Diana, I finally had time to sit with my camera and go through all the settings! You have no idea how helpful this was I have watched MANY videos now of the Canon M50 I appreciate the detailed and slow explanations with the specific timeline so I can go back again and again. I hope I can record my first how-to video on the Canon M50! Thank you
So after a wedding I am shooting this week I am buying an M50. I am starting a separate channel which I will be in front of the camera more and want to graduate from my phone to the mirrorless. I wanted some more info and I thought, "Who would have good videos on the M50? duhhh...Diana!" Kinda helped I was listening to you on the drive in to work! Thanks, Diana!
Lol 😂 Lots of videos on the M50 for sure. That’s awesome to hear you’re starting a new channel! I will say if you want an M50 just make sure it’s at least the M50 Mark 2. Same price brand new, just the updated firmware so you have a bit more features.
Excellent tutorial! Well explained, to the point, and very detailed. Thank you! You provided a lot of material here 35 minutes! Way more information than other videos going for 1 hour or longer, simply because you were so to the point. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that because a lot of other videos talk to much about unrelated stuff and don't say nearly as much as you did about why we the viewers stopped to watch! I wish there were more tutorials on HOW TO MAKE A VIDEO for those other professionals that talk to much but say nothing lol. Definitely going to subscribe to your channel!
Awesome video. I already knew most of the info collected from different videos and sites. But this is the first video I've seen that is a one-stop-shop with all the relevant info. Keep it up.
This video was wonderful! I just purchased a M50 after getting the Rebel 7T, I just gave that one to my daughter--- what a difference. Thank you so much, this tutorial was easy to follow especially being a visual learner.
Wow what a gift! I’m sure she was very happy to receive that! I remember my Mom getting me my first cream camera, it was awesome! I’m glad the video was helpful for you! 😊
Thank you for walking me through the "forest". This is the absolute best "hold your hand" tutorial video on the Canon M50. Clear, basic, simple, and high-level instruction ALL IN ONE. Definitely connecting online. Now to learn what's wrong with my HDMI connection using the Canon webcam utility. It's not working on my PC since I purchased the Elgato CamLink.
Extremely valuable content as always, thank you so much! I'm re-watching with cam in hand, connecting to laptop, then stepping out to go live before sunrise! 🔥
Wow! Canon should hire you to do their user video for this camera. Thank you for producing a great video with clear action steps to improving video quality. I am going to try some of these new tips this weekend as I try to record in more diverse settings.
Just watched every second of this video. Thanks for taking the time to go through each feature. Best tutorial so far that I've found. I can't wait to get this in the mail and take my channel to the next level to also give youtube tips. Thanks!

Awesome video Diana, very clear, very comprehensive and very needed as had been struggling with blurry video from my M50, and also a great reminder for me to dig my kajabi hero t-shirt out of the cupboard!
Thank you Diana for your detailed tutorial. I just subscribed to your channel and set up my new Canon eos M50 following along with you. I have so much to learn as a newbie. I love your vocal clarity. I will definitely watch more of your video soon. Much Joy and Abundance. May this New year be greater than the last for you Diana.
You're the best! I've had mine for 1 year and 4 months and love it. It has it's squirks but what camera doesn't ? Rhetorical... hehe. One thing I point out which is very small but the little door to the USB is stiff when it's new and it may seem like it will not open. Just pull on it with a tweezer or something. I nearly thought I was crazy because it would not open. My little two cents. You did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
@@DianaGladney It's good now. Before I met you I messaged so many people on UA-cam asking how to open it. LOL I've had plenty of cameras for decades and this is the first to give me a hard time. LOL
That's interesting, I guess not all are made quiet the same. And it's likely they could have later changed the door on the camera. Mine is a rubber door that's flexible and the hinges are flexible. The microphone door cover is a hard plastic and a little rubber plug. Are yours the same way or did they change it?
Thank you so so much for this video you have helped me get the idea and configure my M50, also if i want come back to this video for more information. Thanks again!
Hey Diana, Thank you so much! This video is so great that I wish I found it yesterday because I've been trial and erroring and this would've saved me time. One Q I have is about file size. I just took my first 30 min video and the file size is 13GB which is absolutely massive, and when I go to open it on my laptop, my QuickTime Player basically crashes because of the file size! This seems to be a super popular UA-cam camera and people are definitely recording for more than 30 mins, so trying to find a workaround! I tried compressing it but QuickTime won't let me compress an unopen file
So, that's actually a relatively small file size for video. There's a lot that goes into producing the file size like the video resolution, frame rate, bit rates, stuff like that. So, all things considered, that's actually pretty small but average for most entry-level mirrorless cameras. There's really no workaround for that. It sounds like you might be running into the issue where it may be time to consider a computer upgrade. When you switch from daily tasks of web browsing and email communications, just about any computer will be fine. However, when you transition into creating video content, it tends to require a bit more powerful computer. Depending on the kind of computer you have, it may be as simple as a small update at a local tech shop or it may require a new computer, it just depends. I had to do the same thing when I first transitioned into creating videos and working with video files, my poor old computer would virtually pass out lol
@@DianaGladney Hey Diana, I actually figured out my external hardd rive was faulty since the macOS upgrade. I made it compatible! Thanks for your response a lot.
Thankyou! I've been using auto as I have skylights in my studio, with the sun and clouds changing the light during my hour-long videos. Do you have any advice for this? Also, can these settings remain the same when you change to photo mode? Can I leave the camera in photo mode while I'm recording video? Which one should I be in after having set up these personal settings? Thanks.
My pleasure Shirley!! ☺️ I would still light the area so you have consistent lighting despite the natural light. You can still record while in the photo setting but I wouldn't suggest it. If you're in video mode, your last settings are saved. So, if you're switching to take photos, you don't have to worry about what you had set on your camera previously that worked for you. But recording in photo isn't bad or going to "mess up" your videos or anything.
Diana Gladney - EntreWoman TV Thankyou! That is something new for me. I will definitely use the video mode, and I’ll get independent lighting set up. xx
M50 part 2 set to release next month. Dedicated for the live stream. I decided to wait on this one. That with the sigma 1.4 16mm should about do it as for as the great livestream. You have any thoughts or have heard any news?
I don't think anything about it honestly. I have been using Sony since 2019 now and I'm not making any additional Canon content like that on the channel because the cameras have been so lackluster in features to fit modern use cases. I've compared it as I've been asked about it enough to warrant a dedicated video about it but I won't be focusing on Canon cameras any longer.
@@DianaGladney I wasnt asking you to change cameras or make a video about it, just your opinion and a comment. I tend to use comment as a creation tool for more content but enjoy.
Hey there Jax! You have a couple options. Auto usually does a great job in most situations but if you're using LED lights, those lights will be set at a certain number called Kelvins and whatever that number is set to you can set that in your camera. So, for example, if your LED lights are set to 5500 Kelvins, you can go in your camera and set it to 5500 Kelvins and that way your lights and camera are set the same.
Interesting channel you got! Appreciate all the informative vids! My channel is pokemon go content and I've been wanting to do live stream. I was wondering how to add an overlay from my phone (live) with my Canon m6 (same as m50). Keep up the youtube grind !
Thank you so much! 😊 Hmmm interesting question. I think that is going to be more software specific than camera specific. Something like a Streamlabs OBS or the regular O.B.S. (Open Broadcast Software) would probably work linking everything together. I watch a lot of gaming channels actually so I’m sure it’s possible but it’s going to be a more complex setup I think. I’d check out the channel EposVox. He streams, games and uses OBS and has some tutorials. I would start searching his channel, he might have the specifics for something like that.
Thanks Diana, You're tutorial helped me setting up my M50. I am using a sigma 16mm lens, but I am not sure what type of microphone to use. What has worked for you with audio recording equipment?
I’ve used a lot of different types of microphones depending on the use case. Some a podcast style microphone, others a lapel, and some a shotgun microphone, it depends on the scenario. What type of videos are you making?
Thank you Caroline, I'm glad this video was helpful for you! You will want to make sure you set up your camera and optimize it for video in the settings. (Also, in the Canon M50 playlist on this channel.) Beyond that if you have the correct settings enabled, you shouldn't have issues with the autofocus. If you are, I'd suggest making sure the settings are correct. The Dual Pixel autofocus is very reliable.
Is the cheat sheet for the settings still available? I think you mentioned it in this video. I know you’ve moved on to the Sony😁, I just got an M50 (got tired of waiting for the II) and trying to learn the livestream set up. Thanks!
Hi Diana! So glad to have found your channel. Thank you so much for your amazing content! Do you have any ideas on how to reduce or completely eliminate white noise when connecting an external microphone such as the Rode Wireless Go to the Canon M50?
If you're getting noise, significant noise, when connecting to your camera for video. I would run some tests. Just test a lapel directly into the camera and one with the Rode Wireless Go's. When testing the audio, I would make sure you're keeping the cameras internal preamps as low as possible and the Medium high type setting for the audio on the Rode Wireless Go's should be good. I don't recall having any really bad audio when I used to the use the M50 but test you cables or replace them and see if that helps as well.
Sister you rock. im going to try to do a fb live with obs & my M50. Will it 'stop' at min 29? I haven't tested but assumed i will have to just refresh folks back into my fb group. No? Thanks for taking of your time, very valuable information (smile).
Thank you so much! 😊 I appreciate that. The camera will always stop recording internally at 30 minutes. There are ways to get around that a bit using software and a streaming setup but you're locked into being connected and attached to a computer.
Wow your just keeping it rocking it out of the ball park. Quick one for you , can you elaborate on using Kelvin please. Should i dial in 5600 as that’s the Kelvin on my Godox 60 both on my camera and lights ? What is the difference going this route vs Auto WB or Custom ? Thank you much.
The temperature of the light will effect how warm or cool the lighting looks and that can affect your skin tones. However, your white balance is to ensure the most accurate color representation so that whites look white vs yellowish for example. So, the Kelvins is in short the number that will tell you if something is warmer or cooler. I converted that in a previous how to video about dialing in your look. You can set the Kelvins to match in your camera and that can get you closer to matching the white balance but if you don’t have a gray card, I would highly suggest getting one and setting the white balance. It’s multiple ways to get the white balance dialed in a custom white balance is easiest though in my opinion to get more accurate colors.
Diana Gladney - EntreWoman TV again thank you for taking the time to responde!!!! I will look for that video on your channel talking about Kelvin. Gracias !!!!
I'm sorry Diana, but I've been spending a few hours looking for your video which talks about Kelvin you made,, could you please direct me to it. Gracias :)
There are entire playlists on how to live stream or perform specific actions for the M50, please see the "Playlists" tab on the channel or use the channel search bar. There are over 60 tutorials on the M50 here on the channel.
Diana i love your work and yoour channel; im starting a streaming channel on Mixer, and i get a m50 cause you used it, can you give some advise of what video setting should i use if i stream and night with some RGB lights and the background...thx alot ! keep the good job!
Hey there Doctor Yisus, thanks so much for the comments. There's actually no specific settings I can give you in a comment to help you with that. However, I previous did a video answering that question and breaking down how to get the look you're wanting for video in a previous video. I would suggest taking some time to watch that video and go through those steps and you can then dial in your own look: ua-cam.com/video/lBBKyenhock/v-deo.html
Amazing video. Plz create a video on "The best settings for whiteboard teaching" So that both the words written on whiteboard & the teacher look sharp, crispy & bright. Plz.. Plz...Plz....
@@DianaGladney Thank you so much for such a quick response.! 😊😊🥰 There is no such video on UA-cam like this...in which someone has told in detail that how one should create a video teaching on whiteboard by using Canon M50. So, please you create such a video and also tell in the video that which lens should be bought to attach to canon M50 to get the best quality for whiteboard teaching so that words written & teacher look sharp, crispy & bright. I loved your video Mam. Now only you are my hope. I am a good teacher. But I don't know how to create nice whiteboard - teaching videos. 😔
@@DianaGladney Mam I did it with 5 led bulbs of 40 watts organised in a proper way. But what happens is if I look good, then my words written on the board lose sharpness & crispiness. And if I decrease Aperture or increase ISO, words look sharp & crispiy, but I don't look good, sharp & crispy. I wish I had a nice person like you to solve my problem.!
Hi Diana, do you know if the Sony a58 has clean hdmi out for streaming? I watched your video on FB about cameras and leaving my cannon brand loyalty as they don't offer a simple solution for my 80D. Must I go to an A7, or can I start off with the A58 and later move to the A7?. Thanks
Not sure if you mean another camera or the actual older Sony a58 DSLR camera. If you’re trying to decide on what camera you should get, I would suggest listing out all the features you want and need in a camera for the type of content you’re wanting to create. Without having some idea of what features you need and the type of content you plan to create, I can’t make any recommendations.
@@DianaGladney Thank you so much. I am wanting to stream live in HD directly into Ecamm Live. I will be streaming live from my desk and currently I use my cannot 80D using a work around offered by cannon but the quality is not even 1080 P. Does this help?
Okay gotcha. If you’re already using Ecamm Live, you don’t need to do any workarounds you get a 1080p HD live stream. Ecamm Live already has natively built into the stream the ability to connect the camera via USB and not need any workarounds for full 1080p quality. If you want clean HDMI out, you’re looking at a different camera than the 80D because many of the Canon cameras don’t have Clean HDMI out. If you want to stick with Canon, the only models that have Clean HDMI out is the M6 Mark 2, SL3, R & RP models and their higher end R5 and R6. They all have some limitations video recording wise but have clean HDMI out. If you’re wanting a Sony camera with Clean HDMI, I wouldn’t suggest any of their old DSLR cameras but any of the mirrorless cameras from the a5100 up to their recently announced cameras have clean HDMI out. I wouldn’t suggest starting with anything less than Sony’s basic model, the Sony a6100. It’s has clean HDMI out, still can be connected via USB using Ecamm, can record up to 4k 30fps and has unlimited recording in 1080p or 4k and has a dedicated AC adapter. If you need more, I’d suggest listing what features are most important to you and buy accordingly.
Hi Diana - thank you for this video! One question - how can I remove the auto focus box from displaying on my livestream? I frequently need to place items close to the camera for a closeup - hoping the solution isn't to switch to manual focus. Thanks so much!
My pleasure!! I would honest suggest not connecting to the camera via HDMI since it doesn't have clean HDMI out. You can use Canon's webcam software and live stream and maintain autofocus that way. OR if you're a mac user and want an all in one live stream, recording and natively built-in Canon live stream feature and you can keep autofocus, I would highly suggest using Ecamm Live. Beyond that, if you just want to use HDMI out, you will need to switch the camera from Autofocus to Manual Focus and actually turn the lens to self focus on yourself.
hey hey ! very cool videos, its already 4th I watch on your channel 👌☺️☺️ I have a question: I reseted my settings, and the m50 was recording videos continuously splitting it in 4gb files, and now its gone, is it any setting or solver for this, thanks in advance 😊
Thank you! Glad the videos have been helpful. If your videos are getting broken up into 4GB files, you’ll want to get a better SD card. I’d highly recommend picking up the Sandisk Extreme memory cards. amzn.to/3rTcJqT
If you're live streaming a basketball game, chances are you have someone manning camera and panning back and forth. In that case, you might want a longer zoom lens so you can actually show the players and maybe zoom in for free throw shots. If you need a longer focal range than what the kit lens can provide, the EF-M 18-150mm is like a larger version with a longer focal length so you can go wide at 18mm and really zoom in. amzn.to/3pCX8sO
Hi! Diana, I want to know how to keep the screen of canon m50 active after connecting to Elgato camlink. In my case camera screen automatically black off after conection.🙏
There actually is no work around for that, that's a limitation that Canon added. So, you'd have to have your settings locked in before you plug that in, there's no way around it.
@@DianaGladney Thank you for the reply. is there way out to use external screen?? For now i connect with my phone on wifi. It work but that is not that reliable.
Unless you're hooked up to a computer and using something like Ecamm Live for the Canon M50 Mark 1, it's not the camera for that. You'd need at least the M50 Mark 2 with Clean HDMI out then you have some options: - Use a Computer and Stream via HDMI Out and some HDMI Wireless Setups - If you have something like the Sony Xperia phone you can use the HDMI port on it and stream using the 5G wireless connection - Use something like the Yolobox Pro
Hi Diana - I just shot my first videos with the Canon M50 using the settings you recommend (SO HELPFUL!). I want that depth of focus...where the background is blurred out. I thought it was all good, but I am blurry as well. I am guessing? this is because the camera is unable to keep me in focus when I start the video and then move back into position. I always did that with my phone and it seemed to adjust, but I don't think the camera is making that same adjustment. Any suggestions?
P.S. I wonder if it could also be a file transfer issue--or not exporting it best quality. I was using phone/and Adobe premier, but trying to simplify my life, I switched Canon/iMovie. Maybe I'm losing clarity somewhere after camera. (Or I need new glasses...always an option.)
@@DianaGladney Thank you for responding. I have the 15-45mm lens and filming 1920x1080 29.97 fps. But I think I just realized that I'm too close to the background...or I should say, not enough space between me and the blurry background.
So, a blurry background is based on the lens, not the camera. A kit lens that traditionally comes with the camera is not going to give you a blurry background. You would have to be outside in a park to have any level of depth in the background to be somewhat blurry. Something like the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens will give you the blurry background look that you're hoping to get. You'd want to look for a lens for your camera that has an Aperture or f-stop, that is f2.0 or lower to get a blurry background.

Dear I am a teacher and wanna buy M50 to record my video lessons. The setup is like I just want to cover I mean the table, the paper on which I am writing and my hand. So which lens should I use.
If you're doing table top videos where the camera is mostly pointed at you or top down and pointing at the table to illustrate something, the kit lens will work just fine. If you're trying to get a blurry background or something, you can go with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 (EF-M) lens or the Canon EF-M 22mm f2.0 lens. Either of those are great to start with and are nice and sharp. If you're recording your lessons and you're okay to record every 30 minutes, then you should be fine. I'd recommend picking up an extra battery or a power adapter and you're good to go.
@@DianaGladney thanx dear... One more question, Is (Canon M50) + the kit lens package also suitable for going live on youtube or Facebook. secondly, I am confused between Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Camera and Canon M50. please guide me on which should I buy for my setup ( - For tabletop shots or overhead shots from home - For going live on youtube or Facebook ) I am confused because someone has said to me that Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Camera is lightweight and you can easily adjust that on a tripod. @@lqs_esl I never used the flash on the camera and it's not something that stays on as you're filming videos. However, if you wanted to use your phone's light or led video light, you could.
For the latest version of the Canon M50 1 you'll have to check with Canon's website. As for this video, I don't recall as it's been a couple years since doing this video.
Yeah, I didn’t go into specifics in certain things. The goal with the audio settings is not have the camera making changes to the audio and manually setting it so the audio is consistent. The cameras manual or a quick Google search will often provide a better explanation if someone wants to go deeper on what a specific setting does and when you might want to enable it.

Settings You Shouldn't Have to Change Often:
~ 29.97fps (30fps) for the Frame Rate
~ 1/60 for the Shutter Speed (
Setting to Check & Adjust for Before Recording & Live Streaming:
~ Set a Custom White Balance (Use a Gray Card: amzn.to/3cgcoF9)
~ Set Your ISO (If outdoors or near a window, start at 100-200 ISO. If indoors with lighting, start at 250 and increase or decrease until it's bright enough or properly exposed for you.)
Concise, concentrated, very useful. Great job.
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful!
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much for putting this together!

Awesome video Diana, very clear, very comprehensive and very needed as had been struggling with blurry video from my M50, and also a great reminder for me to dig my kajabi hero t-shirt out of the cupboard!
Thank you 😊 Glad the video was helpful for you!

You're very welcome Darrell. I'm glad the video was helpful for you!
Thank you so much! this video was thorough love how you went through each setting and explained each button function new follower 😊

That’s interesting, the two m50s I’ve had it was easy to open. I wonder what’s up with that.
We love your video on Canon M50 thank you so much for making this video💯♥️😁
I'm glad they were helpful!
Thank you so so much for this video you have helped me get the idea and configure my M50, also if i want come back to this video for more information.

@@internetcultured Wonderful! Glad it was a simple fix! Those Mac updates can be messy sometimes sheesh lol
You are great at teaching.
Thank you!
I will definitely use the video mode, and I’ll get independent lighting set up. xx
This video was sooo helpful! Thank you sooo much!!

Omg Thank You soooo much! I was so confused before.

I answered your question when I said I don't think anything about and I shared my opinion. Guess you missed that.
Awesome tips. Thank you.
My pleasure!! 😊
Hi Diana, fantastic video! Thank you so much. What should I use in the absence of a gray card to set the white balance?
Hey there Jax! You have a couple options. Auto usually does a great job in most situations but if you're using LED lights, those lights will be set at a certain number called Kelvins and whatever that number is set to you can set that in your camera.
So, for example, if your LED lights are set to 5500 Kelvins, you can go in your camera and set it to 5500 Kelvins and that way your lights and camera are set the same.
@@DianaGladney Thank youuu!
Interesting channel you got! Appreciate all the informative vids! My channel is pokemon go content and I've been wanting to do live stream. I was wondering how to add an overlay from my phone (live) with my Canon m6 (same as m50).
Keep up the youtube grind !
Thank you so much! 😊
Hmmm interesting question.
Thanks Diana,
You're tutorial helped me setting up my M50.
What an excellent video. How do you get the video to focus on you like a selfie rather than a shooting across the room at a wall? Thank you so much!
Thank you Caroline, I'm glad this video was helpful for you!
You will want to make sure you set up your camera and optimize it for video in the settings. (Also, in the Canon M50 playlist on this channel.)
Beyond that if you have the correct settings enabled, you shouldn't have issues with the autofocus. If you are, I'd suggest making sure the settings are correct. The Dual Pixel autofocus is very reliable.
This was great. Thank you!
My pleasure!! 😊
Is the cheat sheet for the settings still available? I think you mentioned it in this video. I know you’ve moved on to the Sony😁, I just got an M50 (got tired of waiting for the II) and trying to learn the livestream set up. Thanks!
Great video! Thank you!

@@DianaGladney Thank you so much! I will definitely go ahead with the tests :)
Thank you SO very much!

Well explained video.
Glad it was helpful for you!
@@DianaGladney Hi, what software and streaming setup is this?
Thank you so much for this
My pleasure!! ☺️
Gracias :)

Thank you so much for such a quick response.! 😊😊🥰
There is no such video on UA-cam like this...in which someone has told in detail that how one should create a video teaching on whiteboard by using Canon M50.
You can use the kit lens to do it, it’s just about lighting yourself properly.
@@DianaGladney
Mam I did it with 5 led bulbs of 40 watts organised in a proper way.
@@DianaGladney This will be for a non zoom quality interview style webcast that I will be doing.
@@DianaGladney Amazing channel and my great subscription since I started using Ecamm.
@@DianaGladney This is so great. Thank you, thank you! I sincerely appreciate the time you put into these videos. They are helping me so much!

hey hey ! very cool videos, its already 4th I watch on your channel 👌☺️☺️
I have a question: I reseted my settings, and the m50 was recording videos continuously splitting it in 4gb files, and now its gone, is it any setting or solver for this, thanks in advance 😊
Thank you! Glad the videos have been helpful.
If your videos are getting broken up into 4GB files, you’ll want to get a better SD card.
I’d highly recommend picking up the Sandisk Extreme memory cards. amzn.to/3rTcJqT
what is the best lense for live streaming basketball games on the M50??
If you're live streaming a basketball game, chances are you have someone manning camera and panning back and forth. In that case, you might want a longer zoom lens so you can actually show the players and maybe zoom in for free throw shots. If you need a longer focal range than what the kit lens can provide, the EF-M 18-150mm is like a larger version with a longer focal length so you can go wide at 18mm and really zoom in. amzn.to/3pCX8sO

There actually is no work around for that, that's a limitation that Canon added. So, you'd have to have your settings locked in before you plug that in, there's no way around it.

What do I need to Livestream outside @ a football game ,using my iPad or phone
Unless you're hooked up to a computer and using something like Ecamm Live for the Canon M50 Mark 1, it's not the camera for that.
You'd need at least the M50 Mark 2 with Clean HDMI out then you have some options:
- Use a Computer and Stream via HDMI Out and some HDMI Wireless Setups
- If you have something like the Sony Xperia phone you can use the HDMI port on it and stream using the 5G wireless connection
- Use something like the Yolobox Pro

Hey there! What lens are you using with the camera? Also, are you recording in 1080p HD or in 4k?

Actually what I mean is I want to make table top video..
Kindly reply
If you're doing table top videos where the camera is mostly pointed at you or top down and pointing at the table to illustrate something, the kit lens will work just fine. If you're trying to get a blurry background or something, you can go with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 (EF-M) lens or the Canon EF-M 22mm f2.0 lens. Either of those are great to start with and are nice and sharp.
If you're recording your lessons and you're okay to record every 30 minutes, then you should be fine. I'd recommend picking up an extra battery or a power adapter and you're good to go.
