Erykah Badu and J Dilla together...amazing. RIP J Dilla. Neo-Soul, was everything. Thankfully, we have the titans from that music period still making music - Erykah, D'Angelo, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Eric Roberson, Ledisi...among so many others...
Your Dad will absolutely lose his mind when he hears Ye-yo on her live album. She was pregnant and having pains onstage. You could feel the emotions and pain in her voice. Its so poetic because Ye-yo means mother in the Maasai language. Erykah Badu is so melodic, spiritual and smooth. She's a whole vibe. (If Chaka Khan & Billie Holiday had a baby that's Erykah) 😍

This song has influenced my spirit beyond words and taught me the valuable lesson of following my heart and knowing that sometimes we make bad choices but it’s not the end all be all…. it’s j’s beat, eryakah’s voice and words/lesson. i am forever grateful that this song was created 💗
Just found this channel and I love it. I lost my dad 4 months ago. One of my favorite traits I got from him (and my mom) was the ability to appreciate ALL genres and eras of music. I know their music their music almost as well as they do, LOL. Seeing this dad be so open to and appreciative of the music I've grown up with makes me smile and takes me out of my grief for a bit. Keep up the good work!
If I may make a suggestion, I would recommend “Lifetime “ by Maxwell. It’s another great song in the neo-soul genre that also gives you that ethereal feeling right from the start.
I love how he does his research and understands the background of the artist and the impact they have on the culture. I love this channel it’s so endearing
I love everything about you two! It's great to see a child educate their parent. The son is so knowledgeable and respectful of the craft and you can see he gets his love of music from his dad. I just came across you guys today and I'm a fan already!! Keep it up!
I'm glad I got to catch the premiere. You've already introduced dad to Erykah and The Roots. Now you should introduced him to Jill Scott. Play "He Loves Me" and see how dad likes that.
Wow can’t believe I haven’t heard this tune before thank you for introducing this to me! Will be rinsing her music out now. Love this channel, love the concept. You both seem like genuine decent people too, keep it going guys I’ve only just discovered this channel and watched all your videos. I love the rap reactions the most as I wish I could do this with my own dad and have him appreciate some of the gems there are in the genre. As he was mainly rock and rubbished all the rap I loved growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s. So is great to see your dad loving some of them.
I really appreciate what you do. Art has always brought people together no matter culture, race, or religion. Love the channel, love the content, and love your pops!
I jus gotta say the fact that y’all show genuine interest in understanding and appreciating hip hop/rap, trap, neosoul, rnb etc. (trying to be p.c. But f it) the fact that ur showing genuine interest in the culture is probably one of the biggest reasons I seeing myself and the black community are gravitating to this channel. We can feel the genuine love u have for our music and culture and all I can say is thank you for shining a light on all the amazing works legends in our culture deserve. Thanks ❤️
Yea same. I found this channel about a week and a half ago and watched all their reactions that day. Now im just waiting for them to upload a new reaction.. Love this channel.
I think Dad should see the visuals for these songs as well after hearing the song first. Let him soak in the music, THEN soak in the beautifully powerful visuals to these songs. He would so appreciate it ❤️ I LOVE YOU GUYS! Keep up this great content! And again, I suggest a series where Dad introduces us to HIS faves from his day.
You just need to keep going with these reactions. I’m in love with watching the respect and interest between father and son in this videos. Can’t stop watching.

I totally agree!! The Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill is one of my favorite albums!! I think that his dad would love how Lauryn did Can't Take My Eyes off you by Frankie Valli. It was released in 1967. Great job guys and a beautiful relationship. Keep up the good work. 💙💙
Loved the reaction! I grew up to Erykah Badu. My mother used to play her music all the time. The son is very knowledgeable and he is even teaching me some things I didn't know about artist.
My mother liked Baduizm and Apple Tree was one of her faves. I fell in love with Mamas Gun. Even tho they are only about 3 yrs apart, this one feels more a part of my youth than the former.
I’ve seen Erykah live twice, five times in total if you count them quarantine concerts lol. She absolutely delivers every time! So glad y’all did this song, Mama’s Gun is absolutely a classic. Edit: I second the suggestion in the comments about doing “Green Eyes” by Erykah Badu from the same album.

Makes more sense now as to why this was always my favorite track on Mama's Gun (Clevah is a close second) and my favorite track of hers period. Baduism is one of the best albums of all time of any genre and I play it so much that sometimes I have to let Baduism rest and give all her other albums a play.
Aloha Sistah 🤙🏽
I actually didn’t know that. Wow. Dilla was a beast, this beat is hypnotizing. And then Erykahs voice on top just seals the deal
Right! Me either
It's so awesome seeing your dad experience the music that I've grown up listening to for the first time. It actually makes me appreciate the songs more and I find myself noticing things about the songs I've never noticed. You and your dad are amazing!
Nice to know that.. And thank you. (dad)
Same!! Seeing someone else experience this music I cherish for there first time before my eyes is so refreshing and I too find a new found deeper appreciation for the music I have loved and listened to for years
This song has influenced my spirit beyond words and taught me the valuable lesson of following my heart and knowing that sometimes we make bad choices but it’s not the end all be all…. it’s j’s beat, eryakah’s voice and words/lesson. i am forever grateful that this song was created 💗
It is truly a beautiful thing! (dad)
That's not what the song is about at all....
Your pops is a gem; has a real calm gentle inviting presence. Youre blessed
If I may make a suggestion, I would recommend “Lifetime “ by Maxwell. It’s another great song in the neo-soul genre that also gives you that ethereal feeling right from the start.
Mhmm! Yup!
Absolutely love the song!
Yassssssssss
No, Ascension
So good
I love how he does his research and understands the background of the artist and the impact they have on the culture. I love this channel it’s so endearing
One of my favorites from Erykah. My favorite lyric in the song “Time to save the world, where in the world is all the time?”
I’ve heard this song many times, but after how the son laid out her history, it was a must to listen again. Loved it! 🌞
This was awesome 👌🏾
"The Light" (by Common) is a great song dedicated to Erykah Badu; I think that would be a great follow up
Yassss
Yesss do it
would definately be a great follow up. and another great example of some neo-soul like music
Come close was too
Absolutely 🙏✨
I love how you both breakdown each song, not only by lyrics but musicality and the history of each artist.
That's what I am enjoying too.
Appreciate that, thank you!
I'm so glad I stumbled into your channel. Instant fan!
You and your Dad are so 😎 cool.
I actually met her last week after her concert at Red Rocks. So kind, humble and absolutely beautiful.
I love everything about you two! It's great to see a child educate their parent. The son is so knowledgeable and respectful of the craft and you can see he gets his love of music from his dad. I just came across you guys today and I'm a fan already!! Keep it up!
Try the group “Floetry” your dad will probably love the group!
😩❤️ their father and son chemistry is so inspirational. This Badu track is hypnotic and philosophical. 🎶
I'm glad I got to catch the premiere. You've already introduced dad to Erykah and The Roots. Now you should introduced him to Jill Scott. Play "He Loves Me" and see how dad likes that.
I love that song!
Yes! That song would be great!
That whole album is a masterpiece. She's one of my favorite artists put there.
Thanks ❤️
Officially hooked to your page! I think it’s beautiful that you and your father can share these moments with each other! Wishing you much success.
And dad is jammin! 😆
Thank you so much for watching!
He would so appreciate it ❤️
I LOVE YOU GUYS! Keep up this great content! And again, I suggest a series where Dad introduces us to HIS faves from his day.
You just need to keep going with these reactions. I’m in love with watching the respect and interest between father and son in this videos. Can’t stop watching.
No matter how many requests you get, you aways pick goldies! Well done sir!
Thank you! Glad you think so
A couple of Neo Soul artists I think you’d both enjoy are Jill Scott (Love Rain) and India Arie ( Ready for Love) and Bilal (Sometimes).
Love rain!!! Omg that song sings to my soul
I still play Bilal!
I love how you guys fall in the trance she places on you! Powerful mad respect you have for the real feeling music gives you. Float on
☺️
You guys have excellent taste. She is one of the few artists that made me drive to another state to get her first album that had been promoted well in advance. I have to check out this channel.
Now that’s what I call a fan! (dad)
Dad is right in saying "there is space in it", especially Neosoul. It allows your to add & expand your own expression within it.
Erykah’s music still feels so good all these years later🥰
You two are kicking butt, what is this 20K more subs in two weeks?🤩
I love how dad became captivated by the tune and tones of her voice! She really is magical! I really enjoy this channel! Really love how you and your dad are spending time together! That’s a beautiful thing to see and really makes me smile knowing you two are making memories! 🗣I can’t waaaaaaaaait until you listen to THE Lauryn Hill!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I. LOVE. HER! Just as much as Pac! Can’t wait til you listen to some Nas as well! I respect and love how you both take the time to listen and learn what our music is about! It’s all so refreshing!! 💛🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill will change your life!!! 💛✨✨✨✨
Your dad has to hear
ghostface killa - "all I got is you"
Nas- If I ruled the world
It’s a “vibe” may be the descriptive word you're seeking guys and yes I hear the Diana in her voice as well. Thank you both for sharing the experience.
I hear Billie Holiday
hands down one of my favorite songs of all time...awesome to see someone else loves it enough to do a video on it!
Hearing his genuine reaction and heartfelt response to a song and artist that I've loved for years is like getting to hear the song for the first time again. I absolutely love what you guys are doing. I would suggest Other Side of the Game by Erykah Badu as well ❤
Yes! To the whole statement!
would love to watch y’all listen to
“To Zion” by Lauryn Hill & Carlos Santana …. KEEP THESE FIRE VIDEOS COMING!
Better yet... I LIKE THE WAY ft Lauryn, CeeLo, and Carlos
Yesssss
YEAH
facts
She has so many great songs! She is the godmother of neo soul! Often imitated, you know the rest...
Never duplicated
That ENTIRE album is a MASTERPIECE!!! Play Green Eyes and Orange Moon for him too🔥🔥
My FAVORITE song from Erykah and Dilla. Your dad summed it up perfectly! From the vocals, production, lyrics. New fan of this channel!
She definitely paved the way for Neo-Soul and many indie artist today who perform music tailored to this sound.
Definitely agree
The channel grew so quick 🙌🏾 and yea Erykah is goated
Loved the reaction! I grew up to Erykah Badu. My mother used to play her music all the time. The son is very knowledgeable and he is even teaching me some things I didn't know about artist.
Nice memory for you! Thank you for watching. (dad)
My mother liked Baduizm and Apple Tree was one of her faves. I fell in love with Mamas Gun. Even tho they are only about 3 yrs apart, this one feels more a part of my youth than the former.
One of my top 5 Erykah songs. All her songs are so poetic, so many metaphors and double entendres. She’s so talented.
Your choices are top tier I’m amazed every time
This sample so good too guys !!!
Tarika Blue- Dreamflower
stunning track !!!!
YUP!!!💯💯💯💯
I’ve seen Erykah live twice, five times in total if you count them quarantine concerts lol. She absolutely delivers every time! So glad y’all did this song, Mama’s Gun is absolutely a classic.
Edit: I second the suggestion in the comments about doing “Green Eyes” by Erykah Badu from the same album.
Love you and your dad's exploration of music. There's always a deep respect, openness and connection that is so lovely to watch.
Well studied young man. Fathers inquisitive energy mixed in with his wisdom is a blessing. Only listen to them and the twins for reactions.
I'm loving you two! What a great idea for a channel. I'm a 49 year old woman with 27 year old twin son musicians. The best moments, memories I've shared with them by FAR is our love of music. They've shared with me and vice versa. I love how open your dad is... and observing you guys bonding over phenomenal music is great. Good taste 👍🏽👌🏽😊! Cheers!
U guys have just gained a new subscriber🙋🏽♀️. I too love to find the beauty and majic all types of music can make U feel. Thank U both. I am a believer that music can cause positive conversations and understanding of other people's culture.

This is one of my all time favorite, I used to play basketball listening to the song... U should do Window Seat next
And you GOTTA do On and On by Badu! Her first single and so deep!
