I don't know how I missed this video when it was first made available, but I watched it today. 😊 Great job, Dan, and great job, Josh, showing the Game Gear and repairs! It's always cool when we can get working, and use again, those things that remind us of our younger years. 😃
Great video Josh! Love seeing how these old game systems work.
Glad you enjoyed!
Very cool video Josh! I never played with the Sega system, but I love all of your Tech videos. Keep up the AWESOME job!!
Thank you!
Ooo can he fix my Game Gear! Ah, that old staple blowing in the cartridge😂gotta love it👍👍
Lol! He’s really great, and I was very thankful he fixed mine!!
Looking forward to seeing this ❤️
Pretty cool glimpse into all the inner workings of the game gear, I know I played many rounds of sonic spinball on mine!
Any plans for more on these? There's always the tv tuner that still works if you use the av input on it, or you could try your hand at some of the easier drop-in mods they have for these like the better sound Amp or the one that lets you use USB-C instead of the original adapter
Thanks for watching! I never had Sonic Spinball, but it sounds fun! I don’t have any more plans right now for Game Gear mods, but maybe another video on the system in the future. My goal with this was to get it returned to its original condition or as close as possible.
Way to go Dan! That’s cool it’s an older model but it still works! I liked seeing the pics of the inside of it too as you explained the parts so it was easier to know what the tech terms meant lol 😂 The games looked neat too! When you were talking about the screen being dim at the beginning, what did you mean by capacitors?
Hey Nikki! Thanks for watching. The Capacitors are the little pieces that looked like small batteries that he was replacing to get it to work. They manage the power on the main board to be sure every part get the right amount of power. Without them, the system won’t work correctly because there will either be too much or too little power. :-)
Awesome, thank you! 💕
