My wife went from 16 Limited to 21 Touring. First encounter heated steering wheel and vented perforated leather seats. NICE. It is much quieter, less typical Suubie engine noise and maybe ride is a little smoother. But it still could limit direct shock of large bumps better. I think I like the big screen gig, even tho I usually don’t gravitate towards "software" being ever more invasive and frustrating. The steering "center" worked great on 30 miles of interstate on a non-windy day, but not so great if fighting a wind. It feels safer if one is drowsy or wanting to gawk at something to the side or monkey with HVAC or stereo. Narcs on me quite often, but not an obnoxious beep. Swiveling headlights don’t seem much better than old one turned on one fog light for corners. The auto-dim surprised me how well it does not blind others. Sign reflections can unnecessarily dim it. Auto-stop and winter short trips will make keeping battery fully charged even more challenging. I greatly do not like engine stopping on its own and "shudder" restarting, in traffic. Fortunately a two soft-button touch disables it, I shall do that very often. "A" grade stereo sound, not A+. My prior 2011 Toyota Avalon is comparison standard for smoooooth comfort, A+ stereo and supreme hushed quiet interior, and 300 hp Lexus V6 awesome power !! Yet nigh 30 mpgs with light foot. One wheel drive and low to ground got me out of Avalon, I do miss it. But new Touring comes a long way towards better luxury feel/sound in a SUBARU aimed primarily at traction with excellent 8.7" clearance and world-class awesome AWD system. It’s getting to be best all around combo of all things. I like it a lot and hope it becomes mine as hand-me-down in ~8 years. Skipped the fun turbo, to save maybe 4 mpgs average and after those 8 years, less expensive thing to go wrong. But I note how excellent it is the turbo uses regular grade affordable fuel rather than premium. I’m surprised I even like the higher contrast Java dual toned interior color scheme. Now, in this state, if the annual license tab was like $250 would be nice. More like 5 bills. By time I get it, should be $100. Conclusion, it is definitely recommended, especially if you live around snow/hills.
Thank you thank you thank you. We just purchased our first Subaru and bought the Outback. All this stuff is new to us and need to LEARN the features making it our car and maximize the features. Just subscribed and will eat up any recommendations
Also Portrait mode for Car play really sold the display now.. have to test with AA now as i have both phones.. Also can you go over the optional features that you can get on a top trim touring XT like the remote start, footwell illumination, wireless charger etc.
With the recent software/firmware updates to the 2020 Outback, does the 2020 also get the rear seat reminder and passenger seatbelt notification since it’s via the software? Asking because I’m in the market for a new Outback and with COVID, my local dealer is desperate to sell their 2020 models as the ‘21s arrive on the lot. They are going as far as putting $10,000 cash on the hood if I get a ‘20 Outback Touring XT instead of a ‘21.
That’s wild! I don’t think that those two features are available via software. I would assume there is some kind of physical sensor needed for them to work... however IMO those two minor features aren’t worth passing up an amazing deal on a 2020!
@@MetzTech I don’t think the seat belt notification system is software because in your video it shows as digital icons to the right of the screen above the passenger air bag warning, but I saw the rear seat reminder is toggled on or off via the software and since it shows up on the screen/gauge cluster it seems the latest software update may have that. If you could check it would be much appreciated. Either way I’ll likely go for the ‘20 because it’s a pretty good deal and with zero percent financing through Subaru and a bunch of accessories being thrown in, 32k for a fully loaded Outback Touring XT is pretty good deal. I appreciate your help.
I just got me one. I got the autumn green metallic color. I love it. I’m Colorado so I need this snow monster. Iv owned like 20 diff new and used cars. With wife and 3 children. Hands down. This car is my fav. I had a 1998 to. That little sucka was bad to the bone. These new ones are much bigger. I LOVE MY SUBARU
Can you add the front camera to a car that doesn't have one? On some older Subarus that didn't have a backup camera, if you added one, the Fujitsuten headunit would recognize it and use it seamlessly.
Question: I'm currently looking at the 2021 Onxy Edition XT. It will have wireless charging for my iPhone 12. Will Apple CarPlay also connect wirelessly or is that still going to require an iPhone cable connection? If so, are there USB slots even though there is wireless charging? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Where do you think they go from here? I am on the fence about buying a 2021 or waiting to see if 2022 brings any substantial changes... XT all the way though!
Subaru works on a 5 year refresh cycle... getting a full refresh on the 6th.... so we are only 2 years into the 5. 2022 will be “very similar to 2021”. You could wait till 2023 and there will be an “exterior refresh and interior revision”. However, if you are on the fence between ‘21 and ‘22... you could pull the trigger because it won’t be significant enough to be worth waiting.
You seem quite knowledgeable so I’d like to ask you a question. Is it possible to automatically have the seat retract when I shut off my 2022 Outback Limited so I can egress more easily? Thanks, KB
It wont retract when you shut off. However, you can have it retract while entering. Here is where you turn it on/off. Settings > Car > Driver Monitoring System > Auto Retract on Entry
Heya can you assist, I bought an outback wilderness and noticed it only displays on the top half of the screen, you mentioned portrait mode, is that only Apple or can an update etc get the android auto full screen?
Currently, the phone has to be plugged in. I wouldn’t be surprised if wireless CarPlay made its way to Subaru soon. It’s available on other brands I work with
Hey i have a question. How much of screen does your apple carplay take ? I have ordered my touring xt too but no one shows if the apple carplay will be half screen or full screen like 2020s latest update

Great video sir. Also, the 2021 Outback shows all four tire pressures actively at a glance on display screen, as one scrolls through, very good !!
Thank you for nice review , I've just bought it today and There are many new features to learn for me.
More outback videos!
Great VID!
Just got my 2021 Subaru Outback limited. Love this thing. Third Subaru :)
Congrats!🎉 just traded my Crosstrek lease in 😢
Loved your work !! Go big !!! Good luck !!
I love Subaru !!
Thanks so much!
Good review. Would like to see a complete comparison with the 2021 Forrester, including all the features.
We are just now getting them, so I’ll have a video on it’s tech in the near future! Thanks for watching, Jim!
We're probably going to buy one of the two, so we'd appreciate as detailed a comparison as possible. P.S. Love the safety features.
I’ll definitely be covering this over on Bachman’s channel!
Subaru is so frustrating. Love the forester, but the outback has so much more. What to do ?
I'm so thankful I came across this video, I'm trying to figure out which Subaru is best for me. My son and his family moved to Louisville a year ago.
Its funny how a 600 subs channel has the video quality of a 10 mil channel, i love your videos and i hope that you will get more popular soon
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you watching!
Mad production skills, helped by the fact that it's his daily job.
❤️

I guess potentially if you used a third-party head unit. However I don’t think you can with the built in Star-link system

@@MetzTech Thanks. I’m curious to see what that Wilderness Edition is that was leaked from an image a few months ago on torque news.
Man, I’m so jealous, only have old generation outback in my place
I'm still going for cars tech or whatever I said I in your other video but great review
Thank you! I kinda like Carz Tech too 😆
Great review. Do you have a full review of the 2021 Outback? I couldn't find it under the auto group. A link would be good if you have one.
Thanks, Jim!
I do...right here: ua-cam.com/video/a0M356THeC4/v-deo.html
Can’t wait to get the new platform Outback in Australia next month 👌
You seem quite knowledgeable so I’d like to ask you a question.

how does android auto look on this for us green bubble folks?
I have never had an android so I’m not entirely sure. I’ll look into this!
does the navigation have to be updated at the dealership ?
It doesn’t have to be. You can update it manually wherever
Heya can you assist, I bought an outback wilderness and noticed it only displays on the top half of the screen, you mentioned portrait mode, is that only Apple or can an update etc get the android auto full screen?
So you’re using AA and it’s only taking up part of the screen?
@@MetzTech yeap the bottom half is just the radio screen portion when android auto is in use.
Weird, yeah they must just be slacking on UI scaling for AA . That’s a bummer. Knowing google it’ll be fixed ASAP
Does the apple car play work if you just set iPhone on wireless charger in the outback or do you have to plug the iPhone in?
Currently, the phone has to be plugged in. I wouldn’t be surprised if wireless CarPlay made its way to Subaru soon. It’s available on other brands I work with
Will it work with the wireless charger on the outback?
Will they be in conjunction with the wireless charger?
What brand is that you work with that has wireless CarPlay?
Chevy, Hyundai, CDJR, VW.
Hey i have a question. How much of screen does your apple carplay take ? I have ordered my touring xt too but no one shows if the apple carplay will be half screen or full screen like 2020s latest update
With the update it takes up about 8-9” of screen space edge to edge. Before the update it was only about 6”
Sweet man if you are programmed into the driver focus and you shut the car off does the seat move back automatically?
Not from my experience. They would call that “Easy exit” or something like that. I don’t think it has it
Thanks I am buying a 2021 limited in January
Will it be your first Subaru?
Yes it will be my first Subaru. trying to decide between 2021 premium with sunroof or limited with sunroof.
The reason I want a limited or premium is I want the red I love that color.
OMG how cool is this.
🥳🥳🔥
Can you turn off the driver focused system?
Yes, I think so
I have a 2018 Outback Limited. Do you see a big difference in ride with the 2021? I am thinking of trading mine in for a new one.
My wife has a 2016 limited and I just bought a 2021 XT limited two days ago. It is quite a bit quieter and a lot smoother ride in my opinion.
The front facing camera record and keep the data, available for authorities access huge breach of privacy.
I don’t think that is a thing. I’ve never heard of anything like that
@@MetzTech have a search on the internet
😭
Will it give u a happy ending too, it does everything else?🤣
May be a dealer add-on 🤣
Ignore that second I in my sentence 😂
