7:25 if you look at the bottom left, you'll see you were temporarily up-leveled to 80 so you could participate in the event :) you'll def be weaker compared to "real" lvl 80 characters with full gear, but strong enough to contribute. Generally if you see an event in a lower level zone you can kinda expect to be able to join in
Well now, definitely something I didn’t notice while playing or editing lol Thanks for the info! Will definitely try it out if it pops up on another character ^^
I have a sylvary mesmer, and I must say, that salad that duplicates when let out of the fridge, should be handled carefully, and most certainly shouldn't be tasted!
btw, there is an "Action Camera" option available if you wanna make the combat purely action based. here's how to toggle it: Press ESC > click on Options > Click on the Control tab (The mouse icon) > Scroll down to the "Camera" section > Assign a key to "Toggle Action Camera" > Press the key. And there ya go, game's combat's now action-based with some light targeting involved
Action Camera? Is that like actually using your mouse to aim rather than just hitting the buttons in a tab target sense? If so, that takes the point I made about it being a mix even further than I realized lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Even with normal camera there are plenty of abilities that are not directed to your target automatically, so some aiming is required. You already know about your Warrior's Greatsword Whirlwind Attack, for example.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Ive played this game since beta and never even knew about action camera mode. Tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and am absolutely hooked. It basically ties your camera frame to your mouse, and tethers most of your skills to automatically hit "what you're looking at". It's actually incredibly satisfying and intuitive imo
as someone in the same boat as you, i cant describe how accurate this video is, i recently started the game as well with it launch in steam, and im almost at the end of the core game story going into the expansions, not only is the game great but as far as i seen i had such an amazing time talking to other players as well they were so helpful and chill i even remember swimming my way to a quest and met 2 players who are practicing ship sailing and joined them, it was such a little interaction but also so fun as exploring the map meeting people and having a character that feels like a real role you can play, the backstory the voice acting the choices and it impact on the story direction and so many more, i love ffxiv lore but the fact that in this game we are the ones who calls the shoots instead of mindlessly following quests is so awesome, i can go on to infinity with how much im loving the game but i still feel like that wont be enough, though i havent spent much time yet into the game the joy im having so far, is far too good to be describe 😄
I also found out more things about GW2 in the comments here. I want to experience the story in order as well and found out that that section in your character sheet called Hero’s Legend or something like that, the order of tabs in it is the order for the story. And thank you, glad to see a fellow XIV player experiencing this alongside me ^^
@@MegaMadVladMMO no problem im looking forward to seeing more of your videos mate as we both play the game and venture through it, honestly its awesome to experience an immersive mmo and be new to it, i also joined many discord servers some really help i recommend you check them out most of the veterans of the game do community event there teaching new players, again looking forward to newer content mate and thanks for the amazing video keep it up mate
Welcome to Tyria! My favourite thing about GW2 is the horizontal progression. I can take long breaks from the game and not worry about falling behind stats-wise. :)
The Mesmer class is what really caught my attention in GW2. I hadn't heard of an illusion focused class in an MMO before so it was really exciting to try out and remains my favorite ~8 years later (though all classes are pretty cool).
there is a class in everquest 2 that has the illusion theme. It is about CC, buffs, some overcomplicated triggered damage dot that are not dot for dps and pet management. I play almost exclusively mesmer in gw2, I've done all the pve with it and it's the only class with I can pull out sheananigans in pvp.
Been playing FFXIV since ARR release and I gotta tell you if I hadn’t already started playing GW2 you woulda sold it to me. The game is unlike anything else I’ve played. It’s definitely completely different to any other MMORPG I’ve played and you’re 100% right in that you get a true adventurer feel for playing this game. From discovering landmarks via points of interest, getting hero points via challenges rather than just naturally through levelling up (though you do get some this way too) and seeing the sights via the Vista system, GW2 truly is an incredible MMORPG.
It’s definitely a different experience to what a typical MMO is in how it plays. That’s probably its biggest strength right there. It’s not flawless of course, but what game is? Experiencing different types of games in similar genres is what really adds to gaming as a whole lol
I just started 15 days ago, come from 11 years of WoW taking a couple breaks since 2006 quitting in 2020 about 2 years total in FFXIV. Loved all the extra things you could do compared to WoW. This is like all of those extra aspects improved and that being the point. It's so alt/ new player friendly. Not to say there isn't an overwhelming feeling at times. But I wish i would have tried it sooner, love the art direction. For me the combat got much better with the action camera mode, although i started with tab target since that is what i am most used to, but having the toggle on Left Alt for me is super intuitive. Enjoyed the video.
From the comments here, I'm literally just now finding out about this Action Camera lol Something I'll definitely have to try myself for sure. I've also got 2 years of FFXIV under my belt lol Started August 2020. Thank you ^^
@@MegaMadVladMMO Do try! While not always most optimal in certain situations like PvP or WvW, it elevates the already fantastic combat and makes it way more visceral and investing. You'll probably never go back to tab target only (I know I didn't since its introduction in 2015)
@@MegaMadVladMMO put it on mouse wheel click, you have to mix your combat with action cam it's perfect but it's bad for ape skills like your Hammer F1 skill. So the secret is, go combat in action camera and deactivate it to use your AOE skills like hammer F1 and press the key to get action cam right away
Hey, just seen this video from algorithm suggestion; very happy and glad to have new players around! It's a joy to see new people are enjoying the game I love. Been playing this since 10 years: the content you've showed is actually from those times. Believe me that your mind will be blown when you'll actually reach the many endgame chapters that are available now. Good luck and happy gaming!
3:14 "I was very surprised to see that my character actually has a voice!" Not just any voice, it's Nolan fucking North! aka Nathan Drake aka Desmond Miles (also Mhenlo from GW1)
Welcome to the game! If you are enjoying the base game, it only gets better from here. Living World and the expansions bring a lot more different stuff and improve the open world design even further.
Honestly the community is what keeps me playing. No monthly fee . None of my gear gets nerfed. Too many positives. The more you play the easier it is the level alts and experience new gameplay.
4 accounts and over 4500 hours collectively played, and I can confirm it scales really quickly. First character on the account can take some time to get to 80 since you don’t know what all to expect, but I just did a 1-80 on a newer account in around 10 hours. Plus the more you play the more gear and currency you’ll get to gear alts, etc. Lots of fun awaits you guys!
7:26 you get level scaled up for that event which depending on your gear, can actually make you stronger than someone who is at cap, since they do not expect you to have good gear while leveling. Outside of WvW, there are very few events that do this though.
Same mechanic also reduces your level if you are 80 and go into a lower level zone. You can see this on the bottom left. Your current level is 28 in white, but you are a little high for the area you are in, so it reduced you to 22, shown in green with down arrow When you went through the portal it jumps to 80, again in green with up arrow You may be higher level, but the gear and limited skills still makes you weak, the fight will still be harder than if you were actually 80 with proper gear.
As a lower leveled player your gear stats are substantially lower then actual lv80 gear. Your personal level gets scaled up and not your gear. So you'll see that players with higher natural level and better gear will be substantially better than someone that's just scaled up. This also works in reverse. Better geared players in low level areas will do noticeably more dmg even though they are scaled down.
Oh and importantly...... CURRENTLY Living Story Season one is being released after quite a few years because at the time they were making the story dynamic and one and done. So if you missed it you couldnt replay it. But this year they were finally able to work out a way to bring it back to the game in a style that all other LW stories are done. BUT the last chapter is not yet out.... We only just had a chapter come out 2 weeks ago.... SO if you get all the way up to living world story season 1 and then go into the next chapter of season 2 you might feel a little disconnected..... It is ok tho =-) I hope that made sense!
@@MegaMadVladMMO Indeed. But don't rush to get to LW Season 1 take your time LOOK at the world explore it.... I started on the 3 day headstart and EVERYONE was rushing to get through it..... I now see things that I never saw on the first play through!
LW definitely sounds like an interesting concept for sure. It definitely helps to explain why GW2 doesn’t have more expansions lol Looking forward to it!
@@MegaMadVladMMO it ‘was always there’ but its only since End of Dragons that we can actually see it in GW2 I believe that Guild Wars 1 starts on that continent
Lol I meant moreso was it on the map before or after End of Dragons. Though if GW1 was on that continent, that’s an interesting lore bit I didn’t know about
@@MegaMadVladMMO im not an expert on GW1, but i believe its basically split into 3 campaigns, each being their own stand-alone-game (but with 1 character across all three being a thing), one of these three games: ‘factions’ plays on that continent i think
Welcome! There are so many tips I could give but I'll settle for these: 1) right click (instead of left click) the chests you get above your mini map, most of them will open directly and let you skip a click. 2) you can pull up the wiki from in game by writing "/wiki" and then pressing enter. You can pull up the event timer with "/wiki et" and you can pull up a specific item on the wiki by adding text or linking the item, for example "/wiki tome of knowledge". 3) Use the "deposit all materials" option in your inventory to send all the mats you have currently on you to your material bank, from any place in the world. Cya in Tyria!
Cool! Great to see and hear the play and view of new players in GW2. Looking forward to your journey. I started 9 yrs ago, and love it. I'm part of a PVE guild and a WvW guild, European servers, but we've made one guild to go NA to play wvw.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Are you on EU or US server, or at least have joined a guild? U also have to check out what servers that are available. The more they cost to transfer the more peeps are on. But if you wanna change server, you might get it for free, if you send a mail to support. Specially in the beginning, people choose wrong server or guildmembers are on another server etc.
I'm sure you've learned by now if you're still playing but: 10:00 pause here ish. The blue bar under the "champion war beast's" health pool is referred to as a break bar, it's like a cc specific health pool that receives damage from hard cc skills and cc debuffs(conditions). When it's emptied the boss critter that you're fighting will be stunned for a few seconds and usually take increased damage for the duration. Also, another thing to note is that your skills that count as cc or innately apply cc condition effects will flash white with a white border. You can this on the 5, 7, and 8 skills on your action bar. For any other new players I'd recommend looking up guides that cover boons/conditions "buffs/debuffs" as boon can double your damage, save you from cc, and prevent 1 shots from killing you while conditions function in a unique manner in gw2. Some conditions build up in stacks, commonly referred to as intensity, and others in duration. A gw2 specific youtuber who has quick and too the point videos covering this is KuklukUA-cam.
If you liked WvW, hop on during a weekend night and just join any one of the many zerg groups running. Absolutely wild ride and incredibly fun. I've been playing WvW almost exclusively since launch and have always been amazed at how easy it is to jump into, but how insanely nuanced the strategy and tactics get. It truly is a "play at your own pace" sort of thing.
@@MegaMadVladMMO The other thing to keep in mind for WvW is that there are 4 maps for the mode - 3 borderlands and the Eternal Battlegrounds. It may be that you had people playing there, but they were on a different map at the time. Look for any queues to get in a specific map - it is usually worth waiting in queue to get on the busy map.
@@irispounsberry7917 oh yeah that's a good point. A big part of the meta strategy for the game mode is groups finding maps under-populated by enemy factions and hitting them there while the defenses are weak.
belated welcome =) i really enjoyed this video, grateful for getting it on my front page ^^ one minor note: if you are doing the story path of a dungeon and someone is watching a cutscene, the dungeon can NOT be progressed while the cutscene is still happening. doors wont open, bosses wont spawn. if you are a new player, dont feel pressured in skipping those cutscenes for your teammates and dont be scared you are left behind. they literally cant leave you behind =D
Thank you for watching! ^^ Oh interesting! I definitely didn't know about that. Haven't really done too much in the dungeon scene due to limited time, but that's a bit of a burden lifted off of me. Experiencing the story is something I definitely like to do lol
Welcome to Tyria and the new map below it (Cantha)! Hoping you will enjoy more of GW2 as you progress. Been playing this game on and off, and honestly this is the only MMO that keeps me on coming back. Is it the genre, the play style, the music, or perhaps the people in it. Either way, have fun and again welcome to GW2!
As a - at this point - decade-long Tyrian, there is so much to talk about, but I shall refrain from it (unless you have questions. If you do, ask away!) However, a quick note about the music. Guild Wars 2 has had a handful of composers over the years. Pretty much like this: For the main game, meaning everything present at release, Jeremy Soule was the lead composer. If you walk through what we call "Core Tyria", you'll most likely hear his music. For The Living World Season 1 and 2, Guild Wars 2's first and second respective episodic Mini-Expansions, as well as the Festivals, there were three main Composers: Stan LePard, Maclaine Diemer, and Lena Raine/Chappelle. For Dragon Bash, the annual festivity celebrating our Victory over the Elder Dragons, Matthew Moore wrote the soundtrack, and Keenan Sieg - a technical designer at Anet - wrote one piece for Gw2's Super Mario 3D, the Super Adventure Box, which also has an annually observed festival of the same name. For the First Major Expansion, Maclaine Diemer did most of the composing, with Stan LePard and Lena Chappelle helping out. Diemer also composed the Raid Soundtracks. For L(iving) W(orld) Season 3, Maclaine Diemer did all of the work as far as I'm aware. As for the 2nd big Expansion, Path of Fire, again Maclaine Diemer did most of it, being joined by Wilbert Roget, Stan LePard, and Brendon Williams. LW Season 4 was mostly Diemer together with help from Williams and Chappelle. Then came the Icebrood Saga, technically also part of the Living World, though a bit different than other, prior episodes. Here, Stan LePard really got to shine, he was joined by Maclaine Diemer as well as Garry Schymann, Brendon Williams, and Bryan Atkinson. Now comes the Third Expansion, End of Dragons, and this is a bit special. It is set around Cantha, a Continent that draws a lot from Asian and particularly Korean styles, and thus, the music was made to reflect that. In addition to Maclaine Diemer once again taking to lead as a composer, he was joined by many artists from both the US and South Korea who helped him incorporate traditional Korean instruments into his themes. These include Bryan Atkinson, Lena Raine, Andi Roselund, Michael Choi, Sojin Ryu, and Steve Pardo, as well as Joyce Kwon who sings the end credits song "A world without you". If you walk around Tyria, you will find some references to our composers. For example, on the Cursed Shore map, you can find a character called "Maklain the Minstrel", who also lends his name to Ascended Minstrel's gear. Another, rather more sad tribute can be found in Lions Arch. Southwest of the Crafting Hub (the giant sea star) you can find a statue of "Van Leopard", which can be interacted with to play several tracks all composed by Stan LePard, to whom Van Leopard is a reference. Sadly, Stan LePard passed away in early 2021 at the age of 64. The statue was erected soon after in remembrance of one of Tyrias greatest Musicians, the inscription reading "A musician of Immense Skill and Passion, Van Leopard penned many of Tyrias greatest hits". May he rest in peace.
Oh that’s really interesting to hear! For ongoing games, it’s not unheard of to see the score being helmed by a few people rather than just 1. Video game music is almost always amazing because it’s led by some of the most talented people in general. Ah, rest in peace.
Yeah, I returned with 5 new players. After 6 years away, game has so much content now. Has its bad things I could make a long list, but overall quite enjoyable.
Like most other games in the genre, the game REALLY opens up at max level. In fact, it can be a little overwhelming just how many different things you're able to do. The pvp is amazing, wvw is super fun, the story is REALLY good (lw3,pof,lw4 are my favs). Gold farming, soloing champs, masteries. I could go on forever, but most of all, please enjoy the open world. No other MMO has an open world, full of life like GW2 does :)
I obviously only have 1 mount in the game so far but I love the fact that they added gameplay to it and changed it up from the MMO staple of just normal mount riding lol
wait until you see SHARED ACCOUNT PROGRESSION. YES THAT'S RIGHT. Your achievements and any items (aside from soulbound ones) will be accessible to ALL of your characters in the account. Such a revolutionary way to distance themselves from other MMOs while at the same time giving the players the option to play multiple characters without having to worry about starting new from literal 0.
The best in slot items are all account wide and any legendary item goes into your legendary Armory, meaning you have access to that one legendary item on every character that can equip it - simultaneously.
I also just started playing a few weeks ago. There’s several music pieces that hardcore reminded me of TES 4 oblivion… now I know why lol. I hope you continue enjoying the game :)
This is the best MMO imo..the great thing about it is there's always something to do and gear is relevant throughout the game. With the introduction of the legendary armory you can basically use one weapon for all characters.I'm a legendary hoarder and almost done with a full legendary set.Just trinkets and one more lege ring to make.Raids and CMs provide challenges, there's collections and so on. Level 80 is just the beginning, have fun 😀
I've played since alpha, have like 6 100% done characters lol ALways glad to see new players enjoying it, art/voice/music are the high points and as a lore/story person I'll say this ina non spoiler way, the story from start through the recent end of dragons is the most cohesive and thought out nuanced story I've ever experienced in an mmo, ff14 is great but I feel it at times minorly diverges often but gw2 was like "this is the story, now it's done" lol
I’m definitely looking forward to experiencing more of the story overall. From everything I’ve heard, it picks up quite a bit past the base game and that’s something that I’m eager to see lol
I’ve been playing since just after release. I love everything about this game! As you mentioned, the music is phenomenal too! You’ll love the expansions!! Just take your time through the story instead of just plowing through to get to the next thing. The achievements are SO much fun (talkin bout you Hungry Cat Scavenger Hunt) and give you fun small goals if you can’t think of what you want to do.
One small but important detail is also that when playing the story instances with others you have the option to share the progress. Which feels much more natural in comparison to for example ESO where you can only play the story in parallel.
@@MegaMadVladMMO You can join any story instance regardless of the race. But the progress can only be shared if you or any friend that joins needs the current story mission. So the feature is primarily interesting in the living world or addons where the story path is more linear, or for later chapters of the core game where the story is the same regardless of the race.
If you liked this music, also check out this version "Guild Wars 2: Fear Not This Night 2018 - Maclaine Diemer". He is composing the music of gw2 for the expansions and he sang this version himself :)
Yo, Maclaine did some superb songs for all expansions. The current character selection screen songs are so good that sometimes I idle there just to hear it.
As a quite new player, human ranger, noble, I also just discover my sister is alive, not two days ago. It was quite emotional as how all the dialogue and the assignments lead up to that, and I almost feel it was a spoiler you just blurted it out. 😉 What both my kids and I love the most about this mmorpg, is the freedom to explore, and the ability to play for real for free! I have bought the expansions but my sons play a single character for free and are quite far in. Compared to back in WoW, where they could only go max lvl 10 for free, and they were stuck to doing the same quest over and over again, because they don't play enough for me to have three (expensive) subscribtions. They don't play enough gw2 either (yet) to buy it. But perhaps they will, we are having quite the time fighting side by side. The downlevelling system that enables that is ingenious! Oh, and is the fighting system! The way you can move and dodge, and hit with aim alone, instead of just stand there with a boringly timed swing to your selected target. Brilliant fun! Only ting I will say is that somehow you need to intentionally work to keep the game uncomplicated, because with the absolute myriad of possibilities, it very quickly will be, and analysis paralysis looms around every corner. I've had some pants in my inv now for several lvls, that I still can't decide if I would wear! 😉 Great video, this. Great game, in so many ways.
Yeah, sorry for the slight spoiler. I did need an example to take the point further but I didn’t say anything further than that lol I’m glad you’re enjoying gaming with your kids! ^^
@@MegaMadVladMMO i think the world looks good, and the community online seem friendly, more so than wow but about the same as GW2. The story was an awful lot of fetch quests early on, drove me mad travelling everywhere to click something but picked up later on. The dungeons are excellent, i am not sure i like HAVING to do them to play the story however, although you can use npcs for about 2/3 of them if you wish. Overall it is a very different experience, i think i prefer GW2 overall, but can see the appeal of ff14
Yeah they’re both different beasts for sure. GW2 has been a far different experience than I was expecting, in a good way. FFXIV takes a Final Fantasy first, MMO second approach. Sure having the dungeons be mandatory in the MSQ is different from how GW2 does it, but it’s all for the story and experience. FFXIV is definitely one of the best stories in video games I’ve ever experienced. It didn’t truly reach that point, for me, until Shadowbringers. However, it wouldn’t have hit that point without taking the time through all the previous stories lol I’m about to get into Heart of Thorns for GW2. Definitely looking forward to seeing the new things they implemented like the gliders. Also how the story goes because LWS2 has one hell of a teaser for it lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yep i have just finished ARR and im on the quests between arr and heavansward, the story has definitely gone up a notch. The first expansion is divisive on gw2, some love it- others felt it was too difficult. I liked it Your first encounter with pocket raptors will be interesting :) I think the gw2 storytelling picks up with POF myself. Good luck!
Lol Yeah, the story is the selling point to FFXIV. Hope you enjoy it! I think the biggest thing I’m looking forward to in PoF is Griffinriding lol Looks very fun!
I just found your Dragon's End video in the series and was ecstatic! My situation is the opposite: I'm a GW2 veteran (from launch) and just recently got into ffxiv (about 7 months ago now) thanks to watching Laranity's streams (she mainly plays GW2). I thought I'd never touch it because of the sub fee, and regardless of how good a game may be it's something hard for me to excuse mostly because of how I play (not often. Very chill, slow. So upkeeping a sub sounds like a money drain). Plus I always had GW2, no sub fee, gorgeous game. Who'd need anything else? Well what do ya know, I adore ffxiv. A complete blast a very much worth it. GW2 and ffxiv are such different games but for me they have very similar spirits/vibes. I love ffxiv, but GW2 will always be the mmo love of my life. Hence It's such a blast to watch these, ty for making them!
I've seen a few others that did the same as you lol. GW2 to FFXIV. The opposite of what I did. It's always interesting to see people's thoughts going the opposite direction. Yeah while the sub fee can definitely be a barrier of entry into FFXIV, one thing I do bring up to people asking about the game is the incredibly generous free trial it has, now spanning the base game and first 2 expansions. Though I also do say to those people to make absolutely certain they have the free trial version downloaded. If they buy any part of the game, they're immediately locked out of the free trial for that account. It's a bit of a mess lol And thank you for watching! ^^
If you got hooked on the core game, you’ll love the expansions. The only word of caution I’d give is to pace yourself. There is a fire hose of content at level 80 and it can be overwhelming if you try to do it all at once.
The further you go into expansions, the better it gets, as is usually also the case with FF14. Do be wary, a lot of crucial story content is in the living world seasons + icebrood saga. If you get into the expansions without playing those, you'd be having a tough time figuring out who certain characters are and why they have ended up where they are, and certain important story beats will be lost. If you are looking to buy the expansions, the steam version has a complete collection, which includes all the living world seasons + icebrood saga together with the expansions. It does cost quite a bit, but that's the price we've all paid for a non-sub MMO.
Yeah I purchased everything in the bulk package thankfully lol I’m gonna look online at some point soon to see what order I should play everything in. The expansions are obvious but the Living World seasons are what I’m looking at for that list
@@MegaMadVladMMO the order is, Personal Story (till u kill Zaitan in Arah), LWS1, LWS2, Heart Of Thorns, LWS3, Path of Fire, LWS4, Ice Brood Saga, End of Dragons
@@MegaMadVladMMO basically what Shadowjoy says. Also in your hero panel, there's a Story tab (marked with a Star), and there it displays the correct order from top to bottom.
One interesting thing is that the “DPS Tank Support” trifecta isn’t really a thing in GW2. Like, you can specialize your build for these roles, but the professions themselves are kinda jacks of all trades.
I'm a longterm Gw2 player trying out FF14 currently...also after two weeks in completely in love with FF14. Both are amazing games tbh and the best MMOs I've ever played. From a veteran, I hope you enjoy your experience in GW2 as much as I am in FF14
They both play vastly different from each other for sure. I love FFXIV and I’m really liking GW2 so far too lol I’m curious what race and job you’re playing in FF
@@MegaMadVladMMO As for a matter of comparison, I tended to play human mesmer/ chronomancer and sylvari necromancer/ reaper in Gw2. In FF14 I've been playing a miqo'te, mainly focusing on bard and summoner...lv 47 currently but will probably try out blue mage once I beat ARR. But yes, both are amazing games for sure :)
What I’ve got in GW2 is the Human Warrior in the video, Thief Sylvari, Revenant Charr, Hunter Norn, and Elementalist Asura. Oh! Blue Mage is called a Limited Job. It’s one that can’t be max level in the game because it’s severely unbalanced. It does have its own questline and book to fill out though lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Having one of every race in Gw2 is a great idea. You get achivement points from completely all the races personal stories up to level 30 or so and they're all very fun. If you like jumping puzzles, I'd recommend an asura for those :p a lot easy when dealing with a small character to navigate them. Yep, the friend who talked me into FF14 told me that about blue mages but imo its sort of like "the mesmer of FF14", hence I'd want to play it :p. No complaints as all the jobs are fun...I also like ninja and dragoon a lot but she told me its best to pick one or two jobs to focus on for the MSQ,...she made the mistake of levelling everything and suffered for it. As a chronic altoholic (hence why I love GW2 so much) it's a bit of a challenge to pick just one :p) Mesmer's a bit of an odd profession, but I'd recommend it. I played it in GW1 as well and it's a lot of fun.
Yeah, I wanted to experience all the different personal stories for each race lol Oh yeah, absolutely agree with your friend lol 2 jobs through MSQ will get you to the end. Thank when you wanna open up to all the other jobs. Thankfully it’s easy to do all jobs in FF so that helps to alleviate the alts issue a bit lol
8:26 There is commander in the map (the white mark in minimap). For WvW it's best to join them is you want to conquer a keep or survive meeting enemy blob ;) After 8pm there are even queues for maps and servers are changend every week so you fight new ppl
@@MegaMadVladMMO Commanders are Players who purchased a Commander Tag for 300 gold, which are in most cases experienced players leading a group. In WvW they serve the purpose of uniting all players on the map to fight larger scale battles and conquer castles. In PvE you mostly see Commanders on maps with Meta Events (Big mapwide events) or World Bosses guiding players into what they have to do.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yes :D, but actually there also exists a Mentor Tag (looks like an Apple and is called as such) which can be unlocked by unlocking the Tyria Masteries (Level 80 stuff). Mentor Tags are for quick things and Commanders are normally pulling large Squads of players around
About WvW & PvP. WvW is not very newbie friednly as it requires level 80 + gear to be able to do anything. It also has an infamously guild based / discord based community, so you might have been playing at a good time, but it is difficult to tell as communication happens in discord / guild chats. PvP on the other hand is very welcoming. You get a "PvP build" tab that lets you freely customize your PvP gear, and you get to freely choose your traits & skills and chnage them to your liking. You also can level & gear via PvP for PvE stuff, so you dont have to level in PvE at all if you dont want to.
Yeah I saw I had different abilities than what I was used to when I hopped into PvP. Was definitely surprised by it for sure lol When I hopped into WvW, I went in with the skills I was familiar with, it didn’t automatically change them. So they have similarities and differences at the same time from what I’ve done thus far
Cool video! It's always great to see perspective from genre vets. For future videos though, you should check your mic, there's some weird dips and pops all over the video, its really distracting.
I've spent more than 3000+ hours in this game. Pretty much did the same thing in the original Guild Wars. There is a lot of content to go through in this game and it is VERY easy to become distracted with all of the sidequests and the different things available from each race. I've got a character of each profession and have used all 5 races. Even with all of that time that I have invested in this game, I haven't done everything that is available to do here. It has been a bit difficult for me to focus on completing everything on one character at a time. It has been a very fun experience for me and I wouldn't have it any other way. Some people like to rush through the content to quickly get up to level 80 (max level) but when you do that, you end up missing out on many of the other things that are available to you here. My humble suggestion is that you pace yourself so that you don't miss out on any of the content. Welcome to Tyria and have fun in your adventures! 😁
I bought GW2 when it came out years ago. Then during the pandemic I jumped back into it late into the Heart of Fire expansion. There is so much to this game and you can really do as much or little as you want, as hardcore or casual as you want it and it all feels great. Each class plays differently for the most part, but every class has the capability to do most roles. You can swap your builds at anytime for whatever game mode you want. Also the crafting is really neat, on the surface level of basic crafting level up, it doesn't feel too varied and fantastic, a lot of ways to gain levels granted, but not exciting. But when you get into the ascended and legendary crafting it really get interesting and fun. Currently working on the Legendary sword Exordium, which requires several precursors and materials beforehand. Exploration is heavily rewarded imo, always a hidden chest around the corner, and map completion rewards in achievements and item rewards. Oh and about achievements. Not just bragging rights, each tier of achievements rewards a chest of rewards, whether gold, luck advantages to loot, karma (vendor currency) or items. Some expansions give you exclusive rewards for fleshing out entire achievement track. Like gear, backpacks (cape), or other skins/cosmetics, even mounts! It has a majesty to it that I heard WoW used to have in the past, where it takes time and effort to really get some cool stuff.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I heard that Legendaries all have to be crafted? I’ve seen people say they never want to work on another one after getting their first lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yep! There is a length process to each legendary, and it is really fun getting each step done on your way to the final weapon. Quite a few things are like that, my Necromancer for example can get a 2handed sword for the reaper class called "Dark Harvest" which is rewarded on achievement of several Heart of Thrones acquisitions. It is very neat.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Same on the crafting, but it just feels so cool to have this like "Legendary Item" that takes time and effort to get. Check the Wiki on legendary weapons whenever you have a chance and just see the process required it is very cool. Makes that items feel super special! Also hope the game is still going strong for you!
@@MegaMadVladMMO Four(?) of the legendaries that came out with Heart of Thorns have "questlines" (achievements) associated with them + crafting their "precursors." It's really not as bad as some people make it out to be, haha. I lost track of how many I've made over the last couple years. Crafting is also really fast to level up if you have the gold/materials for it. Sometimes the worst part is just getting all the materials you need to make a legendary (map completion is required!). You can also buy the so-called "gen1" and "gen3" weapons on the trading post, for a couple thousand gold. :> The gen1 ones came out with the game launch, and the gen3 are the new Aurene legendaries, that can have new skins unlocked for them through mini questlines. And then there are the legendary trinkets, which are all "questline" based. They really require some effort. And there are three different ways to get legendary armor. But, yeah, the best part of legendaries is they're usable on ANY level 80 character of yours on your account who can use that weapon (all at the same time, even). So, like, my ranger and my warrior can both use the same greatsword at the same time; I don't have to move it around my account. And you can change stats and everything with them while out of combat. They're really nice QoL items. But no rush on getting legendaries or anything! They have the same stats as the ascended (pink) gear, which you can craft/get as drops from places/achievement rewards/etc.
I've quit playing (pretty much) now but I played for several years starting right after the second season (Dry Top and the surrounding area). This is the first MMO I played and couldn't get into any others because of they compared to it.
The way I’ve found myself able to try other MMOs was going in to experience something new. Sure, comparisons are bound to happen, but I look more at the game in question and find enjoyment in the moment lol
If you are enjoying the story up 'till now, you will love the developments after level 80! It gets more interesting, with NPC that grow with you. It loses the branching choices, gaining in richness, and every season/expansion the devs improved
As a tidbit, there is a "Trinity"-esqe system when it comes to Dungeons, and later on Raids and Strike Missions (Think FFXIV Trials), the trinity in this instance is DPS/Support/Healing, where you have all these buffs going out and working to maximize them from your party. I also do want to ask, have you had the chance to fight one of a World Boss yet? If so, which one?
@@MegaMadVladMMO Svanir Shaman Chief - Svanir in general could refer to Sons of Svanir (the common mobs in snow area) and also the actual Svanir guy which you can't really see him or fight him or anything, just for story purposes. If you are interested in the story like I am, you can always type /wiki [text] in the in-game chat and ur browser will pop out, try searching for /wiki Svanir for example, good luck with your run, im happy to see more people trying GW2 and its getting some more people :)
@@MegaMadVladMMO too true. I'm a basic elvish (or whatever's closest to it) archer enjoyer. Went from my sylvari ranger to Au ra bard recently. Didn't like the elezen 😂
GW2 gives you so much freedom, it's easy to get lost to. Even gearing is optional since the difference between exotic and ascended is roughly 10%. Legendary is only for convinience and fashion wars. Also, story mode is a lot better played with someone else, since they get repetitive with high HP enemies.
7:19 lol did the cat meow at you? I couldn't remember this one, but if it meow at you, which means you can bring it back to your home with certain food ;) 7:46 And if you have the expansion, all your specializations would be unlocked in PVP area. So, many ppl use it to test which specialization they prefer to unlock 1st in the open world ;) Ah, welcome to GW2 btw lol Happy to see you have fun
A cat's meow eh? Interesting lol There's so much I'm learning that I had no idea existed in the game prior to this video lol I did purchase all 3 expansions and Living World recently. So testing all the specs is something that sounds good for sure! Thank you! ^^
@@MegaMadVladMMO There is actually a large amount of different cats out in the open world which you can bring food too and they will move in to your home instance. All cats wants different food though. If you get stuck on what that food is, wiki have the whole list of all cats and their food cravings =D
@@MegaMadVladMMO It is just one of this things that Arena Net throw in to the game at some point and expire on it when they realie we like it. There is many different type of ca't's One of them i wont tell which, even have raidboss mechanics if you happen to hit it when it moved in to your homeinstance =D
I love going into games that have immense amounts of content to play. It tends to mean that I won't just run through all the game has to offer in a month, and in this case, I get to see what others have done over time ^^
It can definitely be said without being a hater that the vanilla mainland GW2 experience desperately needs a graphical and mechanical update to bring it up to par with the later released jungle, desert and south continent expansions (and additional Living Story maps), which are vastly superior in that department. In that sense a contemporary first impression of GW2 can mislead and disappoint in regards to the game's full potential and splendour.
Well if anything, I am continuing the game into Living World and the respective Expansions. So with that in mind, I'll be experiencing them at some point lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yeah like ESO. The "servers" are for WvW more or less. The whole being able to play with your friends/people across servers is what I'm talking about.
Oh??? I didn’t know that was a thing! I assumed from the server list that all players were on their respective servers lol the WvW makes sense of course
human lore stuff: humans used to be more widespread across the continent but have been declining over the past few centuries fun fact: they actually arent native to tyria, they were brought over here from another dimension by the gods the worship (the six)
In my opinion, the quality of the music takes a big step up when the game moves away from Jeremy Soule as the composer. He did a great job, but for GW2, their in-house composers just take it a step above. Maclaine Diemer and Lana Chappelle wrote all of my favorite pieces in the game, and the other composers are no slouch themselves.
Tiny note: While the music is great and has been going back to GW1...there is an alternative aspect to the in-game soundtrack that is equally nice, the ability to craft your own soundtrack. Probably will have to find a guide or visit the forums that tell you how, just saying it's a nice option to have. I think there are a few times or type of thing happening that you can't change...such as cutscenes etc etc, but ambient and encounter/battle songs can all be replaced with things you like for those situations.
So having done what you have done but in reverse GW's 2 to FF14, the combat in GW's 2 is just so much more fluid. And when you need to move out of a attack it is much more crap I have to dodge RIGHT NOW... vs Oh I can just slowly walk out of this damage oh look I got out of it.... oh now I can go back in and continue to fight.... The story in FF14 is good I can not deny that... But sigh its so slow to do quests..... lol I think GW's 2 way of fighting and leveling is far superior. So I do hope you continue. If you get lost people will always help you out.. Don't rush to get through everything just enjoy the ride!!!! And if someone without asking says do this or this JUST DON'T, do what you want to do =-)
Yeah, from what I’ve seen from both games, they’re absolutely different experiences entirely. FFXIV’s combat definitely picks up in end game when you’re basically attacking with guitar hero and moving with a DDR pad lol Can’t deny that GW2 going against the MMO questing grain feels good. While FFXIV does that with longer quests to add to the story, one of them is paced much better while the other has very high payoff for staying with it
Playing both, only thing FF14 does better is 1.)Battle music 2.)One character is all classes. 3.)emotes 4.)crafting 5.)Zone weather and ambience( nothing beats the light coming through trees in Shroud, feels like a summer morning as a kid.) Gw2 does these better 1.) Open world 2.) PvP (World and Instanced) 3.)combat 4.)races 5.)dye system I would say I see both equally in terms of PvE high end content. GW2 is more free and do as you please. FF14 is do as you please, but also you gotta follow this long seemingly endless path(MSQ as many things are locked behind them.) Hearts are GW2 quests. You don't even need to talk to them to start or complete a heart. You get rewarded XP, map completion, and Karama points. Each one of these Heart NPCs are actually a vendor and sell items for karma. If you don't do this you will take awhile before finding necklace earring/ring replacements as you level from 1-80
When playing dungeons in FFXIV, cutscenes are expected. When playing all the other MMOs to this point, they don’t tend to have cutscenes so me expectation for a new one was following the trend away from XIV
For people who want to be charr but don't like being the "big races" If you choose shortest height and smallest body frame, as well as shortes horns/ears/ and smallest head size. you are slender. And you are as tall as a krytan human. If you actually chose the largest options for any race Male Norn are actually the largest race.
GW2 vanilla gameplay did not feel that good at release but in its current state it is very laid back mmo with some very strong pve(some fights in gw2 are superior to wow like sunsqua CM which is a masterpiece of a fight). Not sure if you are sponsored but one of the core issue of the game is its cash shop. For B2P game it goes pretty hard on the fomo cashshop and lack of natural QOL. The story is ok, story content is a bit lengthy for what is is but the universe is rich and coherent and they did a good job of intertwining story content and mastery unlocks in expansions. About pvp, GW2 has by very far the best ranked pvp ever, RvR kind of suck it is a decent playground for top players or social players who like zerging for account value.
Now that I’ve played all the way through EoD, I can say my absolute favorite bits of content are Dragon’s Stand and Dragon’s End. The absolute spectacle of both of those Metas are phenomenal lol And nah, no sponsor or anything. This is essentially my journey and experience through the game
@@MegaMadVladMMO ahhhh nice!!!! I love fashion in games too I like the ff14 fashion and love what they changed in resent years at was kinda painfull before, but imo GW2 has the best solution for this ^^ I hesitated years but finally started making videos about it feel free to check them even tho I just started so dont expect to much from me only from the game ahaha :D
@@Becii In FFXIV, I have one Glam that I think if absolutely PERFECT for what I was going for. They're a Paladin as well lol I'm looking forward to playing around with the Wardrobe feature in GW2 here too ^^ And I subbed to you!
"And im looking forward to how the expansions play out" Oh, sweet summer child...YOU ARE NOT PREPAIRED. Try not to let it overwhelm you. The game slams you with new ways to play not seen in any other MMORPG, especially Path of Fire and the mounts. If...if...you can survive how Heart of Thorns hits you with a zone that is truly 3 dimensional which makes it the largest zone in any MMO in history.
I have seen a hint of the Heart of Thorns zone. The fact that it allows you to traverse far more than just land is phenomenal. Video games being my live, I have play games that took advantage of that extra verticality lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO but wait...you have just tapped into it, the more the expansion goes on the more ways the go not only with vertical play, but how varied it gets. Then, they add far far more variety in the next xpac with the many mounts and what skills they each have adding depth to zone design.
@@MegaMadVladMMO Cool, try not to let it overwhelm you. The amount of new currency and new play styles along with pressure to get mastery levels for your mounts can be harsh. If you find yourself wanting too much too soon...take a break and calm yourself so you dont burn out.
I proud that gw2 is finally getting the recognition it deserves. It sorta has p2w but how can you care about the when the game itself is just so so so good. Just worry about yourself.
One thing that p2win people forget is if you log in during the episodes, they're free. They aren't locked into micro-transactions if you play. I think that's awesome.
They are. As a Charr main they are big cats.... they are the worlds Gnolls.... beastial humanoids based on an animal. But instead of Hyenas like Gnolls are, they are based on Kitty Mows.

Human: Classic MMORPG landscape
Sylvari: Elf-like plant architecture, very lush greenery.
Norn: Nordic hunting ground.
Asura: Freshman year college.
Charr: Hi, welcome to the Battlefield! The war is THAT way! Have fuuuunnnn! :3

I made a character in all 5 races and this is very accurate xDDD

7:25 if you look at the bottom left, you'll see you were temporarily up-leveled to 80 so you could participate in the event :) you'll def be weaker compared to "real" lvl 80 characters with full gear, but strong enough to contribute. Generally if you see an event in a lower level zone you can kinda expect to be able to join in
yep his hp was scaled up by a factor of 10
Well now, definitely something I didn’t notice while playing or editing lol Thanks for the info! Will definitely try it out if it pops up on another character ^^

I have a sylvary mesmer, and I must say, that salad that duplicates when let out of the fridge, should be handled carefully, and most certainly shouldn't be tasted!
btw, there is an "Action Camera" option available if you wanna make the combat purely action based.
here's how to toggle it:
Press ESC > click on Options > Click on the Control tab (The mouse icon) > Scroll down to the "Camera" section > Assign a key to "Toggle Action Camera" > Press the key.
And there ya go, game's combat's now action-based with some light targeting involved
Action Camera? Is that like actually using your mouse to aim rather than just hitting the buttons in a tab target sense? If so, that takes the point I made about it being a mix even further than I realized lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO It is Mouse target with a Mix of Lock on abilities
@@MegaMadVladMMO my personal button after trying many is the mouse wheel click

My favourite thing about GW2 is the horizontal progression. I can take long breaks from the game and not worry about falling behind stats-wise. :)
I’ve heard of the horizontal progression. Definitely sounds like a more inviting way to get new players
Hey man, welcome to GW2! Its always good to see players from other MMO's trying out GW2. I'm looking forward to your next videos :)
Thank you!
The Mesmer class is what really caught my attention in GW2. I hadn't heard of an illusion focused class in an MMO before so it was really exciting to try out and remains my favorite ~8 years later (though all classes are pretty cool).
the Mesmer class, probably still a unique concept for MMRPGs
there is a class in everquest 2 that has the illusion theme.
You'll probably never go back to tab target only (I know I didn't since its introduction in 2015)
It may feel overwhelming at first, but that eventually subsides when the choice based open endedness clicks in your brain.
@@MegaMadVladMMO put it on mouse wheel click, you have to mix your combat with action cam it's perfect but it's bad for ape skills like your Hammer F1 skill. Definitely sounds like something interesting to test out. Thanks ^^
Hey, just seen this video from algorithm suggestion; very happy and glad to have new players around! It's a joy to see new people are enjoying the game I love. Been playing this since 10 years: the content you've showed is actually from those times.

@@MegaMadVladMMO yeah, path of fire expansion is where the game shines in my opinion!
@@dezm1 💯💯
7:26 you get level scaled up for that event which depending on your gear, can actually make you stronger than someone who is at cap, since they do not expect you to have good gear while leveling. Outside of WvW, there are very few events that do this though.
Interesting, thanks for the info!
Same mechanic also reduces your level if you are 80 and go into a lower level zone.
You can see this on the bottom left.
Your current level is 28 in white, but you are a little high for the area you are in, so it reduced you to 22, shown in green with down arrow
When you went through the portal it jumps to 80, again in green with up arrow
You may be higher level, but the gear and limited skills still makes you weak, the fight will still be harder than if you were actually 80 with proper gear.
Yeah I saw the level syncing for going down depending on the zone. Wasn’t expecting to hear it works in reverse outside of PVP
Oh interesting. So it’s actually pretty beneficial that I’m getting into the game now then since that’s coming back into the fold
@@MegaMadVladMMO Indeed. But don't rush to get to LW Season 1 take your time LOOK at the world explore it.... I started on the 3 day headstart and EVERYONE was rushing to get through it..... I now see things that I never saw on the first play through!

That rift you went into scaled you up to level 80.
Once you complete a dungeon you get to do an explorable mode which diverts paths as well. I think every dungeon has 3 different paths
I saw the game talk a bit about the explorable mode but I had no idea it opens that much lol
Welcome! There are so many tips I could give but I'll settle for these:
1) right click (instead of left click) the chests you get above your mini map, most of them will open directly and let you skip a click.

US, no guild, Gate of Madness server lol
I'm sure you've learned by now if you're still playing but:
10:00 pause here ish.
Interesting. I actually didn’t know about the blue bar lol Thanks for the info!

I've been playing WvW almost exclusively since launch and have always been amazed at how easy it is to jump into, but how insanely nuanced the strategy and tactics get.
It truly is a "play at your own pace" sort of thing.
The feeling is has of making a 3 team battlefield is fantastic. Definitely looking to see more in the future during more populated times for sure!
A lovely tidbit to add is the voice actor for the female sylvari is Jennifer Hale aka Commander Shepherd, Bastila Shan 😍
Oh? Interesting! Another big name!
BTW dungeon story modes are like a sidequest to your main personal story that culminates in last lvl 80 dungeon with your personal story.
Oh? Interesting! Definitely something I to see for sure
belated welcome =) i really enjoyed this video, grateful for getting it on my front page ^^
one minor note: if you are doing the story path of a dungeon and someone is watching a cutscene, the dungeon can NOT be progressed while the cutscene is still happening. doors wont open, bosses wont spawn. if you are a new player, dont feel pressured in skipping those cutscenes for your teammates and dont be scared you are left behind. they literally cant leave you behind =D
Thank you for watching! ^^
Oh interesting! I definitely didn't know about that. Haven't really done too much in the dungeon scene due to limited time, but that's a bit of a burden lifted off of me. Experiencing the story is something I definitely like to do lol
You will know the evil that is frogs and mushrooms
Welcome to Tyria and the new map below it (Cantha)! Hoping you will enjoy more of GW2 as you progress. Been playing this game on and off, and honestly this is the only MMO that keeps me on coming back. Is it the genre, the play style, the music, or perhaps the people in it. Either way, have fun and again welcome to GW2!
Thank you! ^^
As a - at this point - decade-long Tyrian, there is so much to talk about, but I shall refrain from it (unless you have questions. If you do, ask away!)
However, a quick note about the music.
Guild Wars 2 has had a handful of composers over the years.
Pretty much like this:
For the main game, meaning everything present at release, Jeremy Soule was the lead composer.
To you and all the newcomers, welcome to the best MMO that not nearly enough people talk about. You will enjoy your stay :)
Yeah, I returned with 5 new players. After 6 years away, game has so much content now. Has its bad things I could make a long list, but overall quite enjoyable.
Onward and upward to a good future for this game lol
I definitely saw there was shared stuff between characters, mounts included, but what you’re suggesting is it goes even further than I’ve noticed lol
Oh Oblivion is such a time lol
Oh I’m definitely taking my time for sure lol Got 5 characters set up to go through the story and experience the variances. Looking forward to it ^^
Most underrated MMO for sure.
Good review! Thanks for making this.
Thanks ^^
One small but important detail is also that when playing the story instances with others you have the option to share the progress. Which feels much more natural in comparison to for example ESO where you can only play the story in parallel.
Interesting. I’ll have to grab a friend and see. Is it Race identical characters or can I play Norn and my friend a Asura?
@@MegaMadVladMMO You can join any story instance regardless of the race. But the progress can only be shared if you or any friend that joins needs the current story mission. So the feature is primarily interesting in the living world or addons where the story path is more linear, or for later chapters of the core game where the story is the same regardless of the race.
If you liked this music, also check out this version "Guild Wars 2: Fear Not This Night 2018 - Maclaine Diemer". He is composing the music of gw2 for the expansions and he sang this version himself :)
I swear if I get a dime everything some one bring up "Guild Wars 2: Fear Not This Night 2018 - Maclaine Diemer" I would have more dime then tRump.
I’ll check it out. Thanks!
What both my kids and I love the most about this mmorpg, is the freedom to explore, and the ability to play for real for free!
Great video, this. Great game, in so many ways.
Yeah, sorry for the slight spoiler. I did need an example to take the point further but I didn’t say anything further than that lol
I’m glad you’re enjoying gaming with your kids! ^^
As someone going the other way (gw2 vet trying out ff14) i really enjoyed this review :)
Thank you lol
I'd be curious to know your thoughts going the opposite direction lol
However, it wouldn’t have hit that point without taking the time through all the previous stories lol
I’m about to get into Heart of Thorns for GW2. Definitely looking forward to seeing the new things they implemented like the gliders. Also how the story goes because LWS2 has one hell of a teaser for it lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yep i have just finished ARR and im on the quests between arr and heavansward,
the story has definitely gone up a notch.
The first expansion is divisive on gw2, some love it- others felt it was too difficult. I liked it
Your first encounter with pocket raptors will be interesting :)
I think the gw2 storytelling picks up with POF myself. Good luck!
Lol Yeah, the story is the selling point to FFXIV. Hope you enjoy it!
I think the biggest thing I’m looking forward to in PoF is Griffinriding lol Looks very fun!
Welcome to Tyria, make yourself comfy and enjoy the journey :)
Thanks ^^
It's a bit of a mess lol
And thank you for watching!
Oh! That’ll make it easier for sure lol
really only gets better
One interesting thing is that the “DPS Tank Support” trifecta isn’t really a thing in GW2. Like, you can specialize your build for these roles, but the professions themselves are kinda jacks of all trades.
Yeah, finding that out wasn't what I expected for sure lol It's a refreshing change of pace as well
Welcome! Glad you're enjoying the game 👏
Thank you!
I love FFXIV and I’m really liking GW2 so far too lol
I’m curious what race and job you’re playing in FF
As a chronic altoholic (hence why I love GW2 so much) it's a bit of a challenge to pick just one :p)
Mesmer's a bit of an odd profession, but I'd recommend it. I played it in GW1 as well and it's a lot of fun.
Yeah, I wanted to experience all the different personal stories for each race lol
Oh yeah, absolutely agree with your friend lol 2 jobs through MSQ will get you to the end. Thank when you wanna open up to all the other jobs.
Thankfully it’s easy to do all jobs in FF so that helps to alleviate the alts issue a bit lol
8:26 There is commander in the map (the white mark in minimap). For WvW it's best to join them is you want to conquer a keep or survive meeting enemy blob ;)
After 8pm there are even queues for maps and servers are changend every week so you fight new ppl
A commander? NPC? 🤔
Yeah I saw there were resets, didn’t know when though lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Commanders are Players who purchased a Commander Tag for 300 gold, which are in most cases experienced players leading a group. In WvW they serve the purpose of uniting all players on the map to fight larger scale battles and conquer castles. In PvE you mostly see Commanders on maps with Meta Events (Big mapwide events) or World Bosses guiding players into what they have to do.
Oh so like a Mentor kind of concept in other MMOs
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yes :D, but actually there also exists a Mentor Tag (looks like an Apple and is called as such) which can be unlocked by unlocking the Tyria Masteries (Level 80 stuff). Mentor Tags are for quick things and Commanders are normally pulling large Squads of players around
Oh interesting 🤔 Learning more from the comments here than I expected lol
Was definitely surprised by it for sure lol
When I hopped into WvW, I went in with the skills I was familiar with, it didn’t automatically change them.
So they have similarities and differences at the same time from what I’ve done thus far
pro tip: alot of quests in towns/villages you can kill rats if you see them to add progression to the quest.
Time to activate your action camera controls in settings and experience the amazing!
Welcome!
Thank you!
Cool video! It's always great to see perspective from genre vets. For future videos though, you should check your mic, there's some weird dips and pops all over the video, its really distracting.
Yeah I noticed that too. Future videos will have that fixed, was something wrong with the mic settings lol
Thank you though! ^^
thank you for this! Nice video
Thank you ^^
Welcome to Tyria!
Thank you ^^
I've spent more than 3000+ hours in this game. 😁
Oh I'm definitely taking my time to really feel the world out in this lol
Thank you! ^^
Hope you enjoy the expansions, they really change how the game feels
I’m sure I will lol Though I’ll need to get through Living World 1 and 2 first
I bought GW2 when it came out years ago.
I’m a sucker for weapons that you work toward lol But I’m also not really a crafting kind of person
@@MegaMadVladMMO Four(?) of the legendaries that came out with Heart of Thorns have "questlines" (achievements) associated with them + crafting their "precursors."
It's really not as bad as some people make it out to be, haha.
I saw you joining the map the first time when i was im Queensdale staying as a mentor what a coincidence
What a small world! lol
You got lucky because your very first character is voiced by Nolan North. Enjoy your stay in Tyria!
Lol
Thank you!
I have fought a World Boss before. Only 1 to my knowledge though. Name was Svanir I think
I've never seen an mmo veteran pick anything other that male human/norn warior or female human thief 😂

Lol Fair enough. Plenty of races in FFXIV to work with and look good
GW2 gives you so much freedom, it's easy to get lost to. Even gearing is optional since the difference between exotic and ascended is roughly 10%. Legendary is only for convinience and fashion wars. Also, story mode is a lot better played with someone else, since they get repetitive with high HP enemies.
Oh absolutely lol I’ve found myself doing side quests for far longer than I needed to by mistake lol
7:19 lol did the cat meow at you? I couldn't remember this one, but if it meow at you, which means you can bring it back to your home with certain food ;)
7:46 And if you have the expansion, all your specializations would be unlocked in PVP area. So, many ppl use it to test which specialization they prefer to unlock 1st in the open world ;)
Ah, welcome to GW2 btw lol Happy to see you have fun
A cat's meow eh? Interesting lol There's so much I'm learning that I had no idea existed in the game prior to this video lol
I did purchase all 3 expansions and Living World recently. So testing all the specs is something that sounds good for sure!

Welcome to Gw2! the mmo that broke all other mmos for me haha but seriously this game is awesome!
Lul! Thank you ^^
It can definitely be said without being a hater that the vanilla mainland GW2 experience desperately needs a graphical and mechanical update to bring it up to par with the later released jungle, desert and south continent expansions (and additional Living Story maps), which are vastly superior in that department. In that sense a contemporary first impression of GW2 can mislead and disappoint in regards to the game's full potential and splendour.
Well if anything, I am continuing the game into Living World and the respective Expansions. So with that in mind, I'll be experiencing them at some point lol
deserved more subscriber...keep up the good work
Thank you!
Of course it had to be Fear not this night :) As a 10 years veteran player, i will say : Welcome to Tyria...
Lol Thanks ^^
Did you know the reason we have megaservers today is b/c of guild wars? They pioneered the technology.
Oh? There are a lot of servers there to choose from. Unless you mean how you can visit other via a Data Center?
When I think megaserver, I think ESO
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yeah like ESO. The "servers" are for WvW more or less. The whole being able to play with your friends/people across servers is what I'm talking about.
Oh??? I didn’t know that was a thing! I assumed from the server list that all players were on their respective servers lol the WvW makes sense of course
@@MegaMadVladMMO Yeah it makes the world always feel populated.
human lore stuff:
humans used to be more widespread across the continent but have been declining over the past few centuries
fun fact: they actually arent native to tyria, they were brought over here from another dimension by the gods the worship (the six)
I saw about the decline in Humans lore but didn’t know about the world traveling lol
there is a third and 4th method of leveling, pvp/wvw will allow you level up and so will crafting
Crafting is still one of those things I haven’t touched yet lol I heard it’s something I need to get Ascended gear
I love video game music. The way that games work with them is always fantastic. Gonna have to give more songs a listen to in GW2 for sure!
I a am new player too and I notice that this mmo is good for player with have not much time. For example is fast leveling to 80 or training dominions.
Not only is your character voiced, but male humans are voiced by Mr. Nolan "Uncharted" North.
The man, the myth, the legend himself!
Welcome to Tyria
Thank you! ^^
FFXIV’s combat definitely picks up in end game when you’re basically attacking with guitar hero and moving with a DDR pad lol
Can’t deny that GW2 going against the MMO questing grain feels good. While FFXIV does that with longer quests to add to the story, one of them is paced much better while the other has very high payoff for staying with it
You should make a Gigachad Norn! xD
Gonna need to grab me another character slot at some point for that xDDD
Playing both, only thing FF14 does better is
1.)Battle music
2.)One character is all classes.
3.)emotes
4.)crafting
5.)Zone weather and ambience( nothing beats the light coming through trees in Shroud, feels like a summer morning as a kid.)
Gw2 does these better
1.) Open world
2.) PvP (World and Instanced)
3.)combat
4.)races
5.)dye system
I would say I see both equally in terms of PvE high end content.
GW2 is more free and do as you please.
FF14 is do as you please, but also you gotta follow this long seemingly endless path(MSQ as many things are locked behind them.)
Hearts are GW2 quests. You don't even need to talk to them to start or complete a heart. You get rewarded XP, map completion, and Karama points. Each one of these Heart NPCs are actually a vendor and sell items for karma. If you don't do this you will take awhile before finding necklace earring/ring replacements as you level from 1-80
You didn’t expect cutscenes in the dungeons? You sure you played ffxiv?
When playing dungeons in FFXIV, cutscenes are expected. When playing all the other MMOs to this point, they don’t tend to have cutscenes so me expectation for a new one was following the trend away from XIV
3:10 not only does your character have a voice, it's actually none other than Nolan *f-ing* North
Yeah I found that out after making this video xDDD
For people who want to be charr but don't like being the "big races"
If you choose shortest height and smallest body frame, as well as shortes horns/ears/ and smallest head size. you are slender.
The absolute spectacle of both of those Metas are phenomenal lol
And nah, no sponsor or anything. This is essentially my journey and experience through the game
@@MegaMadVladMMO Wish you the best then.
Expansion zones open world difficulty and art, blow core Tyria out of the water.
already hooked? wait till you see the Fashion Wars you will never leave again *evil laught* :D
I’m huge into fashion and looking good in games so this is a rabbit hole I’m ecstatic to fall down xDDD
😂😂
@@MegaMadVladMMO ahhhh nice!!!! I love fashion in games too I like the ff14 fashion and love what they changed in resent years at was kinda painfull before, but imo GW2 has the best solution for this ^^ I hesitated years but finally started making videos about it feel free to check them even tho I just started so dont expect to much from me only from the game ahaha :D
@@Becii In FFXIV, I have one Glam that I think if absolutely PERFECT for what I was going for. They're a Paladin as well lol
I'm looking forward to playing around with the Wardrobe feature in GW2 here too ^^
And I subbed to you!
@@MegaMadVladMMO uhh Id love to see that in the future! :D
oh thx
"And im looking forward to how the expansions play out"
Oh, sweet summer child...YOU ARE NOT PREPAIRED.
@@thomasjones4570 It's all stuff that I wanna see lol
@@MegaMadVladMMO Cool, try not to let it overwhelm you. The amount of new currency and new play styles along with pressure to get mastery levels for your mounts can be harsh. If you find yourself wanting too much too soon...take a break and calm yourself so you dont burn out.
you say the map is gigantic. did you scroll aaaaaaaaaalll the way down to cantha? ;)
Lol I did once I saw the location keys at the bottom right. Didn’t have footage of it
Gw2 best mmo
As for music in game :D
ua-cam.com/video/C1mJW9mdQHU/v-deo.html
I proud that gw2 is finally getting the recognition it deserves. It sorta has p2w but how can you care about the when the game itself is just so so so good. Just worry about yourself.
One thing that p2win people forget is if you log in during the episodes, they're free. They aren't locked into micro-transactions if you play. I think that's awesome.
THE CARR AREN'T FCKIN CATS!!!
They are. As a Charr main they are big cats.... they are the worlds Gnolls.... beastial humanoids based on an animal. But instead of Hyenas like Gnolls are, they are based on Kitty Mows.
I played it for 3 years, got out, when i came back i didn't find the way to play the endgame and no one helped me so i said fck it back to wow xD
Even if it’s not with GW2, all that matters is you enjoy playing what you want lol
