Hehehe, this is funny because while I lived in Croatia for a brief time my neigbours were a Croat-Mexican couple with children and a bit of extended family from Mexico.
Yes but you've probably heard this song ua-cam.com/video/fg2BWuGM90s/v-deo.html which is nothing but a croatian version of mexican "Las Mañanitas", a song mexicans sing at every birthday party. ua-cam.com/video/5ar42kauTd8/v-deo.html
@@YugoslavForever I think he overstated it a little bit, cause the most popular genre in Serbia always was and always will be Serbian folk. I think that during 50's Mexican music was treated as a pop music, but then quickly went out of favour for Italian, French, British and of course, the American style of pop. By the way, there's a wonderful Serbian movie from the 90's called Tango Argentino in which Mija Aleksic has a role of an old singer who became popular singing Latin based music, but now is forgotten. I think his artistic name was Julio Popovich :) It was also Mija's final role.
It's great that someone made a video on this topic. Great video and greetings from Serbia.

A pretty interesting topic nicely done brother
Some of the folk traditional Mexican dances and songs have a strong influence of the balkans to me : the colors, the costumes, the rhythm etc

It did, it came to every part of Yugoslavia. But it was popular in like 1950s.
