spider-man 2 might be the BEST spider-man movie! (reaction)

- In today's video, we react to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 from 2004 with Toby Maguire as Spider-Man and Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. We cry as Aunt May reminds us of our own parent-figures, groan as Pete fumbles the Mary-Jane bag (again) and laugh as J. Jonah Jameson continues to hate everything about us. What movie should we watch next?

"Is she flirting with us or just being nice?" Sometimes I can't tell." We all felt that comment.
😔
Yup
Well come to the male psyche 👏👏👏
Super relatable !! It was fresh hearing it from the perspective of a girl though :D
That aptly describes the first 30 years of my life.
It is such an honor getting to hear you talk about your dad. You are sharing something unimaginably valuable with us.
Thank you for letting me share 🥹

There's a deleted scene where Jameson was in the Spider-Man suit pretending shooting webs in his office 😂😂😂

Fun Fact. During the Train Fight and final fight, every punch Toby threw kept knocking out Doc Ock, but the Arms kept waking Otto up after each punch
Wait what!? Is that canonically confirmed or is it a theory?
Cause I've always asked myself how doc ock didn't get knocked out from spidey punches
@@STierJimmyin the novelization for Spider-Man 2 it mentions how Doc Ock was struggling to stay conscious while fighting Peter
@@mastere7048 dude that is brutal. Poor dude.
Sam Raimi's experience shooting horror films shows during the operation scene when the robotic arms kill the doctors. It's one of the scariest sequences in a superhero film ever.
I was watching that as a kid and got traumatised for like 3 years 😂
Sam Raimi directed Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, which is said to be a horror film.
Fun fact: in the comics, Spider-Man once got hospitalized. The doctors left his mask on out of respect for him and didn’t pry. They also told him he had visitors.
All of New York City showed up to the hospital to thank him and pay their respects for looking after them.

This hits.. especially hard for me. My grandmother passed away around one or two years ago. And... she did this with me all the time. While sick, struggling with cancer, she put my own economic needs ahead of hers. And she would never let me refuse her.
This movie is very personal to me, it's part of my childhood and it has extremely human characters. I've always felt for Toby's Peter and his extended family of characters always felt like people I knew.
“Is she flirting or just being nice? Sometimes I can’t tell.”
Felt that one in my soul
she was just being nice btw.
Ahh stolen comments
This is just every men everytime a girl talks to us.
You talking about your dad and getting nostalgic and emotional is EXACTLY what I hope for when I see people watch this movie for the first time.
This trilogy makes me so nostalgic and puts me back in time, I always think about my mom because she’d watch these movies with me over and over.
Me and my mother were fans of these Spider Man films. Spider Mania in the early 2000s was pandemonium. It was such an era. I was there to witness the popularity of Spider Man. 🕷️🦸♂️
Big shoutout to feeling nostalgia and warmth from "poor food" instead of shame. I aspire to be a parent like your dad.... my kids are 6 and 9, and I feel every word you said.
“Wait is she flirting with us or just being nice?” Story of my life
If I remember correctly, the mechanical arms were not CGI, they were practical.
Yea, puppet hands.
Which is *awesome* !
Both: for as much as they could, they used the puppet arms. But they did use CGI for them when something was too complicated or had to happen too quickly to do with the puppet arms.
So in the comics, the goblin goes from a personality from the serum to an evil spirit. It can manifest through insanity. Harry had went full crazy after finding out Peter was Spider-Man, so the goblin came to him in the form of his father.
Yeah cause he was a fuckin junkie
This was MY movie when I was a kid. Every shot, every line of dialogue, every musical flourish is etched into my brain. What a masterpiece.
@BloodyMunchkin You've seen Spider Man 2 many, many, many times?
@@moisepicard195 ... yes?
Some of the dialogue didn’t age well. Some of it comes out as cringey nowadays tbh
@@Troublesome_96 Maybe some lines here and there, I'm sure. But I don't think overall the writing has aged bad at all.
I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. He seems like such a great person. My father also passed away a couple years ago. My father did something similar to how your father got your camera. Before my father passed, he got me for Christmas a comic book signed by Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan. And now I continue to collect in memory of him
Can’t think of a better way to embrace a romantic moment in the movie than to go for a critical analysis of the lighting
What I love about this movie is that the worst possible things were happening to Peter but it is also the movie where he is at his most badass. He truly outdid himself more than ever and came out better than ever.
Why doesn't Peter just tell MJ that he was in accident when he missed her show, he was fine, but his bike was messed up and he didn't make it to the theater until after the show started? He literally has the broken bike to show her, so it's not like he's even lying to her.
Exactly
Only problem was that Peter came out unscathed and Spider-Man was sighted that night. She might put two and two together
@@sylvester3018probably yea
It's not a full blown lie but it is a half-truth and I think Peter is just a little too honest/noble for his own good.
He literally tried telling her that during the phone call and apparently she wasn’t available enough to show her evidence since she was preoccupied with another man
That speech about your dad was very heartwarming: my mother is disabled, so she has always been quite poor, but she will literally give until shes into the ground.
I'm at university, and literally ate porridge with water for dinner for a week straight: only drinking water too. My mum literally gave me her last bit of money that put her behind on bills and I cried.
Your mother is an angel and I'm sending the two of you so much good energy and love right now 🩷

Thank you for sharing about your dad, that was really special. Just goes to show Aunt May was right. You don't need powers, or a suit. ANYONE can be a hero, they just have to offer a helping hand to someone in need.

Been looking forward to this, and as always babe, you delivered. The qipao looks cute, and with the red hair out, the MJ vibes are in full _swing_ for this video. 😎
...anyway lol
Props to the editor for the appreciative qipao whistle
Loved you being seconds ahead of the Spider-Pizza delivery. Didn't love you having a moment over James Franco, but we can move right along. lol
Don't you dare apologize, that was a very sweet tangent. Your dad always sounds like the best guy. You definitely get your generous heart from him. I'm so glad you have all those nice memories together. ❤️
Everytime you cracked up at Peter, it got me too 😂
Otto and his wife are very cute. The fucking usher at the play, not so much. I'm sure somebody's brought it up already, but that's Bruce Campbell, and he's in every one of these movies in some bit role. Perks of being old friends with Raimi. lol
Sorry, babe, we can't claim Raimi-verse MJ as one of ours 😭
You're 100% right, Raimi got his start in horror, and the arm scene is a whole throwback to his slashery comfort zone
The jumpscare was so good, and the fakeout outro was _perfect_ 😂
You just know those puppeteers were having a great time with Ock's arms *claw pinchies* lol
The train battle is so dope, even all these years later. And same, the moments where you see how much Spider-Man means to people are some of my favorite.
Not you calling Raimi on his kinks in the middle of this big climactic moment... 😂
Right there with you about Otto, and Alfred Molina's fantastic performance. Top-tier stuff.
Another great one, Tofu. Funny as always, and you never fail to elevate the experience with how much of yourself you bring to these. "Is she flirting? I can't tell."
Welcome to manhood.
Hey Tori. ☺️ I just want to say that I love your videos. I also lost my dad suddenly 2 years ago now. I was the one who found him. And I lost my mum 5 years ago too. So it's been really difficult. Idk I just wanted to say that you don't need to apologise for that tangent. It was really sweet of you to think of your dad. And actually allowed me to cry a little bit too. It felt like I had this connection and we were grieving and telling stories together for a little while. I have a hard time accepting what's happened and crying doesn't come as easy- I think because to do so would be accepting what's happened and I don't want to. But I found your heartfelt emotions and compassion and willingness to be vulnerable there to really be amazing and help me too. It allowed me a moment to grieve and think about how my dad would get me little treats and chocolate bars and things, just because. Just to do something nice for me. Idk I'm rambling 😂😅I guess I just appreciate that moment as it was nice to feel like someone gets it and it allowed me a moment to actually cry a bit. Which I think I needed. Thanks. Anyway I hope you're doing well. Grief is a difficult thing and I hope we both can learn to live with it. Best wishes.
19:05 Yes, he absolutely did!!! His very first feature-length film was the iconic “Evil Dead” from 1982 which spawned two sequels (both of them directed and co-written by Sam), a three-season TV series, and two remakes!!
Great reaction, Tofu. I can't even count how many times you had me laughing during that. And you don't ever have to apologize for going off on tangents, least of all about your dad. He sounds like a really good guy. Besides, your tangents and all the rest of your commentary's always entertaining. The qipao and red hair combo looks great on you too.
Looking forward to the next video
The real question I have always asked myself is why Peter choosed to bring Norman Osborn's body home, knowing that given the importance of this man it is a place that is guarded, maybe monitored with cameras, when he could have just made sure to separate it from the Green Goblin costume and put Norman's body somewhere visible, or even make it look like he was killed by the Green Goblin (since the Green Goblin Green killed the members of the Osborn Society Council, it would have been logical for him to go after Norman). So like this, no worries and everything resolves itself, without taking any unnecessary risks.
OR even, let's be crazy, he brings back Norman's body as he does, but he disarms Harry at the end of 1 to EXPLAIN to him that during his fight with the Green Goblin, Norman was present but that he didn't unfortunately not able to save him but that he was able to get rid of the Green Goblin. By showing him and proving that in any case Norman's fatal wound really came from the front of the glider. (even if it's something that Harry should have seen... or at worst the doctors who took care of the body and had to tell him, but despite that he thinks in a totally stupid way that Spiderman would have killed him, and then come and drop off his body at his house, which is totally stupid! For a guy who is supposed to be quite intelligent, that really pissed me off...)
In my opinion, they should have done something different if they really wanted Harry to be angry with Spiderman, because nothing is going well like this and i don't like to see Harry et Peter argue for something so stupid... it's a shame, but hey, that's the only fault of this trilogy!
5:22 Betty was actually Peters first girlfriend in the comics. Classic high schooled romance, dated for a while after Peter became a photographer at the Bugle but they later broke up but remained close friends. They met earlier in the comics, For the film they decided to have Peter get bit at 17 instead of 15 like the comics. And MJ was already a love interest in these films but I guess they hint a little at Betty and Peter flirting in this film.
Peter's first serious relationship wasn't until he started College and met Gwen Stacy who is often regarded as his first real relationship. Then MJ was introduced but they kept her face hidden from the audience until a few years when we the reader met MJ for the first time along with Peter. Pretty crazy looking back that MJ, Harry, Norman, and Gwen were not introduced until Peter started College a few years after his origin comics.
Peter Parker also dated a girl who was introduced in Spider Man: Homecoming who happened to be The Captain of The Debate Team.
Willem Dafoe was never supposed to be in this movie. He just happened to walk by filming crew and Sam Raimi decided to have Willem Dafoe do his little part in the movie
OUT AM I?
I'm glad you did another Spiderman movie reaction from this trilogy. This was everyone's favorite, including mines as well. Its always good to see you back, and its always a pleasure to see your reactions to the movies. Keep up the good work and do what you do best!
Also, I love Spider-man as a superhero because his power level is great for having him be powerful (or super, if you will) but without having to go through absurd lengths to create a threat that can oppose him. He's strong, but his strength has limits. He can get hurt, tired, he can bleed, and it makes him so much more beliveable as a hero you can root for.
(or spider, if you will)
I will never stop enjoying seeing your enjoyment/reactions of these things from my younger years, its so genuine and honest. thank you as always.
this version of spider-man has organic webs in his body, so depending on his physical and mental health it will affect his powers. He never lost them they were just dormant due to mental block but was always there.
Wait until you see the fight and action scenes in Spiderman 3
As ever, Tor, this was a delight to view and a joy to behold. From the always on point editing to your usual sweet, charming, funny, and thoughtful commentary, this was - no surprise - well worth the wait. I've said it before but these videos are genuinely among my absolute favourite content on all of UA-cam. In fact, aside from your gameplay videos, I'm not sure there's anything on this site I look forward to as much as I do your movie reactions.
You know, "Peter's just struggling on, like, every level in his life right now," might be the most evergreen statement one can make about Peter Parker. Sometimes it's not as bad as here, sometimes it's way worse than this, but in both the comics and adaptations, it often feels like he exists wholly to suffer. It can definitely help to humanize him in the face of his powers, but the comics especially can definitely over do it at times. Sometimes you just wanna see a character you like get to be happy, you know? Even if Marvel editorial often seems dead set against any such experiences for Peter.
As for this movie specifically, though, aside from the continued presence of James Franco, there's not a lot I can complain about. I also saw this one in theatres, and while the first will always be important for being the starting point, this one was definitely my favourite at the time. Truth be told, this was probably my favourite superhero movie in general pre-MCU. The returning cast is still great and feel completely at home in their roles, and Alfred Molina as Octavius was such a tremendous addition. Far more than Norman was, Otto is such a tragic character here. He's a good person genuinely trying to make the world a better place, and his life and all his efforts just go up in smoke in the blink of an eye. And Molina does such good job of conveying that sense of hope punctuated by tragedy. You really feel how his situation could just break a man, even without the influence of the arms' AI. I think the biggest strength of these two films is the willingness of both the writing and the cast to take things seriously. At a time where superhero movies often felt like they had to either poke fun at themselves or drain themselves of colour and fun, these movies said, "What if we let Spider-Man wear a colourful, comic-accurate costume *AND* take himself, his emotions, and the danger he and his love ones end up in seriously?" As someone who grew up on the very sincere and earnest Marvel and DC animated shows of the '90s, these two films very much hit a sweet spot for me in that regard that stuff like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Nolan Batman films never came near.
In my comment for your Spider-Man (2002) reaction I mentioned there was a scene in this one that was, "visually one of the most Sam Raimi scenes in any of his Post-Evil Dead films". That, as you could probably guess now, was the (would be) surgery scene. The camera angles, the editing, the screams, the people being dragged into the darkness while their fingernails leave trails in the floor - it's all very Evil Dead - and especially Evil Dead 2 - coded. It was both weird and cool, incidentally, watching Raimi go from Evil Dead to Spider-Man. I assume it was similar to what other people felt watching Peter Jackson go from films like Meet the Feebles and Dead Alive/Braindead to Lord of the Rings. I didn't know about Jackson's earlier work myself until post-LotR, but it's definitely a similar jump in tone and genre.
One last thing, both in private or here and on social media, I'm never sure how best to handle talking about your dad. My experiences with both parents and losing them was... *very* different from what you experienced with your dad, and I always kind of worry about putting too much focus on such a sensitive topic at the wrong time. But I am sure about this, Tor: I love listening to you talk about your dad. It might make my eyes get a touch (or a lot) watery - especially if you get teary-eyed yourself - but it always and without fail warms my heart to hear the love in your voice when you speak of him and to get those little peeks into the beautiful relationship you two shared. My heart forever goes out to you over your loss, Tor, but I'm so glad you got to have the time with him that you did. I can't imagine he'd have traded that time for literally anything in the entire world.
Like I said at the start, this was video was a delight. You are as always fun, insightful, and engaging to watch and listen to, and of course you look absolutely amazing - you know full well what I think of that beautiful natural hair of yours and how lovely that qipao looks on you. I'm very excited to eventually see you revisit No Way Home now that you actually know the Raimi versions of Norman and Otto. Then there's Spider-Man 3... well, suffice to say I have *a lot* of thoughts on that one, and I do look forward to hearing what you think of it yourself. Thank you for this lovely, lovely video, Tor. Whatever movie or game it ends up being, I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next time.
Thanks for sharing those stories about your dad. For those of us with Dads like yours, it meant something, so thanks, and can't wait to see whatever's next!
My condolences to you & it's lovely how you remember your Dad. I lost my mother late in Nov to heart disease & nothing prepares you for loosing a parent, I'm still very numb to it all. Bang, heart attack & now she's sadly gone. I know it will get easier with time

Interesting fact. Tobey actually hurt his back filming the rooftop scene. I'm pretty sure because of it they were thinking of recasting Tobey or holding off on filming
I think it might’ve also been because he was making the movie Seabiscuit.

I like this even better than the first one, honestly.

Another insta-watch, right when I needed a good video too. There's just so much humanity in these films, even if it's cringe-inducing or awkward. But life is awkward and messy like that. Aunt May, Octavius and his wife, absolutely love just seeing them act like humans. And of course, your stories always add so much to the reaction, we stan tangents here on this channel :')
Fun fact from the official Spider-Man 2 graphic novel: during the scene where Doc Oc fights Peter on top of the building he kept losing consciousness but the arms kept waking him up. Remember, Otto is just an average man while Peter is super-human. Same goes for the train scene. Peter was hitting Otto so hard that even the arms began to feel pain which is why they decided to sabotage the train so they could get away. Peter's Spider-man was a straight menace!
I lost my dad about 7 years ago. Both of my parents were the same way in that they always made sure I had what I needed and sacrificed for it. Life has a way of teaching you lessons and missing the people that treated us well when they're gone. I like to think that my dad is in a better place where he doesn't have to struggle any more. I hope your dad is there with him too.
That story about your dad was absolutely brilliant. Much love💙

@NowakP That is really cool.
You’re so authentic. I love it, and if there’s ever any doubts as a human being I think I can say we all love you. You’re not alone, and never on your own. I’ve dealt with being broke, and in fact was homeless part of my life.
this is my favorite movie of all time, been watching it for as long as I can remember. In recent years I've transitioned from having fun watching the action scenes to absolutely falling in love with the story. Lately I can't watch it without crying at least once, depending on my mood I'll sometimes find myself crying multiple times throughout the whole movie. The story resonates with me so much in so many ways and means more to me than I could ever express. Im so glad to see people discovering how incredible this movie is!

First off: excellent thumbnail image choice. You nailed it.
Second off: excellent outfit choice. Big fan.
Third off: YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR? My mind is blown.
Glad you got around to watching yet another one of my childhood favorites. In a world where comic book films have started to become a little paint by numbers, its refreshing to see a movie like this that has such a unique style, thanks to Raimi, and his horror background. I love those elements. I love the fights. Today those fights would have been much larger and crazier but I appreciate how scaled back but still impactful these ones are. Also, anytime I hear Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head I instantly think of this movie. Every time.
This was a fun video, as usual, but the insert shot of you falling in Insomniacs Spider-Man 2 was *chefs kiss*. Great inclusion lol. I also really loved that you were so dedicated to the bit that you actually closed out of the movie. You easily could have faked it but no, you really did it.

24:20 No. Stop it. Bad Tori.
Great video as always. Looking forward to seeing you watch Spider-Man 3, and more of that Spider-Man 2 playthrough!
Childhood movie right here... It feels a bit strange to me that this movie is basically *20* *years* *old* now...
This film legitimately has some of the absolute best and most heartfelt and memorable moments in the ever expanding genre of superhero movies... From Peter Parker trying to deliver pizzas as Spider-Man, to the entirely original Mr. Ditkovitch landlord character (who wasn't even in the original comics...) who's constantly asking for his rent, to the horror hospital scene with Dr. Otto Octavius and his robotic octopus arms, to the entire bank fight scene between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, to the references to the "Spider-Man: No More" storyline directly from the comics, to the "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" scene, to Peter Parker saving a little girl from a burning building without his powers, to the small sweet scene where Ursula offers Peter a piece of chocolate cake, to Aunt May's motivational speech scene where she talks about how everybody loves a hero, to the hilarious scene where Peter tries to get his powers back but he just ends up breaking his back, to the scene where Peter *does* finally get his powers back and he's fully back in action again as Spider-Man => 34:27, to the entire train fight sequence between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, to this little moment right here => 35:23, to Spider-Man stopping the runaway train before it plunges into the New York Harbor and the train passengers helping him out and promising to keep his identity a secret right afterwards, and all the way up to the final swing that ends the movie => 42:15. Just... *so* *much* to remember about this *iconic* movie...
This movie definitely has a *lot* of my favorite moments in a superhero movie and it definitely holds a special nostalgic place in my heart along with the Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in video game on playstation 2 that released the day before this movie came out.
I *really* enjoyed this reaction commentary Tofu and I'm *so* glad you were entertained and enjoyed the movie too.
I've been actually going back to watch your gaming play-throughs recently. So when this popped up, I was like, 'Hell yeah!' Love your content! Also, don't ever feel like you need to apologize for stopping and talking about your dad. For me personally, it's very touching to hear you speak about him. I lost my dad when I was 19, about 8 years ago, from suicide, and the pain sometimes is so fresh it feels like it just happened. It will get better though. Also, not sure if you were joking about the autism thing, but for someone like me with high-functioning autism, I'm always on the lookout for people who are similar. Anyway, gonna go back to your Tales from the Borderlands play-through. Will be back for the next movie review! Thanks again for everything you do 🤗

I love that you brought up the ladies and their FANTASTIC screams. That’s actually very common in Sam Raimi movies. He is a sucker for a great scream. It’s one of the small details that make this movie fantastic :)
This reaction was so much to watch for me, seeing you remember your father reminded me of my mixed Asian friend when she described her father in a similar way. She has such a good heart, and it was disheartening to see how much that’s hurt you both.
“Didn’t Raimi do horror movies?”
Absolutely yes he did. You need to watch the evil dead series
Another amazing reaction Queentofu ❤❤😀😀.
"Real-life footage of me playing Spiderman" then backing it up with real footage made me laugh so goddamn hard.
Nice cosplay.
You looks really good as redhair, i think you should stay like that.
Hugs from Spain and may the force be with you.
I love your vids! please do continue on having fun while doing your videos, you got our support. I'll support this channel no matter what:))
Tofu, I've been enjoying your reaction vids! You talk a lot about the use of color and lighting. Have you done film studies in the past? BTW you nailed MJ's hair color 😍
Sorry about your dad. I loved his work he had to be a great man to raise such a great daughter.
R.I.P Papa Tofu. He’s watching over you at all times, especially when you need it ❤
19:05 Raimi did do horror movies before, not only that but after the success of the first spider man movie a lot of the die hard horror movie fans complained and said Raimi sold out and went mainstream so he did that hospital scene to let the fans know he still got it
if i'm not wrong, the Norman Orsborn has schizophrenia, so Harry Osborn had it as well, that's why Norman and Harry have this halucinations where they talk to someone o something that doens't exist, so basically they are a little crazy
So good to see you! Hope things are going well for you ☺️
This is why I think this version of spider man was the best. They should how hard his childhood was and in this movie it showed that for spider man to live Peter Parker had to die!
Love how honest and true that you are haha, unlike other UA-camrs who pretend to be innocent lol, definitely need to follow you on Twitter to keep up with your personality
I appreciated your brief interlude about your father. I miss my own father a great deal too and I like telling people about him. Similar stories of what a great guy he was. Sharing something from your heart like that should never be apologized for. In a way it's very appropriate for a Spider-man reaction because Peter's "father" was such a wonderful influence on him.
That story you told about your Dad is so touching. I'm sorry for your loss. This is still my favourite Spider-man movie. A big part of it is Dr. Octopus who was brilliantly portrayed in the acting and action sequences. That entire train sequence is iconic.
My condolences for your dad, sounds like a great guy
It's no doubt the best Spider-Man movie ever made and arguably one of the greatest comic book movies of all time.
In the light novel for the film theres a part where peter was fighting otto in a apartment and his punches were knocking him out but his arms were keeping him conscious
Masterpiece of a movie.
28:18 Others: What a heartfelt moment...
Tofu: This effin Gusher!🤣
Widely regarded for years to be one of the best super hero movies of all time & It still has to be on the edges of that conversation but it is without doubt a great Peter Parker movie. The train sequence took almost 2 years to fully complete & it's still as thrilling today 🥰
I’m so sorry about your dad I loved hearing about your dad he sounded like such a sweet person
not me crying when you were talking about your dad...... i'm seriously so so sorry for your loss
I am, I am an Octopus. I am an Octopus, Dr. Raymond!
Whenever I'm watching a movie and there's a cool transition I think to myself "Ooooh Queen Tofu would like that transition"😂😂
Hey that guy dating MJ is THEE one and only Elijah Mikaelson! Lmao
Yes, the most badass vampire.
@@DJZ64X You think he should portray Morbius?
To the loss of your dad, there's a saying we'd repeat at my old church when we would talk about those we've lost: "Those who are remembered, live."
Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2 is still one of my favourite renditions of the character a lot closer to his trench coat wearing Ultimate universe (Earth-1610) version just without the slick chrome arms connected to a device around his waist, again not too different to the one in this movie. In the Ultimate universe the metal strap around him was burnt into his waist skin after a lab explosion in Oscorp. In the Earth-616 universe, Marvels Mainline Universe. Otto became Doc Ock during an atomic research project, Octavius' body was fused to four mechanical, tentacle-like arms, also causing him severe brain damage that turned him into a criminal.
In terms of arms in the movie they went for the more classic version in this aspect. In concept art for Spider-Man 2 there was one design which looks a lot like the Ultimate version of Doc Ock. You'd honesty really love Ultimate Spider-Man, written by a single writer Brian Michael Bendis so the overall tone and themes stay the same throughout the comics. Side characters were giving the spotlight and random background characters would over time become side character who actually mean something to the story, felt like a Spider-Man High School drama show tbh. It does put some interesting spins on some characters along with unique changes and storylines, Ultimate Universe was like a re-imagined and modernized continuity, beginning with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000 so the writers were free to change whatever they wanted while also take risks as well. This is also the universe Miles in the comics originated from who later takes up the mantle of Spider-Man, introduced in 2011.
JJJ is of course really over the top which I personality love there's a scene in Spider-Man 2.1 (8 extra minutes of scenes) of him wearing the Spider-Man suit jumping around as Spider-Man in his office which was cut in the original cut but i loved the scene both in the comic's and in the movie he hates Spider-Man remember an EP of the 1990s Animated Spider-Man series where they dived into why he hated Spider-Man and it was very emotional.
Like other have mentioned these films have alot of connections to Sam Rami's other work. Bruce Campbell the actor who played the Wresting speaker in Spider-Man 1 also played the Door man in this film. Bruce played Ash in The Evil Dead Sam Rami's first real film, both Sam and Bruce were at College together. Bruce also played Ash in Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness all directed by Sam Rami. Two great friends so i guess Sam just goes "Hey Bruce want to randomly show up in my Spider-Man films" lol he also narrates the Spider-Man 1 and 2 games. Also the car own by Uncle Ben a Honey Beige 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 is the same car from Sam Rami's Evil Dead. It also appeared in Evil Dead 2, Darkman, Army of Darkness, and Drag me to Hell. Believe the car was owned by Sam Rami at the time of Evil Dead in 1982 or belonged to his father either way it's a very important car to Sam.
To this DAY that train fight is still the best 1v1 superhero fight.
The drawings in the opening were done by legendary comic book artist Alex Ross, who's art is very painterly and photo real.
Off topic to the movie here but your story reminded me of my struggles in life. There was a time when I could barely afford to feed myself and my parents were always there to help even when I knew they didn’t have much either.
I said something similar when your dad passed, I really get it. Lost my dad in '01 and it's still hard. Much love to you Tori. Also, loving this reaction to the old school Spider-Man movies!
Wow. Your dad spared no expense for you. Taylor guitar. Nice! He truly loved you. Thanks for sharing the story. I relate to your broke college days 😢
Harry’s slaps to Peter at the party definitely did negative damage and probably looked liked they were coming at him in slow motion
But Harry was still Peter's friend at that point, his spider sense wouldnt have registered him as a threat
@@jok86er That maybe true but Spider-Man’s spider sense isn’t sentient so much as extremely augmented reflexes. His perception would still cause him to see the slap in slow motion similar to Flash Thompson punches in the first movie, because honestly friend or foe flash wasn’t a threat either.
