I'm so glad you love this new video! you are wonderful, watch the most expensive colors: ua-cam.com/video/GAxNELlxj-s/v-deo.html
So we’re talking “frumpy” which has no age not “how not to wear it like an older woman” or a grandmother. Because older woman and grandmothers rock! Great tips here!
Grandma's are sexy.
Exactly!
I fear looking frumpy far more than I fear age !!!
In autumn fitted knitwear is fine but when I'm freezing I don't care, being cold makes me miserable so warm big and cosy wins, bright colours help me feel better on dark days and I feel so slim in spring when the layers are disgarded and get put back in the loft 🤣
I have seen a lot of fashion videos but this is one of the best I have seen about cardigans.
thank you xxx
Omg, to leave the shirt collar underneath the cardigan. Geez... learned something that will definitely make me look younger. Thank you Frederique!
I love this video… I wear a lot of cardigans and am a grandmother who likes to look chic and not frumpy. Great advice as usual. 😘
Love that!
I do wear a Christmas jumper for Christmas jumper day in the UK, which this year will be on 8 December, I donate to whatever charity my company are supporting for that year, as it's only £2, it's for a good cause and I have one with lights on, it's so much fun. I promise I don't wear it apart from that day.
Frédérique would you PLEASE give tips for women with long torso, wide hips, and short legs!! It’s almost impossible to find jeans that fit and I’m confused about shirt, top, sweater length. Love your advise!
My favorite “cardigan” is my cream cashmere shirt from Lily Silk. Just having a collar and standard shoulder seam gives it more structure and interest and it’s the perfect light weight for me. It looks more like a knit top (I suppose that’s because it is essentially), which I love. Also, I hate the dropped shoulder seams that many current cardigans and other sweaters have. They don’t flatter my narrower shoulders and just look droopy, not my idea of a youthful look, I have too many droopy areas already! Nor do I like the very chunky-knit ones, they’re too hot and bulky.
Me too on droopy areas Lol
Love your split screen format. Organizes my brain. You speak and show us the example. Excellent content today.
Thank you. I have a few to get rid of. I never did feel good in them.
Now we need. Food ideas. One week breakfast lunch. And dinner. You look fabulous
As a 49 year old woman with 2 kiddos, I have amassed a collection of Xmas T-shirts, sweaters, jewelry and leggings. They are gaudy, sparkly, loud and fun. I LOVE THEM and have made it my THING. Now that it is the day after thanksgiving in FL at a balmy 76, It is now time for my xmas attire. I am wearing my red and white “Mama Claus” shirt, light washed raw hem cropped jean and white sneakers. For the rest of the year I dress classically and occasion appropriate. Xmas is my time to be a goof ball. And as the kids say, “You do you boo.!!”
Elementary school teachers love surprising their students with "goofy" outfits. Some groups of teachers coordinate outfits for specific days. I remember painting inexpensive white sneakers for different holidays. Hilarious when I see pics all dressed like that. Making memories for the kiddos.
I am 77 yrs. old and I've been rockin' short cardigans for over a year, now. I am barely 5'2", 114 lbs., short waisted, long legs and large bust. Because of my short waist, I can wear cropped cardi's ,as they do not show any skin!! I do not wear any sweaters that are too long, tight or boxy and, fortunately, I have never been to an "ugly sweater" party! 😍
Thanks so much for the tip on sizing down! I bought a cardi this season and it just always looked wrong somehow!! Next time I'll size down🤩
I love cardigans so much. These tips are fantastic!
You look elegant understated and chic. I am obsessed with the necklace
Love this video, I am in the process of buying some new ones so I found this at the perfect time 🙏🏽
Thank you Frédérique ❤
I still love a Fair Isle sweater, grandma-ish or not. If I ever find a lightweight cashmere or merino one in my favorite colors, I’ll nab it. There are many cute ones, but they’re boiling thick acrylic, so off of me in three minutes!
Love windowpane checks, like in your duster.
Fairisles are lovely classics! Must finish one I started knitting 35years ago! Wool or cotton with a bit cashmere or silk are my favourites.
I do think that if it's pretty, I will like it.
I think that's ok, and nice for other people to look at.
Thank you for discussing cardigans. I was just wondering about mine. Good tips.
I love your cardigan tips. Thx
☺️
Great tips Frederique. Wishing you a great holiday weekend.
This was so needed!
Great advice! I learn something new everytime I watch your video!
merci 😘
that was a good tip about shirt collars under cardigans
Here I am in a super baggy sweater over a baggy long dress with combat boots. I probably look 3x heavier, but sometimes I want to be a walking cocoon.
I've got 3 layers on legs and thrr jumpers on over thermals. Obviously not in Australia! 2 degrees here, freezing. Yes, cocoon up. Stop turning the heating up. I'm looking for a fake fur slanket, the cats will love it too! AND people should enjoy silly Christmas jumpers in December. It's a bit of fun.
Team Cocoon Fashion!
So very true all of these tips regarding cardigans! This was a funny, truthful, and great video! I’m also only 5” tall! 😊
Love this video! so fun, helpful and full of humor and joy.
So glad!
Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer 🦌
Great tips, thank you 😊
Your hair is so beautiful! 🤩
Love your videos and your sparkling personality! They always make my day.
Maybe your “don’t” avatar for this video could skip the grey wig? As a woman who’s made my grey hair a conscious style choice after dyeing it for thirty years, I still feel relevant, authentic and chic and get lots of unsolicited compliments on it. However, it’s getting past society’s stereotypes that is the oddest aspect of rocking my grey hair, especially when those stereotypes are perpetuated by other women. I know you didn’t intend it this way; we’re just so socially conditioned to interpret grey hair as old that it’s an easy archetype to latch onto. Grey hair is not necessarily synonymous with frumpy style or symbolic of women who have stopped making an effort to be stylish. I turn to you, Fréderique, to debunk this myth! Maybe you could do a video on how to ensure grey hair looks like a conscious style choice. ;
As always, great fashion advice! Thanks for the joy you bring.
I have decided to quit coloring my hair and really struggling with it because of looking older. But I don’t want to be like my mother who colored hers until she turned 80.
Merci Frederique! I agree with all. Even though I'm tall, I prefer the elongating cardigan. It's not flattering to get visually chopped up at the waist or hips at my age.
Thank you for the great tips!!
Great advice Frédérique! When I was a young mum I had one of those big bobbly cardigans. My sister said this has to go! I was so glad I ditched it 😅
Bonjour Frederique! Love that you are getting sponsors for your channel! You are looking so lovely!! Love you. 🥰 XOXO
merci always for your love and support xxxx
I love cardigans - they are so underestimated. I especially like fitted cashmere short cardigans. Bring them back. Cashmere - do buy good quality cashmere - cos is the quality and spinning is done well, they last for decades. Thanks for the tips.
You look lovely today ... as always. Thx for tips on cardigans.
Please do a video on how to wear hoodies and hoodie's with a zip, and the wide bottom's and the curf bottom's thanks South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you so much Frederique!❤ any chance in a video on HOW TO wear a scarf? Breaking out my collection now 😉 Thank you in advance 🙌🙌🙌
😂😂😂😂love this!! They do Ugliest Christmas Sweater parties here!! Hilarious😂😂😂❤️❤️love and look forward to all of your videos!! You ALWAYS make me smile. NEVER stop being YOU MY FRIEND❤️❤️❤️🙏🙋♀️
Merci frederike
Love the gray cardigan
Oo! I love that window pane pattern cardigan you showed! It has such an interesting collar! I love dusters the most. Anywhere from my knees down to my ankles. Especially if I'm wearing heals or boots with a heel!
Me too!!
@@ms.frederique Me three!
🧲 Drawn to duster length toppers〰️the longer the better! L🤍ve the drama. They make me feel so powerful〰️as if I'm sweeping in grandly from the 🎬Matrix. (😉 Plus, they work beautifully w/all dress+skirt hem lengths.) Next favorite is the knee-length hem.
Not a big fan of pattern or fussy details😖...more of a minimalist in that direction. Can tolerate a vertical pinstripe on a blazer or trouser, but otherwise stripes 🚫 are out. 😳 Like slouchy shoulders, they make my frumpy meter ring 🚨.
😍Whole-heartedly agree that your windowpane check cardi is stunning. It has great structure, & the color palette is utter perfection👩🍳💋!
Great advice, esp. in sizing down. It seems counter-intuitive to go smaller in a topper layer, but it depends on what you're after. If you want cosy warmth, go your size & belt it. 🤗Going smaller & leaving it open can be oh so ➡️slimming⬅️.

Nice advice for wearing appropriate cardigans nd which style for best look thanks
You are the best! Funny and very classy😊
THANK YOU ❤ I was looking at my old cardigan collection last week and trying them on. I am in the process of closet cleaning so I was sorting knitwear. I thought most of the cardigans were too long (I'm 5'3"), too boxy, or too baggy. I did consider the "frumpy" factor and I had images of Mrs. Doubtfire. I put the cardigans in a pile because I didn't know what to do with them. Thanks to these tips I have styling ideas.
Wonderful!
The ugly Christmas sweater is just for fun, something to wear on an ugly Christmas Sweater party, people used to ( probably some still do) receive such piece of cloth from a relative that they only saw once a year and who had no clue of the recipient’s taste or size.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
I just bought a navy blue, long cardigan, simple style yet elegant, it does elongate my petite size.
I'm only an inch taller but have different body proportions. I prefer jumpers but have some plain knit longer cardigans I wear with belts. A couple are long enough to wear as wrap dresses! I think to avoid frumpiness at any age, keep it simple, focus on colours, shape and quality fabrics. Waist length cardi are nice with skirts. Cropped can look good over a dress. Don't buy cheap and debobble regularly. It's really about body shape and proportions and how you wear it.
Merci!
Life is too short and way too serious to not have a bit of fun and sport those funky Christmas sweaters! ♥️🤗🎄
A great video Thank you lovely lady
Glad you enjoyed it
Frumpy knows no age. I’ve seen 20 somethings who look baggy and unkempt and 80 somethings who are elegant and stylish. Please don’t be ageist!
I like the straw hat- but I'm looking for one with a white ribbon and not so pricey but cute!
I love a white hat band, too. I just change the band or ribbon, securing it with a few stitches, hot glue doesn’t look as nice.
You look beautiful Frederique! Longer hair suits you. Great video 😍😍😍
I've got three lovely long cardigans from Noni b that are very chic. Two with fur removal collars.
Thank you handy tips for me.. Living in MIAMI I have a fourth of my closet for outerwear. Though mostly sweaters/cardigans for all the freezing air conditiiner weather at work/doctors/restaurants. Let us know when you are offering your course.
Thanks for this video and your humor!
Did you know you look the actress Sela Ward?
I love your videos! Question. Where did you purchase the grey, black and white duster cardigan? I love not only the colors but the style. Merci!
I would also love to know where you got the grey, black and white duster from? Thanks 🙂
I so agree with you that classic is best! The one thing that I would like to see is a video (or just combine in your other videos) is clothes that look good on us women who have had cancer and mastectomies. We can’t do anything very low cut because of the special bras but we still like to feel a bit like a woman!! Do you know what I mean? I don’t want to give up!! Thank you!
Donna Carraway, Girl, you need to contact this Lady, Rhonda Shear. She makes the most beautiful bras. You need to pitch her this idea! I dont think she does this. Good Blessings to you hun
Yes, that kind of video would be great,
I have a love hate relationship with cardigans.
They are necessary and comfortable, but they are rarely elegant, and most women for some reason myself included have the habit of pulling them forward to cross over their bust, a d it looks terrible. Thanks for tip re collar, I never really thought about that and you are spot on.
Was your watch the men's size or women's size? It stood out. I love it.
This came just at the right time for me. I am 63 and used to dress intuitively but because of various negative experiences over the last few years, I’ve lost my sense of style. I really don’t want to look like a granny! I just brought a patterned dress and can’t afford a blazer so was going to go for a cardigan but couldn’t decide what style to choose. After seeing this video I have a much clearer idea of what will work. Don’t worry about your height, I am 4ft 11in 😂 xx
I’ve been invited to so many specifically named “ugly Christmas sweater” parties 😂 I want to be fun, but I also want to say- just stop please. Haha.
This is where the thrift shop is your friend. Or maybe Target or Walmart. They sometimes carry ugly holiday themed sweaters.
The ugly Holiday sweater is an American jokey thing, no one takes them seriously or wears them as wardrobe items, but mostly to ugly or corny sweater theme contests or parties. It’s exactly like wearing a Halloween costume. As for normal cardigans, I almost always feel frumpy in them, I’d rather wear one of my knit blazers, which have some structure (I added small shoulder pads, too) and are just as comfy. Cardigans are ok for around the house, I suppose. Cropped (waist-length) or very long ones give me better proportions, than hip- or thigh-length ones but the dusters aren’t as current as they were a few years ago.
Ooh great!! I was going to wear
my buttons down red sweater with black slacks for Christmas dinner, leaving the top two buttons undone. It's a pretty solid red. Yes, or no? 😏
Wow you are a wealth of information, I am albanian-italian.lo o/o french.
thank you xxxx
Love you black shirt in this video. Can you please tell me which shirt it is from Zara. Love it on you! THX!
its an old one :(
I have a really inverted v shape, 34” hip, 29 waist 36d bust 5 10 tall. Completely Flat butt. I’ve been covering with dusters but love crop I wear cardis in lieu of blazer in business. Ty. For advice
Love this video - where do we get that lovely windowpane duster? Fabulous
Australian shop
I am petite hourglass according to Trinnny and Suzanna. What should I wear as jeans?
Vous etes TRES chic!!
merci frédérique pour cette video, moi j'aime beaucoup les cardigans et c'est vrai que ça peut vieillir donc merci pour tous tes conseils.
Where's the LOL emoji for the cover pic?! You crack me up. 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
Olá!
Sugiro a marca "Lanidor" para peças bonitas, e de qualidade. 😉
Beijinhos de Portugal!! 🇵🇹
What a stunningly gorgeous woman!
Great tips? Do you have videos on makeup or perfumes not to look old lol
yes please check my beauty playlist thanks
This whole time I thought she was 5’10” 😂😂
Like you I buy my sweaters a size smaller because they are all so oversized. I agree about solid colors color blocking is the worst cuts the body all up and I am tall and I also wear heels. I never buy cardigans with buttons very old lady even if you don't use the buttons.
We are wondering where you purchased the black shirt you were wearing in your video. My wife loved the shirt and would like to purchase it. Thank you
I'm pretty sure she gets her silk shirts from lily silk she had a discount code at one time but I don't know anymore but you should definitely ask her about that
it's from zara :)
Lol! Christmas sweaters! The worst!!! 😂
I'm 57 and I ALWAYS pull my collar OVER the cardigan! Not anymore! Maybe I'll only look 55!😅
lol
Please, where did u get(brand) that gray with blk and white strip/box cardigan?(time stamp 7:31) It is LOVELY!!
its an australian brand
Its beautiful!! I guess they dont ship to the US?😔
I like a striped knitted tank top and shirt 😊
😂❤ i love you
I like cardigans that are short and not too much volume
Love the title of this video 😆
I have ducks disease, so my legs are short, sometimes when I wear something I like, and look at myself in the mirror I look like short and no legs, 😫 perhaps my as I’m only 5 foot four, that’s short when you have had three children and 67 years old, I get that. We do start shrinking at that age, you wait your turn you youngies beautiful ladies. 🙏☮🥰👏😂 Now let me check those watches I need one, as long as they have big face as I cannot read the little face time, need a magnifier, or look for my phone.😉
👋👋👍👍👍 love it we don't want to look a old granny. No no
What mm size is the face of your watch please
i picked the smaller one :)
Wow! Frederique you look prettier👌🏻😉
Wow! Thank you Fred❤
How tall are you and what is your weight? That would give us an idea if we can wear what you wear
160cm
You look so beautiful
❤❤❤
Quanta paura di sembrare vecchie che abbiamo noi donne... ma le vecchie donne sono bellissime tanto quanto le giovani... ed anche il loro stile è altrettanto bello!
😅, Great thumbnail
lol
🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Hi, dear Frédérique, having grey or white hair doesn't nessesarily make us looking older. Just saying. 😉
