how is it that I'm only 16 and I still love the simplicity of older movies/tv shows and appreciate how iconic bullitt is and what it did for the car world. Steve McQueen is a legend there will never be another person as influential in the car and movie world as him. He was a world class race driver and an iconic movie star. The bullitt mustang is one car i want to be able to own at one point in my life. i recommend you all watch the movie, even if it seems boring at first, just keep watching. i still love the newer movies like f&f (never watched gone in 60 sec or transformers) but there is something nostalgic about watching steve mcqueen chase the guy in the charger through the streets of San Francisco. trust me you wont regret it
I actually got a ride from Matt Maran in his bullitt and his biggest complaint was the gearing as well. We could literally do 70mph is second gear. It was crazy...but it does sound AMAZING!!
I've owned a black Bullitt for 3 months now that I got mainly for the magneride. I have to say the best compliment i got was it looks like a car James Bond would drive. It's my first car over 200 HP and my first car with a manual. I have to say I love this car. Haven't gotten around to learning how to heal toe though...
I was able to see the 2019 Bullitt in person last June at the ford headquarters just sitting in an employee lot, felt really cool because it was just before all the press releases came out.
Are you kidding? The movie "Bullitt" starring Steve Mcqueen was a badass movie, mainly because of the car chase scenes filmed in San Francisco. Yeah, it was ahead of your time.
I saw the movie Bullitt when I was in my late teens, and there was nothing like it at the time. Today's movie goers are too used to CGI where nothing is really plausible and it gets really boring seeing the same excessively over the top crap. Just as I cannot sit through over the top CGI effects in movies today, I understand the current generation's thinking about real action movies with no CGI are boring to them. Each to their own. I still remember how good (unhealthy) hamburgers were made years ago compared to the modern-day mush version. You don't know what you don't know.
TheStraightPipes I’m trying to put this in terms my brothers to the North might understand... Watching the ESPN Sportscenter highlights of the Stanley Cup Finals is NOT the same as actually watching the entire Stanley Cup finals. 🤪
It’s saddening when the younger generations compare Nicolas cage with Steve McQueen and the Bullitt car chase with fast and furious. It’s like comparing chalk and cheese and looking for similarities. The major differences apart from McQueen having a car built in his honour and not having to wear a hairpiece. He was not only as cool as they come. He grew up pretty much an orphan, was a US marine and wasn’t related to a director like Coppola to make it. The chase scene in Bullitt was a real chase on real streets and McQueen drove the car. In fact McQueen was the real deal racing motorcycles and cars. So much so that professional race drivers at Le Mans said McQueen was damn quick and could easily compete with the best drivers in the world. He competed in many motorcycle events placing as high as third. Due to his acting schedule he couldn’t apply himself as he would have wished, but was highly respected by the motorcycle racing fraternity as a competitive racer. There would also be no dodge red eye as the challenger was the bad guys car. They will not be building a car in honour of the fast and furious or Nicolas cage in 50 years. “Racing is life, everything before and after is just waiting” Steve McQueen the King Of Cool.
Let me explain.... It wasn’t so much about the movie but more about the cars in the movie. The Mustang in the movie was a 68 Mustang GT 390FE big block and top loader 4 spd, it was the muscle car that the everyday guy could afford and wanted badly and in a drag race it could smoke any small block Shelby Mustang. As automotive reviewers you should really brush up on your car knowledge.
I am a VERY fortunate owner of a '68 GT390 FE Fastback big block here in Australia. It was made in San Jose in May 1968 & came off the same production line as the ORIGINAL "Bullitt" movie Mustangs. It was imported here in 2012 & it remains LHD. "Unfortunately" it is an auto but hey I'll live with that!😂I still smile from ear to ear every time I take it out. The looks it gets from young & old never ceases to amaze me. Each time I drive "Steve" I am almost cool 😎. And yes I bought the 2018 Mustang Bullitt.
McQueen is still the king of cool. He once raced in a race with a broken foot he injured while riding a motorcycle. He raced cars. He raced bikes. He slayed the ladies. McQueen is my spirit guide.
I'm 30 years old grew up with old movies and I love watching anything from the 60s and back and Steve McQueen is an Ironic actor and the movie is a Classic! If they remake a car from an old movie then that definitely means something! I want this just because it's a Bullitt remake , i need a reviewer who will appreciate what the car is and its a classic remake! The new generation and my generation is to spoiled, they don't appreciate classic like this! The car is fire 🔥 and close to the orginal and Better! Here for car not the commentary!
No brained for me. My dad was a mustang guy all his life. He had 2 mustangs that were track ready and raced them often. He owned the first 1969 mustang fast back made in Germany. The car was purchased brand new by someone in the service that was based there. He had it shipped back to the states when he returned home. My dad was the 3rd owner. The name Mustang is German and the first line of mustangs were built in Germany. Thanks for the review on the new Bullit. My dad would’ve loved too have seen it. He passed away 4 years ago. Thanks again. Have a phenomenal day!
Watching clips gives you NOTHING about "Bullitt", Jakob and Yuri. The opening credits were really impressive, especially for 1968. It's a pretty tight police procedural, with a classic car chase. The Henry Mancini(him, right?) score was awesome as well. Watch the movie, boys.
Yuri, Yuri, Yuri... I know you're young, and don't have the same frame of reference, but preferring Nicholas Cage over Steve Mc Queen screams "Lightweight".
Steve McQueen was a great actor in many legendary movies. Papillon and the Great Escape plus others. Bullitt was not his best movie but a “first” in car chases. He was the ultimate cool actor before Clint Eastwood came along. Harrison Ford followed up. Now it’s Keanu Reaves?
What makes this movie more iconic over all the others is how big it resonated to the car enthusiast as well as the general public at the time it came out and how long it held its status. You just don't get this with movies of today. Sure there are better car chases now, or more explosions etc now. But when Bullett came out, it set a benchmark for its time with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Steve McQueen was the king of cool who never lost that image, as well he was a real race driver who just resonated with car enthusiasts. Nicolas Cage doesn't have the same weight today that Steve McQueen had back in his day. Most movies and car chases of today even if they are really good, seem to be more of a flavour of the month because they were done before. Kind of like Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon, are there better martial arts fight scenes since that movie came out, yes, but none may be more iconic because when he did it, how iconic he became and how there had never been anything like it before. Will people talk about Gone in 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage after almost 60 yrs?
Sorry, but I couldn’t disagree more. The Bullitt Mustang is classy and subtle. Eleanor was gaudy and brash. You’re right, unfortunately Bullitt doesn’t resonate with this generation. It’s slow paced and you have to pay attention to catch the details as the plot unfolds. It’s a classic film with one of the greatest car chase scenes of all time. Steve McQueen is a legend. Coming from nothing and forging a career as one of Hollywood’s most iconic action stars. Not to mention one Hell of a driver in his own right. The new Bullitt pays homage to that legacy. It’s too bad people today don’t take the time to understand that.
@@TheStraightPipes But you have to consider all movies during or around this time. Bullitt was way ahead of its time. And the iconic chase scene was all in 1 take, in the real streets on SF, with no visual FX, and none of it was sped up like most other movies in the 60s. Steve McQueen is a movie and action star legend. Sure, he quit in 1969, but a man who did all his own stunts, and was well known as one of the best actors of the time, reminds me of an action star today...
TheStraightPipes if you can’t grasp the nature of strong characters in 60’s movies, then you probably should just not talk about movies in general. Seriously, there are a LOT of people that consider Bullitt one of the original suspense crime dramas. Some of the scenes are just graphically brutal. Nick Cage? Jesus effing Christ, just stop

Love your videos and I’m about 60 years young. Do yourselves a big favor and do some research on Steve Mcqueen and his automotive exploits. He has owned some of the most relevant cars and motorcycles of all time. He was was also an accomplished car and motorcycle racer during his short life along with pilot and of course mega movie star. He was for many male and female, “cool”.
Put your tech down and watch the movie in full; the car chase is a thing of beauty. Gone in 60 seconds is another good car chase movie, but not as good as Bullitt. As far as it relates to current generation, meh, younger gen X and all of gen Y will have trouble relating to Bullitt, especially if you're not a car guy/gal. It should be noted the majority of people buying these cars are boomers or older gen x-ers anyways, so it still resonates with them. On the traction control thing, people need to learn how to drive; turn off the nannies, and hit a track day or two. If you can afford a mustang GT, you can afford track days. The chassis in this car is so much better than the high horsepower stuff I used to drive, not to mention tire technology has improved significantly; cars are real easy to drive today, and I'm not even that old.
What do you think of the Bullitt? Worth it over the Mustang GT?

Poor North Americans. On the Autobahn, one can go through all the gears with all the sound and all the fun legally. 🤓
It's only illegal if you get caught 😉
And yet in canada you can drive hundreds of miles without seing a city or civilization 😀
So jealous.
Yes, “legally”😉😉🤣👌🏾
oxcycontin right 😂, I reach top speed in my car everyday 😈
Nic Cage Gone in 60 is a junk movie compared to the original.
Real car accidents, live traffic. Recorded in 1 take.
Steve McQueen invented the Cool that Nic Cage attempts to occupy.
Yeah but Steve McQueen also died like 10 years before the majority audience of this channel was even born
Plus steve mqueen owned a jaguar xkss and porsche 917... among others
All those movies are garbage.
@@ahhh6201 What's that got to do with anything. I was born after Bullitt. Damn good movie. That's like saying people born after the original Star Wars wouldn't care for it.
Seth K Johnson q
I road in my buddies bullitt today and high up in the rpms it feels like your floating it’s amazing
Guys, there are movies that you have to watch, even if they didn't age all that well. They're classics, they remind us where we came from. Also, Yuri, if Steve doesn't do it for you, then my friend, I just don't... J/k I'm not really surprised, but I think you should read a bit on the guy before you have an opinion. He didn't become a generational icon by sucking lol.
The real question is Steve McQueen or Paul Newman.
Well what do you expect from this generation. They watch nothing but crap on tv and cell phones. They wouldn't know what a good movie or good actor is if it him on the head. It's a sad state of affairs.
They should really watch older movies and actors such as Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, James Caan and so many others.
how is it that I'm only 16 and I still love the simplicity of older movies/tv shows and appreciate how iconic bullitt is and what it did for the car world.
Saw one yesterday, it actually looks great, and that green is absolutely stunning!
Would you say this is a hard car to learn manual? I’m literally in the same boat rn debating between Mustang gt bullet or mach1
I was able to see the 2019 Bullitt in person last June at the ford headquarters just sitting in an employee lot, felt really cool because it was just before all the press releases came out.
Yuri is right. From the time i saw this review i was like hey, thats Matt's car
Renaldo Bryan same!!
THANK GOD YOU GUYS ARE BACK! Last video was very underwhelming in terms of your energy, excitement, enthusiasm
You rely on them to feel good in order for you to feel good?
@@bcuz8998 bruhh shut up man
@@bcuz8998 I am watching their videos soo I want the best and they are the best soo I dont expect anything less then that 😄
Are you kidding? The movie "Bullitt" starring Steve Mcqueen was a badass movie, mainly because of the car chase scenes filmed in San Francisco. Yeah, it was ahead of your time.
Seeing what music they put on the radio in the cars always makes me happy
“Nicholas Cage over Steve McQueen”
I weep for humanity
Steve Daire let face it there not true car guys
True but as far as the cars go I would have easily taken an Eleonor remake over the bullet one.
Man I was really looking forward to this review, but you guys didn't seem nearly as excited as I was expecting from you guys 😩
How's such a quality channel so underrated with only half a million subscribers.... top quality videos guys 👍✌
A car reviewer who has not seen Bullitt is like a hockey player who has not seen Slapshot. SACRELIGIOUS!!!
I’ve seen the youtube clips
@@TheStraightPipes Not good enough.
@@TheStraightPipes 😂😂😂
TheStraightPipes I’m trying to put this in terms my brothers to the North might understand... Watching the ESPN Sportscenter highlights of the Stanley Cup Finals is NOT the same as actually watching the entire Stanley Cup finals. 🤪
TheStraightPipes ...and your next assignment before doing another Challenger review is to watch Vanishing Point.
Biggest value to me was how stealth the car looks and the performance. The Bullitt is just a bonus. Oh and the sound!
Not a Mustang fan, or even those wheels, but that's the perfect rim to tire ratio. Hate all these massive saucer wheels with rubber band tires.
So right!
McQueen is still the king of cool. He once raced in a race with a broken foot he injured while riding a motorcycle. He raced cars. He raced bikes. He slayed the ladies. McQueen is my spirit guide.
Is Steve McQueen still relevant?
Answer even if he isn't he is awesome and this car is fucking awesome and wouldn't be here if if wasn't for Steve
I'm 30 years old grew up with old movies and I love watching anything from the 60s and back and Steve McQueen is an Ironic actor and the movie is a Classic! If they remake a car from an old movie then that definitely means something! I want this just because it's a Bullitt remake
, i need a reviewer who will appreciate what the car is and its a classic remake! The new generation and my generation is to spoiled, they don't appreciate classic like this! The car is fire 🔥 and close to the orginal and Better! Here for car not the commentary!
Note: MagneRide is NOT standard in the US market. It's a 1695 option but it's 100% worth it if it's similar to the Camaro SS one. Great stuff guys!
Standard in Canada 👍🏻
No brained for me. My dad was a mustang guy all his life. He had 2 mustangs that were track ready and raced them often. He owned the first 1969 mustang fast back made in Germany. The car was purchased brand new by someone in the service that was based there. He had it shipped back to the states when he returned home. My dad was the 3rd owner. The name Mustang is German and the first line of mustangs were built in Germany. Thanks for the review on the new Bullit. My dad would’ve loved too have seen it. He passed away 4 years ago. Thanks again. Have a phenomenal day!
I’m also the proud owned of a 2006 Mustang GT. 5 on the floor, 8 under the hood.
Ok but Bullitt is a minor masterpiece and you guys should definitely watch it in full.
Steve Mcqueen is and forever will be the king of cool!
Came back. The composer for 'Bullitt' was Lalo Schifrin.
I am younger than you guys and the name steve McQueen holds some weight to me🤷♂️
Nicolas Cage over Steve McQueen... The world has gone the dodo way.
Iñigo Zapata: Are you a Russian hitman
@@rubberbandmandestruction390 Nyet.
Yuri, Yuri, Yuri... I know you're young, and don't have the same frame of reference, but preferring Nicholas Cage over Steve Mc Queen screams "Lightweight".
Kham Alexandro Yeah, and they also only know Paul Newman as the guy that makes salad dressings.
Unless you’re talking about Raising Arizona Nick Cage. Now that’s classic.
Dont like the content ? Get the fuck out nobody is forcing you to watch
C'mon guys. You've never seen the original Bullit movie ?? Best car chase scene EVER !!
Exhaust sounds so deep, my room jiggles.
Well said!
grats on getting the sponsorship and I appreciate that it's car related!
As MCM would say, why does the back seat have a gooch?
I love StraightPipes. Yuri’s face when trying to send it? Oh man. Disappointment and then some
Bullitt was the best movie ever! And you HAVE to watch It
Sorry, but I couldn’t disagree more.
Bullitt Mustang something about it looks better than the Camaro.
Sight lines seem to be better.
The Camaro will be dead soon Mustang will live on
Sight lines are way better.
Americans would never ask if Steve McQueen is still relevant...... to date the best car chase seen ever, and McQueen is the epitome of cool.
🇺🇸👍💪🦅
Soooo low-key this is a hellcat review lol I love it
That bug is fearless. Even with all the hand movements it didn’t budge.
You ask if Steve McQueen is relevant. To guys my age and older....the answer is yes.
I was really excited for this review, since everyone hypes it up. But now I’m glad y’all set it straight!
You haven’t watched Bullitt?
Your comments are void, sorry that’s just how it works.
😎
I saw the clip on UA-cam
TheStraightPipes mmmm ok, your homework this week is to watch the entire movie, no skipping the boring bits 😎
Z Hud dude why so serious? Cmon mate I’m a massive McQueen fan but it’s not the end of the world if people don’t like him 🙏
Love the Matt Maran shoutout!
Looks like Hopper from Stranger Things “borrowed” Yuri’s shirt.

I just saw 2 UA-cam pages post reviews for the Subaru Outback 2020 today! I hope there's one coming from you guys soon. You 2 are my favorite car review channel :) I love the format, very entertaining
I’m still waiting for the car to shift in the beginning 😂
always love your videos straight pipes
Great vids, could you do a review on the 6th gen zl1 or zl1 1le, finish off the "muscle" car trifecta
Just a suggestion. Maybe when mentioning a sponsor, you could say if it excludes a region or if it's for a specific region. Would be a cool idea since no one ever does.
I could not make the choice between, The Mustang, Camaro or the Challenger.... I am starting to lean more Mustang.
great vide guys!! always love your contents!!
Was so stoked to see this at the auto show in Toronto! Someone jacked the cue ball shifter from the car tho... 🙄
Manufacturers remove them so that people don't jack them because people are savages
Absolutely loving the videos amazing content you guys are doing keep the good work up
Most millennial car review ever... and I'm a millennial. How do you prefer a 370z? A 10 year old underpowered and overpriced car? Dude... come on!
The 370Z is an actual sports car; it's old, but because of that, it's very direct and visceral. This car is just...it's fast, but it's not a sports car.
NeutralGenericUser you driven the bullit? I havent.
@@Jmab-rv7jc I have, he's right
Jmab 1210 I test drove it, definitely a big car, but handles pretty well with the magnaride and the power delivery and sound is right there. I can see how the 370z might be a more nimble car but I wouldn’t say I prefer it. But what the hell do I know? I drive a 260hp beemer.
McQueen did some intense motorcycle riding in "The Great Escape". (Which is also a great movie)
NICE guys as always. Not a ford or 'stang fan but Matt sure likes his.
Low key feel like they don't want to make videos together anymore. You guys make awesome content. #TheStraightPipes are in my top 5 car reviewers, For sure!
Steve McQueen will always be the king of cool!!! Like lots of other things, I feel sorry for the younger generations. We had the best bands, most engaging times to live in. Oh and we used up all the fun!!! Oh wait , I have to go bury my face into a smart phone 📱
For an old movie whats significant is the car chase is all ANALOG no cgi
Saw one of these the other day, the green is pretty amazing. Also love the debadged look, haven't driven one tho so idk if it actually feels better at the wheel
The Bullitt Mustang that was in Steve McQueen’s movie is now worth 4m usd. Saw it from Jay Leno’s review of Bullitt
When you guys watch the movie.. I'll be back to watch reviews, until then you are not car guys.
Watched it. Welcome back
We’re live-streaming ourselves watching on twitch right now
awesome video! I still miss the mustang badge
It sounds amazing

I’m 32 and the movie resonates with me. They are just ridiculous
