    Lyrics:
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Well I never have wandered down to New Orleans
Never have drifted down a bayou stream
But I heard that music on the radio
And I swore some day I was gonna go
    Down Highway 10 past Lafayette
To Baton Rouge and I won't forget
To send you a card with my regrets
'Cause I'm never gonna come back home
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
They got a alligator stew and a crawfish pie
A golf storm blowin' into town tonight
Livin on the delta's quite a show
They got hurricane parties every time it blows
And here up north it's a cold cold rain
And there ain't no cure for my blues today
Except when the paper says: Beausoleil is coming into town
    Baby let's go down
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Bring your mama, bring your papa, bring your sister too
They got lots of music and lots of room
When they play you a waltz from 1910
You gonna feel a little bit young again
Well you learned to dance with your rock'n'roll
You learned to swing with a do-si-do
But you learn to love at the fais-so-do
When you hear a little Jolie Blon
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight

It's all connected - and Mary Chapin Carpenter literally leaps into the beating heart of joy, of dance, of celebration. How we need that spirit just now (2021 getting under way). The Bible speaks of a 'weight of glory' - that doesn't mean it's dull or heavy. This is what brought the Cajuns from Canada to the bayous, and what can raise us from the doldrums of CoViD and family feuding to a new day. All y'all spoke truth - let me just say 'amen' to Mike Rayner: 'Well, this was fun!' [Do all y'all from outside the Gulf understand 'hurricane parties'? Love her chuckle at the end....].

That's because you just can't go wrong with 90's Country. I'm a musician and play in a country band and it's amazing how people only want to talk about the extremely old country or the brand new country but as a musician, the sounds I hear in 90's Country are unmatched and there's virtually no way possible someone can't like it. If you got tired of Country, I can't blame you because I did too (new country) but tune in to 90's Country and maybe some late 80's and you'll hear the best music that ever came out of Nashville.

you said it. I was only 1 when this was released but I remember hearing it alot in the early 90s. I mean there's a couple good songs today but pretty much every one on my itunes playlist ranges from the late 70s to 1999, with a couple from maybe 2006-2007. A majority of the songs are from 1990-1994. There's so many singers out there today that I just do not like at all, like Rascal Flatts for example. It's too "pop" now.

Like you said, they'll talk about trucks, and drinking beer, partying, and girls... just a bunch of meaningless excess. Not that there's anything wrong with happy, uplifting music, but the country music of today is just frivolous. There's nothing deep or spiritual about it. They're trying to make us all into shallow consumers who just shut our minds off and never think critically about anything. They don't want us to question their narratives or disobey their constant manipulation of society so they can shape it in whatever image they want, which is a weak, brainless, malleable populace who serves the elites and doesn't rock the boat.
