    Additional tip: If you want to angle the "planet" a few degrees like how Earth rotates, you can place an empty in the same spot as the Earth and rotate the empty on it's axis. then create a second empty and parent the other empty to that (but keep it's transforms untouched). Then create a third empty (like in the video) in the world origin and parent the 2nd empty to that empty.
    This way the planet can rotate around a sun (which can have the same cycles setup. This can be repeated for all the planets :)

    You can also just set up a simple driver. In the transform>rotation field you want it to rotate, type "#frame". If you want it faster or slower, you can use math such as "#frame*5", or "#frame*-5" to go in the opposite direction. This method requires no key frames of modifiers. I'm just not sure if you can define when it starts or stops the action since it doesn't use keyframes (probably some way to do it). But it is useful for something that has to keep moving, like an analog clock or something.

  • @Hannie.Schaft
    @Hannie.Schaft 2 роки тому

    You could also just put #frame in one(or more) of the rotation values. If that's too fast for you you can divide it like by any number like for example #frame/420

    Nice video. I would have done that with drivers but I didn't know about animation modifiers until quite recently. This way is easier, I suppose. With drivers you have a bit of maths to remember.

    Nice video thank you ...But what if you wanted to make a something spin at great speed e.g like a wheel burn out/ wheel spin. I am trying to do this but the wheel spin looks to slow no matter how fast or high i put the rotation at.

    • @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786
      @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786  4 роки тому

      Another way to do this, which will handle great rotation speed, is to:
      *keyframe two adjacent frames with a rotation of whatever (45 degrees).
      *go to the graph editor and set the keys->INTERPOLATION to 'linear', and the channel->EXTRAPOLATION to 'linear' too. The Interpolation linear makes it so that there is no easing (just constant change of angle). The channel Extrapolation linear will make it so that the graph just extends past the last keyframe in the direction it is currently going.
      *select that one keyframe point on the graph and Grab it and move it up higher to increase the slope of the graph for fast speeds.
      This works for the method I show in this video too, just move the keyframe point to higher value.

    • @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786
      @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786  4 роки тому

      I think you can select the first keyframe (maybe two) and see the Interpolation mode to Bezier (just not linear). Then select the other keyframes (the last one/s) and set their Interpolation to linear(co stant). That way you have easing at the beginning and then constant speed later.

    • @jojolafrite90

      Normal, that is NOT a right way to animate a rotation!!! I can't do it... It destroyed my project because we can't even do SOMETHING AS BASIC AND SIMPLE???!
      Fuck that! It's actually crazy that we can't do it properly, like the motor in C4D which let's you assign a rotation speed, but ONLY TO A fucking rigid body?! These people are all crazy.
      If I try the keyframe "method" it randomly changes rotation direction or stops at the middle! It's just totally crazy that this is like that. I can't even fathom how and why things are this way.

      I think you can select the first pair of key frames and then look for interpolation mode and change it off of Linear to one of the others. Then you can adjust to ease in.

  • @aliensoup2420
    @aliensoup2420 4 роки тому +1

    The Cycle Modifier is great for repeating complex motion, but for this instance of extending constant motion it is unnecessary. Blender continues motion beyond the last keyframe based on its interpolation or the direction of its outgoing curve handle.

    • @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786
      @gamemakergameprogrammingco4786  4 роки тому

      Agree. Set the interpolation mode of the key frames to linear AND also set the Channel Extrapolation mode to linear as well (this makes the slope of the lines in graph editor continue forever past the last key frame at same slope)

Rotating along any axis also rotates the W axis, which seems to be causing the problem. If anyone knows of any work arounds, it'd be much appreciated
