We think this is Europe's most underrated capital city! Bosnia is stunning!
Totally agree, it’s little known but such an awesome and unique spot!! Have you guys been able to explore a lot of Europe??
@@IfWeGoTo Yes! We have visited every country east of Germany except Belarus and Russia!
Ahh that’s awesome!!! So much to see in that region!
Of course … it’s not in western interest to show you Muslim country in the heart of Europe.
I think the world will come around! 😊
For me, this is the most underrated country in Europe and if not the whole world. Yes it has its background and it's developing from the war it was raged on but it's so pretty. It's a mix of culture and the natural landscapes are sooooo beautiful. I met a friend from there and I fell in love with this country so far. I hope I can visit there in the near future.
Agree! It is so underrated and has so much to offer... we've been wanting to visit again to see more!!
Hope you can visit again soon as well! :D
I think this is the best video about Sarajevo on UA-cam (without being made by a professional TV station).
Wow this is the best compliment we could imagine!! We loved Sarajevo, it’s people, and history, & wanted to make something great to represent it. So really, this is the utmost comment we could receive!! Thank you so much!! ❤️😃
@@IfWeGoTo Maybe there were more interesting places to visit in Sarajevo, but this professionally done montage is great. I won't ask, but it took at least 4 hours to edit a video like this.
For sure! We definitely didn’t cover the city in its entirety. Will have to next time!!
Hahaha, I wish it only took four hours!! Probably took me that long just to organize the footage!!
I think I’m a slow editor though! 😂
@@IfWeGoTo If it took longer than 4 hours, that's just another indicator that I was right about the quality of this video (and not about the slowness of the author ;) ), and that you should be appreciated for that. Come to us again.
Thank you again!! Can’t wait to re-visit Bosnia. Really was an inspiring and beautiful place! ❤️🇧🇦
One of the most interesting vlogs about Sarajevo you guys are just great . I loved it.
Thank you so much!! Very happy you enjoyed it. Sarajevo is an amazing city!
Thanks for visting, come again! :)
Thank you so much!! We absolutely love your city. Hope to come back soon!! :)
@@IfWeGoTo I'm actually from the northeast area of the country but thanks :)
Oh awesome!! Do you think that area is worth a visit too? After seeing Sarajevo & Mostar we’re very interested in exploring more of your country!
@@IfWeGoTo Are you still in Bosnia? I can highly recommend the central part of the country especially Jajce and Travnik and the far northwestern part of the country (Bihac, Velika Kladusa, Martin Brod) and all the nature and waterfalls there.
I would say Sarajevo, Medugorje, Travnik, Jajce, Mostar, Visoko, Bihac, Kravice, Blagaj and Pocitelj are definitely all places one should visit when coming to the country.
Other nice places include Tito's bunker in Konjic, the World War II museum and the destroyed bridge in Jablanica.
Not at the moment, we unfortunately had a family emergency and had to cut our balkans trip short to head back to the USA!
We definitely want to continue to explore the region one everything settles down though. So we greatly appreciate your recommendations!! We’ll definitely be using them sometime in the future! 😁
Amazing vlog about my city and I'm glad you liked it. I love how this guy reads about history and tells us briefly about the location he is at. That tells me you are interested in a place. Great job
We absolutely adore your city! Sarajevo has a rich history and is such an interesting place. Happy he could share even a bit of that!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave us your kind comment!! It means a lot to us! 🤗
@@IfWeGoTo Beautiful city.
Absolutely!!!
i'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves in my city :D
Oh we loved it!!! Cant wait to go back!!
I'm so glad you like it
likes Sarajevo. But a few tips:
When you come next time, buy a Sarajevo card, because with that card you will be able to ride the cable car for free, visit 13 museums, ride public transport without buying a ticket, you will have a discount on certain foods and many other benefits.
Be sure to find a local citizen who will show you everything, because unfortunately you haven't seen even 10% of what Sarajevo has to offer. We have over 25 museums, many interesting streets that each have their own history, many interesting residential areas, from old Bosnian neighborhoods to modern settlements that can be seen in the West. Also, if you want to go for good and modern shopping, I recommend the following locations and centers:
- Sarajevo City Center (opened in 2014, and KFC was also opened on August 15, 2022)
- Bingo City Center (opened in September 2020, a very nice and large center that also has a CineStar cinema)
- Alta (a modern large center with a beautiful fountain and cafes that have an incredible terrace with a view of the city center)
- Red apple (opened a few days ago. A very modern center, meets absolutely all Western standards, but is also a little more expensive) It is located right next to the Holiday hotel, which has an incredible history and architecture, and you also have a Cineplex cinema.
- If you want to see some beautiful city neighborhoods, I recommend the Bulevar neighborhood (Džemala Bijedića Street, Stup). The settlement has 4 large buildings that light up at night, and there is also a modern city market, DM, ATMs, hair salons, 2 bars, lots of parking spaces, lots of cafes, the building is under video surveillance 24/7. The next neighborhood is Sarajevo Waves (the buildings have a very beautiful and strange shape, there are swimming pools, reception, parks, cafes. It is located in the western part of Sarajevo)
- WestGate (a large shopping center where you can find everything you want. It is located at the very exit from the city at the location Mostarsko razkršće, Western exit from the city)
- OBI (home and garden center. Interesting and different)
- There are many more, but these are one of the best (you've already been to BBI, so you already know what it looks like)
As for hotels, the best hotels for you are Hills, Marriot, Residence, Malak, Holiday, Swissotel, Europa, Bristol and Rotana, first Forester
In addition to trams, you can also use trolleybuses, buses, minibuses, electric scooters, bicycles, taxis and rent a cars.
You must also visit Vrelo Bosne, the tunnel of salvation, the National Museum, the Avaz tower, the national theater
As for restaurants, be sure to go to "Brajlović", located on Ilidža, "near Kibet", located in the Old Town, "Chipas", they have two locations, one next to the cathedral, the other is in the city part of the city, but very very they have a nice building, New York and London style, especially nice for the New Year, "Dragon" in Hrasno...
Greetings from Sarajevo ♥️🇧🇦🥰🏙️🌃
For sure!! We didn’t nearly cover the whole city in this video, so thank you so much for this list of tips!! I hope someone watching this sees them!! Next time we visit we’ll definitely be using this!! 😃
@@IfWeGoTo See you soon in Sarajevo again. WELCOME ALWAYS
PS: But the advice is not to come in winter because of the heavy fog that traps the city. Except for holidays, when the ambiance and atmosphere are beautiful. The best period is summer and during the Sarajevo Film Festival
♥️ ✨Good night from Sarajevo ✨ 🌍
Ahh thank you! Definitely will keep that in mind! Have a great night!
hi I am planning a trip to Bosnia
what about December entertainments and places to visit during snowy season ?
@@noorashabeer7965 Honestly, winter is usually the worst time to visit any Balkan country.
What a beautiful vlog of Sarajevo, honestly I've been sitting here all day trying to find a decent video on UA-cam about Bosnia as I'm visiting next month and loving you guy's showcasing. Just subscribed 🥰
Thank you very much, we're very happy you enjoyed it!! Totally know what you mean, there aren't really many informative videos on it! (we looked before going too! lol)
So exciting that you're going soon, you'll have a great time! Are you just going to visit Sarajevo or do you have more plans?
@@IfWeGoTo Thank you so much guys, it was very informative and as someone who enjoys hikes and walks your video helped a lot with my list. Now watching your Bosnian food tour ❤️
We are also planning for a day trip to Mostar by train and a drive to the Kravica Waterfalls.
@@MacrobianNomad Hikes and walks are really the best way to see a place when traveling!!
Mostar is gorgeous!! Will be perfect as a day trip! And that train ride... wow wow wow! It's beautiful! If we don't post our train video before your trip, try to get to the station & board a little early (like 15-20minutes) and find a seat in row D (left side of the train) for your ride. It has the best views!
Kravica falls looks gorgeous. We didn't make it there! Do you have an instagram or anything you'll post it to??
@@IfWeGoTo omg this is really awesome, thank you ever so much, just made a note of all the tips. Thank you very much honestly. I can't wait to see your Mostar vlog too, really looking forward to it.
Yeah I'm on IG (though I don't post much and only returned last year after five years hiatus) I followed you guys on there too, Iit macrobiannomad 🥰
@@MacrobianNomad You're very welcome!! Hope you enjoy every second of your trip!
Just added you! We don't post a ton either, but love seeing people on their trips!!
Beautiful country.... Loved it ...❤️
Thank you so much!! Very happy you enjoyed it!!
It is such an awesome place... definitely a hidden gem bound to be popular one day!!

Hi!! We’re not sure, it depends on what you’re looking for! but Sarajevo had a lot of nice malls and tourist shops!
Definitely recommend reaching out to a local for the best recommendations though

the most fun i have with your video is not that you have some sort of format, but you ar verry honestly about how food taste!
and i like you as a couple-(love) how you present it, you two do not over dramatic every thing, verry down to earth, and knowble about architecture but not over the top information, nice song choice, how you present it, not like a tv host, but more like a conversation.
keep up the good work !

Thanks for sharing. I'm scheduled to Bosnia next month
Thanks for joining!! Hope you enjoy it! Bosnia is awesome!
An interesting and thoughtful video. The war was brutal. I don't know what it would be like to have something like that happen to your home, but my heart goes out to the Bosnian people. I was teaching English to adults in Vancouver in the early nineties, so some of the refugees joined my class. I heard some harrowing stories. This is the conflict where they first used the term "ethnic cleansing," which is a translation from one of the Balkan languages. It's wonderful to see that Bosnia is recovering, but sad to see so many wars continuing, and the term that shocked us in the nineties become part of the global lingua franca.
Great vlog ! Heading to Belgium soon, going to use your advice thanks !!!
Thank you!! And yes!! If you have any questions I’m happy to help!!!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!

Thank you for not only enjoying the sun and the great culture, but also for telling us about the history and the past... Today all nations and religions live in peace with each other, but if we forget the wars and several genocides against the Bosniaks such as Srebrenica, it's a shame for us, not for the victims... wish you all the best, people with a good heart ❤
Thank you for watching and your kind words. Sarajevo is truly a special city and you're so right - it's necessary to remember its troubled past.
Very nice and comprehensive video showing this beautiful city! One of the best on UA-cam. Thank you! Maybe just to clarify that the Austro-Hungarian Empire occupied Bosnia in 1878, following the Congress of Berlin and formally annexed in 1908. The process of Ottoman withdrawal from the Balkans is messy and complicated, with lots of national independence struggles/conflicts/wars mixed in with an unhealthy dose of Great Power geostrategic competition. It's maybe a bit reductive to suggest that they were pushed out by the Austro-Hungarians. For a great beginners overview of this amazing and fascinating region, I would recommend Misha Glenny's "The Balkans".
Thank you!! Very happy you have enjoyed it!
It's definitely reductive to explain it how we did, but we wanted to keep it as simple as possible! Hopefully people seeking to learn more about the history, which is far more complex than we could put in a video this short, will find your comment! :)
Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video. My Parents are from Bosnia, not from Sarajevo, but i miss sarajevo. I hope to be there soon.

A very good production from two highly empathetic individuals. Word of warning to you both. Your not made for confrontation.
Thank you, happy to hear you enjoyed it!
You’re right, we hate confrontation!
@@IfWeGoTo So what would you do if you were Sarajevo born and the siege came on once again. Would you fight to preserve your city and people?
@@IfWeGoTo Everyone hates confrontation but as the prophet said. You are prescribed to fight even though you may not like it.
@australiaprisonisland9156 I think it’s so hard to say how we’d actually act when put into that situation. I guess it would depend on why a siege occurred and what your options were…

There is an interesting Anegdote about Pigeon Square:
Few years after the war, all the coffe shop owners and small businesses and bazars ordered from city mayor to take care about the Pigeon's in this area because they dropping their business all over the place. So the Pigeon's must leave. The mayor took care of it by installing a kind of disturbing sound wave frequency device on the nearby building. And it had effect, the Pigeon's where gone. Everyone was happy but not for long time. The atmosphere of the place has disappeared and part of tourist's kinda too. At least they didn't stay there for to long. So after a year, the business owners requested to take down the device in hope the Pigeon's come back to the old place. And they did. They conquered their lands again in full glory. Everyone was happy again. They also feed the Pigeon's every morning.
Had no idea about that!! I understand not wanting a bunch of pigeons, but they really did liven up the square.. so I was happy to have them there!
Thanks for sharing this story!!
Bosnia is underated.. beautiful jewl.. whole Bosnia, not just Sarajevo
Agreed!!
thx for visit my city...
Thank you for your warm welcome!! 🙏 🤗
Thank you ❤ I love Sarajevo and you
Thank you very much!! 🤗
you guys did your research
The history there is fantastic!! Definitely worth the time to learn about it!
A debated theory, but there was an important place called Vrhbosna (High Bosnia, Peak of Bosnia) in that area. Ottomans probably just renamed it and claimed they founded it. They tried to reset the country by erasing its medieval culture, destroyed castles, documents, etc. and renamed a bunch of places.
thats an awesome little bit of extra (possible!) history! Definitely going to read more about this. Thank you for sharing it with us!
And definitely not surprising, I feel like theme empires that come through make so many changes through time that it can be easy to lose parts of history!
All are welcome , visit us again ❤❤
Thank you for your warm welcome!! We hope to again soon!

Can you share on what month was your visit? The weather is so sunny
Hi, we visited in summertime! This was filmed around June!
I visit Bosnia because of Mountains and Rivers and really dislike big cities because my job in the States took me just about every major city in US really got tired of big cities. I would love to visit the famous Village in Bosnia called “ Lukomir “ it’s not very far from Sarajevo
Don't blame you for getting sick of the big cities! Bosnia is gorgeous!
On our next visit we will have to see if we can make it to your village - it sounds lovely!!
Also, sorry for our delayed response! We have been away/offline visiting family!
What a great video, thanks for the info. I am visiting Sarajevo in one month 👍🏻
Thank you so much. That is so exciting you will be visiting soon! Have an amazing trip!

Hahaha glad to hear I am not the only one!! It's so uncomfortable to haggle!!

Turkey, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, if you choose a country to travel to, where do you recommend ? I'm really confused about where I should go on vacation
We have not been to Serbia yet, so we can’t speak for that, but I think it depends on what you want to see!
Turkey is larger and more varied because of it. We spent time in Istanbul which has a rich and long history, the city is massive, lots of options and things to do. It’s right on the ocean which is cool too!
Bosnia is smaller and has the smaller city feel, also rich in history but more emphasis on recent. It combines the ottoman and Eastern European/Balkan influences which is best. Sarajevo has beautiful mountains and rivers nearby.
Either way I don’t think you can go wrong, I think it would just depend on the amount of time you have and what you want to see!
@@IfWeGoTo Thank you for your very long reply,!!I will think about it. Looking forward to your next video!

Agreed, we hope to visit again too, it would be really interesting to see the pyramid. Thank you for sharing!!
he's name was Gavrilo Princip
I was horrified when you said he was assassinated on the bridge. But am glad you corrected yourself. His car had to slow down when taking a turn (by the museum), that's when Gavrilo Pricip shot the Archduke and his wife.
Yeah that was our bad! 🙈 we had read that it was on the bridge online, but of course that info was incorrect!! We didn’t know it was because the car slowed down, but that makes sense. Thanks for sharing that bit of information!
Any idea what that "parade" was at 4:48? and where?
It was in Old Town but we have no idea what it was for!

what is the name of the resturant you went to several times?
It was called Klopa! Super delicious!! It’ll be in our 4th Bosnia video!!
@@IfWeGoTo thank you, is that the resturant you can se in the backround in your other video?
I don’t think it’s in the other video! Do you mean the one we ate at and got sour coffee?? Hahaha. If so, I’ll ask Alan the name. Hell remember! :)
@@IfWeGoTo your first video in sarajevo you eat in a place it lokks nice inside in min 8.57 in your first video
@@IfWeGoTo the one where you eat cevapi
oops this time I m late..
Late?! Lol
very sad that you didn't hire me as a tourist guide
Haha OK Tarik. Next time we come back to Sarajevo we will look you up!
Only if u drink water from Bascarsija ,legend said who once drink water Bascarsija the comeback in Sarajevo
The guy is a bit stuck up 😂 enjoy, man! Your gf/ wife is adorable and openminded. Other than that, great video about Sarajevo 🤍
Stuck up? That’s not very kind or necessary to say… he was in a rough spot in life at that point in time and still came out and made the video anyways.
Glad you found some things you enjoyed about it and we do appreciate the kind words, but the unkind ones really take from it…
@@IfWeGoTo It is my observation watching a simple tour video, not a deep psychoanalysis of someone's inner state, come on. If you are going to be on the yt, then you should be able to hear some opinions (it wasn't even a negative one, just an observation). As you might have noticed, I liked several of your videos but yeah chill and have a good day.
@@user-px8qd8dc8o You're watching complete amateurs on youtube. I think it is easy to forget that there are real people behind this that could be experiencing a range of feelings.... and that they will see your comments because they're just people.
We do take your feedback to heart and know it was probably meant with the best intentions.. and we do try really hard to reflect positivity in the videos even if we don't always succeed. (and luckily things that were getting Alan down are now past)
But so you know, calling someone "stuck up" is seen as pretty rude in a lot of places. I think there are more constructive ways to let a creator (or anyone) know that their presentation was off.
Anyways, we do appreciate your support even through a miscommunication. No negative feelings and best wishes. :)

Thanks for all of the extra info!! It helps us a lot!!
As a Bosnian you are first tourist who speaks English to have some sort of Bosnian accent
Really?! We do??
@@IfWeGoTo Its not good but its best I heard from someone who speaks English as their main language
Who knew!! We definitely didn’t think we were pronouncing anything correctly 😂
Actually, Markale is the place you are talking about when it comes to Nato involvement.
Ahhh thank you for correcting us! It's easy to mix up some of the details when researching!
ĆEVAPI eat it! Thats about it.
Well said!! 😋
สวัสดี
Hello!!
The bomb that ended the war was not on this covered market but the markale
Oh, so was it at the second market we visited in the video (which was located a little behind the covered market)?? There was a placard on the outside of the covered market stating it was! A bit confusing!!

stop with the mine stuff... all mine areas are clearly marked, and it covers less than 2% of the total area in Bosnia, and mines are in places where there was front lines.. if you go to tourist spots you dont have to worry about mines
That’s what they warn you about in the travel guides.. and it’s something to be aware of, even if it is not a big problem!!
@@IfWeGoTo of course you should be aware of it, it was a big issue after the war, many people and cattle were injured by them. but like i said everything has been clearly marked years and years ago..most of my family lives there, and i go every year for the past 20 years, never heard of anyone being injured or killed by a mine. they are mainly in forests, where front lines were during the war. i just feel like some people might be hesitant to visit, if they think mines are just scattered everywhere, and there might be possibility they are injured, which has never happened to a tourist. other than that, great video, im glad you guys enjoyed your stay, you've only scratched the surface of the beautiful places and cities in Bosnia and Hercegovina.
That’s good! It wasn’t to scare people, but rather to keep them in the well marked areas. For example, all over Croatia even in tourist areas we noticed areas marked for them!
And for sure, it’s impossible to do Bosnia justice! It’s a great country. Wish we had more time there!

Sorry, what’s this correcting???

I'm a bit confused... we were talking about the 1990s. When did we say it was 500 years ago?

We really did not experience any scams there!! Was quite a safe place in our experience!
Bosnia is greatest country in Europe because people have full freedom and also has unusual laws. For example; you can steal money from the bank and spend 5 years in jail and if accused of prostitution it can get you 10 years in real prison with war criminals. In jail of Bosnia prisoner has a right to two times a week and few hours each time to spend with his married partner in so called “ LOVE ROOM “ they do that because Bosnia respects man’s and woman’s sexual needs and also if you sexually attack someone in jail they can extend your jail time up to 10 years. I heard you have this privilege only in jail and not in prison
Its not fair, to speek lies for Serbs and Serbia. First, you visiting Bosnia.
But great video. All the best.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! As I understand that’s the available history we heard… but if you have any other references to the Serbian history I’d love to read it!
You both need to read lots more, cuz all you said is wrong. You don’t know nothing. And btw video is good, but you are talking all wrong
Thank you and thank you for making us aware! Do you mind telling us what we got wrong? We did do some reading, but it is entirely possible that we didn't get some of the information correct.
I'm not much for watching these videos, I have been to Sajeveo twice, I really like the town, with so much history to learn from.. you two are pretty bad narrating , she is so irritating after every statement she giggles, and him comparing everything with Turkey... you guys are better off staying quite.
If you’re not much for watching these videos…. Why did you decide to watch it and then also take the time to leave a mean comment?
Make your own videos then. I thoroughly enjoyed their video
Thank you for your support!
Welkome to Bosnia i Herzegovina❤
Thank you for your warm welcome!
