- Kathleen opens the show drinking a Waterslides IPA from 3 Sheeps Brewing in Wisconsin, and a Skrewball peanut butter whiskey shot.
“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Lays Wavy Funyuns Onion flavored chips, which she thinks just taste like a “mild” sour cream-n-onion flavor. She moves on to taste Sir Kensington’s Pizza Ranch Dressing, which she likes but thinks is WAY too tangy, and then she finishes her tasting menu with Hellman’s Spicy Dipping Sauce, which she summarizes with an “umm, No.”
KATHLEEN’S QUEEN’S COURT: Kathleen provides an update on the Court, reporting that although it’s been a quiet week, Cher is commenting on the Twitter account @cherdoingthings.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on Facebook’s company name change, the duping of Betsy DeVos’s family by Elizabeth Holmes, the whereabouts of the missing zebras in Maryland, more bad news for supporters of Christopher Columbus, the release of a flying motorcycle in Japan, and South Dakota becomes a notable tax shelter.
CLASS ACTION POP-TARTS: Kathleen laughs as she reads an article advising that a class-action lawsuit has been filed by plaintiff Anita Harris claiming that Kellogg's advertising misleads consumers about the amount of actual fruit in the food, and that the presence of Red 40, a synthetic food dye, makes the product's filling "look bright red, like it has more strawberries than it does.” Kathleen agrees and applauds the current recipe, mostly because one of her fave foods is high-fructose corn syrup.
THE LEGEND OF POLAND’S SOLDIER BEAR: Kathleen is thrilled to share the story of Wojtek, a Syrian brown bear cub who was by Polish II Corps soldiers who had been evacuated from the Soviet Union and aided in fighting the Nazis. In order to provide for his rations and transportation, the was officially enlisted as a soldier with the rank of private, and was subsequently promoted to corporal. The story is being made into a documentary.
KRONKE ABANDONS NFL LAWSUIT: Kathleen isn’t surprised reading an article advising that LA Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke has reportedly angered other NFL team owners after informing them he no longer wants to pay legal fees associated with the Rams' move from St. Louis in 2016. Kroenke originally agreed to cover legal fees involved in the relocation, and those bills have stacked up as the NFL has lost multiple motions to the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex authority, who filed suit against the Rams and other teams alleging the Rams broke relocation guidelines.
EXTREME COUPON SCAM: Kathleen reads an article about a couple arrested by the FBI in Virginia Beach over their $31.8 million counterfeit coupon scheme. They have been handed a prison sentence for nearly 20 years, combined.
TO-GO COCKTAILS BY STATE: Kathleen loves a cocktail, especially one that she can wander with. She updates listeners on a study from the National Restaurant Association, reporting that about 26 states - most of the ones that permitted to-go cocktails during the pandemic - have opted to allow the practice to continue. Georgia and Texas, for example, made to-go cocktails permanent in Spring 2021, but New York has officially banned the option.
PANDORA PAPERS FOR DUMMIES: Kathleen reads an article outlining the structure of a new trove of 11.9 million documents, dubbed the Pandora Papers, that contain explosive details about how global elites and billionaires hide their assets. The Pandora Papers are the result of extensive research by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which expose 600 celebrities and world leaders who stalled their money - or had it done for them - in tax havens.
HOMESTEAD ACT - Kathleen has often commented that we need to redistribute resources in less popular American communities, so she’s excited to read an article detailing where efforts are being made to take advantage of the growing work-from-home culture to try to revitalize rural communities that are in decline. Financial and tax incentives to new residents are proving to benefit many towns seeking to reverse population loss and rejuvenate their economies.
MICHAEL JORDAN’S ROOKIE SHOES AUCTIONED: Kathleen reports that Michael Jordan’s Nike Air shoes worn during his rookie season have sold at auction for $1.47M.
JD SALINGER VOICE RECORDING BURNED: Kathleen reports that the only known recording of J.D. Salinger’s voice, created during a 1980 interview with the writer, has been burned.

Wore my black t-shirt at the Chicago show & I could tell people were looking at me wondering why they weren't for sale in the theater. I guess it's where I've gone to so many shows/concerts that I know people automatically look for them in obligatory black. Anyway, it was nice to stand out in a good way. 👍

On Tuesdays the Termites wear Kathleen merch! (That is a reference to the movie, Mean Girls, for those of you that are confused.) I do love the Black long-sleeve tee from last year. I think if you are considering a “gray”, perhaps a darker shade like Dark Heather would be nice, but Black is always best. Honestly, whatever merch you create, I will buy, ha!

It has happened!! My daughter who never wanted to listen to the pubcast because it just "wasnt" actually picked it out fir our evening commute!! Finally admitted that you're funny, topical and have a honest view of the world.
The reason there are inheritance/estate laws in No. Dakota is because those ranches and farms are mighty rich in land. If the tax was high, farmers and ranchers would lose their land in 1 or 2 generations

It's all about presentation to get rid of your broken WaveRunner . you can sell it on eBay for $10 and put pick up only no trailer included and someone will come get it it's how I got rid of old couches for years. I would tell them to put the $10 underneath the doormat and sofa went out on the front porch.

I did Amway with my late husband when we were engaged for a hot minute. It was terrible! The "motivational" tapes were soooo extreme right wing and all the meetings ended with praying. Like not just a blessing kind of thing. I remember opening my eyes and looking around while everyone was praying thinking "Is this a business or religion?" Some of the products were good but not worth being in a cult for.

All us chubby termites can get boosted anytime. So I'm boosted. And I'm a booster for Steeleville, Missouri. There's a lot of support for the arts and artists there. From personal experience, Kansas is a nice place to be from. There is a lot of subtle beauty and wildlife still. When people say the U.S. is getting too crowded, I always point out Kansas has a lot of capacity to take on more people, especially in the small and mid-sized towns, just to get back to 'the good old days'. Towns have been giving out cash and houses for years, even in the state capitol. Good luck, Kansas.

Amway is still out there!! A coworker conned me into going to a few meetings before they actually said it was for Amway...they try to be sly and wait to say what it actually is 🤣The group meetings were super weird and borderline creepy but I had to find out what it was!
One of my toddler pictures was me using an Amway box to help me stand up. My parents did it way back then taught me to stay away from pyramid schemes. Lol
I would be very happy to move out to less populous areas if I had a work from home option-and a tax incentive would seal the deal. The idea of living in an area with breathing space and the hope of some quiet is becoming more and more appealing to me.

The Tulsa Remote program is doing just this! They give $10k to remote workers to live in Tulsa, OK for a year. Or $10k to buy a home. Great program with great people. Not federal or state funded though.
In Texas...snake vipers, (cobra) coral snakes live everywhere...you get used to them at your back door. So Grandberry cobra fits right in...it is busy eating other snakes...The other day i saw two snakes disappear on my front porch into the siding of my house....I am thinking they will keep out the mice.....LOL

I think these last t-shirts (white) are a tad see thru. I think green or gray would be nice! I love the black one but, I don't wear it much with long sleeves in Arizona.
I grew up with Duke’s mayo. Everything else tastes fake. You should try it. Especially great with chicken salad!
