man , I love your recipes thanks 😎👍
Jeff you're the human equivalent of cornstarch.... just bringing everything together.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉
Your dad jokes are totally charming!! This looks amazing
Thanks for another Paleo Friendly dish, Jeffery! I have been interested in trying Jerk Chicken and now I have now excuse. I even have most of the ingredients in house.
I'm new to pressure luck instant pot videos....just asking....where can I get he whole recipe?
He said pressureluck.com
LOVE this video and I WANT a set of those plates! Where did you get them?
What about Banjo? Maybe he got a treat. He’s so cute
You are just a human being that love jerk chicken
I got scotch bonnet in my eye. I rinsed it under a cold water tap for 25 mins.
@@jamesryan6224 Capsaicin doesn't actually damage anything. I rinsed it because the cool water felt good against the burn while also slowly rinsing it off. Milk in the eye is a good way to give yourself a nasty infection.
@@o3MTA3o I know all about it. I have been a Pro Chef 45 years. Yes, indeed, raw undiluted pepper juice can cause very serious injury. The alkaline and enzymes in milk neutralize those in Capsaicin.. Capsaicin in creams and ointments is diluted and buffered so as to not cause burns.
@@jamesryan6224 Maybe if you start rubbing your eyes like crazy, but I just went straight for the water. No damage beyond some eye redness and a sore back from being bent over at the sink for 25 mins.
@@o3MTA3o Okay I see I am talking with a child,
@@jamesryan6224 Oh get off your high horse. Just because you're near death doesn't make others children.
Give some chicken to your cute puppy 🐶
