- In today's video, we setup two new huge aquariums in Quinn's classroom! We do everything from buying the tanks and fish, to setting up and moving the aquariums in the classroom - all in one video!
The classroom aquariums also get shuffled around to new locations, as I finally get my room organized into the plan I had for so long.

Thanks for watching, and we'll see you next week! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Heart broke for you guys when I saw that leak, especially after dropping the fish in! Nice pick on the yellow jacket 👌
Just when I think I’ve seen my favorite Cichlid Bros. video, you guys one up yourselves.
I also love Quinn is trying to get students into the hobby. I’m in the hobby today because of an elementary school science teacher. It’s been 30 years since I first kept fish. Thanks guys!!
The yellow jacket is going to be sweet such a beautiful fish
Thats awesome
Thank you!
I wish I had a teacher like you. Seriously. This would of been my favorite class
Thank you! Hoping to inspire the next generation!
@@CichlidBros you are doing well 💛💙🤟
Bois I gotta say this was my favorite video from you guys thus far. The wrench in the plan made it that much better for us viewers hahah.
Thanks for watching! It definitely wasn't fun in the moment, but did make it more suspenseful on the rewatch lol
Congrats on the new tanks Quinn! Really excited to see that Yellow Jacket Cichlid in future vids, one of the coolest American cichlids for sure.
Thank you! Will be fun to watch it grow!
I went to this same aquarium adventure shortly after this video came out. I saw the same employee you guys worked with. As he walked past I gave him a nod and said "I saw you on Cichlid Bros!". Made his day, he turned around and yelled to the manager "HE SAW ME ON CICHLID BROS!!!!"
Keep up the great works guys. It might sound silly but your videos make a difference in peoples days/lives :)
Thanks so much for sharing! Love to hear it. Best comment of the week!
No doubt-my favorite Cichlid Bros video of all time. Thanks for sharing guys!
I love Yellow Labs. They were my first cichlids. I can't wait to have a big tank again so I can get them. They're a great fish!
Seeing all these tanks make me want to take this class LOL
Haha thats the goal for some of my kids!
Tanks look great good on you boys excellent video 👍👍
Thank you!
Sorry. Just realized you’re a science teacher. Coolest classroom ever!
Thanks!
Quinn seems happy though and these tanks are going to be special can't wait to see that beast yellow jacket adult size
Can’t wait to show the progress!
The tanks look great! I’m glad everything worked out in the end and those new fish look amazing! This is a good learning experience cause even if you have cycled media it’s probably better to wait a least a day before adding fish just in case it doesn’t go smoothly. I love the videos keep it up guys.
Thank you, appreciate that!
Wow this one is one of the most exciting ones you done
Thanks! It was a lot coming together at once 👍🏻
Sorry to see you guys had to go through all that issue with a new tank. But it does happen from time to time. What I think is so cool is that as an educator you are allowed to setup all these tanks for your students to enjoy and learn about our hobby. Its a great thing you doing for our hobby and for the Kids Love it. Keep up the great work you all are doing!!
Thank you, appreciate that! Glad we were able to get it all done!
I had a friedrichsthalii cichlid for years. beautiful fish aggressive as anything I have ever owned. It was gold and purple so very unique colors. Great job setting all those tanks up at once. Also, way to keep a level head when things went sideways. I had a marine bio teacher in high school that let us keep our own fish. I chose a pair of convicts that bred. I have been keeping cichlids ever since. Amazing video!
Thank you for watching! Should be an awesome fish to watch grow and interact with the kids 🤙🏼
What a fun store! 🥰🐟 And that has to be THE coolest classroom ever.
Thank you! Love to share it all with the students. Can’t wait for next year to start!
Yeah Aquarium Adventure by Petland is super cool. We have 2 in the Chicagoland area and I believe they are the only 2 in the country. There was another in Ohio that they closed.
Edit: looks like they moved the Ohio store and reopened
another great video cichlid bros! i would’ve loved to have had a class in a classroom like that - so cool!
Thank you! Hope the students enjoy it
Awesome class room! I wish I had a class like this when I was in school 100 years ago
Haha, thank you!
I am so glad you guys show all the ups and downs of our beloved fish keeping hobby. Great video, way to stay positive!
Awesome setup on the 90 gallons tank thanks for sharing you guys always do beautiful set up
Awesome job cichlids bro's
Thank you!
I think we need to see more of the Cichlid Bro-In-Law!!!
Haha we try to get him in as much as we can!
Heyyyy that’s me !!! Thank you again guys, I still can’t thank you guys enough
Thanks again for all of the help!
No problem, remember next time you come I’ll help y’all out
That august guy seems pretty cool 😎 and kinda cute 😏
That yellow jacket is going to look lit, they are an amazing fish, I have one myself, very personable fish.
Awesome! Can’t wait!
Nice work fellas. One thing is very true in this hobby, you have to be a problem solver. You guys proved that in this video, think fast and solve the problem 😎
Very true. Thanks for watching, and for the support!
What a great team:) The tanks look amazing. Lucky students to spend time in this classroom! It will be fun to see the fish grow up. Thanks for sharing this project
Thank you, appreciate that!
nice set ups,you all have nice tanks and great videos. you all give good advice about the aquarium world.keep up the good work.
Thank you - Appreciate that!
That store is just by where I used to live! I knew you were in the Chicago area but had no idea you were that close! I recognized the middle display tank they had there, the large hexagon looking one.
Yep, its a great spot! Some great looking South Americans in the hex tank
Rough day but it’s lucky you have brothers (& a brother-in-law) who will all help each other out with the fish set-ups!
Will your yellow jacket get a friend or are they too aggressive?
And you’re lucky you can buy 90 gallons at a store - mine took 16 weeks to custom build (COVID created a peak of demand from bored at-home fish keepers). Although my custom build has never leaked (thank God!) and is beautifully built!
Yeah we were lucky to still get everything done! The yellow jacket will likely be on his own since they are aggressive. He’s already colored up a lot since the video posted!
Love love the Cichlid Bros. Couldn’t wait to see the end result. I have a marine land 75 gallon that’s in pretty good shape but I was plenty worried when I read previous reviews and I knew when you said one was leaking it had to be it. Glad everything worked out. 75 gallons and a 90 is pretty much the same just the 90 is taller. I love my 90 gallon tank. Enjoy. Can’t wait until the next video.
Thank you, appreciate that! Can't wait to share updates on the new tanks. Thanks for watching!
I don't know if I'm in love more with the channel or the Bros 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐟❤🐟❤🐟❤🐟❤🐟 seriously though!! Great content guys!!!
Thank you, really appreciate that!
👍🏽Great Video
Thanks!
Wish my science teacher was this cool! I may not have skipped class. You guys did an awesome job. I have to move a heap of fish tomorrow & this has inspired me with my mbuna tank!
Thank you! It was a long day but happy with the outcome. Good luck moving your fish!
When I saw that leak I KNEW it was the marineland tank! When I upgraded to a 90 gallon, I made sure to offload my marine land 75 gallon - even though it was still new-ish, i've heard of too many instances of them just breaking for no reason
Yep. Once it happened, we connected the dots and realized this wasn't unheard of. We've had the 60 and 75 gallon from them for awhile without issues, but I guess we've been gambling with those as well
awesome
Unlike your other brothers quin u have all your aquariums in classroom instead of your home but still u have the most diverse aquariums of all..be it mbuna tank, nano fish tank or Salt water tank u have all of it...looking for your updates in the future...🙂🤗👍
Thank you! Trying to cover as many aspects of the hobby for the students. With of course, a focus on cichlid keeping 👌🏻
His face when the gatorade leaks says it all 😂
😂😂
I know I commented on that small jack on one of ur last videos but that guy is really pretty.... that yellow jacket is gonna amazing... and even tho the mbu tank caused issues it turned out fantastic, I love the scape it's a beautiful tank
Thank you, really appreciate that!
I hope you guys did manage to get a replacement for the 1st 90 gallon tank. Both scapes are looking great though. I’d definitely look forward to going to class if I were one of Quinn’s students 😂
Still waiting to hear back from marineland! Hope they resolve it soon
wish when i was in school my classroom looked like that lol
Haha trying to get my students to like class (and the hobby)!
@@CichlidBros kids are our future so right on man 👊🏼
Love you guys, random question, what are the dimensions of the 110 gallon tank at the ~7:00 min mark?
It's 24x60x18 inches
I often shop at that place as well. I try my best to stay with small businesses around the Chicago suburbs but sometimes I give in to that place for convenience.
Yeah same here. It's a good spot if you need everything all at once. And better than some of the other big box stores in terms of selection
Sheeeiiiit lesson learned to water test before setting up. Sweet classroom
We didn’t have the time to do a leak test
@@CichlidBros lmao 😂 but you had time to drain the tank, remove all the sand and rock run back to the store get a replacement in the same day. Ended up costing yourself more time imo lol
@@subscribe2me904 yeah we had to pivot and change plans for the evening because of a very small chance a brand new tank would leak. We also used a ton of water in one day so we did what we did 🤷🏻♂️
Break down the 90 and keep the glass for a build
Also can't wait for more fish to be add with the yellow jack
I just set up a 75 n it's always a worry I'm still checking for leaks 2 weeks later...glad you had the man power to get it done.
Thanks! Yeah, it's pretty rare for this to happen. If it's been up 2 weeks without a leak then you're in the clear!
Just went through 4 seapora tanks. All had bad seals. Ended up with a 90 Aqueon. I was trying for a 120 gallon. Honestly 2 months out with the 90. I like it much better. Aqueon is the way to go for large tanks.
Really like the extra height on the 90!
The 110 is looking awesome! What filter and light is on that tank?
Thank you! It’s a FX6 canister and a Fluval aquasky
Great video. Can you use African cichlid sand mix. For South American cichlid’s?
Thanks! I’ve done it before with no issue
i figured after the teaser at the beginning showing the leak it was going to be the Marineland that was leaking. I have never had any issues with the many...many Aqueon (All-Glass) tanks I have purchased over the years. If I buy anything over a 40B, it is always Aqueon (All-Glass)!
Yep! Probably would’ve bought two aqueons if they had been in stock 😔
In the mbuna tank.. are the rocks leaning on the glass?
No about 1-2 inches away
its crazy the big price difference in the 90 gallon to a 75
You guys using the Seamless sump on the classroom’s Custom aquarium too?
Not on this one. Wouldn’t fit with lab table
I'm trying to set up a African Cichlid tank from scratch any recommendations on where I can purchase rocks to form caves going across the bottom?
Most local fish stores around me have them! Could also look into Lowe's/Home Depot as they sell some rocks that could work in bulk
That short Body Flowerhorn has to have A Tank just to herself.. they so mean…😄
Haha yep
@@CichlidBros the Females are meaner than the males… I had them before.. they get there best looks living by themselves… no fighting or stress…😆
Do you guys know where we can get driftwood like that online? (attached to the flat slab)
Some local stores sell online but most luck we’ve had is in store
Tanganyikan community tank is what you should do! No more Malawi cichlids! Way more variety with tanganyikan cichlids
We still have plans to do that at some point. Just not sure which of us will pull the trigger!
🥰😘🐟🐟🐟
What auto feeder system do you use?
I have mostly the Eheim auto feeders
I’m so sad I didn’t know about that sale. Just curious on your thoughts on which one you prefer. Hoffman or Bolingbrook? Looks amazing.
They're both great. I like the display tanks at Hoffman, but Bolingbrook seems to have a better fish selection at times
My African cichlid tank is 75gallon, with 8 pairs.
The sunshine peacocks were colorful when I got them now they lost their color completely.
Can you please advice on this
Africans don’t do well in pairs
which filter was on the 90 gallon that started leaking?
It was a marineland bio wheel HoB that I moved over from another tank
Was wondering which model
How much money did the entire implementation of the aquarium cost? Greetings from Peru
Sucks that the 1st 90 was leaking
What is the name of he fish store great selection
Thanks! It’s aquarium adventure in Bolingbrook, IL
That was a brand new tank that leaked?
Yup 😔
@@CichlidBros 😬
@@CichlidBros scary. I’m sitting on an empty 180 that I just picked up with stand and canopy. Planning the build out slowly. Now I’m nervous lol
Is it often a new tank has leaks or is that an oddity
It’s rare. Was definitely surprised considering we were careful moving it
I have had nothing but Bad luck with Maruneland products myself. I just recently returned a canister filter after 3 weeks of running. Woke up to my leaving room full of water. Now my heater is incorrect on temperature by 6 degrees. I do have two 75 gallon aquarium from marineland hopefully no issues with those.
I’ve had good luck with the 75, so hopefully it’s all good for you as well! I just won’t be using anything else of theirs in the future
@@CichlidBros same here unfortunately
💙💚💛💙💚💛
Hey guys was just looking yo see if I could get some advice on my 75 gallon south American cichlid tank setup!
Sure thing
@@CichlidBros so first thing, it's overstocked. Just over ambitious, telling myself I'd be able to get a bigger tank, but it just doesn't look likely in the near future. So here's the list. 1 blood parrot, 2 platinum parrots, 3 giant danios, 1 green terror, 1 green shoulder severum, 1 firemouth, 1 emerald cichlid, 2 geophagus red humps, 1 electric blue acara, 1 Chinese algae eaters. I just need to figure out what would be the best combination to keep in the tank, and what to get rid of. FYI I do have a good local fish store willing and able to take the fish.
@@alfredodeeric the chocolate cichlid and green terror may get too big, and for the GT also aggressive for a 75. You might be able to keep the rest long term if you remove those two
@@CichlidBros so remove chocolate cichlid, and green terror. And you think the rest would be fine?
@@alfredodeeric yep 👍🏻
I would have either did a water leak test on it or putting extra coat sealer inside
Yeah we would've in some cases, we were just in a hurry to finish everything in one day while we had the band together
What was the final word from Marineland? or are they dingying (Scottish for ignoring) your call?
They actually provided a refund for the tank about 2 weeks later. So I guess it all worked out in the end
Those fake rock backgrounds are so expensive at my local fish store, You guys ought to make your own brand. I have three 75s, anybody have recommendations for cheap fake rocking ? I tried making my own but I’m learning a lot of materials will dissolve in saltwater
Marineland seem to leak on me ,Right out of the box .Didn’t notice if you used Styrofoam under the aquariums ,maybe I missed it.Yesterda picked up another 55 gallon aquarium at Petco $53 ,after the
$ 10.00 pal points from last year and a bonus from manufacture . Substrate cost me more than that,go figurure. I’ll need one more 20 pound one yet. 40 pounds usually isn’t enough I have a wide selection of some Filters I already have.See what happens when your electric blue Acaras Spawn .Not to Mention 52 beautiful large hatch Red wag Platies.Been using aquarium coop brine shrimp lately Fish are fighting to see who spawns next lol.Very interesting video no one ever shows the issues .My daughter was getting married many years ago and one of my youngest grandson messed with a then xl diatom filter. The tubes Disconnected and pumped out 150 gals of fish water on my brand new carpet we didn’t see it until the next morning .All fish flopping about 3 inches of water poor fish .In eight hours my house smell so bad we had to have the Wedding party Get ready for the church at the sister of the grooms home .We only have one daughter so It was a Horrible situation .So never leave my filter tube long after that.In those early years all my Aquariums were built into the walls, makes for more floor space. Thank you so much for the welcome video. Ps Aquarium with all over a large Sectional sofa also fairly new it smells so bad too Never could get the smell out even with Lysol disinfectant .So that cost me another $3,000 to replace it so glad I haven’t had any big issues Sense that must be my lucky day. Oh by the way I was born in Illinois on the kitchen table on Thomas Street that was a few years back lol
Well there goes that myth about school teachers not making 💰 🤑 🤣🤣
Or that I just spend all my money on aquariums lol
I would have just moved the mbuna into the empty new 90g and replaced the other one when he could.
Yeah we just had some logistical considerations since we weren’t going to all be there to move things around again
Can someone help me ID my geophagus. Thanks
DM us a pic on Instagram
@@CichlidBros Thanks so much will do later today. Thank you.
I sent the pics on Instagram I also have a video on my channel if that's easier.
Out of interest did the store take the tank back?
They said it was on Marineland to right the situation. We had to file a request and haven’t heard back in 2-3 days. Not the best look for a brand that’s had a reputation for these things
@@CichlidBros poor show from the store. If you don't mind let us know how it works out. If you turn up with a squad of guys, all the right moving equipment and document the whole process and still can't get it resolved what chance do the rest of us have. This is the real test of a company, when things go wrong what they do to make it right.
Dude aquarium adventures prices are waaaayy to high now hoffmans higher thn bolingbrook
Luckily was 30% off
Never mind lol
I trust no aquarium until the water test. THEN, if no leaks I landscape. I know many people landscape first but this is a clear example of what can happen. I recently bought a 10 gallon, had it delivered and found fingerprints of 100 people , no packaging, and there's no way I'm gonna take a chance doing all that work, rip up plants, displace fish again without filling it first. It took me over an hour just to clean it. Also there's the fact that no manufacturer can claim zero defects. On anything. Good thing you just had rocks and sand. Imagine planting first?
True. We normally would do a water test but were in a time crunch and had used a lot of water moving tanks around
Sincerely hope the school helps you young man pay for this after all it helps all of the Students .Future teachers ,biologist ,doctors ,physical therapist, Pilots machine workers , veterinarians secretaries coaches and fish keepersCan’t think of a better way to spend our tax bill money .Wake up Michigan time to start doing something like this.

I just found out that Elite shutdown their business. Do you know of any other company selling artificial plants of the same quality?
Unfortunately haven't found any good alternatives yet
You’ve just got to stop shopping in pet stores. ( But best of luck with your business. )
One of these dudes needs a voice adjustment
Not sure what that even means, but thanks for the feedback? 😒
you boys need to learn where to shop. you can get gravel and rock and sand at the hardware store for much much cheaper.
Part of the point of the video was to show that you can get everything you need at one store
@@CichlidBros Yes, you can but, it doesn't mean you should.
