Taiwan first breakdancing Olympian Quake meets press｜Taiwan News

Taiwanese breakdancer Sun Chen, a.k.a. Quake, has returned to Taiwan after qualifying for the Olympics at a Budapest competition. The newly minted Olympian spoke to the press on Wednesday.

I’ve achieved a very long-term goal, so I’m thrilled. I feel very fulfilled and grounded. Actually I’ve had this goal since freshman year of college, the goal of making history somehow. Breakdancing at the Olympics will be about experiencing a page of history, experiencing the stage. Also, I’ll be going to Paris, so I can have some fun.

Getting to this point has been no easy feat. It’s like what he said earlier, he’s made history. We hope that when he competes in Paris, everyone in the dance world and Taiwan’s public will support him. I believe he’ll perform better than ever there.
Breakdancing will debut at the Olympics this year, and Quake is the first in Taiwan to qualify for the sport. On Wednesday, he revealed that he’ll embark for France at the end of July, to prepare for the August competition.
