“GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Wendy’s Frosty Cereal which she thinks tastes just like (but isn’t as good as) Cocoa Puffs. She moves on to try Louisiana’s Blue Plate “Real” Mayonnaise, and then finishes her tasting menu with Tessemae’s Buffalo Ranch Dressing, which she reacts to by yelling out “too much going on there!”
QUEEN’S COURT: Kathleen is excited to report that Queen Stevie has recommended watching the animated movie “Storks” to relieve all depression and anxiety, which makes Kathleen laugh out loud and she’s added it to her watch list.
UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on Britney Spears’ new book, missing Malaysian Flight 370, further excavations continue to provide historical insight in Pompeii, and American Airlines’ pilots report another close encounter with a UFO to the FBI.
“HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of a Roman-era mosaic floor in South London, thought to be at least 1,800 years old, and an exceedingly rare fossil of a giant flying reptile was recently found on a Scottish island.
KMART’S FINAL BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL: Kathleen reads an article announcing that decades after Kmart was a household staple for home shopping, the chain has shrunk to only four stores still operating in the US. The announcement comes after years of the discount retail chain failing to keep up with the popularity of Walmart and Target, with experts saying the chain failed to modernize with new technology and consumer demands. Kathleen laughs when she reminisces how excited she would get when their iconic “Blue Light Special” would come on in the store.
CHESS’S NEW GRAND MASTER RISES: Kathleen loves a martini and chess night and is excited to read that a new Grand Master has been named in the Chess world. 16-year-old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, or “Pragg” as he is commonly known, is now the youngest chess player ever to defeat Magnus Carlsen in his long reign as world champion in a game that included 39 moves.
A 500LB MISTAKEN IDENTITY: Kathleen reads an article out of Lake Tahoe, laughing that a 500-lb bear who locals refer to as “Hank The Tank” and has been blamed for breaking and entering more than two dozen homes in California’s Lake Tahoe area, is no longer the sole suspect. DNA evidence gathered by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife suggests several bears may have been responsible for the break-ins.
DISNEY’S RECREATES MAGICAL “VILLAGES”: Kathleen reads an announcement that Disney has announced plans to start building a mixed-use residential community in California’s Coachella Valley, which will be called Cotino. The complex will include 1,900 housing units that will be designed in a small-town resort-like feel much like Disney’s theme parks. Kathleen shares a story of attending “Cinderella’s Breakfast” with her younger siblings at Disneyworld when she was a teenager.
LEGEND OF THE SELKIES: Kathleen reads a recent story of a California fisherman who was rescued by a seal when he fell off his boat into the Pacific Ocean. The man was assisted by a seal for over 5 hours as he swam to an oil tanker platform, and attributes the seal’s support for saving his life. Kathleen links the story with the old legend of The Selkies, or Seal People, who are said to be cursed with a constant longing for what they do not have and can transform from one creature to another by shedding their sealskin and putting it on again.
WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching “Vikings: Valhalla” on Netflix.

All of the pharmacy/dime stores had lunch counters way back when. We had Woolworth's, until Walmart came in and took over. There was often a 'pet' center too, where you could get a parakeet, mouse, fish, puppy, kitten, and pet supplies. Before malls and department stores: You could go in with twenty bucks and come out with fabric to make your prom dress, make-up, hygiene products, new earrings, a new aquarium filter, light bulbs, a grilled cheese sandwich with side salad and a fountain soda, some penny candy, and a can of soup.
I like the things you toss into your lists.

OMG, Chi Chi Rodrigez, what a guy! When the Legends of Golf tournament was held at onion Creek in Austin Texas my family used to go every year. Chi Chi always had the biggest gallery because he was such a showman and so personable. The Pro-Am was always so much fun with people like Willie Nelson and Neil Armstrong interacting with the fans. Great memories.

Kmart is in KEY WEST, Florida NOT Miami. Key West is closer to Cuba (90 miles) than the nearest Walmart, Target or shopping mall. Kmart is all we have of this type of store within a 4 hour drive. Thank you Kathleen so much for your show, I look forward to it every week and appreciate your continued efforts even though you are so busy now that you are back on the road!

Kathleen, love your pub cast! I was an occasional beer drinker ( was mostly wine) but have been inspired to try some craft beers lately. I live in Az about 1.5 hrs north of Phoenix and am lucky to have a liquor deli store with a huge selection of beers. Thought you'd get a kick out of these two I bought recently but haven't tried yet. I wanted to send Pic but won't let me add here. One is called Birthday Sasquatch! The other is called Sneaking Suspicion and has a Pic of a white bulldog on the front. Lots of fun trying these and listening to you. Hope to come to the Vegas show if not sold out

Roundabouts suck! I live in Arkansas. We have so many of them in our town. We have 4 colleges here. Nothing is worse than all those freshman trying to figure out how to navigate them.

Everybody sleeps on Storks (2016) but it slaps. That's my all time fav too. I've watched it hundreds of times and gone through 2 dvds (boomer ik but still). I watch clips of it everytime I'm sad. It's a banger, every termite needs to watch it.

Hi K and Paddles, Ms. here. 1) Love the Minneapolis beer! 2) Going up North in WI or MN- forget Duluth, Mn at this point. Superior, wi- just across the bridge- stay there and explore to your own delight! 3) Hank the Tank sounds like the local DNR hasn't been doing their job. Poor Hank. Grizzlies are notoriously short tempered so I can't believe local authorities have taken THIS long to do anything. Those bears can be moved and will be fine. I'm a backpacker from way back, done trips in Grizzly country, so I'm horrified by that story. Again, poor Hank. 4) LOVED all the Holy Shit They Found It! My fave segment. Keep it up, gals! This was great! Thank you for doing this week after week. God Bless You Both.

K-Mart is soooooo missed, it wasn't fancy looking but it had everything you needed at good quality and price. Sigh.... Lunch counters were great they disappeared around 1990-2000 in my area.

I met Henry Winkler a few years ago standing on a line to meet Kristy McNichol and he was extremely nice and friendly. I know how concerned you have been about the Mtaylasia for years, you should to check out the Plane Finder app to help them found any other lost flights.
First loved the pubcast. And secondly we definitely had a cafeteria in our Kmart. We kids ate lunch there was a big highlight without parents. And did your sister meet Cinderella?????

if you really want to be grossed out by polluted ocean water, check out the giant bus size pipes dumping raw sewage directly off the beach in the Dominican Republic....a couple of miles down the beach you can see a huge all inclusive resort. Huge brown sewage plumes drifting down the shore....for tourists with way too much free alcohol and not enough antibiotics and imodium to swim in....
GUESS WHO LIVED THERE FIRST?…. THE BEARS…… AND, some tourists try to get to close. you have to respect the. IN THEIR TERRITORY….
They keep putting the goddamned roundabouts all over Louisiana! These ppl can’t drive as it is! And save me a plane ticket to Pompeii, Kathleen, I’m coming with you!
