I was a manager at a fast food joint and the preparation is very similar. I respect both owner institutions rather equally indeed. Always delish. Yum brands. 😇
Procedures. I’m lovin’ it. Please make some prepping videos for hotcakes, buns, folded egg, dehydrated onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, burritos, etc.
I swear my McDonald's doesn't put this much lettuce on. I always ask for extra but even then it doesn't look as good as this Big Mac. Yum! Really though, they need to bring back the Grand Mac!!!
I am grateful that you are able to function in that noisy environment year after year. I have never received improper food or service from any Mc Donalds restaurant.
Not sure about the patties being in some sort of warming tray. When I worked at McD’s (in the UK) all beef burgers were assembled straight from the grill - hamburgers, cheeseburgers, Big Mac’s, 1/4 pounders. The only things kept in a warming tray were the stuff that took ages to fry - chicken sandwiches, nuggets, filet o’ fish, veg patties. Burgers took about 90 seconds so much easier to slap some down on the grill and cook while the bun was assembled. It was, I remember thinking at the time, the worst job in the world. But I’ve had a few worse since. The fact that the majority of the staff were teens and students made for good kitchen camaraderie and some excellent nights out. Being on tills, on the other hand….let’s just say you saw all human life.
something ive always wondered. why is it each sandwich/item has a different wrapper? and why do things like a big mac go into a box instead of just being wrapped?
Not all of them. Some wrappers are for two or four things (see breakfast, the wraps have four different labels, one in each quarter). Not really sure why they have boxes for the larger burgers instead of just wrapping them all. I assume a wrap would be cheaper than a box.
Some wrappers are used for different items, and the only difference was what the outside said once it was wrapped. The people making the sandwiches aren't the ones bagging so it's easier for them to see what exactly they are grabbing or what they need to send the order out. As for boxes, premium item and it would be a huge hassle to wrap that much sandwich.
because the big mac is a more larger and complex burger than a cheeseburger or a mcchicken so it gets served in a box so that it can stay intact and avoid getting smushed. the different wrappers are for different items because there are many sandwiches and the four corners on a wrapper arent enough to label each sandwich
That toaster is annoying. The one I had at my store had two slots, one for the crown, and the other for the middle (for mac) and heel. Toasting could be faster.
2 роки тому
Was thinking that. The store I used to work at had that model too, perfect for any kind of bun, you didn't have to manually seperate the halves, you just pushed the bun over sort of a blade which would seperate the halves and sent them down the "rapid hole". BUT we still had to use the old school flatbed Big Mac toaster for the Big Mac buns, so there's that lol
My favorite part of making the big macs was using the mac sauce clicker, the click is such a satisfying piece of asmr artwork and the scrumptious vibration send through your pulsing nervous system when you feel the signal of touch and vibration traveling the highway of nerves to your brain is quite uncontended to that of other signals of touch. Now can i please get Morgan Freeman to narrate my comment?
mate. these videos are great. i heard you got into trouble with head office for making them, which is a tragedy. seeing these ive started going back to mcdonalds after a ten year hiatus. head office should give you a pay rise, not a ruler across the knuckles. mind you, they never gave the guy who invented the big mac one ounce of thank you, so no surprises there.
In my youth, we chanted the jingle, "Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." My Dad even had a poster in his shop from McDonalds that had a picture of the Big Mac and all the ingredients listed. Love this hamburger and this video was amazing to watch!
Thanks for sharing this process with us. Now I understand why the Big Mac tastes different now than it did 40 years ago. Different process altogether. You miss the reconstituted onion added during the cooking process. The meat gave some flavor to the bread since even though it was drained by hand during the process of removing the meat from the grill, and tended to melt the cheese a bit as well. The toasters come close to the three section toasters that were used 40 years ago, but just not quite the same.
Another Big Mac master from the early '80--nice to meet you. I could still make a Big Mac today, given how many I made in my year working in a Virginia franchise. I remember your procedure very well because it was what I had to do; this new one explains a lot about today's BM.
That's what I remember from my days at a Fairfax, VA McD, circa 1983. Run of 12 regs, 6 quarter pounders. And I had to run the grille and assemble the sandwiches. This is a completely different routine than what I remember. But McD corporate has test kitchens where they figure out the fastest way to assemble the food, and I guess they've been earning a paycheck for the last 40 years in coming up with new ways to make the production more efficient. Still like a good extra-lettuce Big Mac after all these years.
@@k.r.baylor8825 Think back. It was 12 burgers and 6 Big Macs, and the quarters were run separately. But what this video shows is why McDonald's is no longer fast food. We used to have a timer, and tried to fill each order in under a minute!
I used to have this job as a McDonald's cook back in 2012 and put 14 nuggets in the 10-piece orders whenever a customer ordered one. I miss that job so much. I was an employee for the people!
I remember working at McDs in the mid 90s. You grab the already toasted buns from a storage area where the buns could have been there for up to 2 hours. Add the toppings then grab the meat which could have been in a heated storage area for up to 30 minutes. Put it together in the box, put it in the microwave and serve. I dont think anyone ever got a completely fresh burger during that time unless you made one for yourself/friends before break or when your shift was finished.

I was a manager at a fast food joint and the preparation is very similar. I respect both owner institutions rather equally indeed. Always delish. Yum brands. 😇
lmao Wayne would have been asking for the two big macs by 30 seconds.

We have it here in Canada now
Never had a Big Mac that wasn't an explosion of lettuce so consider yourself lucky, it just falls out everywhere
Being on tills, on the other hand….let’s just say you saw all human life.
put the fries in the bag
You seemed to put quite a bit of care into the food. Not many people would be obligated to do that. Good on you.
1:09 they adding a unnecessary amount of letti
"letti"?😢
As soon as he turns the camera off, you know he ain't making those burgers that tidy lmao
Much love to all fast food employees. I cant imagine how much patience u guys have because some customers will complain over the tiniest of thing's.
something ive always wondered. why is it each sandwich/item has a different wrapper? and why do things like a big mac go into a box instead of just being wrapped?
I'm guessing premium item. Plus, it will be presented better when taken out of the bag. It's protected from being smashed up.
So they don't get confused which is which. Makes it easier and faster for them to identify and bag the orders.
because the big mac is a more larger and complex burger than a cheeseburger or a mcchicken so it gets served in a box so that it can stay intact and avoid getting smushed. the different wrappers are for different items because there are many sandwiches and the four corners on a wrapper arent enough to label each sandwich
Vid 1:30 waiting for Big Mac 10 min :(
That toaster is annoying.
The one I had at my store had two slots, one for the crown, and the other for the middle (for mac) and heel.
Toasting could be faster.
McDonald’s always using so much lettuce it’s like they can’t give it away fast enough lol

Every time I watch this guy's vids, I just end up not wanting a burger on McDonald's.
Holy shit Big Macs have gotten so small they should legally have to remove the word Big from it!

Where
In my youth, we chanted the jingle, "Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." My Dad even had a poster in his shop from McDonalds that had a picture of the Big Mac and all the ingredients listed. Love this hamburger and this video was amazing to watch!
I SEE YOU SKIMPING ON THE ONIONS
imagine being the person who ordered this and have over millions of people see the process of making your food
I worked at McDonald's just to steal the big mac sauce
2:2:1 - 2 parts of Haintz ketchup, 2 parts of 60%+ mayo, 1 part of mustard
2 minutes of the most epic gameplay
Y'all bow down to the artist at work now. And all of them.
This is too satisfying to watch xD
GOOD JOB KEEP GOING BRO
So makes me want one, maybe two! Thanks for all you do!
He's forgotten to spit on it. An essential part of the McDonald's experience

In Poland, Big Mac is badly damaged but it tastes good
Great vid. Discover the making of this legend burger is really interesting.
Wow!!! Significant , revolutionary, I do not know... It just happened.
The Big Mac used to be a mammoth sized burger now its just a mouth sized tidbit.
Nice job serving up those buns!
loved seeing you put meat on those buns!
nice toasty buns!
ha
no actually nice job
Oh, how things have changed in 50 years! Anybody remember running a 12/6 turn/lay?
We used to have a timer, and tried to fill each order in under a minute!
you just got urself a new subscriber
I used to have this job as a McDonald's cook back in 2012 and put 14 nuggets in the 10-piece orders whenever a customer ordered one. I miss that job so much. I was an employee for the people!
BTW, those cooking area beeping sounds still haunt my dreams in 2024.
Must've been a slow day. When I worked at mcds you weren't supposed to touch the patties with your hands either lol
POV: when you pretend you’re a millionaire online 😂
This is what all the good students will be doing in future.
(According to the so called millionaires on social media)
Ate at McDonald once... Never again.
