Oh come on ?! I remember people saying 90's country was not country ( Garth Brooks, faith Hill, etc). Heck even restless heart DOESN'T sound like "traditional country" but NOW accepted. I have lived through the 1980s - 1990s.
I caught wind of these girls when their first album came out in 1986 but didn't buy it until about a year or so later. Man, I can't remember what happened to that cassette tape? I probably lost it out on a party somewhere because I used to take some of my tapes out with me when I went out partying. Ahhh, the 80s & the music !!
I love you ladies ! You put on a fantastic show. I first seen you two in Hanford, CA (Where ?) back in the early 90's. I fell in love that night. Great music songs and beauty. My girlfriend took me to the concert. I could never thank her enough. I believe that the song said it all, Satisfy you.
Still listening in 2021, The so callled New Country is Not Country Compared to the Old Country Music. And V.G had a major Brain Fart when he made the choice that he did.
I was glad to see that they were successful,I do miss their singing. I went to school with them both.Janis was in most of my classes, and Kris use to be on my after school bowling team.
Couple of the best singers. Not to sure what Vince Gill was thinking but you never know anyone til you live with them. Janice is one of the best looking women I know.
@@douglasgempel6392 I love the history of their group's name with the Byrds, and their obvious connection to Vince Gill, who played with the Eagles, and he played in Pure Prairie League - such a small world in music.
I met The Sweethearts of the Rodeo many years ago when they performed at the Midnight Rodeo in Lubbock, Tx. After the show we got to talking and they signed the t-shirt and cap I'd bought and gave me the nickname T-Bone. Such awesome ladies
I totally agree. the Sweethearts brought me so much joy. seems like when Vince Gill and Janis Gill broke up I didn't hear from the sweethearts anymore. I think they're outrageously good
After just reading your 4 year old post, I do have to agree. We worked hard and played harder, which was HELL, to have to play harder than we worked, because in those days, you worked harder than ever, when you went to look for a job, you didn't tell the boss when you would and wouldn't be in to work, because partying took priority over a work schedule. You didn't have a job long, IF AT ALL. But, hey we all survived working our fingers to the bones. And STILL able to play harder!!! The world was so much of a different, better kind of different, and very hard living, but almost easier, it was a simpler way of life back then. When we had supper, the phone, ours on the kitchen wall, was taken off the hook, so to not interrupt family supper. We didn't take our food and run into another room, to do face time with friends. Family meant something then. In those days, blood was thicker than water. What it would be, to go back then, and live on the $3.35 an hour (minimum wage), be able to pay bills, and still be able to take the family to the movies, or out to dinner at a restaurant, or go play miniature golf, AS A COMPLETE FAMILY. The 70's and 80's were just grand, to live in those times. Wasn't it. Even onto part of the 1990's but by the mid 1990's, life was hell for everybody. What ever happened to our society and social structure???
I grew up on a ranch in Montana. Country music was Eddy Arnold, Patsy Cline, Hank Snow and so on. Now days it is something else much more like rock-n-roll. I like rock well enough but when I want country I have to go back to the old standards... that being said this group is great!!
My wife and I fell hard for these sisters when we first saw them on Austin City Limits; then later that summer we got to see them live at the Washington County Fair in Hillsboro, Oregon. When we got their autographs after the show, I had to ask where they found their incredibly talented lead guitarist with the Buddy Holly glasses. They told me Denver, Colorado … the now legendary Kenny Vaughan.
One my favorite music artist. Band All greatest hits songs and album though years back then , on radio stations charts. One there album had by it in Nashville record shop.
Even if I wouldn't have known that they were related I would assume that they were cousins. Supposing that they weren't family and were lesbians, who cares? They sound like angels.
My, must share, Janice is stunningly beautiful! You lovely ladies defined (along ago) fascination American, heartland culture, thank you! And I wish the best for the unsung folks throughout america who work so hard for all us city folk:-) Thank you, if there is anything you need, please count on me, least I can do for such hard working folk ...
In case I haven't left a message here already about this video, I just wanted to say thank you so much for getting having it be here, I have always loved it and the song as well too and I was only six years old when they first got released! (shaking my head with a smile) God bless you and Janis and Christine always!!! Holly in East Tennessee (age 29 & a day one fan of country music)
This is more than just a country music, I wish I have listen to this song some years back, may be I wouldn't have lost her to another man. I can't stop loving her, I wish she can come back , I will do anything to satisfy her
Only Vince Gill played in Pure Prairie League . Janis Oliver , the older Sweetheart of the Rodeo sister was married to Vince Gill but they were never in Pure Prairie League my Dear ☮️
Loved these two! What the heck became of them...I really thought they where on their way! Guess maybe that got eclipsed by the Judds maybe. Baillie and the Boys were great too! Lot of great '80 country act just kind of disappeared. like The Shooters, Mason Dixon and Skip Ewing for instance.
Saw them a little later a Sweetwater, early'80 -- Janice pregnant and wearing brace -- still thought she was gorgeous. Kristine was, in the words of a local critic, blowing the wall off the back of the bar. And to Payton Chacalo, was there ever a better place to end a night than the Criterion? Good times.
This was and is country music!!!! Even in January of 2023. Can't count the number of times I heard this song. Perfect Harmony!!!!
Yes sir, good stuff. Darn shame now country is anything but. Lol
Yes!!!
This is California country, one of many styles of country music.
Oh come on ?! I remember people saying 90's country was not country ( Garth Brooks, faith Hill, etc). Heck even restless heart DOESN'T sound like "traditional country" but NOW accepted. I have lived through the 1980s - 1990s.
@@tichtran664 Garth Brooks was never country. Never considered his song that great anyway.
They are the BEST!!!!
Haven’t heard these ladies in many years until the other day on Sirius radio. It’s refreshing to hear this old music again. Great stuff 👍
I wish this kind of real music comes back to the bar's and the radio
amazing singers. They were so much better than the pop country singers of today.
When Country was REAL Country! At 69-yo, what memories this song brings to mind!
Two great Ladies
I love you ladies ! You put on a fantastic show. I first seen you two in Hanford, CA (Where ?) back in the early 90's. I fell in love that night. Great music songs and beauty. My girlfriend took me to the concert. I could never thank her enough. I believe that the song said it all, Satisfy you.
I miss this kind of music
it's right here. nothing to miss, God Bless!!!!

You mean country music? Ya...me too.
They're so beautiful! They sing beautifully too.
They are amazing and one of the best concerts I have ever been to.
Still listening in 2021, The so callled New Country is Not Country Compared to the Old Country Music. And V.G had a major Brain Fart when he made the choice that he did.

Here because of Lisa McHugh.
Sweet harmony, today's country doesn't hold a candle to that era sheer muscle talent.
Unbelievable harmony.This was country music.
Janice is adorable, love the "down home" sound, conjures up visions of rural americana, something I deeply respect!
Couple of the best singers. Not to sure what Vince Gill was thinking but you never know anyone til you live with them. Janice is one of the best looking women I know.
Wow! I wish country music still sounded like this instead of what passes for country music today.

I love Wynonna but these girls blow The Judds out of the water! I've seen both in concert and these girls kick ass!!!
We've seen them both as well and there's no comparison. The Sweethearts are great!
Great upbeat tempo and harmony. Great singers

So true !!
Love their harmony. Talented ladies. Has kind of a Cajun sound at the start with the accordion.
Sweethearts of the Rodeo indeed! They’re gorgeous and sing like angels. One of my all time favorites.
These two gala epitomized the 1980s country music sound

They had one of the best sound in music and Kristine is a very good song writer and can flat rip a guitar with best
It's her older sister Janis , Vince Gills ex wife , that plays guitar ☮️
My favorite song from this duo. This is what real country music sounds like!

Still a awesome song in 2021!!!
Great video. This was filmed at the Houston Astrodome at the livestock show and rodeo.

Damn! Shenandoah ripped this song completely off with the melody line to next to you!
The 80’s country is the best some 70’s was also great.
I would love to meet a country girl like these two fine ladies.
And.... have you met a sweetheart now?
This is real country music not like the shit they have today
How fortunate we are to experience this. Thanks girls, beautiful stuff. Watching from Australia.
Listened to this song for the first time in the early 90's. Still rocks

Saw them live in the '80's do this not 40ft. away. Perfect!
Got this album on cassette. I freaking love it. Cheers
Real country ... not today's trash
...moments later,....it just dawned on me...they could be proclaimed as the female version of the "Everly Brothers of the 80's" I see a likeness here.
True country
This is great
not finished.....this song and the music is fantastic. ..I loved it and watched it over and over again.
Sorry but they sound better than any of today's female country singers. I had the biggest crush on both of them.
Je connais les Sweetharts grâce à l'émission de Georges Lang sur RTL dans les années 80 ou 90 je ne sais plus très bien, ça ne date pas d'hier.
Kristine Oliver-Arnold
Second to none.. Best female country singer ever lived
haven't heard from you in forever.come back and sing for us girls
female Everlly brothers.sounds like one person singing
