This video shows how misinformed the west is when it comes to the history of Balkans. Our history goes as far back from thousands of years ago during the middle ages. Where Kingdoms of Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia were existing as countries from 700-1000 AD, countries like Bosnia and Croatia aren't new countries as you claim they are. Once Yugoslavia was formed in 1918, the Yugoslav breakup was inevitable because of the Ethnic differences the people had because of this long lasting history.
True we exited far back from the middle ages and it is not fair we know every thing happened in West and other People form Western countries or Americans dont even know we exist or know only SFRJ period and after.
You may be right about the west, but the video creator never claimed the Balkan countries were new. Just that after centuries of imperial occupation, they had few points of pride to draw from that period, or ways to differentiate themselves except Islam I guess.

Slovenia also has an extensive history. Slovene, as a language with grammar and rules, has existed since the 16th century and our first literary text (the Freising Manuscripts) was written sometime between 972 and 1000 A.D. Our ancestors settled part of this country in the 6th century. Our first attempts at gaining independence go as far back as the 15th century.

lol it's so much fun watching someone on the outside looking in trying to unravel the epic clusterfuck that is the balkans. I can only imagine the sort of headaches you must have suffered through
hahahah brilliant! Fully enjoyed video!.. You brought to me some happy and somber memories. I was in the states during the period that lasted from 1996 to 2002 and ther was still war waging in the balkans. I was dating at that time a Bosnian Serb girl named Vesna as she was a refugee amongside many others of various ex-Yugoslav ethnicities. They often seemed to argue among themselves, and of course they rarely translated me what the matter of discussions where. But i remember how proud and fiery they where. Some where Bosnian croats, like Senad or Purely Bosnian like Adil. However they would never get into fights and ultimately they would calm down and have another party together. As an italian among them, i have never got to seep into that balcanic strong bejaviour and array of emotions, often times so colliding. But i learned to appreciate , the connection, the generosity and the love they were capable of. It was torching inside, to assist to this humongous tragedy unfolding, but yet ita has been a wonderful experience for me to be with them and share their quotidianity. One time while i was there in the US i happened to stumble across a serbian movie, in a Blockbuster , called Lepo Selo, Lepo Gore. I was oblivious of what it could contain. But when i saw it, i was totally distraught and torn apart.A very cruel and deep rendition of the conflict that really made me weep like a baby. The music in it was also very emotional and neat. To wrap it up , from my experience of Ex-Yugoslav people is of strong mixed feelings but a lot of positive and admired ones. Balkans are not for the faint of heart and people from those places are strong, proud, weolcoming people, but also stubborn, nationalist, and traditionalist beyond belief. Watch that movie if you haven't yet.. and sorry for my broken english, for i have lost it a little since i have made my comeback to Italy
Yeah the Serb bias is way too strong. In Bosnia the most popular songs were: "Mojoj dragoj BiH" -sung by Muslims, Croats and Serbs, then "Vojnik Sreće" - by Dino Merlin, then "Sva Bol Svijeta" - by Fazla, and other Songs which weren't nationalistic nor turbo folk. But throughout the entire video he equates this with nationalistic songs which came mainly from rebel Serbs. Stupid video.
I'm actually impressed by how well informed snakelover23 is on the topic of the Yugoslav wars and the Turbofolk genre, he sounds like an actual diaspora Yugoslav,

Where Kingdoms of Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia were existing as countries from 700-1000 AD, countries like Bosnia and Croatia aren't new countries as you claim they are.
Once Yugoslavia was formed in 1918, the Yugoslav breakup was inevitable because of the Ethnic differences the people had because of this long lasting history.

lol it's so much fun watching someone on the outside looking in trying to unravel the epic clusterfuck that is the balkans.

@@panakid2nd He's full of shit and bias.

Virgin US gamer: "noooo they are singing about hatred and stealing songs it is weird"
Chad Baja Mali: "My father is is war criminal!"
I'm actually impressed by how well informed snakelover23 is on the topic of the Yugoslav wars and the Turbofolk genre, he sounds like an actual diaspora Yugoslav,
hes not informed at all
Lol the guy thinks Merlin is Turbofolk singer...is he deaf
My father was a marksman in the yugoslav army in 1988. Thank god he didn't see action. To those who fought on all three sides however... Couldn't find a salute emoji but respect to you!
@AP Gamer we are from Macedonia. That's part of the reason he wasn't enlisted again and the reason why i don't pick one side because our nation seperated peacefully.
@@_0_restart_0_ Is Macedonia or better FYR Macedonija,damn Greeks copyrights

This is like listening to a friend explaining the history lesson that you missed, I love it, I hope snakelover23 makes more of these in the future.
Ppl talk about the Vietnam War having the best soundtrack, but now I think the Yugoslav War arc definitely comes in for the most BASED soundtrack
I remember a friend of mine’s dad who moved out of Croatia when the war started, showed me a old calendar from his village dedicated to all who were fighting at the time.
Orthodox/Catholic/Muslim god BLESS YOU for re-uploading this 🙏🙏🙏
@Die Maschine where he said that they aren't
@NKVD officer two of those being Christian isn't as relevant as all three believing the same god.
TFW all three (along with Judaism) belong to the Abrahamic religions that worship the same creator. Making mutual animosity even more nonsensical.
@Bitchlenko no
@Solve Everything Christianity started in Jerusalem you know?
I love the fact that this isn’t bias and is pointing the finger at one specific country but equal blame.
@ take a chill pill, its a joke
@ hell yeah, I am on your side
Planet Piss Well Croats and Bosnians are the bad guys, too. Probably that will give you some attention.
@lkfvhg Yes, they are. Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats were all the bad guys and they were exterminating each ethnicity that didn't fit to them.
@lkfvhg Vukovar got rekt
